The Crazy Fox Demon Devours My Heart - Chapter 30
Qingyu had no intention of joining the commotion next door. She untied her hair, washed her face and mouth, and was drying the water with a handkerchief when she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, as if something was staring at her intently.
Even though she was prepared, her body shivered involuntarily.
Fox Yan was standing at the doorway, staring at her. His face was pale, devoid of any color, and those strange, terrifying markings had appeared again.
Fox Yan? Shouldn’t he…?
Seeing him like this, he must have fallen ill again. How could he be so ineffective, falling ill at such an inconvenient time?
Was he here to seek her help for his illness?
Qingyu casually reached out her hand. “Come quickly, don’t make me wait too long.”
As soon as she spoke, she noticed his expression darkening, and he didn’t reach for her hand.
It was as if something important had been overlooked.
She suddenly remembered Ye Die’er mentioning that she could transform to look like her. But now Fox Yan was standing in front of her — which meant the matter had been exposed!
Yet why was he so calm? Calm enough to be frightening.
Was it successful… or not?
Qingyu withdrew her hand and hesitantly asked, “Has your poison been cured?”
Fox Yan stared at her silently. His voice was even, yet it carried an inexplicable danger. “Do you wish for me to be cured?”
His calm reaction left Qingyu unsure whether he was happy or angry. She tried to reassure him. “Of course I want you cured. As long as the poison is gone, it doesn’t matter who helps you.”
“Doesn’t matter…” Fox Yan murmured, lowering his eyes. When he opened them again, they burned with hatred and resentment. “Why shouldn’t I care?”
His voice was low and dangerous, the tail of his words curling upward. “Wouldn’t it be better if Ah Yu cured me?”
Qingyu’s heart leapt. “What do you want to do?”
Fox Yan tilted his head slightly, his eyes deep as the sea, filled with endless allure. “What do I want to do? Of course… I want you.”
Panic flashed in Qingyu’s eyes, and she glanced at the dark courtyard outside.
The entire courtyard was pitch-black and silent, clearly only the two of them.
She clenched her fingers, forcing herself to calm down. “You can’t do this. If you don’t like Ye Die’er, you could find someone else. There are plenty of women in the demon realm who admire you.”
“You still want to use others to deceive me!” His sharp features were tinged with fury as he reached out toward her.
Her body flew uncontrollably into his broad, cold embrace. His fox tail snaked up from her ankle, coiling tightly around her slender waist.
His lips, sharp as a blade, pressed against her pale ear, exhaling hot breath, his low voice uttering words impossible to resist, “The one who cures me must be you… and only you!”
Fox Yan held her tightly, gripping her smooth, jade-like jaw to force her to look up. Despite the fear in her starry eyes, he leaned down and kissed her.
Their lips pressed together, entwined in a frenzy, as if trying to swallow every drop of bl00d and tears.
In the struggle, their clothes were torn and slid off one by one. Fox Yan picked up the barely clad Qingyu, passing through the screen and moving toward the inner chamber.
“Let go of me, Fox Yan! You bastard!” Qingyu shouted in terror.
“Ah Yu, the more you curse me, the longer I will take you,” Fox Yan’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “One word… one hour.”
“You… shameless!”
As she was laid on the soft couch, Qingyu kept retreating, the gauzy curtains swaying, partially obscuring his extraordinarily handsome face.
Fox Yan watched her quietly, eyes wild and fervent. His long fingers slowly untied the red ribbon in her hair, letting her black hair cascade down her waist in silky strands, beautiful yet oddly unsettling.
He wrapped the ribbon around his palm, his gaze dropping to her hands, eyes deep and tumultuous.
The intention in his eyes was clear. Qingyu quickly hid her hands behind her back.
“Did Ah Yu reach out herself… or shall I help you take your hand out?”
Qingyu retreated to the far side of the bed, with nowhere left to go. “Do you really intend to force me like this?”
“Looks like Ah Yu wants me to help you,” Fox Yan said, leaning closer.
Qingyu was pinned down, one hand caught. The red ribbon was about to wrap around her when her palm accidentally touched a round object on his neck. In a flustered motion, she grabbed it and threw it away.
The jade pendant hit the ground with a crisp sound. Fox Yan froze, staring at the broken pieces for a long time.
Qingyu seized the opportunity to break free, slipping from under him and running toward the door. Just as she reached it, the main door slammed shut with a bang, impossible to open.
Fox Yan got up and picked up the fragments from the floor, trying to piece the pendant back together. His fingertips were pricked, but he didn’t notice. Bl00d soaked his palm, dripping onto the ground.
No matter how he tried, the broken pendant could not be restored. Even if it could be forcefully patched together, it would never be complete.
He continued for a long time, fingers trembling uncontrollably, clutching the fragments tightly in his palm, eyes scanning everywhere as if trapped in some madness. “One piece is missing… where is the last piece…”
Qingyu pressed her back against the door, watching his almost insane state. She tightened and relaxed her fists, coldly saying, “It’s broken, so it’s broken. Even if you find that piece, it won’t be like it was before.”
“But… it’s the only thing you gave me,” Fox Yan said, looking at her, eyes misty, voice choking. He seemed like a child who had lost a treasured possession.
Qingyu carefully recalled the pendant’s shape. She suddenly remembered it was the item exchanged when she bought the messenger crow earlier — and he had worn it all this time.
“It’s broken… it’s just an object. Why be so attached?”
Fox Yan stared at her, eyes filled with obsessive intensity. “And if I insist on being attached?”
A shiver of unease ran through Qingyu’s heart. She sharpened her tone. “Too much obsession will bring no good result.”
Fox Yan suddenly lunged, grabbing her arm tightly, eyes fixed on her every expression, as if searching for a lifeline in them. His voice trembled slightly. “Have you… ever had even a bit of affection for me?”
Qingyu ignored the pain in her arm, looking straight at him. Her voice was calm, but her words chilled like winter snow. “No.”
“Wouldn’t it be better if someone willingly cured me? Why insist that no one else come near you?”
Fox Yan seemed to suffer a huge blow. He bent slightly, staggering back two steps, his face almost transparently pale. The markings on him appeared even more terrifying, his voice nearly a scream. “Even if you don’t like me… you needn’t humiliate me like this!”
“Using others to shame me!”
“Ning Qingyu! How cold-hearted you are!” His voice hoarse, he spat a mouthful of bl00d, collapsing like a butterfly with broken wings, hitting the ground heavily.
Qingyu didn’t dare step forward immediately and watched from a distance.
When he remained still for a long time, she hesitated, cautiously approached to check on him, feeling his breathing.
Fortunately… he was still alive.
