The Crazy Fox Demon Devours My Heart - Chapter 29
Fu Yin noticed some movement in the courtyard.
“Princess… isn’t that Ye Die’er? Why did she fly out of the Young Master’s room?”
Qingyu, who had been in a state of confusion earlier, now calmed down and sensed something was wrong.
Fragments of memory lingered in her mind, refusing to fade. At that time, she had been in a haze, as if poisoned.
In those fragments, her eyes had been filled with seductive intent; she had actively clung to Hu Yan, her body burning and restless, as if insects were gnawing at her, unbearable and uncontrollable. It was only after Hu Yan bit her that she gradually regained clarity.
Thinking about the scene of Hu Yan losing control, she wondered: had he drawn the poison into himself?
Cangya came running frantically from outside. “Your Highness, please, go check on the Young Master!”
Fu Yin asked, “What happened to the Young Master?”
“There’s no time to explain. Please, Your Highness, help the Young Master!”
Qingyu touched the bandages around her neck, her eyes lowered. “I can’t help him.”
It was indeed surprising that he had drawn the poison onto himself, but if she were to help him neutralize it, she simply couldn’t manage.
“You are the Young Master’s fiancée. If even you refuse, then who else can help him?”
Qingyu’s brow furrowed in turmoil. Everything else was manageable, but that… was absolutely impossible.
Ye Die’er lifted her skirts and crossed the threshold, stepping inside. “I can.”
“You wish!” Fu Yin, though unaware of the full details, knew that anything involving Ye Die’er could not end well.
Ignoring Fu Yin, Ye Die’er moved toward Qingyu and performed a graceful bow. “I ask Your Highness to assist me.”
“How do you want me to help you?”
“Your Highness need only lend me some clothing.”
Qingyu picked up a teacup, blew gently across the tea leaves on the surface, and replied calmly, “Fine.”
She had a rough idea of Ye Die’er’s intentions but didn’t care. If Ye Die’er could truly change Hu Yan’s heart, break their engagement, and have him marry her instead, then that would be perfect. This was a win-win situation, and naturally, Qingyu didn’t object.
Cangya’s eyes widened—he hadn’t expected the princess to actually agree. Was she really pushing the Young Master toward another woman? What was the princess thinking?
“But will the Young Master agree…?”
Ye Die’er’s expression was determined. “By then, I’ll transform into Your Highness. When the Young Master is unaware, he won’t be able to tell the difference.”
“This is to help the Young Master. We both know that if the poison isn’t properly dealt with, the consequences would be disastrous—for you, me, and the entire demon realm!”
Cangya still felt this was extremely risky. Letting the Young Master mistake Ye Die’er for the princess could have unimaginable consequences if he ever discovered the truth.
Ye Die’er continued to coax, “As long as we keep this a secret, the Young Master will always believe it is Princess Qingyu who neutralizes the poison tonight.”
Late at night, black clouds obscured the moon, casting the room in dim light.
Ye Die’er applied rouge and penciled her eyebrows, wearing the red garments Qingyu usually favored. She touched her reflection in the mirror.
Tonight, if her plan succeeded, she would reveal everything to the public. With the Second Young Master and the clan leaders applying pressure, the Young Master would have no choice but to compromise, abandon Qingyu, and marry her instead.
A strange, seductive smile appeared on her face, and as she stood, her reflection in the mirror already showed Qingyu’s elegant, composed visage.
Cangya anxiously watched the “princess” push open the Young Master’s room and close the door behind her.
Meanwhile, Fu Yin was pacing nervously in another room.
“Princess, what exactly are you planning? Why would Ye Die’er borrow your clothes?”
Qingyu emptied her teacup and then recounted the events of the afternoon to Fu Yin.
Fu Yin’s eyes widened like copper bells. “What?!”
“Why are you only telling me now?”
Fu Yin was too furious to speak clearly. “Princess, are you… out of your mind? Why would you push the Young Master toward someone else? That Ye Die’er clearly has ill intentions! What if tonight she uses this opportunity to seduce the Young Master and he abandons you to marry her?”
Qingyu’s expression remained calm. “All the better.”
“All the better?!” Fu Yin felt like an ant on a hot pan, unable to calm down.
No, she had to stop Ye Die’er!
Fu Yin burst open the door, dashing toward the Young Master’s room.
Cangya blocked her at the entrance.
“Let go of me!”
Understanding her intent, Cangya wouldn’t let her interfere. As they struggled, the door suddenly shattered. Ye Die’er, covered in bl00d, flew out.
“Save… save me!” She tried to flee, grievously injured, bl00d gushing from her mouth, pleading to the two at the doorway.
Cangya and Fu Yin froze in shock.
Hu Yan’s face was ashen, eyes brimming with murderous intent. Red patterns crawled across his face, giving him a demonic, terrifying appearance.
He raised his hand, gathering his demonic energy into a weapon, and struck at Ye Die’er without hesitation.
Instinctively, Ye Die’er staggered backward, trembling. “Young Master, spare me!”
Where his power struck, a black pit formed—but Ye Die’er was nowhere to be found.
Shui He had pulled Ye Die’er aside at the last moment.
Ye Die’er, thinking herself doomed, saw Shui He as a lifeline and clung to her. “Sister Shui He, save me!”
Shui He knelt before Hu Yan. “Young Master, for the Elder Lady’s sake, spare Die’er. I promise she will never appear before you again.”
Ye Die’er, face tear-streaked, kowtowed repeatedly. “Young Master, spare me! I will never do it again! The princess ordered me to act this way—I had no choice but to commit this offense.”
“You say… the princess ordered you to do this?” Hu Yan’s voice was low, hoarse, calm, and terrifying, like a coming storm.
“If the princess had not consented, I would never have acted on my own!”
Cangya frowned in displeasure, unsure of what to say—after all, the princess had indeed agreed.
Silence fell over the courtyard. The night wind howled like ghosts and wolves, chilling to the bone.
Hu Yan’s eyes glimmered with wetness as he gazed at the figure in red. A bitter smile tugged at his lips, and with unbounded loneliness, he slowly turned toward the brightly lit room.
Shui He exhaled slightly in relief—Die’er’s life had been spared.
The Young Master’s current appearance was terrifying. Fu Yin, worried for the princess, prepared to follow.
Cangya stopped her. “I advise you not to go disturb them now.”
“Everything’s messed up tonight. The Young Master will demand an explanation from the princess!”
Fu Yin struggled, slapping Cangya’s hand. “He will definitely go confront her! I must be with the princess—let go of me!”
Seeing Hu Yan’s fearsome state, Cangya knew he was more dangerous than usual. If Fu Yin rashly rushed in, the Young Master could end her life with a mere gesture.
Ignoring her struggles, Cangya lifted her onto his shoulders and left the courtyard.
Now, only Hu Yan and Qingyu remained in the lakeside courtyard.
