The Consequences of Provoking a Crazy Beauty (GL) - Chapter 5
Gu Siyu propped her chin on her hand, tapping her fingers on the screen, trying to figure out how to take the picture. Huo Junxian’s action of hooking her shoulder strap was perfect for a shot, but she missed it. She decided to just say, “Pull your strap down?”
Huo Junxian looked at her, a smile in her eyes. Then she went to the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down, her long legs crossed. One leg slowly bent, her skirt subtly riding up, the slit reaching above her knee.
She looked incredibly seductive.
She leaned back and said, “Like this.”
“That works too. Bedside photos are even better,” Gu Siyu said with a smile.
Huo Junxian turned to grab a book, giving Gu Siyu an excellent angle for a shot. As Gu Siyu captured this alluring pose, the dog leash in her hand brushed against the headboard, its clasp clattering.
Gu Siyu held up her phone, adjusting the camera mode. As she snapped photos, she said, “Huo Junxian, are you really so unguarded?”
Huo Junxian returned with a book, flipping through the pages until she found where she left off, and took out a bookmark, placing it on the table.
She began to read.
Gu Siyu truly wanted to teach Huo Junxian a lesson, to make her understand that there were many bad people in this world, not to be unreservedly kind to others, and not to pour her heart out for anyone.
Many people pretend to be good to you, but actually have ulterior motives.
She was a perfect example of this.
Huo Junxian seemed engrossed in her book. She slightly raised her head and looked at the dog leash in Gu Siyu’s hand. “Stop playing with that, don’t hit yourself.”
It was just a dog leash; how much could it hurt if it hit her? Gu Siyu was touched by her concern. Gu Siyu draped the leash on the headboard and said, “Weren’t you going to tie me up?”
Huo Junxian lowered her gaze again. Gu Siyu smiled. She used her phone to take close-up shots of Huo Junxian. Huo Junxian was so interesting, and the photos turned out beautifully, full of atmosphere, creating a warm, hazy ambiance without special lighting.
“What book are you reading?” Gu Siyu asked curiously. “Let me see.”
Huo Junxian lifted the book forward, letting her see the title.
{Comment dompter un chien}
Gu Siyu saw the title but didn’t recognize a single word.
*Is it English?*
*What does “Comment” mean again?*
Huo Junxian offered the book closer for Gu Siyu to read together. Gu Siyu glanced at the dense pinyin, couldn’t understand it, and decided to just accept her lack of education.
She suspected Huo Junxian was doing it on purpose.
Gu Siyu pointed her phone at Huo Junxian again. This time, she was closer, capturing a half-body portrait that filled the entire screen. The visual impact was stunning.
She lowered the camera, just about to take a shot, when her phone rang. Jin Yuansen was calling. Huo Junxian looked up at her. Gu Siyu lightly clicked her tongue, wondering if she should save the photo first, then slid to answer.
Jin Yuansen’s voice on the other end was somewhat urgent. “Where are the photos?”
Gu Siyu hadn’t even replied when Jin Yuansen asked, “You wouldn’t lie to me, would you? I don’t like people playing with money. If there are no photos, and you don’t listen, I’ll stop the card.”
It was quite laughable. In the time Gu Siyu had been with Jin Yuansen, he had given her one card, with at most ten thousand yuan on it. If Gu Siyu didn’t obey, he’d stop the card.
He thought he was quite impressive, controlling the economic lifeline.
Gu Siyu: *Stingy.*
Gu Siyu: “What’s the hurry? Your wife’s lying in bed.”
Jin Yuansen immediately fell silent. He lowered his voice and said, “What’s she doing?”
“Sleeping.”
“Can you video call?”
“The room lights aren’t on. It’s pitch black, are you sure?”
“Hurry up and take photos,” Jin Yuansen urged.
Ten thousand yuan was no small sum; Jin Yuansen definitely wanted to see results. After hanging up, Gu Siyu took out her phone and started taking pictures. The room was quite bright. She aimed the camera at Huo Junxian. Huo Junxian was very photogenic. If only she would smile. She tapped the shutter button a few more times. All the photos were saved, but she didn’t send any of Huo Junxian’s.
Jin Yuansen softly prompted, “Check the cabinet. Don’t wake Huo Junxian. Be quiet.”
Gu Siyu moved the camera to the bedside table. Looking at the calm Huo Junxian, she blinked, as if asking, “Do you mind if I look?”
Huo Junxian didn’t say anything. Gu Siyu walked over with her phone and opened Huo Junxian’s bedside drawer. She opened it, then looked back at Huo Junxian, who was calmly turning the pages of her book, the faint rustle of paper audible.
The cabinet was stuffed with things. Gu Siyu hadn’t expected to find anything inside. At the bottom was a thick document, a brown kraft paper envelope simply labeled “Asset Liquidation.” She took out the kraft paper bag, loosened the string by half a turn, and was about to pull out the documents inside.
