- Chapter 25 - My Girlfriend Is Too Good at Attracting Attention
The two of them didn’t go back to the hotel. They went straight to the beach.
Yu Xinxin thought, “I didn’t bring a swimsuit, and I can’t swim anyway. There’s no point in going back. I might as well go feel the soft sand right away.”
Wei Zhi did bring a swimsuit, but seeing how excited Yu Xinxin was, she just followed along.
Ten minutes later.
Yu Xinxin finally stepped on the beach like she had wished. It felt just like she imagined—soft, fluffy, and very comfortable.
Yu Xinxin was as happy as a little kid. She felt the fine, shiny sand wrapping around her feet. When the waves came and went, the sand under her toes was slowly pulled away by the water. Her balance wobbled, so she quickly reached out and grabbed the person next to her.
Feeling her arm grabbed, Wei Zhi turned her head and smiled with her eyes.
Yu Xinxin’s eyes were bright and sparkling like she just got a new toy. She was excited and full of energy, but she couldn’t walk steadily. She clung tightly to Wei Zhi’s arm. Sometimes happy, sometimes awkward, her shaky steps looked like a toddler learning to walk—holding on tightly to their mother.
Wei Zhi was amused by her own sudden thought and held back a laugh.
“What are you laughing at?” Yu Xinxin gave her a fierce look.
Yu Xinxin thought: She must be making fun of me. Bad person.
Wei Zhi: I wasn’t. I’m innocent.
Wei Zhi reached out and held Yu Xinxin’s hand. They switched positions—Wei Zhi walked on the outside, and Yu Xinxin on the inner side of the beach. Though she was still a bit unsteady, she felt much safer.
The waves rolled in and out, and now and then they spotted colorful seashells.
Wei Zhi wore a long dress today. The sea breeze blew gently, and the light fabric clung to her skin, showing off her slim and toned figure. It caught the attention of many around them.
Yu Xinxin focused on the sand under her feet. Her pant legs got wet, and so did the hem of Wei Zhi’s dress. The sticky sand clung to her straight, smooth calves. Wei Zhi walked barefoot in the water, calm and slow. Her pale, soft feet and pretty toes looked even more delicate after being washed by the sea. They sank into the sand, then lifted again—one deep, one shallow—moving lightly, as if following some unknown rhythm, tapping gently on Yu Xinxin’s heart, beat by beat.
Yu Xinxin felt her heart tighten and her throat dry. She turned her head and glanced at the crowd.
“Excuse me, can you help us take a picture?” a boy asked shyly. Another boy stood next to him—it looked like they came together.
Wei Zhi didn’t speak. Her expression was cold.
The boy looked awkward—he had asked the question to Wei Zhi.
“Sure,” Yu Xinxin answered and took the camera. The awkward look on the boy’s face disappeared.
The two boys stood with the sea behind them and struck a pose. Yu Xinxin took several photos so they could choose their favorite.
When she was done, she returned the camera and turned to leave.
“Thanks.”
The boy took the camera, his eyes lingering on Wei Zhi’s face, unable to hide his amazement.
Yu Xinxin frowned but didn’t say anything.
“Are you here for fun too?” the boy asked. “Do you want me to take a photo of you? I’m good at it.”
Wei Zhi’s face looked a little impatient. “No need.”
The boy’s eyes lit up, and he kept talking. “Did you come together just the two of you? We did too. If you don’t mind, we could hang out.”
As he spoke, his eyes were stuck on Wei Zhi. He couldn’t look away even if he tried.
Yu Xinxin: “…” Why does this suddenly feel a bit creepy?
“No need,” Wei Zhi said coldly.
Suddenly, Yu Xinxin felt an arm around her shoulders. Before she could react, someone pulled her closer. She fell right into a familiar embrace again.
Yu Xinxin: Why does this scene feel so familiar?
“My girlfriend and I don’t like being disturbed,” Wei Zhi said, her voice icy.
The two boys froze. They were speechless for a long moment.
Wei Zhi ignored them and walked on with Yu Xinxin.
Yu Xinxin had every reason to believe she did that on purpose. From yesterday to today—if it wasn’t touching, it was kissing. What’s she going to do next?
Yu Xinxin pulled her arm away from Wei Zhi’s and marched ahead with firm steps—not at all like the unsteady walk from before.
