The Cold Goddess Always Wants to Turn Me Gay (GL) - Chapter 14
“Then I won’t think too much about it. I’m planning to visit him during the National Day holiday and give him a surprise.”
Although Qin Rui didn’t want her to tire herself out, it had been almost two months since they last saw each other. Yu Xinxin missed him a lot. Since that was the case, she might as well go secretly and surprise him. Once she made up her mind, a smile crept across her face—like someone who had already succeeded.
Wei Zhi had a feeling this might not be a good idea, but she didn’t know how to stop her. She could only hope things would go smoothly when the time came. In the end, some things just had to be faced.
Feeling a little excited, Yu Xinxin picked up her phone to buy tickets. Hopefully, nothing would go wrong this time. Suddenly, she thought of something and turned to Wei Zhi, who was quietly tending to the flowers on the balcony. Her peaceful expression made it hard to imagine her getting drunk at a bar.
“By the way, things have been crazy lately, and I haven’t even asked you—why were you out drinking alone in the middle of the night?” Yu Xinxin’s tone turned serious. She clearly remembered hearing a man’s voice during their call that night. And it didn’t sound like a good guy. What if she had gotten there too late? What would she have done then?
“I…” Wei Zhi stopped what she was doing. Her gaze lowered. After a moment, she replied softly, “I just wasn’t in a good mood.”
That night, Wei Shenghong’s words had really hit her. She lost control of her emotions and somehow ended up at a bar.
Seeing her like this, Yu Xinxin guessed she must’ve run into something upsetting. As a classmate and a friend, she felt she had to help. So she spoke earnestly, “If something’s bothering you, just say it. Even if I can’t help, it’s still better than keeping it all inside.”
Wei Zhi suddenly thought of a saying: “If something’s bothering you, just say it. I won’t change, but don’t bottle it up and hurt yourself.” The words weren’t really related, but somehow they felt similar. Especially with Yu Xinxin’s sincere face in front of her—she couldn’t help but feel both helpless and amused.
“You’re actually pretty good at comforting people!” Wei Zhi smiled wryly.
“Of course! I’m like your little cotton-padded jacket, warm and caring. So, come on, tell me—what’s got you down?”
Yu Xinxin’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. She didn’t look like she was comforting someone at all—more like digging for gossip.
Wei Zhi was amused. Just seeing that smile made her feel like whatever happened wasn’t such a big deal after all.
“It’s nothing really, just…” Wei Zhi hesitated. “My dad wants me to go home for a blind date. I don’t want to go.”
It had been a long time since she’d called Wei Shenghong ‘Dad.’ Saying it now felt a little strange.
“That’s it?” Yu Xinxin looked shocked. “If you don’t want to go, then don’t! If my dad ever tried to force me into a blind date, I’d turn the whole house upside down.” Then realizing she may have overreacted, she quickly corrected herself and spoke more seriously:
“If you don’t want to go, just talk to your uncle about it. We’re still students, after all. There’s no rush for these things.”
“Okay, I’ll talk to him properly next time,” Wei Zhi replied calmly. Though deep down, she knew they probably wouldn’t ever have a proper conversation like that again.
“Exactly! You’re family. There’s nothing that can’t be talked through.” Yu Xinxin looked pleased.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
If she really wanted to live life on her own terms in the future, she would have to talk things out with Wei Shenghong at some point.
“Deal. And from now on, no more drinking!” Yu Xinxin reminded her firmly.
“Okay. I’ll listen to you,” Wei Zhi said with a smile in her eyes, her tone carrying a warmth even she didn’t notice.
The Mid-Autumn break passed quickly. Han Yin and Zhou Tong returned to school the night before it ended. Both of them were from Jiang, so traveling was easy. As for Wei Zhi, no one knew where she was from, and Yu Xinxin realized she had never asked. She should probably find a chance to do that.
“Alright, that’s it for today’s lesson. Goodbye, class.”
