Chapter 2: We’re Married! Shall We Sleep Together?
Inside the car.
Jiang Chilou sat quietly in the passenger seat, extremely close to Gu Wan.
She could also smell the lingering agarwood scent on Gu Wan more clearly.
She glanced at Gu Wan, secretly observing her cool, composed profile, and quickly realized that Gu Wan had no intention of talking to her, seemingly focused entirely on driving.
Excellent, she likes this.
This way, she didn’t have to endure awkward small talk and could enjoy the peace.
Jiang Chilou withdrew her side glance, leaned her head back against the seat, and started scrolling on her phone out of boredom.
However, after scrolling for only a short while, she couldn’t help but close her eyes and put the phone down.
Jiang Chilou pinched her forehead, realizing that her old motion sickness tendency had followed her into this body.
Her motion sickness wasn’t severe; usually, she only felt sick when playing on her phone in the car. If she didn’t use her phone, she was fine.
Gu Wan looked at the red light ahead and vaguely caught Jiang Chilou’s gesture of rubbing her forehead, prompting her to ask: “Are you feeling unwell?”
Jiang Chilou opened her eyes, turned her head to look at Gu Wan, and met a pair of black eyes.
“Uh…”
She paused for a few seconds, then, rubbing her forehead, she quietly said: “It might be because I hit my head earlier, so I’m a bit carsick now.”
Gu Wan looked at her, and seeing that she genuinely looked unwell, politely asked: “Should I open the window for some air?”
“No need.” Jiang Chilou shook her head.
“I feel much better if I just don’t use my phone.”
It was so hot outside that opening the window would only let in hot air. Compared to that, she might as well enjoy the air conditioning and take a quick nap.
Most importantly, her carsickness wasn’t severe, and there were no unpleasant odors in Gu Wan’s car; only the sweet, cool fragrance that lingered, making one feel comfortable just by smelling it.
“Mm.” Gu Wan withdrew her gaze and restarted the car as soon as the light turned green.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a magnificent, castle-like mansion.
Jiang Chilou looked out and couldn’t help but secretly gasp. The Jiang family is truly wealthy. Who knows how much this castle-like mansion cost?
She was internally shocked, but didn’t show it at all. In just a few seconds, she composed her emotions, and even turned to smile at Gu Wan: “Gu Wan, thank you for bringing me back.”
As Jiang Chilou spoke, she reached for the car door handle: “I’ll go in first. Drive safely on your way back.”
Gu Wan glanced at her small actions, a slight curve appearing on her lips.
“Wait a minute.”
When Jiang Chilou turned back, Gu Wan smiled and slowly unbuckled her own seatbelt: “I’m coming in with you.”
“Together?”
Jiang Chilou’s hand, resting on the door handle, froze for a moment.
No way. The reason she wanted to slip away first was because she was afraid Gu Wan might return to the Jiang family with her. It wasn’t that she disliked Gu Wan, but because she had just transmigrated and temporarily hoped that the fewer people she had to deal with, the better.
The hesitation in her expression was too obvious, allowing Gu Wan to easily guess Jiang Chilou’s meaning with just a glance.
She probably doesn’t want to go in with me.
Gu Wan maintained her smile, her words gentle yet allowing no refusal: “Since I’ve come all the way to the Jiang family, of course, I should go in and pay respects to Old Madam Jiang. Besides, the Old Madam should be waiting for us.”
Jiang Chilou: …Fine.
She twitched her lips: “Then let’s go in together.”
The two pushed open their respective doors and got out. A servant who had been waiting nearby took the car keys from Gu Wan and drove the car away to the garage.
Meanwhile, the Jiang family’s butler walked out of the hall and respectfully said: “Young Miss, Miss Gu, the Old Madam is waiting for you in the tea room.”
Jiang Chilou nodded: “Got it. Gu Wan and I will head over now.”
After speaking, she couldn’t help but glance at Gu Wan.
