- Chapter 2 - The Beginning of Everything
Yu Xinxin’s mind exploded. Her whole face turned red up to her ears. She rushed into the bathroom, breathing quickly. Wei Zhi was really becoming more shameless.
The bathroom was still full of heavy steam. The smell of body wash filled the air. Thinking about how Wei Zhi had just taken a shower here, Yu Xinxin pushed away her wild thoughts and began to undo the belt around her waist.
Twenty minutes later, Yu Xinxin came out of the bathroom wearing her pajamas. Wei Zhi had already dried her hair. When she saw Yu Xinxin come out, her breath caught, and she swallowed awkwardly. But on the surface, she stayed calm, picked up the hairdryer, and said, “Let me dry your hair.”
The sound of the hairdryer filled the room. Wei Zhi’s reaction made Yu Xinxin a little disappointed. She gave a small humph.
Afraid she would catch a cold with wet hair, Wei Zhi turned the hairdryer to the highest setting. She didn’t notice Yu Xinxin’s small mood. After drying her hair, she looked up at Yu Xinxin in the mirror. She frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and a soft smile appeared in her eyes.
She reached out from behind and hugged her, resting her chin on Yu Xinxin’s shoulder. Hot breath lightly brushed against her soft skin behind the ear. Yu Xinxin shrank her neck, a tingling feeling running through her body.
Wei Zhi gently rubbed her neck, making her tremble a little. Her breathing became slightly quick. Wei Zhi’s tongue lightly traced the soft earlobe, then gently bit and tasted it.
It was like a sudden jolt of electricity. Yu Xinxin’s whole body went soft. She couldn’t help but let out a soft sound, “Wei Zhi.”
Wei Zhi let go of her earlobe, moved to face her, and gently lifted her chin. Staring into her dazed eyes, she slowly lowered her head and kissed her soft lips.
Her hands slid under Yu Xinxin’s arms and behind her knees, picking her up easily. Looking at the girl who had gone soft in her arms, Wei Zhi’s lips curled into a mischievous smile as she slowly walked into the bedroom.
Yu Xinxin lay on the bed. In her half-dreaming state, she heard a whisper full of love, “Xinxin, I love you.”
⋯⋯
Yu Xinxin snuggled into the bed, burying her face in Wei Zhi’s neck.
Wei Zhi gently stroked her back, her touch tender and soft.
Yu Xinxin looked up and met a pair of loving eyes. She spoke with a hoarse voice, “I want some water.”
Wei Zhi pinched her cheek with affection. Her soft skin felt very nice to the touch. “I’ll get you some water,” she said.
Wei Zhi went to the living room, brought back a glass of water, and watched as Yu Xinxin drank slowly. Her throat moved slightly, her pale skin still flushed red. Under the covers, her skin half-showed and half-hid, pure and tempting at the same time. Wei Zhi’s heart skipped a beat. Her eyes darkened. She quickly looked away, silently cursing herself. They just… and yet here she was again, losing control.
Yu Xinxin put down the glass and noticed Wei Zhi glancing awkwardly aside. Feeling puzzled, she lowered her head to look at herself. Only her head was outside the covers, her skin hidden and revealed. She must look very improper right now. A mischievous smile curled her lips.
Wei Zhi was about to turn and wash her face when suddenly she was pulled back by a strong force, falling onto the bed. Before she could react, a warm body pressed against her. A soft voice whispered, “My turn now.”
A soft, sweet tongue pushed into her mouth, blocking any words she wanted to say. Wei Zhi sighed inside, relaxed her body, and let the girl in her arms be as wild as she pleased.
⋯⋯
The next morning, she habitually reached for the space beside her. It felt cool. She sat up quickly, staring at the empty half of the bed. She stayed still for a moment: Oh right, she left. She had sent her away herself.
Her eyes swept around the room. With a sigh, she got up. As she passed the dressing table, she caught a glimpse of something stuck among the skincare bottles.
She reached out and picked it up. It was a piece of letter paper. The familiar handwriting jumped into her sight, shaking her heart. She opened it:
“Wait for me. I love you.”
Tears poured out instantly. How could this person be so stingy with words? Didn’t she know how to write more sweet words? Wasn’t she afraid she would run away?
Once she started crying, she couldn’t stop. Tears fell like they cost nothing. She didn’t know how much time had passed.
That day passed in a daze. Crying until she was tired, resting, then crying again. When she finally ran out of tears, night had already fallen. From now on, she would be alone. But she knew, in her heart, that she was still there.
She flipped through the photo album in her hands, every moment of their time together fresh and clear in her mind.
Their story should really start from the day she received her college admission letter.
At that time, she loved someone else. But if not for that, she would never have met her.
⋯⋯
Three Summers Ago
The stressful senior year of high school was finally over. Yu Xinxin stared at the pile of textbooks and notes she had packed up, feeling a little lost. So, her high school life was over just like that? She felt a strange emptiness.
She was not like others, not the type to focus only on studying. Because of her parents’ way of raising her, she had always just tried her best without forcing herself too much. Even when she saw the countdown to the college entrance exam written on the blackboard, she only felt a little urgency, but she didn’t really worry.
Everything changed three months ago.
It was a day with bright skies and clear air.
