 - Chapter 6 - Accepting Her Reckless Outburst

The clouds in the sky shifted through countless shapes as the sky transitioned from blue to orange.
Driving home, Ruan Tang waited at a red light, her gaze drifting to the cake shop on the street corner.
Inside the refrigerated display case, snow-white cream partially enveloped vibrant red strawberries, looking particularly fragrant—Ni Yunshi’s favorite.
Ruan Tang shook her head, trying to shake off all thoughts of her.
Yet the doubts in her heart surged relentlessly: Wasn’t she just a gold-digging parasite? How could she possibly care about business matters…?
Clutching her doubts, Ruan Tang arrived home and got out of the car with the strawberry cake.
Aunt Yuan looked puzzled. “Today… doesn’t seem to be any special occasion, does it?”
“I just wanted some,” Ruan Tang replied dismissively.
Setting down the cake, she turned toward the basement, only to find the door ajar—she must have been careless last night and forgotten to lock it.
Anxiety flooded her heart as Ruan Tang shoved the door open.
As expected, the room was completely empty!
A buzzing erupted in her mind, and the realization struck her like a thunderbolt:
She really escaped!
Rage and frustration intertwined, causing Ruan Tang to tremble uncontrollably.
“Miss…”
“She won’t get away! She absolutely won’t!”
Aunt Yuan approached, about to speak, but Ruan Tang roared, whirling around and storming back upstairs to her room.
Ni Yunshi had hidden her ID and phone in the closet. Without money or identification, even leaving the city would be impossible!
Sniff, sniff, mua!
I’m going to suck all the air out of here and suffocate myself!
Hehehe! I’m 吸特樂! Hahaha—
As her anger surged, a maniacal laughter erupted in Ruan Tang’s mind, instantly calming her.
She stopped at the bedroom door, listening intently. She heard a faint metallic clinking—the sound of the chain rubbing against Ni Yunshi’s golden collar.
Ruan Tang pushed the door open.
The walk-in closet stood wide open.
Ni Yunshi, wearing a robe with its belt half-undone, sat cross-legged on the snow-white carpet, clutching two pajamas Ruan Tang had tossed into the laundry basket that morning.
Hmm? Why does it feel like someone’s watching me?
Ni Yunshi turned her head.
Their eyes met, the air froze, and their inner thoughts exploded.
—Aaaaaah!
Waaah, what happened to the trust between wives? You can stay out, but please don’t come home unannounced!
My aloof and otherworldly persona has shattered!
Ni Yunshi’s attention was entirely focused on her tense, cold expression and her inner turmoil, completely oblivious to the fact that Ruan Tang’s ears were also dripping bl00d.
Overwhelmed by shame and anger, the golden chain clattered loudly.
Ni Yunshi was yanked forward, letting out a startled cry: “Ah! Mmm—”
Her cry was cut short as Ruan Tang’s lips captured hers, a sharp pain shooting through her.
Ruan Tang was still a head shorter than Ni Yunshi, but the latter bowed her head completely, allowing Ruan Tang to vent her fury in a savage bite.
Ni Yunshi’s hands instinctively wrapped around Ruan Tang’s waist, lifting her upward to deepen their violent embrace.
A small cut opened at the corner of Ni Yunshi’s lips, a faint metallic tang spreading across their mouths. Only then did Ruan Tang cease her ferocious assault.
When Ruan Tang looked up again, the blush on Ni Yunshi’s cheeks had faded, her eyes now cold and scrutinizing. Her delicate face showed no trace of lingering warmth, instead resembling a cat whose tail had been stepped on, simmering with suppressed rage.
Who! Who dared bully my Tangtang?! That bastard better come out and face death!
“What’s this? Did you turn into a stray dog so quickly, only to come back and torment me?”
Though her inner voice roared with fury, Ni Yunshi’s words remained sharp and cutting.
Ruan Tang didn’t reply, simply reaching out to gently touch Ni Yunshi’s lips, her fingertip carefully tracing the broken corner.
