The Consequences of Provoking a Crazy Beauty (GL) - Chapter 1
The July heat had just arrived, and the scorching sun was pervasive, baking everything both inside and outside the house to an equally scalding temperature.
In the narrow stairwell, sunlight slanted across the floor. Two slender figures swayed and overlapped with the approaching footsteps.
Huo Junxian moved to the left, but Gu Siyu’s hand blocked her. Huo Junxian then moved to the right, and Gu Siyu continued to block her, raising her eyes to Huo Junxian’s with a challenging gaze, completely obstructing Huo Junxian’s path.
Finally, Huo Junxian stopped, calmly looking at the woman before her.
Black high heels squeezed between her legs, slightly tilting upwards. Gu Siyu took just one step, pushing Huo Junxian against the wall. Their eyes met.
Breathing, red lips slightly parted, neither spoke a word to the other.
Gu Siyu leaned in, her lips almost touching Huo Junxian’s. They were so close their breaths mingled. If Gu Siyu were to extend her tongue, she could gently part the red petals and her tongue could touch the sweet stamen within.
“Huo Junxian.”
Huo Junxian blinked.
The two of them were neither friends, nor lovers, nor even casual partners.
In a more literary sense, they were the ex-wife and the newcomer.
Huo Junxian’s husband brought Gu Siyu, the newcomer, back on the very day of their divorce, claiming he brought her in to shelter from the rain. And Huo Junxian, the “gentle” wife, directly opened the door for them.
It was completely absurd.
Gu Siyu freed one hand, her thumb pressing against Huo Junxian’s chin. She said, “…Look at me.”
Huo Junxian breathed out, her voice very soft. She raised her eyes slightly.
Gu Siyu’s lips brushed her ear, saying, “How about it? Aren’t I much better than your husband?”
The person in front of her was alluring, wearing a black camisole and tight jeans that clung to her legs, supporting her full buttocks. Her waist was so slender it could be spanned by a single hand.
Compared to a man, she was far superior.
After speaking, Gu Siyu left only a faint, soft laugh by Huo Junxian’s ear. She withdrew her hand and went down the stairwell. On the first floor, her hand rested on the railing, and her tongue pressed against her lips, as if savoring something.
She turned her head and smiled at Huo Junxian, charming and seductive.
To put it plainly, she was simply slutty and shameless.
She brazenly and triumphantly provoked the original wife.
Huo Junxian was still at the corner of the stairwell. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting rectangular shadows on the steps. She stood in the shadow, her fingers touching her ear, gently feeling the warm spot.
After the summer rain, the air was filled with the scent of grass and trees. Water droplets fell on thin leaves, which bent under their weight.
Huo Junxian turned and went upstairs. She stood on the balcony, while Gu Siyu went from the living room to the backyard.
Gu Siyu sat on a lounge chair playing with her phone. Just as she was about to lie down, Jin Yuansen came out. He wore glasses and appeared very refined. He chatted and laughed with Gu Siyu, his fingers gripping the wooden chair, half-crouching very close to Gu Siyu.
There was only a centimeter separating them, a distance the outside sunlight couldn’t penetrate.
Gentle and soft, a perfect match of talent and beauty.
Jin Yuansen lowered his voice, “You need to hurry. Who knows when she’ll cause trouble? Then we’ll have to move out of this house.”
His voice was steady, yet full of temptation, “I won’t leave any of the household items for her, just as we agreed before. All the money will be yours.”
Gu Siyu lifted her arm, picked up the poodle that ran past her leg, and aimed it at Jin Yuansen. Jin Yuansen’s mouth nearly touched the poodle’s mouth. The poodle was also startled and immediately barked at Jin Yuansen.
This was Huo Junxian’s dog. It usually had a bad temper and barked fiercely. Gu Siyu reached out to stroke the poodle’s head, but the poodle immediately broke free and ran off, completely refusing to let her touch it.
Jin Yuansen frowned, displeased with her actions.
Gu Siyu slowly said, “Since I came in, your wife hasn’t said a word to me. Can your wife speak? Is she mute?”
Jin Yuansen frowned, correcting her, “We’re divorced. Don’t say ‘my wife,’ it’s ex-wife, ex-wife.”
“…Oh.”
Jin Yuansen was particularly obsessive about this point, insisting that Gu Siyu change her address, as if the word “wife” made him uncomfortable. He adjusted his glasses and said, “You be more proactive and get closer to her. Huo Junxian doesn’t have many friends usually, so just coax her, get her to talk, and find out if she has any dowry left.”
“Or, when she’s not home, go search her room. There should be a safe by her bed for valuables. See if there’s any hidden assets. She’ll definitely go walk the dog with the neighbor this afternoon. Find a time to go upstairs.”
