- Chapter 55: Confession—I Want to Be Your Real...
Yu Xinxin, left behind, let out a restless whimper. Through the frosted glass, her dazed eyes caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. Instinctively, she stood up and stumbled toward the bathroom, pressing against the door and gripping the handle, but no matter how hard she pushed, it wouldn’t budge.
Wei Zhi heard the commotion and looked up. The bathtub was already more than half full—it should be enough. She turned off the cold water tap, hesitated for a moment, then turned on the hot water. Estimating that the water in the tub wouldn’t be cold enough to harm anyone, she finally shut off the hot water as well.
The door swung open, and Yu Xin Xin threw herself into Wei Zhi’s arms, seeking her lips in a fervent kiss. Wei Zhi had been prepared. She wrapped an arm around Yu Xin Xin’s waist and slowly guided her toward the bathtub.
Yu Xin Xin was even more desperate now than before, as if she wanted to crush Wei Zhi into her very being, never to be separated again.
The sweet taste lingered between their lips, intensified by the heat, intoxicating them further. Wei Zhi’s heart pounded wildly as she indulged in the fervent exchange, sucking and tangling with Yu Xin Xin’s tongue. Just as she was about to lose control, she mustered the last of her willpower and turned her head away, breaking the suffocatingly deep kiss.
Deprived of the soft lips she adored, Yu Xin Xin shifted her attention to Wei Zhi’s delicate neck, nuzzling, licking, and biting before moving upward to capture the already flushed earlobe, nibbling and teasing it with her tongue.
Wei Zhi’s chest heaved heavily. Suppressing Yu Xin Xin’s increasingly heated advances, she finally managed to guide her near the bathtub. Bending down, she scooped Yu Xin Xin up and carefully lowered her into the water.
The slightly cool water pricked against Yu Xin Xin’s skin, making her stiffen for a moment. Wei Zhi glanced at her—the dazed look in Yu Xin Xin’s eyes seemed to flicker briefly before clouding over again with desire. She looped her arms around Wei Zhi’s neck and pulled her into another kiss.
Wei Zhi sighed and tried to hold her still. In the struggle, Yu Xin Xin choked on a few mouthfuls of water, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at Wei Zhi with a pitiful expression, her gaze brimming with affection.
Wei Zhi’s heart clenched. Just as the last thread of her restraint was about to snap, she took a few steps back, breathing heavily.
With her target gone, Yu Xin Xin slumped weakly, drowsily swallowing more water.
Alarmed, Wei Zhi quickly pulled her up. Resigned, she sighed and stepped into the bathtub herself, settling Yu Xin Xin onto her lap to prevent her from slipping under again. The cool water helped soothe some of the heat inside her. With her left arm wrapped around Yu Xin Xin’s squirming waist and her right hand pinning down Yu Xin Xin’s restless hands, Wei Zhi positioned her so that she sat facing away.
Trapped in place, Yu Xin Xin whimpered softly, her voice sending shivers down Wei Zhi’s spine. Unable to bear it, Wei Zhi closed her eyes, refusing to look.
This is really… going to be the death of me.
Yu Xin Xin continued to struggle, and Wei Zhi did her best to restrain her without using too much force, afraid of hurting her. In the process, she ended up letting Yu Xin Xin take plenty of liberties.
This went on for about half an hour.
Eventually, the scorching heat that had threatened to tear through Yu Xin Xin’s insides began to subside. She opened her eyes and found herself in an extremely intimate position with Wei Zhi—clothes disheveled, sitting in the bathtub in Wei Zhi’s embrace, her left arm draped over Wei Zhi’s shoulder, her right hand clutching Wei Zhi’s waist, her face buried in the crook of Wei Zhi’s neck, her teeth lightly grazing a patch of skin that tasted sweet.
The sheer weight of the situation crashed into Yu Xin Xin’s still-muddled mind, leaving her frozen in shock.
Noticing the sudden stillness in her arms, Wei Zhi tore her gaze away from the ceiling and looked down at Yu Xin Xin, her voice hoarse. “Xin Xin… how are you feeling?”
“……” Yu Xin Xin’s face, which had just begun to cool down, instantly flushed crimson again. “I-I’m better now.”
What did I just do? This is so embarrassing!
Wei Zhi noticed her cheeks instantly flush with that eerie crimson again and asked worriedly, “Are you still feeling unwell somewhere?”
“I—I just need to soak a little longer,” Yu Xinxin replied, covering her face. Through her fingers, she caught sight of the ambiguous red marks around Wei Zhi’s neck, along with a few bite marks—one even seemed to have a faint trace of bl00d.
Did… did she do all this?
Oh god, where could she hide her face now?
Wei Zhi noticed Yu Xinxin’s embarrassment and smiled faintly, asking, “Xinxin, are you feeling shy?”
Yu Xinxin: “…” If you know, why ask?
Earlier, when Yu Xinxin had clung to her, Wei Zhi hadn’t noticed the cold. But now that the other girl had regained her senses, the prolonged soak in cold water left her hands and feet chilled. Though Yu Xinxin’s eyes still held traces of lingering desire, her mind was clear again. Worried she might catch a chill, Wei Zhi said softly, “Let me carry you out.”
