Chapter 1: Transmigrated, Becoming the Villain’s Fiancée…
In the quiet hospital room, Jiang Chilou groggily opened her eyes. Looking at the familiar yet strange surroundings, she couldn’t help but close her eyes again, slowly sifting through the memories that did not belong to her.
After a long while, her eyelids fluttered, and a pair of starry eyes slowly opened, shimmering with light.
Jiang Chilou hadn’t expected to transmigrate into a dual-female-protagonist novel she had once read after her death.
She had become the early-deceased fiancée of the villain, Gu Wan.
Jiang Chilou’s gaze focused on the white bedsheet for a moment. She couldn’t help but cross-reference the memory in her mind with the timeline in the book, realizing with a jolt that this was precisely the point where the original owner had died.
In the original novel, the original owner had little presence, only being mentioned a few times: that she died in an accident before the wedding, turning the joyous occasion for the Gu and Jiang families into a funeral. Afterward, someone—it was unclear who—used the incident to spread malicious rumors about Gu Wan.
But not long after, the businesses of those families suffered varying degrees of setbacks, leaving them utterly distraught. Since then, careful people no longer dared to discuss anything concerning Gu Wan, lest they invite disaster upon themselves.
Just as she thought of this, Jiang Chilou vaguely heard voices coming from outside the hospital room.
“A-Wan, the doctor said Lulu is fine now and can be discharged today.” The woman’s voice paused here, then continued with a smile: “You’re so busy, you really didn’t have to specially come to pick us up.”
“Aunt Jiang is joking. It’s just what I should do.” Gu Wan offered a faint smile: “I’m just wondering, given Miss Jiang’s current condition, do my wedding with her need to be postponed?”
Jiang Mingyan: “There’s no need to postpone the wedding, let’s proceed as scheduled.” After all, all the invitations have been sent out. Some people who live far away have even started flying over, waiting for the wedding two days from now. Postponing the wedding now would bring no good.
“As for Lulu… I will try to arrange more people to look after her that day.”
Hearing that the wedding didn’t need to be postponed, the smile on Gu Wan’s lips deepened: “That’s good. But Miss Jiang will have it tough.”
“I will treat her well in the future.”
Jiang Mingyan: “It’s enough if the two of you have a good life together.”
As the conversation ended, there was a click, the doorknob was pressed down, and the white door slowly opened.
Two people slowly walked in.
Jiang Chilou raised her eyes at the sound and met the gaze of the two people who entered one after the other.
She briefly scanned their faces, her sight involuntarily lingering for a moment on the latter’s beautiful features.
Soon, she retracted her gaze and looked at the elegantly dressed woman in front, calling out: “Mom.”
Jiang Mingyan nodded with a gentle smile, then turned to point at Gu Wan: “Lulu, look who’s here?”
With Jiang Mingyan no longer blocking the view, when Jiang Chilou looked again, she saw a slender and lean figure.
Her black hair reached her waist, and a tea-brown shirt outlined her slender shoulders and back. Black high-waisted trousers tucked the brown shirt hem into her delicate waist.
Jiang Chilou roughly scanned the person in front, her gaze unconsciously resting on the dark agarwood prayer beads on that person’s left hand for a moment.
A little later, she finally raised her head and focused her sight on the person’s extremely beautiful face.
She blinked: “Gu Wan.”
Gu Wan lowered her eyes, slowly looking at the woman reclining on the hospital bed.
A thick piece of gauze was taped to her forehead, and her lips were pale. She should have looked weak and haggard due to low bl00d circulation, but when her bright eyes blinked, they somehow dispelled some of the sickliness on her face.
In an instant, she looked clear and ethereal.
Gu Wan couldn’t help but pause.
Those eyes are truly beautiful.
She rubbed her fingertips together, and a slight curve appeared on her lips: “Miss Jiang, congratulations on your discharge.”
“I’ve come to take you and Aunt Jiang home.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou’s gaze involuntarily shifted to Jiang Mingyan.
Jiang Mingyan nodded: “A-Wan did specially come to pick us up, and to see you too.”
After speaking, Jiang Mingyan glanced at the gauze on Jiang Chilou’s forehead and hesitantly asked: “Lulu, your wedding two days from now cannot be postponed and should be held as planned. Are you okay with that?”
Jiang Chilou was stunned for a few seconds before softly saying: “I’m fine.”
With the wedding imminent, she seemed to have no choice but to say she was fine.
Everyone in the Gu and Jiang families, including Gu Wan, was delighted by this marriage.
Moreover, marrying Gu Wan, she realized upon careful consideration, wasn’t actually a bad thing.
Because once she and Gu Wan married, they would both move out of the Jiang and Gu family homes and into the marital villa they owned. At that point, she would only have to deal with Gu Wan, which would be more freedom than being at the Jiang family home.
Thinking this, a hint of expectation involuntarily crept into Jiang Chilou’s eyes.
Noticing this, Gu Wan’s gaze subtly deepened.
This person seems different from the first time they met.
Gu Wan glanced at Jiang Chilou’s forehead, lightly kneading her index finger.
Sensing someone watching her, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but turn her head, meeting Gu Wan’s meaningful gaze directly.
She was slightly startled, confused: “What is it?”
“Nothing,” Gu Wan calmly averted her gaze.
Jiang Chilou: “…”
Jiang Mingyan smiled, watching their interaction. She handed a bag she was holding to Jiang Chilou: “Lulu, these are the clothes I brought for you. Go change quickly.”
