The Cold Goddess Always Wants to Turn Me Gay (GL) - Chapter 41: Are You Two Dating?
Zhou Tong tilted her head, watching the two of them. The more she looked, the weirder it seemed. Wei Zhi was the one being attacked, so why was Yu Xin Xin the one being comforted? And why was she herself getting more and more excited?
“You can get the post taken down?” Yu Xin Xin suppressed the ache in her chest.
“It’s nothing serious, so don’t cry.” Wei Zhi’s gaze lingered on Yu Xin Xin’s slightly reddened eyes, her fingertips brushing unconsciously against the delicate corner of the other girl’s eye.
“But…”
“Are you two dating?” Zhou Tong blurted out, finally realizing what had been bothering her—Wei Zhi’s tone was exactly how someone would comfort their girlfriend!
Yu Xin Xin, who had been crying buckets, abruptly stopped, all the subtle emotions she had been building up vanishing in an instant.
Yu Xin Xin: Did she figure it out? What do I do?
Wei Zhi: Did she figure it out? Perfect!!
Her gaze toward Zhou Tong even carried a hint of appreciation.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Yu Xin Xin quickly interjected, seizing the initiative—who knew what Wei Zhi might say otherwise?
“No? But it really seems like it. Maybe you two should consider each other.” Zhou Tong egged them on, though she quickly dismissed the idea—Wei Zhi already had a boyfriend. Guess she was just seeing things through a shipper’s lens.
Yu Xin Xin exhaled slowly, steadying her racing heart.
“Stop joking around. Wei Zhi is already taken,” Yu Xin Xin muttered weakly, avoiding Wei Zhi’s eyes.
“Yeah, Zhou Tong, if you keep saying stuff like that, my partner won’t be happy,” Wei Zhi gritted out, glaring at Yu Xin Xin like she wanted to bite her in frustration.
Yu Xin Xin shrank back, forcing an awkward laugh before retreating to sit sideways on a chair.
Zhou Tong ducked her head—Wei Zhi had looked a little scary just now. She hadn’t meant any harm; their chemistry was just too good to ignore.
“I’m going out to make a call.” Wei Zhi sighed in resignation. The wife she chose, she had to spoil—no getting angry.
At the end of each floor of the girls’ dormitory was a window. Since it was mealtime, the hallway was empty.
Wei Zhi stood by the window, pulling out her phone to dial a number. The call connected almost instantly.
“What can I do for you, Miss?” The voice on the other end was deferential.
“Has this year’s sponsorship for Jiang University been processed yet?” Wei Zhi frowned.
“It’s undergoing final review.”
“Put it on hold for now.” She rubbed her temples.
“Understood…”
“… …”
At the same time, another call was transferred to the office of Jiang University’s president. As the voice on the line spoke, President Lin’s frown deepened, his expression growing darker. Once the caller finished, he responded stiffly, “My apologies for this incident. Our university will place greater emphasis on student conduct moving forward.”
After hanging up, President Lin’s face was stormy. He logged into the school forum, where a pinned post at the top of the page glared back at him. He had just been informed that Wei Corporation had suspended funding for a research project, citing “problematic campus culture” as the reason. Clicking on the post, the moment he saw the stunningly beautiful face in the photo, he nearly laughed in disbelief. Now he understood why they had called the school’s culture into question—who in the world could afford to “keep” the Wei heiress, and who would even dare?
No wonder Principal Lin was so angry. The school’s research project was at a critical juncture, and funding absolutely couldn’t be cut off. The results of this project would even affect next year’s national university rankings. The problem was that this research was extremely expensive. Without Wei Corporation’s sponsorship, the research would likely be suspended. Moreover, the school had other collaborations with Wei Corporation. Losing such a partner would be a huge blow to the university.
Yu Xin Xin watched as the dorm door closed and glared fiercely at Zhou Tong. “What kind of joke was that?”
“Hey, I just think you two would make a great couple, so I said it outright!” Zhou Tong stuck her head back out, speaking nonchalantly.
“But how can two girls be together?” Yu Xin Xin vehemently denied it, though she wasn’t sure if she was trying to convince Zhou Tong or herself.
“What kind of outdated thinking is that? It’s the modern age—love is free, don’t you know? In many countries, same-s3x marriage is legal. Pure love between girls is the most beautiful thing.” Zhou Tong’s eyes sparkled with fangirl excitement.
