The Crazy Villain Wants Me to Love Her - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: Calico Cat.
Gu Wan’s movements were gentle. Her usual cool tone was replaced by softness, her voice light and low, and her cool thumb slowly brushed Jiang Chilou’s face.
It looked like comforting someone.
Or rather, it looked more like coaxing someone.
Jiang Chilou was stunned. Before she could react, the contact was brief.
If it weren’t for the lingering cool touch on her face, Jiang Chilou might have thought she was hallucinating.
She pursed her lips: “You…”
Gu Wan’s fingertips lightly clenched, slowly interrupting her words: “You go rest first.”
“But…” Jiang Chilou had just uttered two words when the rest of her sentence slowly returned to her throat under Gu Wan’s gaze.
She looked down at the slightly messy tabletop due to the recent incident, her eyes pausing on the little cat wood carving stained with a touch of red.
Jiang Chilou’s lips slightly pursed. Although she didn’t speak, her meaning was clear.
She hadn’t finished yet.
Although she was normally a bit lazy, she was always serious about wood carving.
Gu Wan followed her gaze downward, her voice slightly cold: “Do you not want your hand anymore?”
Jiang Chilou heard the displeasure in Gu Wan’s tone and awkwardly looked up: “No.”
Gu Wan stared at her: “Then go rest.”
Jiang Chilou lowered her head: “Got it.”
Seeing the person opposite bow her head, Gu Wan’s expression softened, and she unconsciously eased her voice: “Wait until your hand is better to work on it.”
“As for these few days… just rest well.”
Listening to Gu Wan’s words, Jiang Chilou glanced at her already bandaged index finger and obediently replied: “Got it.”
“I’ll go rest after I tidy up the table.” With that, she raised her hand to tidy the table, but her wrist was instantly held.
Jiang Chilou looked up at the person holding her.
Gu Wan moved Jiang Chilou’s hand away: “You don’t need to tidy it.”
“I’ll do it.”
Jiang Chilou was slightly startled. A moment later, she said: “Thank you.”
The sound of raindrops began to pound against the floor-to-ceiling window outside. Dark clouds covered the sun, and the previously clear sky slowly darkened.
Jiang Chilou turned her head to look at the darkening sky outside. Her gaze shifted to the figure tidying the tabletop reflected on the window. Her lips unconsciously curved up slightly, and her previously gloomy mood inexplicably improved.
Being cared for doesn’t seem bad.
She raised her hand to touch the raindrops splattering on the window from across the glass. Her fingertip gradually moved towards the reflection of the person on the window. Just as she was about to touch the figure, she slowly moved her finger to the side, settling on the traces of rain on the window.
“It’s raining.”
Gu Wan heard the sound, looked up at the window, and seeing the heavy rain outside, quietly hummed: “Mm.”
She tidied up the table, then picked up the medical box on the table, and slowly said to Jiang Chilou: “Let’s go. Go out and rest for a while.”
“Okay.” Jiang Chilou agreed and quickly got up from the stool.
She followed behind Gu Wan. Midway, remembering the topic of painting, she couldn’t help but quickly run two steps to stand in front of Gu Wan, her face smiling: “Were you serious when you said you wanted to paint the little cat?”
Gu Wan raised her eyes: “Jiang Chilou, I never joke.”
Hearing the seriousness in Gu Wan’s tone, Jiang Chilou smiled: “Got it.”
“Next time you say anything, I definitely won’t ask any more questions. I will resolutely believe you.”
As she said this, the smile on her face grew even brighter: “What color little cat do you want?”
Gu Wan glanced at the person whose redness around the eyes had gradually dissipated, and her tone was calm: “Any color is fine. You can mix and match as you like.”
Jiang Chilou smiled upon hearing this: “In that case, I’ll mix and match freely then. Don’t complain later that it doesn’t look good.”
Gu Wan hummed: “I won’t.”
As her voice fell, the quiet environment was suddenly broken by several cell phone notification sounds.
Gu Wan lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on Jiang Chilou.
“Someone is looking for you,” she stated plainly.
“Let me check.” Jiang Chilou lowered her head to flip through her phone. After a moment, she looked up and smiled: “The renovation designs for the coffee shop are out.”
“Speaking of which, it’s quite a coincidence. These two companies sent the designs almost one after the other.”
“I deliberately spaced out their appointments to visit the shop by several days.”
Gu Wan said calmly: “They might have inquired about each other’s schedules, which is why they sent you the plans at about the same time, to prevent you from choosing the one who sent the design first.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but laugh: “What you said sounds quite logical.”
