The Cold White Moonlight Desires Me Every Day - Chapter 47
Resign to take responsibility?
After finally climbing to a coveted position that everyone envied, with a bright and promising future ahead, she was just giving it all up like that?!
Not only Ruan Tang and Gu Hewan, but all the other executives at the table stared in disbelief.
“This is my resignation letter,” Ni Yunshi said, already holding the document in her hand.
Gradually, the others snapped out of their shock.
The next step was the vote. If more than half voted in favor, Ni Yunshi would naturally resign from the group.
However, as the resignation letter circulated among the executives, Ruan Tang’s fists clenched.
The letter clearly stated that Ni Yunshi wasn’t just resigning from her position as a management trainee; she was also resigning as CEO of Bai Mei’er!
Moreover, the subsequent operational management of Bai Mei’er had been entrusted to Ruan Tang.
She was completely severing ties with the group!
“Now, let’s begin the voting process,” the leading shareholder announced, raising his hand first.
Bai Mei’er had originally been established by Ruan Tang’s father as a cash cow for Ni Yunshi. To these executives, the operational rights were never particularly important. At most, their wives, girlfriends, or mistresses might patronize the establishment.
However, eliminating a trainee competitor was crucial for maintaining the stability of their own networks and influence.
Therefore, it didn’t take long for more than half the hands to be raised in favor of Ni Yunshi’s resignation.
Ruan Tang didn’t even have a chance to speak before her resignation application was stamped with a red seal.
Bang!
A sudden, loud crash startled everyone.
They turned to see Ruan Tang abruptly stand up, her chair toppling to the floor behind her.
“President Ruan, what do you think you’re doing?” someone at the table demanded, their voice wary.
Ignoring the stares, Ruan Tang strode around the table and stopped in front of Ni Yunshi.
Their eyes met. Ni Yunshi’s calm gaze held a hint of confusion, as if she couldn’t understand Ruan Tang’s fury.
The anger burned hotter in Ruan Tang’s chest. She grabbed Ni Yunshi’s arm and dragged her out of the room.
As the two figures disappeared into the distance, the others watched in astonishment. This was the first time they had ever seen the young, composed rising star of the group lose her composure so completely.
The pair returned to Ruan Tang’s office, one leading the other.
With a violent shove, Ruan Tang sent Ni Yunshi stumbling into the sofa.
Though the cushions were soft, the impact twisted Ni Yunshi’s ankle, sending a sharp pain through her leg.
Ni Yunshi frowned in displeasure. “Ruan Tang, I’ve already resolved your problem. What more could you possibly want?”
Ahhh! My hard-earned fortune of three or four years!
Waaah! My precious little money!
Hmph! And she’s even being mean to me!
“You don’t know what I want?” Ruan Tang asked, her voice low and dangerous.
She braced her hands on the sofa back, trapping Ni Yunshi in the corner.
Her gaze felt like a knife, scraping across Ruan Tang’s face inch by inch, leaving a stinging pain.
“I’ll issue an official statement declaring my voluntary resignation. There won’t be any negative rumors about you,” Ni Yunshi said, her eyes sincere.
I’ve done everything I can. Shouldn’t you let me go now?
Waaah, I can’t bear to leave Xiao Tangtang.
She doesn’t love me anyway. She’s probably annoyed by me… But I have to go!
“Nonsense!” Ruan Tang’s fists clenched abruptly.
Even if she couldn’t say it, after all she’d done, was Ni Yunshi truly so dense she couldn’t feel it?
Assuming Ruan Tang was still worried about public opinion, Ni Yunshi quickly added, “Don’t worry, Bai Mei’er’s PR team is excellent. They won’t cause you any trouble…”
“That’s not what I mean!” Ruan Tang snapped, her voice sharp. “I… I…”
That familiar feeling returned.
The words caught in her throat, as if her vocal cords had a mind of their own, refusing to obey.
Ni Yunshi gazed back at her, a flicker of emotion in her eyes.
She… she what? Does she love me? Is she going to say it?
Waaah, does that mean I bankrupted myself for nothing?
Never mind! If she loves me, she’ll support me. I can rebuild my empire!
Hope rekindled in her eyes, shining brightly. Ruan Tang felt desperate, but the words simply wouldn’t come out.
Damn it! What kind of twisted shame is this?!
Ruan Tang jerked her head violently, then slapped herself twice, trying to clear her mind. Now was not the time to be paralyzed by shame.
The slaps rang out sharply, leaving two overlapping red palm prints on her cheeks.
“Ni Yunshi! I…”
Ruan Tang still couldn’t speak. She raised her hand again, but Ni Yunshi seized her wrist. “What are you doing?! Are you crazy?!”
Tangtang is such a good person.
She’d rather slap herself raw than lie to me.
Waaah, just one more kiss and I can keep pua-ing myself!
Fine, then kiss!
After kissing her, after doing that in a place like this…
She refused to believe she could still feel ashamed, still be unable to say those words of love!
Ruan Tang shook off Ni Yunshi’s hand and cupped her cheeks once more.
But just as she was about to continue, the office door creaked open.
“Xiao Tang? What are you two doing?” Gu Hewan’s innocently curious voice floated in.
The momentum of the previous moment froze completely.
Ruan Tang awkwardly smoothed Ni Yunshi’s disheveled hair, which had been mussed during their earlier struggle. “It’s nothing. She can’t even see her hair is messy.”
“Right,” Ni Yunshi rolled her eyes so far back they nearly disappeared.
My hair’s a mess, and I’m blind too!
This office is full of reflective surfaces, but not a single one can be used as a mirror!
That damned timing! Even our breakup s3x got ruined!
She still wants to break up?!
Ruan Tang gritted her teeth, ready to unleash a scolding, but Ni Yunshi had already stood up. “I’ve completed my handover duties, President Ruan. You have no right to discipline me anymore.”
Ah! How could my thirty-six-degree mouth utter such icy words?!
No collar, no little whip, no golden chains to bind me…
Waaah, life is so dull! Not even a toad comes to critique this human!
“Ha! Even if you climb all over me, I’ll still discipline you as I see fit!” Ruan Tang reached out to grab her again.
But Ni Yunshi had already turned and was heading for the door.
Ruan Tang was about to chase after her when Gu Hewan quickly intervened. “Xiao Tang, don’t let your emotions escalate the situation. I’ll go talk to her and try to reason with her. Maybe there’s still a chance to salvage things.”
Ruan Tang paused in her tracks.
Gu Hewan’s motives were impure, and Ni Yunshi clearly saw her as a rival. Perhaps goading her would make her stay.
Just as Ruan Tang was considering this, before she could even nod, Gu Hewan had already stepped forward to follow Ni Yunshi.
On the same floor, in the restroom.
Before the large rectangular mirror, the warm-toned vanity lights enhanced the flawless texture of Ni Yunshi’s skin.
Suddenly, Gu Hewan’s reflection appeared in the mirror, standing silently behind Ni Yunshi, her gaze fixed openly on Ni Yunshi as if admiring her own perfect creation.
Apart from the soft trickle of running water, neither woman spoke.
They remained silent until Ni Yunshi finished adjusting her makeup and clothes and turned off the faucet.
Finally, Gu Hewan could no longer suppress her curiosity. “Ni Yunshi,” she asked, “are you conceding defeat through your actions?”
“You could say that. You’ve won, but what does it matter?” Ni Yunshi replied indifferently, showing no trace of sadness.
“But what does it matter? I never deluded myself into thinking Tangtang truly loved me.”