“Don’t keep A-Wan waiting too long.”
“Okay.” Jiang Chilou pushed back the thin quilt, stood up holding the bag, and prepared to go to the restroom to change.
As she brushed past Gu Wan, she faintly caught the scent of agarwood surrounding her.
A pure, cool scent mixed with subtle sweetness wafted over, causing Jiang Chilou’s mind to involuntarily relax and ease.
It smells so good.
Jiang Chilou quietly inhaled a breath of the fragrance.
Only after entering the restroom did she slowly exhale.
She looked down at the clothes in the bag, which was a white dress.
Jiang Chilou didn’t delay. She casually hung the bag on the hook on the wall, then straightforwardly took off her own wrinkled clothes, took out the dress from the bag, and put it on.
After changing, she finally had the mind to look in the mirror.
She was momentarily surprised to see that the person in the mirror bore an eighty percent resemblance to her original self.
But she quickly recovered her senses.
She leaned closer to the mirror, focusing on the gauze-wrapped area on her right forehead.
She lightly pressed it with her finger; it still stung a little.
The wound was caused by the original owner rolling down the stairs and hitting the edge of a step.
It must be quite deep. Will it leave a scar?
Jiang Chilou thought about it but didn’t dwell too much.
For her, being lucky enough to live again was a blessing, especially since she was healthy everywhere else, apart from the wound on her forehead.
Even if a scar remained on her forehead, Jiang Chilou was already very content.
With that thought, she stopped looking in the mirror and turned to neatly fold the clothes she had just taken off.
A moment later.
Jiang Chilou reappeared in the sight of Jiang Mingyan and Gu Wan.
She wore a creamy-white halter-neck dress with embroidered cutouts. As she walked toward them, bathed in the bright light, the embroidery on the dress seemed to sway like blooming branches, vividly lifelike.
A strand of slightly curly black hair fell over her softly curved shoulder, subtly concealing her snow-white, creamy skin.
Jiang Chilou walked closer to Jiang Mingyan and said softly: “Mom, I’ve changed.”
Jiang Mingyan looked Jiang Chilou up and down and nodded with satisfaction: “Very nice.”
She shifted her gaze to Gu Wan and asked with a smile: “What do you think, A-Wan?”
Gu Wan smiled and nodded, offering a perfunctory compliment: “Miss Jiang looks very beautiful.”
“Thank you,” Jiang Chilou smiled, accepting the praise candidly.
She didn’t care if Gu Wan was speaking the truth or not. As long as someone complimented her, she would take it as genuine.
Besides, she was genuinely good-looking anyway.
In the hospital’s underground parking lot.
Gu Wan politely opened the passenger door for Jiang Chilou: “Miss Jiang, please.”
Jiang Chilou was momentarily surprised. She looked back at Jiang Mingyan, who was still talking on the phone not far away, and said sheepishly: “Thank you, but I want to wait for my mom first.”
Gu Wan raised an eyebrow and said nothing more, temporarily closing the car door.
“I’ll wait with you.”
Jiang Chilou glanced sideways and saw Gu Wan standing there composedly, waiting for Jiang Mingyan without any sign of impatience.
This person… on the surface, truly exudes grace and propriety everywhere.
If she hadn’t read the original novel, she might have actually believed Gu Wan was truly such a person.
The Gu Wan in the original novel was as unhinged in private as she was elegant in public, and her schemes were dark and sinister.
Although she was the mastermind behind the bankruptcy of one of the original female protagonists, she successfully survived until the grand finale, holding her own against the main characters.
Just as she was pondering, her gaze abruptly met another.
“Are you looking at me?” Gu Wan tilted her head.
She expected a denial, but to her surprise…
Jiang Chilou admitted: “Yes, I am.”
Gu Wan’s lips moved. She was about to say something, but stopped when she saw Jiang Mingyan walking over.
Jiang Chilou also turned to look at Jiang Mingyan.
Jiang Mingyan: “Lulu, I have some business at the company that I need to attend to. You and A-Wan go back first.”
Jiang Chilou replied with an “okay,” then saw her mother turn to Gu Wan.
“A-Wan, thank you for the trouble of taking Lulu home.”
Gu Wan nodded: “Aunt Jiang, don’t worry. I will take Miss Jiang home.”
“Good. Then I’ll be going now. Drive carefully on the way.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a black sedan drove up just in time. Someone got out to open the door for Jiang Mingyan.
Relying on her memory, Jiang Chilou vaguely recognized this as the Jiang family car. It seemed Jiang Mingyan had taken the family car to the hospital today, but Gu Wan’s arrival had been an unexpected element.
In the few seconds she was thinking, the sedan carrying Jiang Mingyan had sped away, leaving only Jiang Chilou and Gu Wan at the spot.
Jiang Chilou was stunned for a moment, slowly exhaling a breath of car exhaust.
After a while, she slightly shifted her gaze, turning to look at the person next to her, meeting Gu Wan’s eyes directly.
Jiang Chilou: “…”
She gave an awkward smile: “Gu Wan, thank you for driving me. Shall we go?”
Gu Wan smiled but didn’t speak.
She walked slowly to the car, gracefully lifted her slender hand, and opened the passenger door.
Then, a pair of autumn eyes lightly swept over Jiang Chilou.
“Miss Jiang, please get in the car.”
