The Consequences of Provoking a Crazy Beauty (GL) - Chapter 10
Gu Siyu snapped out of it, having forgotten what she was about to ask. She finished her glass of wine and looked at He Xiao. “What?”
“I…”
Duan Jiayang patted He Xiao and said, “Go get something to eat. I want to talk to Siyu for a bit.”
“Alright,” He Xiao knew what she was going to do and made space for her.
Duan Jiayang hesitated before bringing up her own matter: she needed to borrow money from Gu Siyu. Before asking Gu Siyu, she had tried to borrow from other friends, but no one had lent her any. They all saw that the Duan family had disowned her and felt she wouldn’t be able to return, so they all went to curry favor with her stepmother’s daughter. This time, she was truly desperate, which was why she spoke to Gu Siyu.
She hesitated for a while before stating the amount: one hundred thousand.
Gu Siyu nodded, agreeing to lend it to her.
One hundred thousand was no small sum; an IOU needed to be written. Gu Siyu opened her phone, found a legally binding IOU, and had Duan Jiayang sign it. After the whole process, Gu Siyu quickly transferred the money to her.
Gu Siyu said, “When you have money, I’m lending you one hundred thousand now. Later, when you seize power in the Duan family, you can give me an extra one million.”
Gu Siyu’s willingness to lend money was saving her from distress. Duan Jiayang acknowledged this favor with a soft “mm.” Her hands were clasped together, feeling very embarrassed. Gu Siyu leaned back, saying indifferently, “Running away was the most unwise choice.”
“I know, I’m going home for Chinese New Year,” Duan Jiayang said.
“If going back is to seize money, you can find me for help,” Gu Siyu smiled. “But I’ll need a share of the reward.”
“Okay,” Duan Jiayang’s eyes brightened slightly. She tilted her head, hugging a guitar case, and said, “I brought the guitar. Want to play a song?”
After the resident performer in the corner left, Gu Siyu went over with her guitar. She sat on a high stool, strummed a couple of chords, and began to softly sing.
“…Strange footprints left on the dilapidated stone steps, you said the trees were covered with lop-eared rabbits, you said Mr. XXX needed to see a psychiatrist… Swallows flew over old power lines, Captain Dragonfly practiced spreading its wings on the fence… The fairy tale world I’m in has no colorful picture books…”
The soft, slow melody clashed with the ear-splitting DJ music of a drunken night. If you didn’t listen carefully, you couldn’t tell what she was singing. Those who noticed her were either people troubled by love, shedding empathetic tears, or disreputable individuals who thought she was feigning innocence to hook someone.
There was no sheet music; she sang alone.
During this, her gaze fell on a corner of the bar.
A woman sat at the bar, propping her chin, her long legs placed together. The high stool seemed to shrink under her presence. The dark red ambient light overhead diffused, making the woman look exceptionally bewitching.
Beside her, the DJ’s lights flared, and the music reached another crescendo. This slow, clear tune seemed out of place.
Gu Siyu strummed the guitar again, singing the last few verses a cappella: “The lop-eared rabbit’s letter landed in the abandoned courtyard, Mr. XXX put on his old leather jacket, all the little animals found homes, settling down in the fairy tale.”
After singing, she returned, holding the guitar.
He Xiao and Duan Jiayang clapped enthusiastically. “Siyu, that was great!”
“From this far, you can’t hear a thing,” Gu Siyu said, sitting down with the guitar. She placed the guitar beside her and stretched as she leaned back.
“It really was good!” He Xiao continued clapping. “Siyu, you should be a singer!”
Gu Siyu didn’t take this flattery to heart.
He Xiao secretively patted her shoulder, pointing in a direction. “Look, see that beauty?”
“Saw her,” Gu Siyu nodded.
“Beautiful, right? That’s Huo Junxian. The moment she walked in, she was surrounded by people. She’s just a siren.”
Gu Siyu’s gaze rested on the bar, then retracted. “Is she prettier than me?” she asked.
“Hmm… no, I mean, you’re beautiful in different ways. You’re the hard-to-handle, wild, untamable type, while she’s easy to control. Take another look. What do you think of her?”
“Not bad. I want to possess her,” Gu Siyu evaluated.
The woman in the black dress sat quietly. She was incredibly beautiful, her ample figure mismatched with her serene face. People with greed in their hearts would spot her like prey at a glance.
She sat there for a minute. Men holding drinks, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, stretched out their hands, all wanting to touch her.
One man boldly pushed a glass of wine to her hand. Huo Junxian didn’t take it, but he was oblivious, continuing to push it closer until it touched her slender fingers. Her pink fingertip pressed against the white transparent glass. Huo Junxian lifted her eyes, her cold gaze seeming to resist.
The man became even more intrigued, smiling as he asked, “Want a drink?”
Her fingertip pressed hard on the glass, pushing down. The glass toppled over, the golden liquid inside rolling along the table’s grain. Moments later, the glass also fell to the floor and shattered.
She hadn’t said a word from beginning to end, appearing very ungracious.
The man slapped the table, a somewhat distorted smile on his lips.
He Xiao spotted this scene and quickly stood up, shaking her hand-clapper, yelling across the room, “Sister Huo, over here, we’re over here!”
Huo Junxian heard the sound and turned her head, her gaze landing on a certain spot. She blinked, then left the high stool, walking towards them from the crowd of “stinky men.”
Those men bit their lips, a little unwilling.
Gu Siyu tilted her head, her gaze bypassing those men, and frowned.
He Xiao was very excited. She kept slapping Duan Jiayang’s shoulder with her hand-clapper. “See? See? This is a hero saving a beauty!” Then she leaned in and chattered into Gu Siyu’s ear, “Don’t ever ask me, just know it’s happiness.”
Duan Jiayang chimed in, “Indeed, her br3asts are big.”
It wasn’t just the two of them; most people who noticed her here were looking at her chest.
He Xiao was quite happy. She was the only one there who was familiar with Huo Junxian, figuring Huo Junxian was coming for her. She patted the people on either side. “Quick, quick, make some space! Beautiful Sister will be here soon and won’t have anywhere to sit. Siyu, put your guitar on the table, that’ll clear up a spot.”
Duan Jiayang moved to the side, leaving a large gap, planning to have Huo Junxian sit there later.
They had cleared a spot, and Huo Junxian walked over, accompanied by the gazes of everyone in the bar.
“Can I sit here?” Huo Junxian asked.
He Xiao patted the empty space. “Yes, yes, Sister, sit here. You remember me, right?”
She looked eager, and Huo Junxian smiled and softly said she remembered.
As they squeezed and shifted, Gu Siyu uncrossed her legs. She looked up at Huo Junxian, who had stopped her forward movement and was now face-to-face with her.
“No room,” Gu Siyu said.
He Xiao thought she was being hostile and tugged at her sleeve, trying to smooth things over. “There’s room here for me. Come here.”
Gu Siyu still insisted. She patted her knee and said, “Miss Huo, sit on my lap.”