Huo Junxian’s fingers suddenly gripped her wrist, pulling it upwards forcefully. Gu Siyu hadn’t even reacted. Very suddenly, Huo Junxian dragged her onto the bed. Subconsciously, she hid the document behind her, not giving it to Huo Junxian.
“Gu Siyu,” she said, “Give it back to me.”
On the other end, Jin Yuansen heard the noise, and his cigarette burned his hand. He quickly hung up the phone. Jin Yuansen clutched his phone, his eyes deep. He closed his eyes, looking terrified, and kept panting.
His assistant handed him a tissue. “Mr. Jin, what happened?”
Jin Yuansen said, “Gu Siyu was discovered.”
He exhaled, somewhat panicked.
The assistant asked, “What should we do then? Will it affect you?”
“It’s the same whether it’s discovered early or late. I just need to figure out if Huo Junxian has any assets. Since she does…heh, then I won’t be polite.” Jin Yuansen bit his cigarette, saying unhurriedly, “Gu Siyu is useless now. Even if Huo Junxian doesn’t drive her away, I’ll have to find a way to make her leave. She only loves money; she has no loyalty to me.”
To put it plainly, he was just using Gu Siyu’s intelligence and boldness. Now that Gu Siyu had what he wanted, feelings were just a fart.
“Oh.” The assistant took his cigarette to prevent him from burning himself again.
The small break room was filled with the smell of cigarette smoke. Jin Yuansen exhaled his last puff. “Huo Junxian, that crazy woman, installed a bunch of surveillance cameras at home long ago. There’s no freedom at all; everything has to be under her control. She’ll even stare at you when you turn over in your sleep.”
“Surveillance?” The assistant was shocked. “No privacy? I thought the madam was quite gentle.”
“A lunatic cares about your privacy? She wishes she could monitor your every move, from eating to using the bathroom. In her eyes, you’re worse than a dog.” As Jin Yuansen spoke, he didn’t know if it was from anger or trembling. He belatedly felt the pain; cigarette ash had just fallen on the back of his hand, which had been bitten by the poodle, making him grimace.
“Damn it…” Jin Yuansen cursed under his breath. “When the time comes, not only Huo Junxian but also her dog will have to get out.”
Saying this, his fingers were still trembling a bit. Then he stood up and said, “I’m going to the company.”
Jin Yuansen was going to protect his assets. Gu Siyu had gone to the Huo family with him. Huo Junxian, discovering Gu Siyu stole something, would surely want Gu Siyu’s life. Gu Siyu’s life or death had nothing to do with him. What truly moved him was the company’s interests. He only feared Huo Junxian targeting him.
He flicked the cigarette ash from his clothes.
As he left, a smile played on his lips. He pushed up his glasses. He was restrained, his face showing no emotion, but the moment he turned around, triumph was evident on his face.
••••
Meanwhile, in the room, Gu Siyu blinked, took a deep breath, and stood up straight. She picked up the document that had fallen to the floor. She looked back at Huo Junxian, who had closed her eyes, letting Gu Siyu do whatever she wanted, no longer struggling.
Gu Siyu looked down at her chest, feeling irritated. She hadn’t showered yet and felt uncomfortable all over. She said, “Lend me some clothes.”
Huo Junxian didn’t say anything. Gu Siyu went into the bathroom. She stripped naked and looked at her body. *Oh.*
*Not bad.*
Huo Junxian was poisonous, inflicting internal wounds on her.
Her skin wasn’t red, but inside, she was burning hot.
The bathroom light wasn’t on. Borrowing light from the bedroom, it was like a glimpse of spring, stealing a ray or two of light. After she finished showering, the lights in the room also turned off.
Gu Siyu didn’t want to leave this room yet. She would sleep here tonight. Huo Junxian didn’t drive her away, so Gu Siyu directly lay on the bed.
Her movements were too big. *Thud.* The dog leash from last night fell to the floor with a clatter.
••••
Daylight broke, and Gu Siyu examined the room closely again.
She hadn’t seen clearly last night, but today she finally got a good look. The bedroom was quite large, with a huge bookshelf behind the wall, and there seemed to be more space behind it.
As for what was stored there, she didn’t know.
To the left of the bed was a sofa and a warm yellow dog bed. A picture frame hung on the wall, enclosing an oil painting.
A woman in a warm yellow long dress sat on the ground. The wind was blowing, her long hair swept back. A little poodle lay by her legs, her fingers resting on its head. In one hand, she held a book, and a bright smile played on the side of her face.
Fiery clouds illuminated the sky, and the continuous mountains were tinged with red.
The poodle stared blankly ahead, its limbs uncoordinated, tilted as if saying, “Oh?”
Recognizing the person was easy: looking at her chest, the deep V of the warm yellow dress was supported by two thin straps, heavy, as if about to snap.
And that silly dog saying “oh.”
It was a very large oil painting, but the woman in the painting looked very young.
