The Crazy Villain Wants Me to Love Her - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: Curious.
“Gentle?” Gu Wan let out a soft chuckle.
Her eyes were lowered. Her hand, full of icy coolness, covered Jiang Chilou’s hand. Her thumb pad slid into the other’s palm, tracing along the delicate fingertips. Then, she gently flipped and slowly grasped Jiang Chilou’s hand, turning the palm upwards. The cool water instantly flowed freely over their clasped hands.
Gu Wan slightly raised her eyes, her gaze landing on Jiang Chilou’s face: “What if I told you I’m not that kind of person?”
Jiang Chilou tilted her head, her lips curving: “Then tell me, what kind of person are you?”
Gu Wan didn’t answer. She simply released Jiang Chilou’s hand.
“Wash your hands.”
Jiang Chilou overlapped her hands and slowly washed away the soap residue.
A moment later, she casually pulled a tissue to dry her wet hands. Then, her gaze shifted slightly, and she suddenly looked at Gu Wan, smiling: “No matter what kind of person you are, you are my wife.”
“So, the answer to the question of what kind of person you are is not important.” She had only brought up the topic because she noticed the difference between the Gu Wan in the book and the one she saw, and Gu Wan happened to ask what she was thinking.
She wasn’t demanding an answer.
Gu Wan’s eyes focused: “Is that so?”
Jiang Chilou smiled: “It is.”
She discarded the tissue and reached out to pull Gu Wan: “Alright, let’s go.”
The slightly cool hand rested on her wrist. Gu Wan lowered her gaze but didn’t pull away.
Walking out of the bookstore, Jiang Chilou saw a restaurant across the street and turned to Gu Wan: “Do you want to eat something across the street before going back?”
Gu Wan glanced at the restaurant across the street and suggested: “How about Huiting Pavilion?”
Jiang Chilou blinked: “Is it close from here?”
Gu Wan: “It’s alright.”
“It takes about twenty minutes to get there.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou checked the time and found it was still early. She smiled: “Then let’s go to Huiting Pavilion. The food there is delicious.”
She hadn’t tried the restaurant across the street. Although it was closer, compared to Huiting Pavilion, Jiang Chilou preferred to go there.
At Huiting Pavilion.
As Jiang Chilou and Gu Wan were about to head to their usual private room, she vaguely felt a gaze on her. She turned based on instinct but only saw a strange woman.
Their eyes met, and the woman quickly lowered her head.
Jiang Chilou frowned.
She stared at the woman, vaguely seeing that she seemed to be talking to someone opposite her. Unfortunately, due to the angle, Jiang Chilou couldn’t see the person across from the woman.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Wan’s voice came from beside her.
Jiang Chilou turned back, thought for a moment, and quietly said: “Nothing. I just felt like someone was looking at me, but when I looked over, it was a stranger.”
“It’s probably just a coincidence.”
Gu Wan’s eyes slightly paused: “Where is that person?”
Jiang Chilou turned her head, pointing to the stranger’s location: “There.”
“The one in the light green dress. Do you know her?”
Gu Wan glanced in that direction and shook her head: “No.”
“I’ll have someone look into it later.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but say: “Forget it. No need for the trouble.”
“It really must be a coincidence.” As soon as she heard Gu Wan didn’t know the person, Jiang Chilou instantly dismissed the matter and changed the subject: “Let’s go. We’ll go to the private room first.”
Gu Wan softly hummed in agreement with Jiang Chilou’s suggestion to go to the private room.
As for that person, Gu Wan glanced at Jiang Chilou from the corner of her eye, her gaze lowered. She would have someone investigate.
In the private room, Jiang Chilou ordered two signature dishes they hadn’t tried last time and a drink, then asked Gu Wan: “What do you want to eat?”
Gu Wan looked at the dishes Jiang Chilou ordered and the menu, her fingertip resting on a dish name: “How about ‘Dragon Soaring Four Seas’?”
Jiang Chilou looked at the dish Gu Wan pointed to: “That looks good too.”
“Then let’s just order these.”
Gu Wan hummed, handing the ordered menu to the waiter beside them: “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Please wait a moment.” The waiter took the menu and quickly turned to leave.
Jiang Chilou looked at the water pot on the table and poured herself a glass of water, pouring one for Gu Wan as well.
After she finished her glass of water and saw that the water in Gu Wan’s cup hadn’t been touched, she couldn’t help but ask: “Aren’t you thirsty?”
They had been queuing and doing other things since they arrived at the bookstore this morning, with little time to drink water. Hence, Jiang Chilou couldn’t help but drink a glass immediately upon seeing water.
“Not very thirsty.” Gu Wan said, but still reached for the cup and took a sip of water.
“Alright.” Hearing Gu Wan say she wasn’t thirsty, Jiang Chilou didn’t say anything more, only pouring herself glass after glass of water.
Not long after downing three glasses of water, her thirst was quenched, but her lower abdomen felt a little bloated.
Jiang Chilou rubbed her lower abdomen and looked at Gu Wan: “I need to go to the restroom.”
When they were at the bookstore’s restroom, they only focused on washing their hands. Since she hadn’t drunk much water that morning, she hadn’t needed to go then…
Gu Wan looked at her: “Do you want me to go with you?”
Jiang Chilou shook her head: “No need.”
“I’ll be right back.”
Gu Wan nodded: “Okay.”
After using the restroom and washing her hands, Jiang Chilou was about to turn and leave when her gaze caught a glimpse of someone standing by the door.
It was the woman she had briefly made eye contact with earlier.
