Damn it! How could I let her get the upper hand?!
Ruan Tang, flushed with embarrassment and frustration, pressed down on Ni Yunshi’s restless wrist with one hand and gripped her chin with the other. She lowered her head, assuming a dominant posture, and forcefully pressed her lips against Ni Yunshi’s.
“President Ni! The report you asked me to prepare is ready.”
Suddenly, a voice called out from outside the door.
The two women, lost in their embrace, snapped back to reality.
Ruan Tang immediately stood up, but the sound of high heels clicking against the floor had already reached the door.
“It’s nothing—” Ni Yunshi began to speak, but Ruan Tang yanked her off the chair and shoved her under the desk. Simultaneously, Ruan Tang settled onto the sofa behind the desk and called out to the door, “Come in!”
As the door opened, a thought echoed from beneath the desk:
Tangtang, did you forget this is my office? My employees are incredibly professional; they’d never enter without being invited.
Ruan Tang’s face darkened. I panicked too much! I should have been the one hiding!
The employee who entered was Ni Yunshi’s assistant. “President Ni… President Ruan? Good afternoon!” she stammered, startled. After a moment of stunned silence, she quickly greeted them, her gaze then falling to the floor in front of the desk.
Ruan Tang followed the assistant’s gaze and felt her heart sink further.
It was Ni Yunshi’s blouse and belt, discarded on the floor—a habit she’d developed in the basement, where she would strip off her clothes and toss them aside without a second thought.
“President Ruan, is there something urgent you needed here?” the assistant asked.
“Just checking in and preparing for some business calls,” Ruan Tang replied evasively, then countered, “What brings you in at this hour?”
“I’m here to submit the quarterly reports and update you on our progress,” the assistant replied politely, her gaze drifting back to the clothes on the floor. “Where did President Ni go?”
“She’s… in the restroom, changing. She spilled coffee on herself while bringing me a cup,” Ruan Tang stammered, trying to sound convincing.
What a lame excuse! I’ve already had the coffee supplier arrested!
The mocking voice echoed in her mind again.
Suddenly, Ruan Tang felt like cotton was lodged in her throat, choking off any further words.
At the same moment, a warmth spread across her knee.
Ruan Tang shuddered violently.
Experience told her that lips were pressing against her skin.
Damn it! She’s causing trouble at a time like this!
The assistant noticed Ruan Tang’s trembling. “President Ruan, should I turn up the air conditioning for you?”
As the assistant spoke, she took two more steps forward.
“Don’t move!” Ruan Tang hissed.
Her long eyebrows furrowed tightly, the anger in her voice barely contained. For a moment, it was unclear whether she was addressing the person under the desk or giving an order to the assistant.
Sensing the tense atmosphere, the assistant froze, her movements halting abruptly. She stared stiffly and cautiously at Ruan Tang, waiting for further instructions.
But Ruan Tang had no further words prepared.
After a full half-minute of staring at each other, Ruan Tang stiffly raised her hand and pointed toward the door.
The assistant looked puzzled, but seeing that Ruan Tang had no intention of pursuing the matter, she felt as if she’d been granted a reprieve. She quickly retreated, closing the door behind her.
Click, click, click…
The sound of high heels grew fainter and fainter until it disappeared completely.
Ruan Tang’s legs relaxed, and she abruptly pushed off the floor with her heels, sliding backward two meters in her chair.
“Ni Yunshi! You’re asking for it!” she glared furiously under the desk.
“You taught me that kneeling is where my duties begin, didn’t you?” Ni Yunshi’s words were infuriatingly provocative.
Yet her expression was pitiful and forlorn, her delicate frame curled beneath the desk, seemingly weak and helpless. She appeared to be barely managing to sit up, relying entirely on the desk’s edge for support, her arms straining to hold her upright.
Ruan Tang wanted to kick her, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Finally, she could only let out a cold hmph and swallow her anger.
Ruan Tang stood up, quickly straightened her disheveled clothes, and strode toward the door.
“Wait a minute.”
Ni Yunshi spoke as she nimbly crawled out from under the desk, showing no trace of her earlier pitiful demeanor.
Instead of picking up her clothes, she grabbed a file folder from beside the computer and thrust it at Ruan Tang.
“These are the application materials. I’ve already sent the electronic version to your work email.”
Getting down to business, Ni Yunshi’s expression turned serious.
Ruan Tang was stunned. “You… you’ve already prepared everything?”
Of course! Tangtang wants something, she gets it!
“Take a look. If there are no issues, I’ll submit it directly to the group’s public selection email,” Ni Yunshi said calmly as she began to dress.
Ruan Tang felt a surge of anger rush to her head. “If you were already prepared, then why just now…”
“What did I do just now?” Ni Yunshi countered.
From the moment Tangtang entered, she was the one who started it!
I was just slacking off while completing my mission.
Of course, Tangtang’s touch feels much better than a fish, hehehe…
Ni Yunshi’s heart lingered on the warm, fragrant softness, but her expression remained serious, her counter-question even carrying a hint of righteous indignation.
Indeed, this whole episode felt more like Ruan Tang had ambushed Ni Yunshi during a surprise inspection, caught her admiring a beautiful woman, and, driven by jealousy, had forcefully asserted her dominance.
Ruan Tang gritted her teeth, speechless. In the end, she could only stomp back to her office, clutching the folder in fury.
How could she possibly deserve the title “White Moonlight”?
She was clearly just a hard-boiled egg!
Her anger soon gave way to the demands of work. The sunset blazed brilliantly before nightfall, and the night sky unfolded its serene beauty afterward.
After two such cycles, the Tangzhao Group finally arrived at its triennial general assembly.
Thanks to Ruan Tang’s recommendation, behind-the-scenes maneuvering, and Ni Yunshi’s impeccable credentials and outstanding performance, her promotion from the subsidiary to the group’s central management team proceeded smoothly.
But just as the final decision was about to be made, a sharp, high-pitched female voice erupted from outside the conference room:
“I veto the decision to promote Ni Yunshi!”