Gu Wan glanced at her phone and slowly opened her lips: “Do you need my help to look at them?”
Jiang Chilou thought for a moment and agreed: “Sure.”
“Wait a moment. I’ll go get my laptop. It’s easier to view them on a computer.”
Gu Wan’s lips slowly curved up: “Why go to so much trouble?”
“We can just go straight to the study.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou nodded: “That works too.”
She looked at the medical box in Gu Wan’s hand: “Then let’s put the medical box away and go up.”
“Okay,” Gu Wan replied.
Third-floor study.
Jiang Chilou logged into her WeChat on Gu Wan’s computer and opened both design files one by one. After looking for a while, she felt both had their own merits, making it difficult to choose. She couldn’t help but turn to ask Gu Wan beside her: “Which one do you think is better?”
Gu Wan moved the mouse, enlarging one company’s design plans and renderings: “This company’s design plans and renderings are better. The coffee shop’s divisions are clear, which seems more suitable for your Tarot coffee shop needs…”
Her voice was unhurried. As the mouse moved, her body increasingly leaned toward Jiang Chilou.
As their distance closed, Jiang Chilou faintly caught the cool, sandalwood scent on Gu Wan.
It was refreshing, yet it also seemed to carry a hint of sweetness.
She was slightly distracted.
Until a cool voice reached her ear: “What do you think?”
Jiang Chilou was pulled back to her senses by the question. She focused her eyes on the computer screen in front of her, looking at the enlarged rendering Gu Wan had displayed, and lightly nodded: “Mm, I also think this one is more suitable.”
“However, I feel like some parts could be modified. Look here…”
After an unknown amount of time, there was a gentle knock on the study door. Butler Lin’s voice came through the door: “CEO Gu, Madam, dinner is ready downstairs.”
“Got it,” Gu Wan replied calmly. She said to Jiang Chilou: “Let’s go. Let’s go down to eat first.”
Jiang Chilou hummed twice, just about to log out of WeChat on the computer when she suddenly heard Gu Wan say: “You don’t have to log out. Aren’t you going to use the computer tomorrow?”
“And I’m working tomorrow. I won’t be using the computer tonight, so you can just stay logged in.”
Jiang Chilou paused, but finally smiled: “Never mind. I’ll just log in again tomorrow.”
“Leaving WeChat logged in overnight on a computer feels a bit insecure.” With that, Jiang Chilou decisively used the mouse to log out of her WeChat.
Gu Wan watched her action, her fingertips subtly twisting: “You’re at home, why would you feel insecure?”
“Hmm…” Jiang Chilou pondered for a moment: “It’s hard to explain. I guess I’m just not used to it.”
Gu Wan lowered her eyes and gave a small smile: “I see.”
“Yep.” Jiang Chilou stood up and tugged at Gu Wan: “Let’s go. Time to eat.”
Four days later, Friday morning.
Jiang Chilou rotated the freshly made calico cat charm in her hand, smiling brightly at the person getting ready to leave: “Gu Wan, give me your regular car key for a moment.”
“I’ll help you attach it.” She said, holding the calico cat charm up to Gu Wan’s eyes and wiggling it.
“Isn’t it pretty?”
“It’s a calico cat.”
Gu Wan lowered her gaze, looking at the cat face on the charm that was half black and half orange, her eyes slowly moving to the orange and black back and the white belly.
“It’s very pretty.” Very lifelike.
Jiang Chilou held out her hand: “Give me the car key. I’ll help you attach it.”
Gu Wan handed over her car key as requested.
Jiang Chilou took it with a smile, and in a few seconds, she had strung the calico cat charm onto the car key.
She handed it to Gu Wan: “All done. Here you go.”
Gu Wan slowly rubbed the charm in her hand for a moment. The feel was smooth, without any rough edges.
She smiled: “Thank you.”
Jiang Chilou waved her hand: “You’re welcome. You should go to work now. Bye-bye.”
Gu Wan hummed: “See you tonight.”
Gu Group Headquarters.
Gu Wan casually placed the car key into the storage box on her desk.
Secretary Li had followed Gu Wan as she came up, preparing to report on the investment in Yuanxi Media. Seeing the charm, which was distinctly different from Gu Wan’s style, she couldn’t help but be curious: “CEO Gu, when did you start buying charms like this?”
In her memory, their CEO Gu was completely incompatible with such cute things.
Did the sun rise in the west today?
Gu Wan glanced calmly at the speaker: “I didn’t buy it.”
“My wife made it.”