Gu Siyu again crooked her finger at the poodle, but the poodle remained motionless, ignoring her.
“Good girl, don’t you want to move into a new house? This will be your reward from now on. You’ll live in this house, which is Huo Junxian’s ancestral home, and it’s now worth three hundred million.”
Jin Yuansen coaxed her, “Once Huo Junxian leaves, all of this will be yours.”
Gu Siyu smiled, tilting her head and saying, “You know your wife so well, does your wife know you? Does she know where your money is?”
Jin Yuansen just smiled, a very reserved smile.
Gu Siyu said, “Give me the lowdown, so I can get closer to her. I don’t know anything about your wife.”
Jin Yuansen portrayed himself as the victim, claiming that in this marriage, he was the biggest sufferer, having fallen into his wife’s trap.
He worked hard to earn money and build his company, but his wife could easily take half. He wanted Huo Junxian to leave with nothing, not wanting to leave her a single penny. Unfortunately, the court ruled for an equal division of assets, which he found deeply unfair.
So, he hired Gu Siyu to investigate his ex-wife’s pre-marital assets and utterly defeat her.
Jin Yuansen spoke with anger, “She’s a lunatic.”
Gu Siyu neither agreed nor refuted. She lowered her gaze to Jin Yuansen’s hand and said coldly, “I don’t care about her situation, but there’s one thing you’d better pay attention to: don’t touch me. Other than our agreement, we’re completely clean.” She also made her stance clear, not wanting any entanglement with such a disgusting man. However, Jin Yuansen was shameless and always thought he had a way to capture her heart and have something with her.
Heh.
Something?
Gu Siyu wasn’t foolish either. She continued to tease the small dog, which ignored her even more. She actively walked over, determined to chase the dog and play.
Suddenly, the struggling dog turned its head and snarled at Jin Yuansen, charging directly and biting his hand, “Woof woof woof!”
Jin Yuansen didn’t react in time. Bl00d seeped from the back of his hand.
The little poodle held on tightly, refusing to let go. Jin Yuansen painfully shook his arm, spinning around but couldn’t dislodge it. The little poodle seemed intent on biting off his hand. Jin Yuansen called Gu Siyu for help, but Gu Siyu didn’t move, her arms crossed, looking puzzled: *Why didn’t the poodle pay attention to me just now?*
She turned her head and saw Huo Junxian standing behind them. Huo Junxian’s eyes were calm and unperturbed, as still as the wind in the courtyard.
She didn’t know when the wind started, nor when this person arrived.
“…?”
Gu Siyu’s lips twitched.
Huo Junxian had changed into a white chiffon dress. The hem swayed with the courtyard breeze, revealing her fair calves. The little poodle was still biting Jin Yuansen, and it looked like it was bleeding. She clapped her hands at the poodle, and the poodle yelped, let go, ran to Huo Junxian’s side, and lifted its front paws, continuing to bark at Jin Yuansen. Huo Junxian bent down and picked up the poodle.
Jin Yuansen clutched his hand, gritting his teeth, unable to utter a single curse word.
Only after Huo Junxian had walked far away did Jin Yuansen speak.
“Beast. Just like her, a lunatic.”
Gu Siyu wasn’t at all curious about Jin Yuansen’s marital relationship.
The reason was simple: all men were disgusting.
Their “conspiracy” ended halfway. Jin Yuansen’s hand was severely bitten. He wiped it with alcohol and immediately called to schedule a rabies vaccine. After he left the house, only Gu Siyu remained. As Jin Yuansen left, he repeatedly used his eyes to hint at Gu Siyu, reminding her to look for hidden assets.
Huo Junxian squatted in the living room, using a basin to clean the poodle’s teeth. The poodle, usually active, was docile and endearing under her hands.
After finishing, Huo Junxian went into the kitchen to prepare food for the poodle. She was still wearing the chiffon dress, but now with a grey shawl. The poodle ran back and forth by her legs.
Gu Siyu sat on the sofa playing with her phone. Neither spoke, even though Gu Siyu had cornered Huo Junxian in the hallway that morning.
During this time, Gu Siyu, tired of playing, threw her phone onto the sofa and gazed into the kitchen. She sat improperly, legs crossed, leaning askew.
Her gaze was meticulous as she carefully observed Huo Junxian, scrutinizing her from head to toe. Huo Junxian had a very good figure, curvaceous and exceptionally well-proportioned.
Most men who saw her wouldn’t remain unmoved, and even women who saw her would feel their hearts stir, their sexual orientation thrown into disarray.
If she wore an apron, she would be a magnificent siren.
Who could resist the charm of a married woman?
Huo Junxian finished preparing the food, placing the bowl on the floor. The little poodle sniffed the delicious meal and began to eat. Huo Junxian watched beside it. When the poodle looked at her, she would stroke its head.
