- The Crazy Fox Demon Devours My Heart
- Chapter 40 - The Visitor Comes with Ill Intent
The visitor was no friend.
Shanan gripped his long sword tightly, the tip pointing straight ahead. “Who are you?”
A messenger crow flapped its wings, circled the camp twice, and then flew into the innermost tent.
A cold, piercing gaze immediately landed on that tent. A handsome face curved into an excited, wicked, and dangerous smile.
“I’ve found you.”
Dozens of soldiers with spears formed a barrier in front of him.
The dangerous, seductive eyes narrowed. With a single strike, the soldiers in front of him were sent flying, each severely wounded.
These were elite troops, carefully selected veterans who had spilled their bl00d on the battlefield. Yet not one could withstand even a single attack from this man!
Shanan, furious, thrust his sword forward!
Fox Yan extended his fingers and effortlessly caught the tip of the blade. Even with Shanan’s full strength, the sword could not advance an inch.
Impatience showed on Fox Yan’s handsome face. With a slight press of his fingers, the blade shattered inch by inch.
Shanan was shocked and immediately dropped the hilt, taking two steps back. Channeling his energy into his palms, he struck toward Fox Yan’s face.
Fox Yan tilted his head slightly, the gust of force brushing past his cheek, effortlessly neutralizing the attack.
Shanan realized he was no match for this person.
He slashed his palm, then slammed it onto the ground. Bl00d seeped into the earth.
The ground trembled. Strange runes lit up, forming layer upon layer around Fox Yan, trapping him.
Shanan exhaled slightly. This formation was unbreakable; no matter how strong this man was, he could not escape.
The soldiers around, seeing Fox Yan trapped, struggled to their feet and picked up their spears.
“General, now’s our chance! Kill him while he can’t move!”
Fox Yan’s eyes glinted with cold steel. He paid no heed to the formation. Rising onto his toes, he unleashed the overwhelming power of his claws and slammed them forward.
Boom! The formation flashed blinding white light and trembled violently.
It was about to collapse!
Shanan could hardly believe what he saw. Ordinary demons could never break this formation!
Fox Yan hadn’t even fully broken the formation yet. He narrowed his eyes; his fox tails appeared behind him. A violent gust rose, black hair whipping in the wind, and his pupils turned pure gold. With a ferocious strike of his tails, the formation shattered, and the white light vanished.
Shanan stared in shock at the eight massive fox tails. It was… an eight-tailed fox!
The more tails a fox demon had, the stronger it was. The most powerful was the nine-tailed fox, capable of destroying heaven and earth — extremely rare.
This fox demon, though one tail short, was already beyond ordinary combatants. Perhaps only a master could subdue him.
Fox Yan stepped out of the shattered formation, his eyes coldly scanning Shanan. In an instant, he appeared beside him, gripping his neck tightly.
The soldiers rushed forward, determined to fight the demon to the death!
Fox Yan ignored the spears aimed at him. With a sweep of his eight tails, the charging soldiers were all sent flying like ants.
Shanan struggled under his grip, his neck almost breaking, his face turning a dark purple.
A stern shout rang from nearby. “Stop!”
Qingyu awoke abruptly, startled by the sounds of battle. She opened her eyes and saw the messenger crow hanging upside down in the tent, its black eyes staring at her.
Her heart skipped a beat — she had forgotten to release this little creature before leaving! Fox Yan must have followed it here!
She hadn’t expected him to arrive so quickly. Their carriage had traveled nonstop for three days to get here, and he almost immediately caught up.
This man was insane!
Did he not rest at all?
Qingyu hastily threw on a coat and ran outside, witnessing the terrifying scene.
Shanan was about to be strangled to death!
“Fox Yan, let him go!”
Fox Yan’s gaze locked on the person who had appeared in the tent. His attention did not shift, his chest thundering violently, his heart pounding so fiercely it was almost uncontrollable.
He released his grip and strode forward urgently toward Qingyu.
Three days… three whole days, he had thought of her every moment.
Qingyu ran to him. As he reached out to embrace her, she sidestepped him and ran to Shanan’s side.
She didn’t glance at him once.
Freed, Shanan could finally breathe smoothly, coughing repeatedly.
Qingyu patted his back, concerned. “Senior Brother, are you alright?”
Fox Yan felt a pang in his chest, as if pierced by needles, his heart aching with jealousy and rage.
She insisted on leaving… for this man?
For a mere man, she would abandon him.
Jealousy surged, shattering all reason. His fox tails extended silently toward Shanan, gripping his neck and lifting him into the air.
“Senior Brother!”
Qingyu’s heart raced. In desperation, she formed hand seals, casting a spell at the fox tails.
The tails shivered lightly but did not release him.
Fox Yan could not believe it — she had dared to strike him, someone who had endured countless grievous wounds. None had compared to this pain, a pain that pierced to the bone.
For this man, she had attacked him.
Fox Yan’s lips curled into a grim, bitter smile, fury burning in his eyes.
“You care so much for him… I will not let him live!”
Another fox tail extended, its tip needle-sharp, aiming at Shanan’s heart, poised to strike.
“Mo Mo, don’t!” Qingyu shouted.
The tail froze, hovering an inch from Shanan’s chest.
Her voice trembled. “Mo Mo… don’t hurt him.”
Fox Yan looked deeply into her eyes, a hint of tears in them. “You’ve chosen him, haven’t you?”
“She ran from me… for him.”
Qingyu was bewildered. What nonsense!
She simply wanted her senior brother to be safe.
“Senior Sister, don’t worry about me. Just go!” Shanan seemed to realize that this was the demon betrothed to his junior sister.
He hadn’t expected him to pursue her alone.
Qingyu softened her tone, attempting to calm him. “Mo Mo, please let him go first. We can talk later.”
Fox Yan’s gaze darkened. His low voice commanded, “Come to me.”
“Senior Sister, don’t go!”
His eyes grew cold as he tightened his grip on Shanan.
Seeing the situation worsening, Qingyu said urgently, “I’m coming… Mo Mo, don’t hurt him.”
“Come… to my side.” His gaze was obsessive, impatient.
“All right, I’m coming.” Qingyu moved gradually closer to him.
Shanan, seeing his junior sister walk toward the demon for his sake, felt humiliated. Secretly, his fingers searched inside his sleeve.
He could not allow this demon to take his sister!
Fox Yan’s focus remained entirely on Qingyu, unaware of Shanan’s small movement.
Shanan drew out a talisman from his sleeve and threw it while Fox Yan was distracted.
The talisman struck Fox Yan’s chest, releasing a surge of dark energy. He coughed up a mouthful of bl00d and collapsed as if all his strength had been drained.
Shanan felt a flicker of satisfaction seeing the fallen fox demon.
This talisman, a gift from his master, contained half of his master’s spiritual energy, capable of exorcising evil and subduing countless demons.
Before leaving, his master had instructed him to use it for self-preservation if necessary.
Indeed, against this fox demon, it worked!
