The Crazy Villain Wants Me to Love Her - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Peace Talisman
Gu Wan stared at her hand, her eyes dark.
After a moment, her fingers slightly curled, and she slowly withdrew her hand.
She sat up, and just as she was preparing to get out of bed, a confused murmur suddenly came from behind her: “Mm~ Gu Wan…”
Gu Wan’s body paused.
She tilted her head and looked down, seeing Jiang Chilou rubbing her eyes, her voice asking indistinctly: “What time is it?”
“Just past seven.” Gu Wan’s voice was low: “You can sleep a little longer.”
Jiang Chilou rubbed her eyes for a while, feeling slightly more awake, and her vision gradually cleared.
She raised a hand to her forehead, her voice muffled and lazy: “Forget it, I won’t sleep.”
“I’ll just lie down and recover for a bit.”
She swept back the bangs that fell from the side of her forehead, tucking them behind her ear. A thin, long scar was faintly revealed.
Gu Wan noticed this, and her gaze lingered on the side of Jiang Chilou’s forehead for a moment.
Jiang Chilou noticed her stare and unconsciously touched the scar with her slightly bent index finger: “What’s wrong? Is it ugly?”
“No.” Gu Wan shook her head and asked: “What did Doctor Song say?”
“She gave me a few tubes of scar cream, saying that applying it for about a month should get rid of the scar.”
“As for now…” Jiang Chilou smiled, sounding unconcerned: “I have bangs covering it, so most people won’t see it.”
She then pressed on her forehead corner, tilted her head toward Gu Wan, and pretended to sigh: “If you think it’s ugly, then I’ll try my best not to let you see it.”
Gu Wan’s gaze swept past the fingers pressing Jiang Chilou’s forehead: “There’s no need for that.”
“I don’t mind.”
Jiang Chilou smiled at her words. She lowered her hand, her eyes curved like a crescent moon: “That’s great! I knew you weren’t that kind of person.”
Gu Wan looked at the person whose eyes were curved in a smile and was slightly taken aback.
After a moment, she retracted her gaze, threw off the blanket, and got out of bed.
“I’m getting up now.”
“Okay~” Jiang Chilou waved at her: “You go freshen up. I’ll lie here for a bit, then get up.”
Gu Wan hummed and turned to the bathroom to wash up.
After an unknown amount of time, Gu Wan, who was fully washed and dressed, walked out of the walk-in closet.
She walked towards a display cabinet, took out a sandalwood bracelet from a tin box, and slowly slipped it onto her wrist.
A moment later, she turned to look at the person on the bed, her beautiful eyes briefly glancing: “What would you like for breakfast later? I’ll ask Madam Zhou to prepare it in advance.”
Jiang Chilou looked at the impeccably dressed Gu Wan, a hint of awe flashing in her eyes.
Today, she wore a black pantsuit. A black shirt made her already fair skin appear even whiter. An unbuttoned button at the collar vaguely revealed her beautiful collarbone.
The black trousers paired with the black shirt made her figure look even taller. Her dark, long curly hair cascaded over her shoulders. When her autumn eyes were slightly raised, and her emotionless gaze fell upon a person, it inexplicably made them feel a chill.
Jiang Chilou shrugged, shaking off the unwarranted chill, then propped her head on one hand and said with a bright smile: “Gu Wan, you look really great in this outfit today.”
Gu Wan didn’t react much, only asking her plainly again: “What do you want to eat?”
“Hmm…” Jiang Chilou pondered for a moment before saying: “Nothing special I’m craving. Just ask her to blend me a cup of soy milk and fry two pan-fried eggs.”
“Okay.” Gu Wan agreed, then added: “I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
Jiang Chilou hummed twice. She flipped over, threw off the blanket, and got out of bed: “I’ll be ready and down soon.”
After 8:30 AM, Jiang Chilou watched Gu Wan leave, and couldn’t help but look at Butler Lin not far away.
She waved to the other person: “Butler Lin, come here for a moment.”
Butler Lin walked over upon hearing her, smiling slightly as she asked: “Madam, is there something you need me to do?”
Jiang Chilou waved her hand: “No.”
“I just wanted to ask you something.”
“What is it?” Butler Lin asked.
Jiang Chilou covered her mouth and whispered: “Do you know anything that Gu Wan particularly likes?”
“I want to get her a gift, but I don’t know what would be suitable, so I thought I’d ask you.” She heard that Butler Lin had been with the Gu family for many years, so she should know Gu Wan well.
Hearing this, Butler Lin paused for a moment before slowly shaking her head: “CEO Gu doesn’t have anything she particularly likes.”
“Ah,” Jiang Chilou was slightly disappointed at not receiving any useful information.
Seeing this, Butler Lin fell into contemplation. A few seconds later, she slowly said: “However, I do know some of CEO Gu’s preferences, though I don’t know if they can help you.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou suddenly perked up: “Tell me first.”
“CEO Gu likes quiet environments, prefers light-flavored food, and favors cool tones in clothing.” Butler Lin stopped there, with no intention of continuing.
Jiang Chilou, who expected Butler Lin to elaborate on Gu Wan’s preferences: ???
“That’s it?”
“No more?”
Butler Lin nodded: “No more.”
Jiang Chilou: …
“Alright.”
She fell silent for a moment, then suddenly recalled the sandalwood bracelet Gu Wan often wore on her wrist, and abruptly asked: “What about the sandalwood bracelet?”
“Doesn’t she like it? I see her wearing it often.”
Upon hearing the word “sandalwood,” Butler Lin’s expression instantly became subtle.
