The Cold Goddess Always Wants to Turn Me Gay (GL) - Chapter 30 - Let’s Break Up
The dishes were served quickly. Yu Xinxin picked up a wrapper, wrapped a piece of duck meat, and put it into her mouth. The taste was rich and fragrant. Her eyes curved into little crescents, and her small mouth moved gently. She looked like she was enjoying it very much.
Not bad. Wei Zhi really knew how to pick a place!
Yu Xinxin had a few bites and then noticed Wei Zhi hadn’t touched her chopsticks at all. Curious, she looked up. Wei Zhi was frowning and staring at her phone. If you looked closely, you’d see her eyes had no focus, but were filled with coldness and deep hatred.
Yu Xinxin suddenly felt a sharp pain in her heart. A strange sadness and despair filled her chest—but it didn’t seem to be hers. It came from the person sitting in front of her. She wanted to say something, but it was like someone was pricking her heart with tiny needles. The pain made it hard to speak.
“Wei Zhi,” she called softly. She couldn’t bear to see her like this.
That gentle voice echoed in her ears. Someone was calling her. Wei Zhi looked up. She didn’t know when Yu Xinxin had started looking at her, but now her eyes were filled with concern. They were bright and clear, but now covered with a thin mist, like stars behind a cloudy sky. Wei Zhi’s gaze dimmed, then she forced a gentle smile.
“How does it taste?” she asked.
Yu Xinxin frowned. The pain in her chest didn’t go away just because Wei Zhi smiled. In fact, it hurt even more. She could tell Wei Zhi didn’t want to talk about what had just happened. Somehow, the delicious roast duck didn’t taste so good anymore. But she still took another bite and replied, “It’s pretty good.”
Wei Zhi set her phone aside. “Then eat more.”
She picked up her chopsticks and tried a bite. Not bad—it should suit Yu Xinxin’s taste.
Yu Xinxin didn’t say anything. She scooped a bowl of soup and sipped it slowly with her head down.
The meal was quiet. Wei Zhi seemed distracted, and Yu Xinxin’s heart ached for some reason.
After dinner, they drove home together. Wei Zhi had mostly calmed down, but Yu Xinxin stayed silent the whole way. The air in the car felt heavy. Wei Zhi thought she might still be upset about what happened earlier. She regretted not controlling herself better.
By the time they got home, it was already past ten. Yu Xinxin grabbed her clothes and went to shower. Wei Zhi sighed and went to the bedroom. Then she suddenly remembered—there was only one set of bedding in the house.
She thought of how Yu Xinxin must be feeling right now. Her head hurt just thinking about it. She opened the closet and found only a thin blanket. It would have to do. She placed the blanket on the sofa, ready to sleep there for the night.
When Yu Xinxin came out of the bathroom, she saw Wei Zhi sitting on the sofa, lost in thought. She walked over and sat beside her.
The seat sank slightly. Wei Zhi came back to her senses and looked at her. The girl next to her was still damp from the shower. Her whole body looked soft and a little sleepy. Her eyes drooped, and she seemed so tired.
Wei Zhi felt a sudden tightness in her chest. That thought from earlier came back—what if Yu Xinxin never liked her? What would she do then?
“I’m going to shower. You… you should go to sleep early,” Wei Zhi said. She paused. “I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight.”
Her voice was low. After saying that, she got up and left.
Yu Xinxin watched her walk into the bathroom. For some reason, she felt annoyed. Her hand, resting on the sofa, clenched slightly. Then she saw the thin blanket.
It was already October. The weather was getting cold, and the northern city had cooled down even more in the past few days. Could Wei Zhi get sick sleeping with just that?
After a moment of thought, she picked up the blanket and took it back to the bedroom, placing it back into the closet. Then she dried her hair, tidied the bed, and sat down. She thought about how, just a few mornings ago, she had woken up in this very bed with Wei Zhi. She had been lying all over her.
Her expression softened. A faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips, and the pain in her heart didn’t feel so heavy anymore.
When Wei Zhi came out of the bathroom, she noticed the thin blanket on the sofa was gone. She felt confused and glanced at the bedroom door. After hesitating, she walked over.
Her hand touched the doorknob. Just as she was about to open it, she stopped, as if remembering something. She let go, then knocked gently.
“Xinxin, I’m coming in.”
There was no sound from inside. She frowned and pushed the door open.
Yu Xinxin was sitting by the bed. Her face looked soft, and there was still a smile on her lips.
The tight string in Wei Zhi’s heart finally loosened. The coldness in her eyes faded, replaced by a light smile. The heavy feeling in her chest disappeared.