Yu Xinxin had intended to stay a little longer, but before she could answer, Wei Zhi scooped her up and carried her out of the bathroom. Mortified beyond words, Yu Xinxin didn’t dare protest as Wei Zhi dried her hair with a towel.
After finishing, Wei Zhi glanced down at Yu Xinxin’s nearly transparent clothes. The buttons on her blouse had come undone during their earlier struggle, revealing fair skin beneath. Thin rivulets of water trailed down her delicate neck, disappearing into unseen curves—like morning dew clinging to pristine white petals, pure yet intoxicating. Uncomfortable, Wei Zhi averted her gaze and fetched a bathrobe from the closet, handing it to Yu Xinxin without looking at her. “Change into this first, so you don’t catch a cold.” After a pause, she reconsidered. “Actually, maybe you should take a hot shower. You were in cold water for too long—if you get a fever tomorrow, it’ll be bad.”
Relieved for an excuse to escape the awkwardness, Yu Xinxin stammered, “O-okay, I’ll go now.”
Watching Yu Xinxin flee in a fluster, Wei Zhi smiled faintly. She changed into dry clothes herself, then called the front desk. As the sound of running water echoed from the bathroom, she sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
This incident was undoubtedly linked to Gu Mingxi. In the past, when others spoke of her misdeeds, Wei Zhi had dismissed them as exaggerations. After her mother’s death, aside from relentlessly retaliating against Wei Shenghong and occasionally taunting her with harsh words, Gu Mingxi had never actually harmed her. So why target Xinxin this time? Or was it because she couldn’t get to Wei Shenghong and didn’t want to confront her directly, so she went after someone close to her instead?
Yu Xinxin stood before the bathroom mirror, staring at her conflicted reflection. How was she supposed to face anyone now? As she fretted, she noticed faint red marks on her neck in the mirror. Frowning, she tried to recall—had Gu Mingxi… pinched her there?
She vaguely remembered that the other woman hadn’t actually done anything—had even poured her a glass of water. So what was the meaning behind this?
Wei Zhi took the ginger tea from the waiter and glanced at the tightly closed bathroom door. The sound of running water had long stopped, but the person inside hadn’t come out yet. Without even thinking, she knew what the person inside was doing. She raised her hand and knocked on the door, saying, “Xin Xin, are you done? Come out and drink the ginger tea before it gets cold.”
Yu Xin Xin’s thoughts were interrupted, and she could only brace herself to reply, “I—I’ll be right out.”
Stepping out of the bathroom, Yu Xin Xin sat down on the sofa and took the ginger tea Wei Zhi handed her. She stole a glance at Wei Zhi, whose expression was as calm as ever, as if nothing had just happened. A faint smile lingered at the corners of her lips as she looked at Yu Xin Xin with gentle eyes. When Yu Xin Xin accidentally caught sight of the mark on Wei Zhi’s neck, her face instantly flushed red, and she lowered her head to sip the tea.
Wei Zhi: ???
Following Yu Xin Xin’s earlier gaze, Wei Zhi reached up and touched her own neck, coincidentally brushing against the spot where she had been bitten. “Ouch~~” she exaggerated with a hiss.
Yu Xin Xin was startled and hurriedly apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. Does it hurt a lot?” As she spoke, she leaned closer and blew gently on the broken skin, as if that would ease the pain.
Wei Zhi hadn’t expected her to suddenly come so close. Her heart skipped a beat, and a faint blush spread across her cheeks. But she still managed to pout and say in a pitiful tone, “You’ve taken advantage of me like this. You’ll have to take responsibility for me from now on.”
Her voice was soft, spoken close to Yu Xin Xin’s ear, like a warm summer breeze gently brushing against her.
Yu Xin Xin felt as if a feather had lightly grazed her heart, ticklish and carrying a hint of something she hadn’t understood before but now recognized. She looked up at Wei Zhi, her bright eyes for the first time brimming with unmistakable affection—like a clear spring under the sunset, pure and limpid yet shimmering with intoxicating ripples.
Wei Zhi was mesmerized by those eyes, her heartbeat slowing as if entranced.
Yu Xin Xin seemed to steel herself with great resolve. Her glistening eyes fixed firmly on Wei Zhi as she spoke in a voice that was quiet but clear: “I’ll take responsibility. And also… I—I like you.”
Her voice was tiny, almost inaudible by the end, yet every word landed distinctly in Wei Zhi’s ears and pierced straight into her heart. As if unable to believe it, Wei Zhi asked in a trembling voice, “What did you say?”
Yu Xin Xin’s face was now red all the way to the tips of her ears. This was the first time she had ever confessed her feelings to someone, let alone under such circumstances. But she felt that something as important as a confession had to be spoken clearly—it couldn’t be left vague. That wouldn’t be fair to Wei Zhi, nor would it honor their feelings.
Taking a deep breath and trying to ignore the burning heat on her face, she looked at Wei Zhi’s breathtakingly beautiful features and enunciated clearly, “I said I like you. I want to be your real girlfriend.”
