The Cold Goddess Always Wants to Turn Me Gay (GL) - Chapter 49: Bathing Together
Wei Zhi’s expression softened as she looked at Yu Xin Xin with an amused smile.
Yu Xin Xin felt apprehensive, sensing something mischievous in Wei Zhi’s gaze, but then thought: With so many people around, what’s there to fear?
“So Xin Xin likes me in her heart, does she?” Wei Zhi lowered her voice, the tone cool yet irresistibly alluring, speaking words only the two of them could hear.
Yu Xin Xin’s heart trembled. She wanted to refute, but as she met those cool, gleaming eyes, the denial stuck in her throat. Her instincts told her that if she dared say “no,” the consequences would be dire.
“What do you want to eat later? Since your stomach is sensitive, I’ll cook for you personally?” Yu Xin Xin attempted to change the subject.
Wei Zhi raised an eyebrow, dissatisfied with Yu Xin Xin’s evasive attitude. After glancing at the people around them, she ultimately suppressed what she wanted to say.
Yu Xin Xin sighed inwardly with relief, genuinely afraid the other might say something outrageous again.
“What are you looking at?” Meng Jia Jia followed Pan Yue’s gaze and immediately spotted Wei Zhi, who was drawing attention even in the corner. Her smile faded slightly as she remarked casually: “Wei Zhi seems very close with Yu Xin Xin. I often see them sticking together.”
As expected, Pan Yue’s expression darkened. Remembering how Wei Zhi had regifted his flowers to Yu Xin Xin, a suspicion began forming in his mind.
“Their relationship is indeed unusually close,” he said meaningfully, watching the undisguised tenderness in Wei Zhi’s eyes.
Once everyone had arrived, under the class monitor’s lead, the group moved to a hotel lawn specially designated for guest barbecues. The grilling equipment was rented, while most ingredients were provided by the hotel with some brought by the students themselves.
Everyone worked together to set up the barbecue grill and arrange the tables and chairs. Soon, the aroma of food wafted through the air. Yu Xinxin brought a plate of freshly grilled food to Wei Zhi’s side.
“These are all without chili. You should be able to eat them.”
Wei Zhi’s lips curved into a smile. “Did you grill these especially for me?”
“Of course!” Yu Xinxin said. “A limited-edition barbecue skewer tailored just for you.”
Wei Zhi was satisfied and picked up a skewer to savor slowly.
Zhou Tong, who had been waiting for a while, watched with longing eyes as Wei Zhi guarded the food like a protective barrier. Despite her efforts, she couldn’t snatch even a single skewer from the plate. Frustrated, she glared at the two of them. Clearly, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
After everyone had eaten their fill, the class monitor directed the group to clean up and announced that the rest of the time was free for leisure activities, reminding everyone to stay safe.
Zhou Tong was still upset about the barbecue incident and went off to play with other classmates. Yu Xinxin felt a bit wronged—she hadn’t expected Wei Zhi to be so possessive over the food.
This was one of Jiangcheng’s more popular scenic spots. Besides the hot springs, which were the main attraction, the surrounding scenery was also quite beautiful. Wei Zhi and Yu Xinxin strolled along a shaded mountain path, gazing at the faint outline of the city below, their minds at ease.
Yu Xinxin eagerly pulled Wei Zhi into taking many photos together. At first, she was enthusiastic, but by the end, as she scrolled through the pictures on her phone, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of defeat. No matter the angle, Wei Zhi looked flawlessly perfect, while her own face beside her seemed… less so. Comparing the two was downright disheartening.
Wei Zhi, oblivious to the silent critique: “???”
Why does Xinxin look at me with such resentment?
After a long afternoon of exploring, Yu Xinxin grew tired and tugged at Wei Zhi, suggesting they head back to soak in the hot springs. As the elevator doors slowly opened, Yu Xinxin stepped forward—only to be blocked by an overly refined face. She froze, staring at the newcomer, a sense of foreboding creeping into her heart.
“Well, well! What a coincidence.” Gu Mingxi’s lips curled into a smile. “Little Xinxin, why haven’t you contacted me? I’ve been waiting for you.”
Yu Xinxin shuddered, instinctively moving closer to Wei Zhi. Wei Zhi pulled her protectively behind her and glared coldly at Gu Mingxi. “What are you doing here?”
Gu Mingxi observed Wei Zhi’s defensive stance, her eyes turning icy, though her smile remained. “Oh? Here on vacation with your girlfriend?” Tsk. Every time they met, Wei Zhi had that same frigid expression. She was much cuter as a child.
