- Chapter 42 - Checking Homework in the Bathtub
“Resist what? Isn’t this what you taught me?” Ruan Tang murmured, her gaze lowered.
The warm breath from her words brushed against Ni Yunshi’s ear, sending a wave of heat through her.
“Ugh… ah—”
Finally, Ni Yunshi’s suppressed moans broke free.
Her resistance, like the shattered remnants of her will in the basement, crumbled beyond repair.
Her long legs thrashed in the water, sending a series of pink splashes echoing through the room.
Suddenly, the rubber stopper was kicked loose, and the hot water swirled down the drain.
Only when the last drop had drained away did Ruan Tang’s movements cease.
Ni Yunshi lay limp beside her, breathing softly. But before two seconds had passed, Ruan Tang grabbed her and pulled her down again.
Ni Yunshi gasped in shock, “You—”
“You taught me more than just this.”
By the end, Ni Yunshi lay limp in the bathtub, like a dehydrated mermaid.
Waaah, I shouldn’t have taught her so much!
Waaah, she lusts after my body, she’s so depraved.
Waaah, I still want Tangtang to step on me, kick me, and love me forever and ever!
Ruan Tang’s eye twitched. She was about to scold Ni Yunshi when a phone rang outside the bathroom. Ruan Tang stood up to answer it.
The bathtub was small, and in her haste, she accidentally kicked Ni Yunshi in the face.
Ah! Satisfaction!
How utterly perverse!
Ruan Tang rolled her eyes and left the bathroom to answer the call.
“Xiao Tang? Where are you? Can you come to the office? The accounting discrepancies have already spread through the project team. If you’re available, please come and publicly vouch for Shishi again.”
Gu Hewan’s anxious voice came through the phone the moment Ruan Tang answered.
“I understand. I’ll be in the conference room in half an hour,” Ruan Tang replied promptly before hanging up.
Turning back to the bathroom, she saw Ni Yunshi weakly climbing out of the tub.
Their eyes met, and Ruan Tang clearly saw Ni Yunshi lightly lick her lower lip, a predatory glint hidden deep in her eyes.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the time for relaxation or indulgence.
“Stay put at home. We’ll settle things between us when I get back.”
As Ruan Tang spoke, she flipped on the bathroom’s heating lamp with a backhanded motion.
“Your money, phone, and toiletries are all in our room. If you’re hungry and don’t want to cook, just order takeout.”
“Oh… wait, what?!” Ni Yunshi responded automatically, then froze in confusion.
She said “our room”?
She wants to share a bed with me?
She…
Bang!
Before Ni Yunshi’s thoughts could fully register, Ruan Tang had slammed the bathroom door shut, her wet hair concealing the tips of her ears, which were gradually turning crimson.
Idiot! Fool!
Even after all this, she’s still guessing? And now I have to rush back to the company to deal with the mess she caused!
Ruan Tang punched the air twice in frustration, quickly tidied up, and headed for the corporate headquarters.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Ni Yunshi luxuriated in another thorough bath before lazily emerging.
As expected, the room had been completely rearranged by the hired housekeeper to resemble a shared living space. Her belongings were openly displayed, with no attempt at concealment.
It seemed Ruan Tang no longer intended to hide anything, not even from Gu Hewan.
Ni Yunshi’s eyes lit up as she excitedly threw herself onto the bed and rolled around, unable to suppress the wild pounding in her chest.
Though she knew she wasn’t the original owner of this body, perhaps… perhaps…
Her thoughts swirled, but without direct confirmation from Ruan Tang, she dared not let her hopes soar too high.
Ni Yunshi fumbled with her phone, wanting to call Ruan Tang and ask her directly about her feelings.
But her anxiety made the question she was about to blurt out retreat.
As long as things remained ambiguous, she could continue to deceive herself and cling on. But if she knew for sure, and the answer wasn’t what she hoped for, she would have to flee again in humiliation.
Soon, her stomach’s growls snapped Ni Yunshi out of her reverie.
She went downstairs, rummaged through the kitchen for some snacks to tide her over, and then began preparing dinner.
It was already late, and Ruan Tang would undoubtedly be hungry when she returned.
Since Ruan Tang had worked so hard to pamper her today, Ni Yunshi felt she should at least pamper her stomach in return.
However, just as she finished preparing the ingredients, she heard another sound at the door.
“She’s back already? I haven’t even—”
Ni Yunshi peeked out of the kitchen, her smile vanishing instantly.
It wasn’t Ruan Tang returning, but Gu Hewan, who had lured her away with a ruse.
“What’s wrong, Shishi? Are you upset to see me?” Gu Hewan’s smile remained bright and innocent, like that of a friendly neighbor.
“Upset? I was just wondering where to find some meat for the pot,” Ni Yunshi retorted with a forced smile.
The air crackled with the acrid scent of sulfur and gunpowder.
“Ni Yunshi, you know what I’m planning. You should take the money and flee far away. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?” Gu Hewan’s words carried a pointed implication.
“Ah, so you were behind that money transfer,” Ni Yunshi said, raising her eyebrows.
The day before the project’s celebratory banquet, Ni Yunshi had received a strange transfer of fifty million yuan into her private account. Instead of touching the money, she reported it to the police for investigation.
Ni Yunshi initially dismissed it as a common scam and didn’t mention it to anyone.
But the next day at the banquet, her ex-boyfriend, who had a criminal record, suddenly appeared and caused a scene.
Seeing Ni Yunshi finally realize the connection, Gu Hewan nodded, admitting directly, “That’s right. And you should have known. If you had taken the money and run, Li Huai wouldn’t have been involved.”
“You’ve planned this meticulously,” Ni Yunshi scoffed, suddenly pulling out her phone from behind her back. The screen already showed the recording interface.
“But what would happen if the company executives or Tangtang found out about all this?”
While fiddling with her phone upstairs, Ni Yunshi had noticed that its GPS location was enabled.
Since Ni Yunshi and Ruan Tang used the same brand of phone, a quick check revealed that their accounts were linked, allowing their device locations to be shared and tracked.
Earlier, while cooking in the kitchen, Gu Hewan had noticed Ni Yunshi staring at Ding Wei with a dreamy look. She knew then that the person who would return wouldn’t be Ruan Tang.
Her casual question was merely a pretense, a way to subtly probe for information.
Gu Hewan’s expression darkened. “Ni Yunshi, what exactly are you implying?”
“You’re asking me?” Ni Yunshi raised an eyebrow. “I’m the one who’s curious about your intentions. If you want to compete for Tangtang’s affection, do it fairly. There’s no need for these underhanded tactics.”
“Ruan Tang is free,” Gu Hewan warned coldly. “She doesn’t belong to anyone. And you’ll corrupt her!”
“Corrupt?” Ni Yunshi’s brow furrowed sharply. “I won’t corrupt her! In this world, no one wants to save her more than I do!”
Gu Hewan scoffed. “The things you’ve led her to do defy all social norms. You’re dragging her into the gutter! What talk of salvation?”
“You said it yourself—she’s free. How she lives her life, who she loves, what she pursues—those choices should be hers alone, not dictated by the suffocating constraints of society!”