She was slightly stunned but didn’t speak, walking straight toward the door.
To her surprise, just as she reached the doorway, the woman spoke.
“So you’re Gu Wan’s wife?”
Hearing Gu Wan’s name, Jiang Chilou paused.
She turned back to the woman: “Who are you?”
The other party was nonchalant: “Who I am is not important.”
“I wasn’t looking for you specifically. It’s just a coincidence that we keep running into each other.”
Jiang Chilou: “Then why did you call me over?”
The woman chuckled: “I’m just curious how you manage to get along so harmoniously with Gu Wan.”
Jiang Chilou frowned: “If you only called me over to say these inexplicable things, then I’m sorry, but I’m leaving.”
“Wait.” Seeing Jiang Chilou about to leave, Qi Yunxuan called out to stop her.
She also moved to stand in front of Jiang Chilou.
“I just wanted to remind you to be careful of Gu Wan.”
“After all, Gu Wan is someone who can ruthlessly deal with the Gu family members, including the elders. What’s a newlywed wife to her?”
Hearing this, Jiang Chilou’s heart stirred: “What do you know?”
Seeing Jiang Chilou’s interest, Qi Yunxuan’s mouth curved: “Gu Wan…”
On the other side, Gu Wan glanced at the time on her phone: 1:05 PM. Jiang Chilou had been out for five minutes and hadn’t returned yet.
She slightly lowered her eyes. After contemplating for a moment, she got up and left the private room.
At the corner near the restroom, as soon as Gu Wan arrived, she faintly overheard a sentence: “Gu Wan once sent her second uncle to a psychiatric hospital under false pretenses, and personally sent a group of Gu family members to prison. And a few others… became vegetative and have been lying in the hospital.”
Hearing this, Gu Wan’s beautiful eyes instantly darkened. Her inky black pupils shifted, staring sinisterly at the light green skirt corner.
The only people who knew these things were the Gu, Qi, and Qi families. Was she from the Qi or the Qi family? (Note: Both “Qi” have the same sound, different characters. She is referring to the family of the person who had been talking).
No matter which family, they seemed to be too idle.
Gu Wan’s eyes were gloomy.
At the same time, Jiang Chilou raised an eyebrow after hearing Qi Yunxuan’s words: “That’s all?”
Qi Yunxuan was stunned by her question and instinctively said: “Isn’t that enough?”
Jiang Chilou smiled: “I don’t know what happened with those vegetative people and the one in the psychiatric hospital, but I believe the ones who went to prison are definitely not innocent.”
“Because they might have human lives on their hands.”
“And…” Jiang Chilou looked at the person in front of her and slowly said: “Gu Wan is my wife.”
“Isn’t it inappropriate for you to speak ill of my wife in front of me?”
Hearing this, Gu Wan paused slightly.
Qi Yunxuan was also taken aback: “I just wanted to remind you to be careful of Gu Wan.”
Jiang Chilou: “Alright.”
“Then I know now. Thank you for the reminder. You can leave.”
Qi Yunxuan saw her indifferent reaction and felt a lump in her throat. Jiang Chilou’s reaction was completely different from what she had imagined.
Normally, shouldn’t she be scared right now? Why is she defending Gu Wan instead?
“Aren’t you afraid?”
Jiang Chilou smiled upon hearing this: “Why should I be afraid?”
“I haven’t done anything to let her down, so what is there to be afraid of?”
“Besides, she is my wife. Even if I were afraid of anyone, I wouldn’t be afraid of her. You should give up on your attempts to sow discord.”
Jiang Chilou actually didn’t care about Gu Wan’s true nature, because their current relationship was harmonious. Even if Gu Wan was crazy, as long as that craziness wasn’t directed at her, she couldn’t be bothered with all the gossip.
Seeing that Jiang Chilou was completely unfazed by what she had just said and was even defending Gu Wan, Qi Yunxuan ground her teeth in frustration. Why did Gu Wan, who had harmed so many people and caused the Qi and Qi families to fall, still have people defending her?
Qi Yunxuan felt utterly enraged.
She bit her lip, just about to say something more, when she suddenly heard a voice.
“Lulu?”
Hearing Gu Wan’s voice approaching, Qi Yunxuan paused and quickly turned to leave.
It was not yet time for her to confront Gu Wan directly. She would avoid it if possible.
Qi Yunxuan walked away quickly. Jiang Chilou didn’t stop her, only looking at the person walking toward her and quietly asking: “Why did you come out?”
Gu Wan: “I saw you hadn’t returned for too long, so I came out to check.”
With that, she looked in the direction Qi Yunxuan had left, a dark glint flashing across her eyes. She asked knowingly: “Did something happen?”
“Oh,” Jiang Chilou paused, then said softly: “Nothing.”
“Just chatted for a few sentences.”
Afterward, she gave Gu Wan a faint smile: “Let’s go back to the private room and eat. I’m hungry.”
Seeing that although Jiang Chilou hadn’t fully disclosed the conversation, she showed no fear or suspicion towards her, Gu Wan smiled faintly: “Okay.”
At night.
Gu Wan looked at Jiang Chilou, who was already fast asleep beside her. Her gaze couldn’t help but drift from the red mark between her collarbones upwards, finally settling on her beautiful, clear face.
Remembering the events of the day, her eyes lowered. Her index finger pad slowly pressed against the other person’s soft lips.
With a gentle press, her index finger instantly sank into a moist, yielding territory.
Gu Wan’s eyes deepened. She was truly curious if this mouth could always speak such pleasant words.