She had indeed let her emotions get the better of her…
Before guilt could fully take root, a sudden sharp pain flared at the tip of her thumb.
Ni Yunshi had bitten her!
No! I can’t succumb to Tangtang’s temptation!
If Tangtang just tells me who that bastard is, I’ll go butcher him and throw him in the pot right now!
Damn it, Tangtang looks so adorable when she’s flushed…
Adorable and biting?!
Ruan Tang’s anger flared anew as she yanked her hand away. “Bite me again, and I’ll cut off your tongue!”
“Go ahead and try,” Ni Yunshi scoffed, unfazed by the threat.
“Fine, if you don’t appreciate it, I’ll take matters into my own hands.” Ruan Tang, her mischievous side surfacing, feigned a sinister grin and pinched Ni Yunshi’s chin.
Ni Yunshi refused to back down. “What? Did I strike a nerve?”
Don’t cut it off! If you do, we can’t kiss anymore!
Waaah, I just wanted to test her…
I don’t want to lose my sugar water supply!
Sugar water? Tang water…
Whoosh!
Heat surged through Ruan Tang, flushing her cheeks crimson. Instinctively, she turned her head to hide the color, shoving Ni Yunshi away in embarrassed anger. But Ni Yunshi’s grip tightened, pulling her back.
“Ruan Tang, you said you’d return what you stole. Can’t afford to keep your word?” Ni Yunshi raised a mocking eyebrow.
She’s avoiding the topic this much? This is definitely a major crisis!
Thinking this, Ni Yunshi lowered her head, drawing closer until the warmth of her breath brushed Ruan Tang’s cheek once more.
Ruan Tang, her resolve crumbling, abruptly shoved Ni Yunshi away and fled the room as if escaping.
She hurried downstairs to the living room, her face still burning. She pinched her palm fiercely:
Don’t be fooled. Ni Yunshi might just be a bit lustful. She’s probably just eyeing the family fortune, ready to seize it at any moment and leave me to die without a burial, just like in my previous life!
Having just finished mentally fortifying herself, she noticed Aunt Yuan and the new chef setting the dinner dishes on the table.
Sensing Ruan Tang’s gaze, Aunt Yuan approached to explain the earlier incident.
“When I woke up this morning, I saw the basement door unlocked. I assumed you wanted to let the person out for some fresh air, so I didn’t interfere.”
“You assumed?” Ruan Tang narrowed her eyes.
She clearly took advantage of the situation!
Aunt Yuan is really siding with outsiders too much!
With that thought, Ruan Tang glared at her but didn’t demand her replacement or a salary deduction.
Upstairs, Ni Yunshi stood leaning against the walk-in closet, arms crossed, her brow slightly furrowed and her gaze cold.
The clothes she had been holding just moments ago now lay discarded in a messy heap on the floor, as if they had suddenly lost all appeal.
Suddenly, Aunt Yuan knocked and entered the room. “Miss Ni, dinner is ready.”
As she spoke, her gaze flickered to the corner of Ni Yunshi’s bruised lip. Aunt Yuan added, “Miss Ni has always lacked a sense of security. Please be patient with her.”
“What passes between her and me is none of your concern,” Ni Yunshi retorted, scrutinizing Aunt Yuan’s face for any hint of a hidden scheme. “But you… your dream is about to come true, isn’t it?”
“My only wish is for the boss to be content,” Aunt Yuan replied, her expression unwavering. “That way, my work goes smoothly and my days remain peaceful.”
“You’re skilled at your job, so the boss is undoubtedly pleased,” Ni Yunshi sneered. “But which boss are we talking about? That’s the question, isn’t it?”
Though unspoken, Aunt Yuan understood the implication. She glanced pointedly at the desk across the room.
“I’m just a housekeeper. If I had ulterior motives, Tangzhao would have been Hongxin’s long ago.”
With that final remark, Aunt Yuan turned and left.
Ni Yunshi followed her gaze to the desk.
