The Crazy Villain Wants Me to Love Her - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: Late Night.
Gu Wan’s expression solidified. She stared intently at the audaciously spoken person, momentarily speechless.
After a long while, a faint ripple spread in the depths of her dark pupils: “Make love with you?”
Her tone was slow, as if confirming the other person’s words.
Jiang Chilou nodded her head, smiling brightly: “Yes.”
She was completely frank: “Since we are married, isn’t this kind of thing something that has to happen sooner or later?”
“Or… are you planning to abstain for life?” Jiang Chilou’s tone was probing, her eyes fixed on Gu Wan without blinking.
If Gu Wan truly planned to abstain for life, that would be too ascetic.
Although she hadn’t given it much thought before, recently, the mere thought made her feel like she didn’t want to live too ascetically.
Gu Wan remained silent.
She didn’t answer Jiang Chilou’s question, only smiled faintly and said softly: “Your period just ended. Now is not appropriate.”
Jiang Chilou blinked and smiled: “Then, in a few days?”
The essence water in her palm slowly smoothed onto her collarbone. Gu Wan’s eyelashes slightly lowered: “We’ll see in a few days.”
Jiang Chilou paused, then let out a long sigh: “Alright.”
It seems Gu Wan doesn’t want to.
If she doesn’t want to, then so be it.
She slowly withdrew her wrist from the dressing table. Jiang Chilou moved her body back, stood up, and said: “I’m going to bed first.”
Gu Wan glanced at her. Seeing her look natural, completely without the awkwardness of being rejected, she quietly replied: “Okay.”
Jiang Chilou got into bed. Seeing that Gu Wan would take some time to finish getting ready, and since the time wasn’t too late, she leaned against the bed and started playing on her phone.
She opened her recently used novel application. As soon as she entered the homepage, she saw an ‘Completed Recommendation’ entry: “An Old-School Xuanhuan Cultivation Novel”, with a summary below the title: “Female protagonist has no romantic pairing, old-school Xuanhuan power-leveling satisfying read.”
Seeing this, Jiang Chilou immediately clicked into it excitedly, and… became completely engrossed.
She only snapped back to reality when she heard Gu Wan’s voice nearby, and she looked towards the source of the sound: “What is it?”
Gu Wan: “I’m going to turn off the light now.”
Jiang Chilou: “Oh, oh, you can turn it off.”
With that, she lay down and adjusted the reading interface to night mode. The brightly lit phone screen instantly dimmed.
Gu Wan watched her action and paused her movement to turn off the light: “You’re not sleeping?”
Jiang Chilou held her phone, answering without raising her eyes: “I’ll sleep in a bit. You turn off the light first.”
She wanted to finish the secret realm plot in the novel before sleeping.
It must be said, the plot of this book was truly captivating, worthy of being called a ‘great satisfying read’.
Gu Wan paused, and the hand resting on the switch finally pressed down slowly.
With a soft “click,” the room instantly plunged into darkness, leaving only the faint glow from Jiang Chilou’s phone screen.
Lying on the bed, Gu Wan gently closed her eyes and slowly asked: “Do you want me to turn on a small night light for you?”
Jiang Chilou let out an “Ah,” and whispered: “No need.”
After replying, she couldn’t help but ask, glancing toward Gu Wan: “Will I disturb your sleep like this?”
Gu Wan’s tone was even, betraying no emotion: “No.”
“That’s good.” Jiang Chilou relaxed.
She rolled over, turning the back of her phone towards Gu Wan, so the weak light from the screen shone entirely toward herself.
“Gu Wan, you should sleep now.”
“Good night, good night.” Jiang Chilou’s tone was quick, even laced with a hint of urgency.
Gu Wan’s mind settled slightly, and she slowly replied: “Good night.”
She turned her side to face away from Jiang Chilou, placing her arm over her eyes.
She didn’t know how much time passed, but Jiang Chilou, who had been engrossed in the novel, grew increasingly sleepy. She yawned continuously, and a few tears, caused by extreme drowsiness, welled up at the corners of her eyes.
Jiang Chilou gently wiped away the involuntary tears, slowly put down her phone.
So sleepy, can’t finish it. I’ll read it tomorrow.
With that thought, she slowly lay flat, and as soon as her eyes closed, she quickly fell asleep, even forgetting to put her phone back on the nightstand.
Sensing the increasingly even breathing beside her, Gu Wan slowly opened her eyes.
She rolled over, staring at the sleeping person in the darkness for a while. She then picked up her own phone, lit up the screen, and used the weak light to illuminate that side.
She saw Jiang Chilou sleeping soundly, and also saw the phone by her pillow.
Gu Wan lowered her eyes, slowly reached out to pick up the phone by the pillow, while simultaneously turning off her own phone screen, and then lit up the other person’s phone.
