- Chapter 35: The Soft, Tingly Sensation Between Lips
Wei Zhi frowned, eyeing Yu Xin Xin suspiciously. There had been plenty of reactions before—had she overdone it this time? She mentally reviewed her earlier pose. Nothing seemed off.
Her gaze lingered on Yu Xin Xin, searching for any sign of weakness. Yu Xin Xin was combing her fingers through her hair, and Wei Zhi’s eyes fixed on those slender, slightly stubby fingers. A sudden thought struck her—could it be…?
Her expression turned wistful, a mix of regret and something unreadable.
Yu Xin Xin noticed the look and, suppressing the vein throbbing at her temple, slowly approached. Her bright eyes locked onto Wei Zhi as the distance between them shrank. She leaned in, a sly smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
The sweet scent of her filled the air, and Wei Zhi stared, heart fluttering. Did the seduction finally work?
A soft, pale hand grazed Wei Zhi’s smooth jaw, trailing down her slender neck. Wei Zhi’s throat tightened, skin tingling under the touch, her gaze turning dazed. Yu Xin Xin watched as the flawless, snow-like skin before her flushed pink, and she unconsciously licked her lips. Wei Zhi’s pupils dilated, fixated on that fleeting, teasing flicker of tongue.
Yu Xin Xin’s fingers pinched the robe’s collar, her smirk turning mischievous. Seizing the moment of distraction, she yanked the robe tight—tying the belt into an unyielding knot before stepping back, satisfied with her handiwork.
Wei Zhi, now resembling a tightly wrapped silkworm cocoon, blinked dumbly at the smug Yu Xin Xin. After a few seconds, she sputtered, “Y-You—!”
“Me what? Serves you right,” Yu Xin Xin retorted mercilessly.
Wei Zhi was at a loss for words until the earlier epiphany resurfaced. Without thinking, she blurted, “Are you just… not into this?” Her tone was sharp, the words crystal clear in the silent room.
The air froze.
Realizing what she’d said, Wei Zhi wanted to vanish into the floor. But she tried to salvage her dignity, muttering, “The belt’s too tight. This isn’t… ideal.”
Yu Xin Xin’s temple throbbed even more violently. This person had taken advantage of her several times already, and now they had the audacity to spout such nonsense. Damn it, who was the one who couldn’t handle it?
Watching Yu Xin Xin’s expression shift repeatedly, Wei Zhi felt a pang of fear. Just as she was about to say something conciliatory, a shadow fell over her vision, and soft lips captured hers.
The sensation between their lips was incredibly tender, like a gentle spring breeze brushing against her heart, sending waves of tingling warmth through her. Yu Xin Xin’s head spun slightly, her eyes widening in disbelief. What on earth was she doing?
Wei Zhi reacted quickly this time, her eyes brimming with amusement. Her nimble tongue flicked between their lips—so sweet.
An electric sensation burst between their lips, and Yu Xin Xin hastily pulled away, her cheeks burning. The lingering tingle on her lips made her legs weak, and she collapsed onto the sofa, covering her face in frustration.
Wei Zhi nearly jumped for joy but forced herself to stay composed to spare Yu Xin Xin further embarrassment. She shifted closer, peering at the other girl’s ears, now so red they seemed about to bleed. Unable to resist, she teased, “Xin Xin, were you in a hurry?”
The words only added fuel to the already awkward atmosphere. Yu Xin Xin’s face flushed even darker. Shooting a glare at Wei Zhi’s infuriatingly smug face, she turned and fled into the bedroom.
Left alone in the living room, Wei Zhi savored the moment, her expression lingering with satisfaction. How could her Xin Xin be so adorable? It was downright unfair.
After sitting on the sofa for over ten minutes, she rubbed her stiff cheeks from smiling too much and reassessed the situation. The seduction route was definitely the right direction—she needed to commit to it firmly. With that thought, her grin returned, and she rubbed her sore cheeks again.
Yu Xin Xin lay on the bed, pressing her hands to her still-scorching face before burying her head under the blankets. She must have lost her mind—absolutely lost it. Suddenly, she bolted upright, her smooth hair now a tangled mess. A horrifying realization struck her—had she just… turned? Just like that? No way. No way. She must have been out of her mind earlier.
“Damn Wei Zhi,” she muttered angrily. “Why does she always have to tease me?”
A knock sounded at the bedroom door, followed by Wei Zhi’s voice. “Xin Xin, open up. It’s getting late—we should sleep.”
Yu Xin Xin’s mind short-circuited. Sleep? Sleep how? What else was she planning?
Panicked, she paced around the room, gnawing her nails down to stubs.
When the door didn’t open, Wei Zhi’s smile deepened. She adopted a pitiful tone. “If you don’t open the door, I’ll have to sleep on the sofa. Sigh… I just had a huge fight with my family, and now I’m all alone again.”
The sorrow in her voice sounded genuine. Yu Xin Xin’s overheated brain cooled slightly as she recalled Wei Zhi’s earlier heartbroken sobs. Softening, she spritzed her face with moisturizer several times until the burning subsided. Mustering her courage, she finally opened the door.
Wei Zhi walked in with an inscrutable expression, as if she had truly sunk back into her previous sorrow. Seeing this, Yu Xin Xin felt a pang of worry, along with a faint trace of regret.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. It’s getting late, let’s sleep early,” Wei Zhi replied softly, though her eyes were bright.
She pulled the blanket over herself, curling up like a kitten licking its wounds alone. Yu Xin Xin’s heart ached as if squeezed, a dull, lingering pain. She turned off the light and lay down on the other side of the bed.
In the darkness, Wei Zhi covered her mouth to stifle a rising smile, afraid she might laugh out loud. Instead, she ended up trembling from holding it in.
Just as Yu Xin Xin closed her eyes, she noticed Wei Zhi’s strange movements. Worried that she might be crying again, she hesitated for a moment before inching closer until their shoulders touched. Wei Zhi was puzzled by Yu Xin Xin’s action, but before she could say anything, she felt slender arms wrap tightly around her waist.
Turning instinctively, Wei Zhi found herself pressed against a warm body. A hand slid up her back, gently cradling her head and guiding it to rest against Yu Xin Xin’s neck. A soft voice murmured above her, “It’s okay now. Sleep well.”
Wei Zhi froze, then realization dawned. Her heart softened, overwhelmed by an indescribable warmth that soothed the hidden pain within. She wrapped her arms around Yu Xin Xin in return, pressing her cheek against the other’s collarbone, breathing in her sweet scent. For the first time in a while, her mind settled into peace. How could she ever let go of someone so tender?
Feeling the person in her arms relax, Yu Xin Xin gently ruffled Wei Zhi’s hair, resting her chin against her forehead before closing her eyes. May tonight bring sweet dreams.
“Let’s go back to school tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