The bell rang, and the teacher stepped off the podium.
Just as the students were about to get up and leave, the class monitor walked to the front.
“Everyone, hold on a second. We’ve been in school for almost a month now, but we haven’t really had a proper gathering. After talking with the teachers, we’re planning a class outing after the National Day break. What do you all think?”
“Sounds great!”
“Yeah, I’m in!”
“We should definitely hang out more!”
“…”
Everyone agreed excitedly.
The class monitor continued, “Since everyone’s up for it, think about where you want to go. In two days, we’ll vote. But for safety reasons, let’s keep it within Jiang.”
His name was Li Wei. He looked mature and steady, and he handled things thoroughly. After making sure everything was clear, he dismissed the class.
“Where do you guys want to go?” Zhou Tong asked on the way back. She seemed really excited about the class trip.
“What fun places are there in Jiang?” Yu Xinxin turned to her.
“There’s lots of cool places! But with so many people in our class, we need to plan carefully.”
“How about mountain climbing? I remember there are a lot of historic sites up in the hills around Jiang.”
“There are, but climbing is exhausting!” Zhou Tong made a face. She hated tiring activities. Just thinking about it made her want to cry.
“Then let’s go eat something delicious!” Yu Xinxin’s eyes lit up. The moment food was mentioned, she came to life.
Wei Zhi couldn’t help smiling as she looked at her food-loving friend.
Zhou Tong noticed the brief smile on Wei Zhi’s face and jumped at the chance, “Zhi-Zhi, what do you want to do?”
Yu Xinxin immediately got goosebumps all over. Wei Zhi was usually quiet and aloof. She barely said a few words in a whole day. Zhou Tong thought she was too cold, so she always tried to tease her. That’s how the nickname ‘Zhi-Zhi’ was born.
Wei Zhi shot her a cold look. Her expression made it very clear she wasn’t happy.
But Zhou Tong was satisfied—this made the icy ‘goddess’ feel more human. Still, she thought, the only difference between this goddess and ice is that one is cold, and the other is colder.
“Brrr~” Zhou Tong shivered and hugged her arms. “So cold…”
Yu Xinxin looked at the sunny sky above and smirked, “Serves you right for running your mouth.” Freeze to death, see if I care.
As they neared the dorm, they saw a crowd in the distance. Zhou Tong, always ready for some drama, dragged Yu Xinxin and Wei Zhi forward. She pulled too hard, and the two nearly stumbled. Yu Xinxin almost fell, but Wei Zhi caught her just in time.
Wei Zhi was cool and elegant, and her arms felt just as cool—but strangely steady. A faint clean scent lingered in the air. It was crisp and comforting.
As she held the soft, delicate girl in her arms, Wei Zhi noticed her long lashes trembling slightly. She was still shaken from nearly falling, and the sweet scent that surrounded her made Wei Zhi’s heart suddenly skip. It started racing uncontrollably. Afraid the girl would notice, she quickly let go.
Yu Xinxin steadied herself again. For some reason, an image of a beautiful woman stepping out of the bath flashed through her mind. Her expression turned a little awkward.
Zhou Tong, who had already run a few steps ahead, turned back and gave them a sheepish smile. Seeing the dangerous look on Wei Zhi’s face, she decided to slip away and watch the crowd instead. Still… when she saw Yu Xinxin and ‘Zhi-Zhi’ together just now, it was kind of… beautiful? Why did her heart flutter a little?
Through the crowd, Zhou Tong spotted a carpet of flower petals on the ground and immediately perked up. She squeezed her way through and then froze when she saw what was happening.
“Holy crap. A real-life version?” she whispered in shock.
She scanned the scene and saw a ridiculously flashy peacock guy—probably from the computer science department.
Listening to the murmurs around her, Zhou Tong’s interest was piqued. Remembering a certain cold, indifferent face, she smiled to herself. This was going to be fun.