It looks like these people knew Gu Wan was coming all along. I was hoping to avoid people, but it seems that’s impossible now.
In the tea room, where the fragrance of tea permeated the air.
Jiang Chilou and Gu Wan sat opposite the Old Madam, with a cup of tea placed in front of each person.
Gu Wan took a sip of the tea, then put down the cup, offering a slight smile to the Old Madam: “Thank you for the hospitality, Old Madam.”
Old Madam Jiang also smiled: “Child, why are you so polite?”
“I haven’t even thanked you for sending so many wonderful things to this old woman this morning, let alone you personally escorting Lulu back now.”
After saying this, the Old Madam looked at the smiling Gu Wan and sighed: “You truly have a good heart.”
Gu Wan gently shook her head: “The company was too busy the last two days, and I couldn’t spare the time to visit Miss Jiang. I already felt guilty, so now that I’m free, I should naturally come to pick her up and escort her back myself.”
Hearing this, Old Madam Jiang smiled even more happily, though she said: “You and Lulu are getting married soon. Why do you still treat her like a stranger and call her Miss Jiang?”
“You should switch to a more intimate form of address.”
Gu Wan paused slightly, then suddenly turned to ask Jiang Chilou: “Should I call you Lulu from now on too?”
Jiang Chilou internally chuckled, but smiled outwardly: “Whatever works.”
Watching Jiang Chilou’s reaction, Gu Wan smiled faintly: “Lulu.”
“Hmm.” Jiang Chilou politely responded.
The two were outwardly harmonious but secretly detached.
The Old Madam, observing from the side, was completely unaware and even smiled so widely her eyes narrowed into slits.
“A-Wan, stay here for lunch before you leave. Later, when Lulu’s mother returns, we can discuss your and Lulu’s wedding arrangements for the day after tomorrow.”
Gu Wan naturally accepted: “Very well.”
Jiang Chilou: …Great. Now, when Madam Jiang returns, Gu Wan might have to stay until the afternoon to leave, and she might even end up having dinner at the Jiang family’s house tonight.
And she, as one of the protagonists of the wedding, would undoubtedly have to stay with her.
I’m exhausted. She had originally planned to go straight back to her room to lie down and properly process the sudden transmigration.
The situation later unfolded exactly as Jiang Chilou had predicted. As soon as Madam Jiang returned, she pulled many people from the Jiang family together with Gu Wan to discuss the wedding two days later. She even specifically arranged for the original owner’s two cousins to personally attend to her on the wedding day.
When the topic of transferring a few people from the Jiang family to the couple’s villa as maids came up, Jiang Chilou politely refused, afraid that someone might notice she wasn’t the original owner.
It wasn’t until dusk that Madam Jiang dismissed everyone and arranged for Jiang Chilou to see Gu Wan out.
Jiang Chilou: …I can only follow the arrangement.
After watching Gu Wan get into the car, she finally let out an involuntary sigh of relief.
This day is finally over.
Gu Wan rolled down the car window and squinted at the visibly relieved Jiang Chilou. She gently tapped the steering wheel a few times: “Was staying with me today very tiring?”
“No, not at all.” Jiang Chilou blinked and smiled: “How could that be!”
Gu Wan: “Oh?”
Seeing that Gu Wan didn’t believe her, Jiang Chilou blinked her sincere large eyes and said semi-truthfully: “Although I am a little tired today, it’s just because I was just discharged from the hospital, and my energy hasn’t fully recovered. It’s definitely not because I spent too much time with you.”
“Please don’t overthink it.”
After today, she knew that her marriage to Gu Wan was set in stone. She didn’t want to sour their relationship at this point.
To ensure a comfortable life of slacking off after marriage, she had to maintain a harmonious marital relationship, as long as it didn’t compromise her own interests.
Gu Wan let out a soft laugh, watching Jiang Chilou’s rapidly blinking eyes.
“It was a busy day. Go back and rest early.”
Jiang Chilou nodded repeatedly: “You too.”