After that, she didn’t stop. She cleaned the house and organized the household items. There were no maids in this house; probably Huo Junxian did all the cooking, laundry, and everything else daily, making her a proper housewife.
Yet, she possessed a peculiar, attractive charm.
As Huo Junxian walked past Gu Siyu, a fragrant breeze followed her.
In that moment, Gu Siyu’s mind thought:
*A married woman, does she really smell of milk?*
Despite Gu Siyu’s provocations that morning, Huo Junxian continued to act as if nothing had happened, remaining in the same space as Gu Siyu. For the first time, Gu Siyu felt like she was invisible to someone else.
When a wife discovers her husband’s infidelity, she typically reacts in two ways.
1. Hysterically pulls the mistress’s hair.
2. Acts like a shrewd woman, finds the other party, and tells them to leave.
Gu Siyu had initially thought Huo Junxian was the second type, just waiting for an opportunity. Now the opportunity was right in front of her, yet she took no action.
Gu Siyu realized there was a third type of woman.
3. Doesn’t care, isn’t bothered, treats the other person as if they don’t exist.
At three in the afternoon, Huo Junxian put a leash on the poodle. Even though it was small, it wore a muzzle. Huo Junxian slowly and gently adjusted the muzzle, making the little poodle look very handsome. During this, the little poodle stared at Gu Siyu with dark, menacing eyes, baring its teeth. Huo Junxian’s hand rested on its head, stroking it, and the dog immediately became much calmer.
Soon, there would be no one else in the house, and Gu Siyu could go upstairs and search her things…
Unfortunately, Gu Siyu didn’t listen to Jin Yuansen. She didn’t act. When Huo Junxian left, she followed to watch. Huo Junxian, carrying the dog, spoke to her neighbor who was also walking their dog at the entrance.
Her voice was soft. Her lips moved slightly when talking to the neighbor, and she even seemed to smile, appearing very gentle. Afterward, she put the dog down, and the dog ran wildly. She followed it for two steps.
Gentle, mild.
“With the muzzle on, he won’t bite people,” Huo Junxian said softly, stroking the poodle’s head. The poodle had a tag around its neck.
It read: Xiao Yu.
The neighbor said, “You’ll have to teach me how to train mine later, mine’s always disobedient.”
“…Mm.”
The neighbor was also a beautiful woman. The two talked as they walked their dogs along the stone path. Huo Junxian’s lips curved, and as her expression softened, the ice seemed to melt away.
Oh? She can smile, and she can speak?
She just doesn’t speak to *her*, does she?
Gu Siyu bit her lip.
Only Gu Siyu was left in the luxurious mansion. She pulled a cigarette from her pocket, then a lighter, cupped her hand, and lit the cigarette. But then she walked to the door and extinguished it, throwing it in the trash can.
Gu Siyu wandered around the house. The house was clean and tidy, making it easy to find things. She didn’t touch anything haphazardly; she was just curious if the house was really worth three hundred million.
If so, Huo Junxian was quite wealthy.
The house’s design was very interesting. The entire third floor belonged to Huo Junxian. Usually, only Huo Junxian went upstairs. The higher one went, the more one could smell a fragrance—a faint, sweet, and alluring milky scent.
Gu Siyu took a pair of sunglasses to the third-floor balcony. There were chairs on the platform, and the sun slanted in. She walked to the railing and looked down at the second floor. The second-floor balcony connected to stairs that led directly to the outside of the courtyard. Gu Siyu calculated the height: could she jump from the third-floor balcony to the second-floor balcony?
Tsk, that meant she was quite close to Huo Junxian’s room.
The sun was directly overhead, but Gu Siyu didn’t move. She took an interested look at the scenery below.
In the distance, two poodles ran gleefully.
Under a dense camphor tree, Huo Junxian leaned against the trunk, her fingers gripping the leash. The poodle, unable to escape the leash, barked wildly. The neighbor touched Huo Junxian’s clothes, then reached for Huo Junxian’s hand. The little poodle ran too far, pulling Huo Junxian’s hand upwards, and the neighbor couldn’t grab her.
The neighbor didn’t give up. She slowly and very intimately leaned in, trying to kiss Huo Junxian’s lips. Huo Junxian didn’t let her, turning her head. Her eyes met Gu Siyu’s gaze precisely, and the two women looked at each other across the distance.
It was just this moment of distraction that Huo Junxian couldn’t dodge.
The neighbor hugged Huo Junxian and whispered something in her ear. The two looked intimate, without restraint.
Gu Siyu rested one hand on her chin and the other on her glasses frame, slowly pushing up her sunglasses. As the tinted filter receded, she could see that Huo Junxian’s fair face remained expressionless.
She thought: *Huo Junxian is far more interesting than Jin Yuansen’s money.*