Looking at the cartoon wallpaper on the lock screen, Gu Wan paused. She suddenly realized that she did not know Jiang Chilou’s lock screen password.
Gu Wan’s thumb lightly pressed on the screen. Seeing the circle displayed below the lock screen, she instinctively turned her head to look in Jiang Chilou’s direction.
Fingerprint…
She stared at the other person’s hand for a moment. Just as she was about to move closer, Jiang Chilou suddenly rolled over.
Gu Wan froze. After a moment, she slowly put the other person’s phone back in its original spot.
The next morning.
Jiang Chilou was happily reading the novel she hadn’t finished last night while drinking the red date and milk tea Madam Zhou had specially made for her.
Consequently, she didn’t notice the person opposite her staring intently, their dark eyes profound.
Gu Wan finished her coffee, raised her eyes, and glanced at the person who only greeted her today before lowering her head to play on her phone. Her lips curved slightly, showing a faint arc.
She briefly glanced at the phone in Jiang Chilou’s hand, then fixed her gaze on the other person’s rosy face, her tone ambiguous: “Are you very busy recently?”
“Huh?” Hearing such a sudden, out-of-the-blue question, Jiang Chilou instinctively looked at Gu Wan.
“What is it?”
Gu Wan smiled faintly, repeating with great patience: “Are you very busy recently?”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou shook her head: “No, I’m not busy.”
She had nothing to do recently and was quite idle.
Since the designers she had hired were still creating the floor plans and 3D renderings for the coffee shop’s renovation, she didn’t need to worry about the coffee shop for now, and her days were extremely comfortable.
She had spent this time playing games, reading novels, or watching TV.
Gu Wan should know all this, so why is she asking?
Thinking this, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but ask: “Why did you suddenly ask that?”
Gu Wan’s gaze shifted slightly, sweeping over the phone in her hand: “I saw you were constantly looking at your phone while eating breakfast, so I thought you were busy, and just asked.”
Jiang Chilou paused, then suddenly chuckled: “I’m reading a novel.”
Gu Wan: “Is that so?”
“Were you also reading a novel before you went to sleep last night?”
“Yes,” Jiang Chilou answered with a smile, her eyes curved.
Gu Wan: “Oh.”
As she spoke, a faint smile suddenly appeared on Gu Wan’s lips. Her eyes deepened, and her fingers under the table suddenly clenched.
This Jiang Chilou…
One moment she suggests sleeping with her, and the next she’s lost in a novel, forgetting everything else.
She truly knows how to pick up and put down things.
Seeing that Gu Wan only said “Oh” and didn’t speak anymore, Jiang Chilou blinked and proactively brought up another matter: “It’s Saturday today. Do you want to go out and have some fun?”
To be honest, in all the time she had been here, aside from a few times going out for errands, she had never gone out just for fun.
Gu Wan glanced at the person speaking, and instead of answering, she asked in return: “Do you want to go out and have fun?”
Jiang Chilou: “Mm, not exactly fun, I just want to go out and walk around.”
“Do you want to come along?”
Gu Wan lowered her eyes. Recalling the information she received last night, she looked at Jiang Chilou, her voice low: “It’s not impossible, but…”
“I have a dinner appointment at noon.”
Jiang Chilou: “What kind of dinner appointment?”
Gu Wan: “Gu Shuyao invited me to have lunch at Huating Pavilion. Do you want to go?”
Gu Shuyao? Jiang Chilou remembered. This person had previously tried to get Gu Wan to invest in her company. Now… Gu Wan agreeing to have lunch with her was probably to discuss the investment.
But…
“You’ll probably be discussing business, right? That kind of setting…”
“Is it appropriate for me to go?” Jiang Chilou asked with a grin.
Gu Wan: “There’s nothing inappropriate about it.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou thought for a moment and suddenly asked: “Is the food there good?”
If it’s not good, she won’t go.
Gu Wan was taken aback.
She looked at Jiang Chilou’s face, which was curious yet serious, and suddenly let out a soft chuckle.
“It’s delicious.”
“Huating Pavilion is one of the best restaurants in Ning City.”
“Then I’ll go with you,” Jiang Chilou said happily. “What time are we leaving?”
“Eleven o’clock.”
Jiang Chilou checked the time. It was nine o’clock now, meaning they only had two hours before they had to leave.
Speaking of which, she got up late today, but she didn’t expect Gu Wan to get up late as well.
Jiang Chilou hadn’t thought about it carefully earlier, preoccupied with her novel, but now that it came to mind, she looked at Gu Wan: “Why did you get up so late today too?”
Gu Wan’s tone was flat: “Didn’t sleep well last night.”