Seeing this, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but say: “No way? She really doesn’t like it?”
She doesn’t like it but wears it often?! That sounds strange.
After hearing Jiang Chilou’s words, Butler Lin was silent for a long time. She slowly sighed and then said: “CEO Gu indeed doesn’t wear the sandalwood bracelet because she likes it.”
“Then why does she wear it?” Jiang Chilou didn’t understand.
Hearing Jiang Chilou ask for the reason, Butler Lin’s expression was slightly hesitant, seemingly debating whether she should tell.
She looked at Jiang Chilou, and considering that Jiang Chilou was married to Gu Wan, she felt that even if she didn’t say anything, Jiang Chilou would eventually find out.
Moreover, this matter was not a secret within the Gu family.
After thinking it over, Butler Lin slowly began to speak: “Actually, CEO Gu was present the day her parents had their accident.”
“CEO Gu was sickly when she was young. Madam and Sir took her to many doctors, but she didn’t get better. Then one day, Madam heard that the peace talismans from a temple in Jiang City were very effective, so she wanted to take CEO Gu there. Sir didn’t trust them to go alone, so he went along.”
“At the time, Sir was driving, and CEO Gu and Madam were sitting in the back. Everything was fine, but no one expected that shortly after the car got on the highway, a car suddenly swerved from the rear right and drove straight towards them. Sir tried to swerve to avoid it, but the brakes suddenly failed, causing the car to lose control. Then, the car violently flipped off the highway bridge.”
“Later, when the rescue team arrived, only CEO Gu survived out of the three, because… Madam protected her with her life.”
“After that incident, CEO Gu fell gravely ill, and she was always unable to sleep at night. Her temperament also became increasingly gloomy and cold. Later, Old Madam Gu found Doctor Song. After Doctor Song treated CEO Gu for a very long time, CEO Gu slowly improved.”
“And the sandalwood bracelet that CEO Gu often wears is a habit formed during that period of treatment.” They still don’t know how Doctor Song treated CEO Gu, only that since then, CEO Gu’s naturally mild temperament became increasingly aloof and indifferent, sometimes even chillingly frightening.
After recounting the full story behind Gu Wan wearing the sandalwood bracelet, Butler Lin let out a long sigh: “That’s roughly what happened.”
“Although I don’t know why CEO Gu insists on wearing the sandalwood bracelet, one thing is certain: CEO Gu definitely doesn’t wear it because she likes it.”
After hearing Butler Lin’s words, Jiang Chilou’s mood sank: “What about the perpetrator?”
“CEO Gu had him sent to prison.” However, before that person was incarcerated, CEO Gu personally severed one of their arms, then had saltwater poured into the wound and repeatedly ground into it. Only when the person wished they were dead did she have them sent to prison under the guise of the accident perpetrator, along with instructions for them to be ‘well taken care of.’
And at that time, CEO Gu was only in her teens.
“That’s good, then.” At least the evil received its due retribution, Jiang Chilou thought.
However, she realized that the accident was premeditated and couldn’t help but ask one more question: “Was the perpetrator also a member of the Gu family?”
Butler Lin nodded, her expression not looking good: “Yes.”
Seeing this, Jiang Chilou didn’t pursue that line of questioning further, turning instead to the temple Butler Lin had mentioned earlier: “Which is that very effective temple?”
“Jingxin Temple.”
Jiang Chilou blinked her eyes: “Is it really that effective?”
“I heard it’s very effective, but whether it’s genuinely effective or just talk is unclear.”
“Alright.” Jiang Chilou rubbed her chin. After a while, she smiled: “Butler Lin, thank you for telling me so much.”
“I’m done. You can go back to your duties.”
“Yes, Madam.” Butler Lin replied and then turned and left the spot.
It was only after she was out of Jiang Chilou’s sight that she took out her phone and typed a few lines to send to Gu Wan.
Jiang Chilou was completely unaware of Butler Lin’s small action.
She leaned on the sofa and searched online for information about Jingxin Temple. Seeing many people say that the peace talismans there were very effective, an idea sprouted in her mind.
Maybe I should get a peace talisman for Gu Wan.
However, besides that, she still needed to prepare another gift, especially since she had personally told Gu Wan yesterday that the gift was customized.
Jiang Chilou pressed her lips together. The image of Gu Wan’s beautiful collarbone suddenly came to mind.
She thought she knew what to give Gu Wan now…
The next morning.
Not long after Gu Wan left, Jiang Chilou also picked up her bag and car keys, preparing to leave.
Just as she reached the door, she saw Butler Lin walking towards her, asking with a smile: “Madam, why are you leaving so early today?”
Jiang Chilou smiled: “I’m going to check on the coffee shop.”
Butler Lin’s eyes flickered: “Didn’t you schedule the visit for the afternoon?”
“I originally scheduled the designer for the afternoon, but I have a few other things to do later, so I need to go over first.” Jiang Chilou feared that if she mentioned going to Jingxin Temple in Jiang City for a peace talisman, Butler Lin might try to stop her, so she simply told a white lie.
“I see.”
“Are you going alone? Should I assign a driver for you?” Butler Lin asked.
“No need. It’s not far anyway. I’ll just drive myself.”
Hearing this, Butler Lin said no more, only: “Very well, please be safe on the road.”
“Mm-hmm.” Jiang Chilou agreed quickly and left swiftly.
Butler Lin watched her retreating back and couldn’t help but sigh softly.
On the other side, Gu Wan had just arrived at the company when she received a new message from Butler Lin.
She looked at the message, her eyes slightly darkened.
Perhaps she should install a tracker on Jiang Chilou’s phone.