“Bye-bye~”
“Goodbye.” Gu Wan rolled up the window, slowly separating herself from the waving Jiang Chilou.
The moment the car window fully closed, the smile on Gu Wan’s lips vanished instantly. Her expression was cold, and she drove away from the Jiang house without looking back.
September 20th. Auspicious for marriage.
Jiang Chilou and Gu Wan’s wedding arrived as scheduled. It was incredibly extravagant, every detail radiating luxury.
After the banquet, Jiang Chilou followed Gu Wan back to the villa they owned.
This villa would be their shared residence in the future.
In the spacious master bedroom, Jiang Chilou was utterly exhausted. The moment she entered, she flopped weakly onto the recliner chair, looking like a fish on the verge of death, completely drained of energy.
In contrast, Gu Wan, despite the long day, still maintained her composure.
She unhurriedly removed the gold hairpin holding her hair up. Her dark hair cascaded down in a smooth, beautiful curve.
She turned, her gaze slightly directed toward the person nearby: “I’ll use the bathroom first.”
“It might take a while. If you don’t want to wait, you can use the bathroom on the third floor first.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou’s eyes followed Gu Wan, and upon noticing her graceful figure, she couldn’t help but narrow her eyes.
Her slender waist was barely a handful, and her fair legs were subtly visible beneath her robe.
Jiang Chilou’s fingertips unconsciously twitched.
“Actually~” Her voice drew out slightly: “I don’t mind washing together with you.”
Gu Wan’s footsteps paused. She turned back and lightly glanced at the speaker: “The bathroom isn’t big. It’s inconvenient for two people to be in there together.”
Hearing the other person’s calm voice, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but silently roll her eyes.
She had seen it when they came up; that bathroom was huge. The space inside was almost as large as their master bedroom.
Gu Wan clearly just minded washing with her.
However, she was only briefly tempted anyway.
“Then forget it. I’ll go wash upstairs later.”
Gu Wan said nothing more, turned, and left.
Jiang Chilou didn’t lie down for too long. A few minutes later, she got up to unpack her luggage.
But then…
She stared at the few tragically small, sexy “nightgowns” in her suitcase and fell silent.
She picked up a white one and looked at it. Good heavens, this thin piece of fabric is practically indistinguishable from wearing nothing. And the large cutouts were placed very strategically.
Jiang Chilou internally: This design is amazing!
Recalling what Jiang Mingyan had told her before they returned, she vaguely knew who had slipped these “nightgowns” into her bag.
Clever, truly clever!
Jiang Chilou briefly admired the other “nightgowns,” then immediately pushed them all to the bottom of the suitcase without a word.
These items were pretty, but completely impractical to wear. So, they would just have to be unfairly confined to the bottom of the suitcase.
Jiang Chilou rummaged through her luggage, did some simple tidying, took out her clean undergarments, a makeup removal kit, and some skincare products, and then leisurely headed to the upstairs bathroom.
In the bathroom, Jiang Chilou looked at herself in the mirror and slightly lifted the curtain bangs covering her forehead. The gauze taped there was fully exposed.
Jiang Chilou observed it for a while, noting that the gauze was covered with a layer of clear medical tape, sealed tightly. If she was careful while showering, the gauze wouldn’t get wet.
With that thought, Jiang Chilou used a fluffy headband to secure her hair and began to meticulously remove her makeup and wash her face.
An hour later.
When Jiang Chilou finished her shower and returned to the master bedroom with her hair quickly drying, Gu Wan was applying skincare.
She watched, then walked over and sat on the other stool nearby.
“Gu Wan.”
“What is it?” Gu Wan glanced at her.
Jiang Chilou lifted her chin, pointing toward the large bed next to them: “Shall we sleep together?”
“Or separately?”
Gu Wan smiled, her beautiful eyes half-lowered: “Lulu, you jest. We are married now. Why would we sleep in separate rooms?”
Jiang Chilou: “So, we are sleeping together then?”
