Chapter 23: The Marriage — Look, Miss Tu’s Gift
Fang Yu’s car was parked by the roadside waiting. From a distance, she saw the cheerful Gong Shayu and the extremely gloomy Tu Si walking one after the other.
She was puzzled. How did their expressions completely swap places from when they left?
Gong Shayu walked closer and asked, “Did you buy the item?”
Assistant Fang nodded and handed her a high-end gift box from the passenger seat.
While unwrapping the box, Gong Shayu told Fang Yu, “Assistant Fang, remember to deduct 150,000 Huabi from Miss Tu’s monthly salary starting this month, until the debt is cleared.”
Fang Yu: “?”
Going Dutch?
Weren’t those rings only 1.5 million Huabi?
Miss Gong shook the plain silver band on her finger and said nonchalantly, “Look, a gift from Miss Tu. That one, plus the one on her hand, is exactly 150,000.”
Just then, Tu Si opened the car door and got in.
Fang Yu saw the green light radiating from the large fake diamond on Tu Si’s ring finger and couldn’t help but ask with sympathy, “That 150,000… were you scammed? Where did you buy it?”
After speaking, Assistant Fang met Gong Shayu’s playful gaze, instantly understood something, coughed twice professionally, and hastily corrected herself, “Beautiful, beautiful.”
Gong Shayu tossed the gift box Fang Yu brought to Tu Si, coldly spitting out two words: “Wedding ring.”
Tu Si finally realized that Assistant Fang had gone to retrieve the ring.
Tu Si felt a sense of comfort. She opened the box, took out the diamond ring, and placed it on the ring finger of her other hand—it fit perfectly.
The main stones of the rings on both hands were similar in size, but Gong Shayu’s was simply a translucent white, far less vivid and attractive than the one Tu Si had bought.
Tu Si felt she got the short end of the stick. Gong Shayu’s purchase was surely less expensive than her own.
“Lock this with the contract,” Gong Shayu tossed the two marriage certificates, the diamond ring, and the plain silver band into the passenger seat, signaling Fang Yu to secure them.
Seeing this, Tu Si also put the diamond ring back in the box. She touched the “green gem” on her hand and imitated Gong Shayu, saying, “I’ll wear this one.”
Gong Shayu barely managed to suppress a laugh, forcing herself to say, “Suit yourself.”
Fang Yu guessed the toy ring on Tu Si’s hand cost at most 150 Huabi. Confirming this with Gong Shayu’s expression, she realized Boss Gong was clearly teasing Miss Tu.
The mere thought startled Fang Yu herself.
She couldn’t concentrate on driving and kept glancing at the two in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
“Ahem, Boss Gong, Iπ Jewelry sent the hotel a complimentary week in the honeymoon suite, along with a wedding photography session. Would you like to…”
“Photography… is that taking pictures?” Tu Si’s voice changed with excitement. “I like that!!!”
Gong Shayu closed her eyes to rest, not bothering to lift an eyelid. “Skip the photography. Although we’re married, it’s not time to go public. As for the honeymoon suite, it’s yours, Assistant Fang. Just remember to give me a three-thousand-word problem report and improvement suggestions after your stay.”
Tu Si: “…###”
Fang Yu: “…………”

The Complaint and the Confrontation
Upon arriving at ICC, Gong Shayu went to her office, and Tu Si returned to Gong Shayu’s apartment.
She wandered aimlessly inside, her eyes settling on the jewelry cabinet on the dressing table.
Gong Shayu had warned her not to touch anything, but Tu Si was in a bad mood today, so that warning could be temporarily forgotten.
Opening the jewelry cabinet, Tu Si was stunned by the contents: a cabinet full of nearly identical bracelets.
Each bracelet was adorned with a central circular or square plaque, densely engraved with numbers or identical symbols. Even more bizarrely, the numbers on every plaque seemed exactly the same.
“How boring,” Tu Si offered her most objective assessment.
Just then, her phone rang, breaking her disdain. Tu Si pounced on it excitedly because the only people who ever called her were Hu Die and the others.
“Tu Si?” Hu Die’s voice came through the receiver.
Hearing the familiar voice, Tu Si’s nose immediately stung, and tears streamed down her face. “Sister Hu Die… you finally called me! I couldn’t get through to you, wuwuwuwu…”
Hu Die explained that she had been busy. Something had happened at the Demon Management Bureau, making it inconvenient for them to contact her. Her voice sounded very weak, but Tu Si completely believed her.
Finally, Hu Die asked, “How are you doing now?”
Tu Si briefly recounted her chance encounter with Gong Shayu and how Gong Shayu had agreed to let her follow her. Perhaps out of fear of the wire hanger beating, she didn’t mention the assassination attempt or the marriage.
“That’s good, that’s good. Then follow Miss Gong well. No wonder Bai Ying asked Wu Li about you, and he had no idea.”
Tu Si cried even harder. “But I miss you all so much! Can we video call?”
Hu Die whispered, “Is Miss Gong… not treating you well?”
Tu Si couldn’t help but complain: “She is very stingy! She deducts money from my salary for a ring, won’t let me take pictures, and… hits me with a clothes hanger…”
“You must remember to be obedient,” someone seemed to call Hu Die in the background. She answered and hurriedly said, “I’ll call you again in a few days, when it’s convenient.”
Tu Si made two humming sounds. The call ended, and she felt a little better.
She found that no matter what unpleasantness the human body experienced, once she cried, it didn’t feel so bad anymore.
She won’t let me take pictures? I’ll go take pictures myself!
With that thought, Tu Si sent a voice message to Wang Wei:
【Where are you? Let’s go take some pictures together!】

The Office Challenge
Back at the ICC office, no sooner had Gong Shayu stepped into her office than Tina, the head of Human Resources, followed her in.
“Boss Gong, this plan cannot be implemented.”
Gong Shayu sat back in the boss’s chair, staring at her. “Who are you?”
“…Tina.” Tina looked at Gong Shayu with an expression that screamed: We’ve had several video conferences; how can you not recognize me? The situation at the hotel is so urgent, and you want to start with this formality?
“Tina? Please remember, when entering my office in the future, knock on the door. Also, I don’t like sounds exceeding 55 decibels,” Gong Shayu said with a smile that didn’t reach her cold eyes. “I’ll give you one more chance.”
Tina was stunned for a moment, swallowed a few times, and by the time she reacted, she was back at the door of the CEO’s office.
Following Gong Shayu’s request, Tina knocked, but didn’t get permission to enter.
As she raised her hand to knock a third time, Fang Yu arrived with the Chief Financial Officer, Mark.
Just then, a quiet yet highly authoritative voice came from inside: “Enter.”
After the three entered the office, Fang Yu introduced CFO Mark and was about to introduce Tina, but Gong Shayu interrupted her. She smiled and said, “Tina has already introduced herself once, hasn’t she?”
Tina smiled awkwardly and nodded. She had worked at ICC Yalu Port for almost ten years, was one of the hotel’s founding members, and its first employee. She had personally recruited almost all of the current staff and management.
In short, within ICC, she was second only to one person and above everyone else.
For some reason, at this moment, she had a feeling that this structure was about to be broken.
Fang Yu said, “We’re meeting with the two of you today primarily because there’s a matter we need to finalize with you in advance.”
“Is it about layoffs? Boss Gong, I think this should not be rushed,” Tina’s tone softened, but her stance remained firm.
Fang Yu’s gaze swept over the two local employees, pausing on Tina’s face. “Tina, perhaps I wasn’t clear. Boss Gong means that what we’re finalizing with the two of you is not whether to lay off, but the specific plan for the layoffs.”