Listening to Zhou Tong’s words, Yu Xin Xin fell into thought. Could same-s3x relationships really have a future?
Zhou Tong fantasized about pure romance for a moment, then turned back to see Yu Xin Xin lost in thought. A mischievous grin spread across her face. “Why don’t you try dating a girl, Xin Xin? You’re so soft and cute—I bet you’d be really popular with the older girls.”
Yu Xin Xin: I already have a girlfriend, but it doesn’t feel particularly special.
“Why don’t you go find one yourself?” Yu Xin Xin rolled her eyes at her.
“Don’t talk nonsense! I have my idol.” Zhou Tong immediately shut the idea down.
Zhou Tong loved gossip and chasing celebrities. Recently, she had fallen hard for a boy band, obsessing over them day and night. During the National Day holiday, she had even gone to their concert.
Seeing her hugging a poster and fangirling again, Yu Xin Xin ignored her and opened her laptop. She scrolled through the comments under a post—people were saying all sorts of things, and the more she read, the angrier she got. It had been a while since she had argued with anyone online; she wondered if her skills had dulled.
…
She dragged Zhou Tong along, happily firing off retorts, not noticing a figure approaching from behind.
“Goddess Wei is beautiful and radiant—you’re all just jealous.”
“A bunch of single losers, sitting behind your screens and stirring up drama. If you’ve got the guts, go find a girlfriend yourselves.”
“No wonder there’s so much nonsense—must be idiots out for a stroll.”
“If you’ve got no brain, stay home. Coming out to embarrass yourself is just wrong.”
“…”
Wei Zhi watched Yu Xin Xin’s fingers flying across the keyboard for a while, then shifted her gaze to the screen. Her expression shifted from disbelief to acceptance, and finally to smug satisfaction, as if to say: My wife is amazing.
“I had no idea Xin Xin was so good at arguing.” Wei Zhi spoke up suddenly, her eyes overflowing with tenderness.
Yu Xin Xin froze, quickly snapping her laptop shut. Her eyes darted around nervously before landing on Zhou Tong, who was also stunned. “It was Zhou Tong’s idea—I just typed it out!”
“Huh—?” Zhou Tong looked utterly confused, but before she could say anything, Yu Xin Xin shoved her aside.
“Anyway, I’m hungry. Let’s order takeout.” Yu Xin Xin hurriedly changed the subject.
Wei Zhi thought of the phrase “Goddess Wei is as beautiful as a flower,” and her heart was so happy it felt like overflowing with honey. She stopped teasing Yu Xin Xin, took out her phone, and asked what they wanted to eat. Although she didn’t care about how people online judged her, it was clear Yu Xin Xin cared deeply—otherwise, she wouldn’t have cried earlier. Going out now would be unwise, but fortunately, the issue should be resolved soon.
After ordering, Zhou Tong continued her online crusade against the haters. Yu Xin Xin also wanted to join in, but with Wei Zhi present, she felt it necessary to maintain her ladylike image.
The rapid clatter of keyboard strokes rose and fell as Zhou Tong typed at full speed, thoroughly enjoying her battle mode.
Yu Xin Xin sat idly, eyes wandering between her nose and the floor—which seemed a bit dirty. Maybe she should mop it.
Wei Zhi watched Yu Xin Xin, who looked like a guilty child, behaving so obediently it was almost excessive. The more she looked, the more she adored her. Remembering how Yu Xin Xin had fiercely typed earlier, her heart softened, yet a fuzzy, restless claw seemed to scratch at her chest, making her unbearably restless.
She stood up, walked over, and leaned down, her red lips brushing against Yu Xin Xin’s ear as she whispered, “Xin Xin, you were so cute earlier. I loved it.”
Her heart skipped a beat.
The sudden intimacy made Yu Xin Xin stiffen. She could feel Wei Zhi’s closeness, the faint warmth of her breath grazing the sensitive skin of her neck. Her fair cheeks instantly flushed red. Annoyed, she pushed Wei Zhi away and shot her a reproachful glare, whispering, “Zhou Tong is still here.”
Wei Zhi’s eyes darkened with unreadable emotion. “So, if Zhou Tong weren’t here, it’d be fine?”
