- Chapter 29 - The Feeling in Her Heart Was Stronger Than Reason
Yu Xinxin noticed something strange on her lips and opened her eyes.
A pair of smiling eyes looked back at her. Her body moved back on instinct, wanting to change their position, but Wei Zhi reached out her right hand, gently passed it behind Yu Xinxin’s ear, and held the back of her neck before she could move. Yu Xinxin’s attempt to retreat was stopped.
She let out a muffled sound and pushed Wei Zhi away. Wei Zhi leaned back a little from the push. Yu Xinxin finally got a moment to breathe. She was just about to speak, but Wei Zhi’s lips came down again, slipping past her parted teeth, moving deeper with a gentle rhythm. She softly tasted the sweetness of the girl. Their breaths slowly mixed together until it was hard to tell who was who.
Yu Xinxin’s mind was a mess. Her heart was racing. Wei Zhi’s presence felt a little overwhelming. Her soft tongue tangled with Yu Xinxin’s, as if inviting her to join a dance full of desire. A hint of struggle flashed in Yu Xinxin’s eyes, then her gaze became hazy.
The air in her chest was taken away. A feeling of suffocation hit her, pulling her back to her senses. Too late, she began to struggle.
Wei Zhi narrowed her eyes, showing a bit of dissatisfaction. She wrapped her arm around Yu Xinxin’s waist, locking her in her embrace. When she felt the body in her arms slowly go soft, she curled her lips with satisfaction. She let her desire grow freely. The sweet scent around her nose kept filling the air, slowly wearing down her fragile reason.
The air inside the car became more and more warm, and it started to feel harder to breathe.
Yu Xinxin’s eyes were misty, her gaze lost. Her mind floated between awake and unaware. Just before she completely gave in, the suffocating feeling came again. A flicker of clarity showed in her eyes, and she bit down hard.
Wei Zhi felt the pain and snapped out of it. When she saw Yu Xinxin’s face wasn’t looking right, she pulled back.
Yu Xinxin pushed her away and quickly took a few deep breaths of fresh air. Her face burned like fire. Her brain, short on oxygen, felt dizzy and confused.
Wei Zhi looked a little uneasy. Her face turned red. She reached out a hand to help Yu Xinxin breathe easier. She had only wanted to kiss her—she didn’t expect things to go this far…
After a while, Yu Xinxin finally calmed down. She was very angry. She pushed Wei Zhi’s hand away. Her lips were a little red and swollen, standing out clearly against her pale face.
Wei Zhi was ready for this. Before Yu Xinxin could say anything, she quickly said, “You were the one who kissed me first this time.”
Yu Xinxin got even angrier. “You—”
“One month from now, can I tell people we’re together?” Wei Zhi interrupted again.
Yu Xinxin went silent. She worked hard to control her emotions. Just now, she had followed Wei Zhi like she was under a spell, slowly falling. A strange feeling rose from her chest and overwhelmed her reason. It was dizzying, tangled.
She touched her burning cheeks. That feeling… she had never felt it before.
Wei Zhi saw her quiet and thought she was angry. She felt regret—blaming herself for losing control.
Yu Xinxin’s head was still a mess. She didn’t feel like talking. She knew she couldn’t win in an argument anyway. That strange feeling in her heart kept circling around. She let out a sigh and gave in. “Just drive.”
Wei Zhi was surprised. She thought Yu Xinxin would at least say something to let out her anger. But after those words, she stayed quiet. The air in the car became a bit heavy.
Wei Zhi started to panic.
“I’m sorry,” she said.
Yu Xinxin was still trying to sort out her thoughts. When she heard Wei Zhi’s voice, her eyes looked toward her. Wei Zhi had her head down. Her cold and clear face looked like it was covered in fog, all gray and distant. Yu Xinxin’s heart tightened slightly. She didn’t want to see her like this.
“I’m not mad. My mind is just all over the place,” Yu Xinxin said. Her voice was soft and weak.
Wei Zhi still felt unsure. Yu Xinxin’s face looked tired and low in spirit. She wanted to say something to make her feel better. But after thinking for a while, she didn’t know what to say, so she gave up.
Wei Zhi didn’t know what was wrong with her either. The moment their lips touched, she had clearly felt the shock in her heart and the strong desire for the girl in front of her. She couldn’t control herself. She just wanted more. Everything about Yu Xinxin was like a poppy flower—beautiful and addictive. Once she touched her, she couldn’t stop.
But what if the girl she loved never liked her back? What would she do then?
Would she let her go?
Or would she lock her by her side forever?
The thought had barely come up when Wei Zhi forced it away. How could she think like that? A bright and beautiful star should hang in the sky. It shouldn’t be trapped.
The car started again. Wei Zhi took a moment to sort out her messy thoughts, then forced herself to focus on the steering wheel in front of her.
The two-hour drive was silent. Both girls had heavy thoughts in their hearts. Neither of them said a word.