“None of your business. Why are you here?” Wei Zhi pressed again. Gu Mingxi’s sudden appearance couldn’t mean anything good.
Glancing at Yu Xinxin, Gu Mingxi’s eyes flickered mischievously as she replied ambiguously, “Isn’t it because of you that I’m so exhausted? Hence, a little vacation.” If Wei Zhi hadn’t interfered, she wouldn’t have had to spend twice the amount to acquire that tech company.
Yu Xinxin frowned, discomfort stirring within her.
Wei Zhi quickly pieced together the meaning behind her words. Earlier, the Gu Group had planned to acquire a tech company. To divert Gu Mingxi’s attention away from Yu Xinxin, Wei Zhi had deliberately thrown the struggling company a lifeline, forcing Gu Mingxi to expend extra effort—and money—to complete the acquisition.
“You came all the way here just to vacation?” Wei Zhi remained skeptical.
“The scenery here is lovely. Can’t I visit?”
“In that case, I won’t disturb you any further,” Wei Zhi said. “Xin Xin, let’s go back to our room.” With a protective arm around Yu Xinxin, Wei Zhi stepped into the elevator—her stance making her intentions unmistakable.
“So protective of your girlfriend? Better keep a close eye on her then.” Then, turning to Yu Xinxin with a smile, she added, “Little Xinxin, what’s so great about this ice block Wei Zhi? My offer still stands, remember to contact me.”
The atmosphere in the elevator grew tense.
“What did Gu Mingxi say to you earlier?” Wei Zhi asked.
Yu Xinxin shrank slightly under her cold gaze, hesitating before answering, “She, she…” How could she explain that Gu Mingxi had confessed to liking her?
“What did she say?” Wei Zhi’s voice was icy.
Startled, Yu Xinxin squeezed her eyes shut and blurted out, “She said she likes me and told me to leave you.”
Wei Zhi raised an eyebrow—just as she’d suspected, Gu Mingxi had shown up here deliberately. “And what did you say?”
Yu Xinxin sensed this was a make-or-break question and scrambled for the right response.
“Hmm?” Wei Zhi’s drawn-out hum carried a dangerous edge. Recognizing her anger, Yu Xinxin swallowed hard and admitted, “I sent her away.”
Wei Zhi’s expression softened, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at her lips. “Good job.” After a pause, she added firmly, “Remember, Gu Mingxi is dangerous. Stay away from her. Don’t engage with anything she says or does.”
“Okay,” Yu Xinxin agreed obediently. Seeing Wei Zhi’s mood lighten, she gathered the courage to ask, “What’s your relationship with Gu Mingxi?”
Wei Zhi’s face tensed again before she sighed softly. Meeting Yu Xinxin’s gaze, she replied, “She’s my cousin.”
The weight in Yu Xinxin’s chest lifted—almost unconsciously, the tension in her nerves eased the moment Wei Zhi spoke, and her mood inexplicably brightened.
Back in their hotel room, Yu Xinxin wrinkled her nose at the sweat clinging to her skin and tugged Wei Zhi toward the hot springs.
Wei Zhi, still lost in thought, couldn’t refuse under Yu Xinxin’s eager gaze. After changing into robes, they headed to the first floor.
The hotel offered both large communal pools and private ones. When Wei Zhi saw the crowded public pool, her temple twitched. Though spacious enough to accommodate the crowd, what unsettled her was the mixed-gender setup. Having never shared a bath with strangers—let alone in such a mixed group—she glanced at Yu Xinxin, her expression darkening further. There was no way she’d let her girlfriend soak in such a chaotic environment.
With a frosty expression, she pulled Yu Xinxin away. Too intimidated to speak, Yu Xinxin followed silently. Wei Zhi approached a staff member and booked a private pool—a secluded courtyard lush with greenery, offering serene privacy.
Wei Zhi nodded in satisfaction, untied her bathrobe, and stepped inside. Seeing the other’s relaxed expression, Yu Xin Xin felt reassured and followed her in.
Hearing the sound of Yu Xin Xin entering the water, Wei Zhi’s previously composed demeanor instantly tensed up. The steam in the pool lingered, and whether it was the heat or something else on her mind, Wei Zhi’s cheeks flushed a deep red.
Yu Xin Xin stared blankly at the other’s dazzlingly fair skin and the slender neck exposed, her heart skipping a beat. After a moment, she suppressed the strange feeling in her chest and noticed Wei Zhi’s ears, which were almost dripping with redness. She wondered: Is the water in the pool really that steamy?