Around seventeen or eighteen years old.
How old was Huo Junxian now? Twenty-seven or twenty-eight?
*Was this the difference between a girl and a young married woman?*
Lost in thought, Huo Junxian emerged from the walk-in closet.
She wore a white dress that looked somewhat similar to the one in the painting, with a deep V, but now she was more voluptuous than before. Huo Junxian swept her hair behind her ear.
Gu Siyu didn’t annoy her. Knowing she was about to go out, she immediately left the bedroom. The moment her leg stepped out, she saw the poodle at the door.
“Woof!”
“Good morning,” Gu Siyu greeted it.
“Woof woof woof!”
Huo Junxian picked up the dog. “Are you hungry?”
Gu Siyu was quick to respond, “I’m hungry.”
“Woof woof woof!” The poodle barked fiercely, even letting out a warning growl.
“I’ll make you something delicious. Be a good boy,” Huo Junxian’s voice was very soft, almost melting into Gu Siyu’s ears. Gu Siyu no longer went downstairs, taking the words as if they were meant for her. She rested her hand on the railing and asked, “Huo Junxian, when was the oil painting in your room painted?”
Huo Junxian walked downstairs, holding the dog.
Gu Siyu said, “Teenage years?”
Huo Junxian stopped her steps. “Sixty years old.”
“…”
Gu Siyu said, “I couldn’t tell. May I ask your current age?”
Huo Junxian’s lips twitched, looking like a smile. Descending the stairs, she put the dog down and said softly, “Slowly.”
Gu Siyu took this as being said to her, and walked downstairs.
Huo Junxian’s life was very simple: doing housework and preparing meals, over and over again. Gu Siyu sat on the sofa watching her, not finding it boring, but rather finding this woman very peculiar.
There was one difference today: Huo Junxian took out a record, placed it on an old-fashioned record player with a golden horn, a vintage color. The music would have static crackling.
Huo Junxian turned on the robot vacuum. She was playing with the robot; the robot would mop a bit ahead, and she would supplement it behind. Water boiled. She washed her hands, poured the water into a cup, and then dropped two jasmine petals into it.
The record player sang:
“Dans ton sanctuaire de mensonges.” (In your sanctuary of lies.)
“Tristement, enflamme-toi” (Sadly, ignite yourself)
“Je suis profondément fasciné par toi, tes yeux adorables sont pleins de mensonges.” (I am deeply fascinated by you, your adorable eyes are full of lies.)
“Combien de secrets connaissez-vous de la nuit.” (How many secrets do you know of the night.)
Gu Siyu didn’t understand a single word.
From upstairs to downstairs, all of Gu Siyu’s words carried a probing tone. She was testing whether Huo Junxian would revert to her initial cold attitude towards her overnight. Clearly not. She had to seize this opportunity.
“Huo Junxian,” Gu Siyu went over and took the mop from Huo Junxian’s hand. She usually just watched from the side, but this was her first time actively helping. She said, “I’ll help you.”
Huo Junxian turned to look at her. Gu Siyu used a bit of skill to take the mop from her. She whispered in Huo Junxian’s ear, “As long as you’re good to me, I’ll be good to you too.”
The morning sun of summer was soft, falling on Huo Junxian’s face. Huo Junxian’s calmness held a softness. Her red lips parted. The shape of her lips, if they made a sound, would be a “good,” quickly giving her an answer.
Gu Siyu continued to entice, “You can play however you want. Actually, you like to play too, don’t you?”
However, Huo Junxian couldn’t utter a single word. Her gaze passed over Gu Siyu and fell outside the courtyard. The sound of a car engine drifted in.
Gu Siyu frowned, unhappily turning to look outside with her.
She saw a car parked outside the door, a completely black Bentley, very grand. Sparse tree shadows fell on the car’s hood. The driver got out first, then respectfully opened the car door, holding his hand over the roof for the person inside to step out. Then a long leg emerged, followed by the owner’s beautiful face—
It was the female neighbor.
Gu Siyu looked at Huo Junxian. Huo Junxian’s gaze had already passed over her, completely captivated by the face outside. This made Gu Siyu very unhappy. These two days had been a waste, and jumping from the building was pointless. She felt quite annoyed thinking about it.
“Huo Junxian,” she called out.
Huo Junxian didn’t respond.
*Annoying.*
Gu Siyu’s fingers twitched. She directly grabbed Huo Junxian’s chin and pressed her own lips against it. Huo Junxian froze, staring blankly at her. Gu Siyu kissed and pushed, backing her against the sofa. She bit Huo Junxian’s lip hard and said, “Respond to me.”
Author’s Note:
{Comment dompter un chien} is a French book, “How to Tame a Wild Dog.” I saw it in the library before, hahaha.
Lack of education is truly terrifying! Everyone, don’t be like her; study hard!
If you refresh, check out the cover image. There’s a surprise, a big bear beauty, hehe.
