The Crybaby Alpha is Actually Really Cool - Chapter 27
Cheng Shu lowered his head and took a bite of food. When he looked up again, he saw Ruan Qingyao in tears, his small face puffed out. It was obvious he was quite angry.
“Qingyao, what’s wrong?”
“Wuwuwu, Cheng Cheng, look,” Ruan Qingyao showed his optical computer to Cheng Shu. “They are targeting me. I’m the only one they selected who isn’t a Beta.”
Cheng Shu finished reading. He thought that it was totally something those people would do—barbaric and rude. However, Qingyao joining logistics and going to the Imperial Capital with the representative team didn’t conflict with the next two months of training at all. Unless the League was not a smokescreen, and the guy surnamed Mu really wanted to send Qingyao onto the competitive stage.
He shouldn’t be that crazy, should he? For some reason, a trace of unease lingered in Cheng Shu’s heart.
“Don’t be angry or anxious. Let’s go and ask what happened first,” Cheng Shu soothed.
Ruan Qingyao nodded, “Mhm, mhm.”
“Huh?” Wen Yuchen asked in confusion, still not having reacted to what had happened.
Seeing Ruan Qingyao and Cheng Shu stand up, Xu Lingguang also stood up. “Whatever it is, this young master will reluctantly join you.”
Hehe, I’m earlier than that dog-thing Wen this time. What exactly happened wasn’t important.
Wen Yuchen clenched his fist in frustration.
The group of six furiously rushed towards the general affairs office.
The front desk on the first floor was empty. No one was on duty.
“Grass, they must be feeling guilty!” Wen Yuchen cursed angrily. A huge black footprint appeared on the white wall panel.
The next second, a fierce argument was heard. “What you are doing is wrong! There is no basis for it!”
“You are violating the orders of your superiors!”
…
The two were repeatedly arguing back and forth with these two sentences, neither convincing the other.
“That’s the voice of the person who was on duty yesterday.” Ruan Qingyao was sensitive to voices. Although the voices arguing now were sharp, shrill, and slightly cracking, he immediately recognized them.
“Let’s go and see,” Cheng Shu said.
In a small room under the stairs on the first floor, Ye Wei, the Beta who had been on duty at the front desk these past few days, was arguing with his immediate superior, Foreman Sun. The reason was that Ye Wei found out that the fault had been put on him—that it was his work error—in the explanation given to Ruan Qingyao after he screened him out.
Ye Wei swore to the heavens that all his actions were in accordance with the law and regulations. He would never let them slander him out of nowhere!
Foreman Sun knew Ye Wei was stubborn, but he didn’t expect him to be this stubborn. Who among working people doesn’t take the fall for their boss once in a while? A career without taking the fall is incomplete!
Moreover, this was not a fall thrown by him onto Ye Wei. Why should he suffer this ordeal here?
Oh, it’s for his own boss. Never mind.
If he had the authority to fire people, he would definitely kick out this obstinate Ye Wei!
When Foreman Sun saw Ruan Qingyao and the others, he felt as if he had seen a god descending from the heavens to rescue him from hot water. “Looking for Little Ye? You guys talk, you guys talk.”
With that, he tried to slip away.
Then, he was grasped by the neck of fate by Ye Wei.
Ye Wei said: “I know you are also confused. The notice was sent by him. I was just trying to reason with him. You should join in too.”
Foreman Sun was startled. This person is actually Ruan Qingyao?
He was dragged out of the small room and saw the four menacing Alphas behind Ruan Qingyao. His legs instantly went weak.
Under Foreman Sun’s enthusiastic explanation, Ruan Qingyao finally understood one thing: someone was truly targeting him.
Well, it’s not much different from before.
Looking at the young man’s wronged and lost expression, Foreman Sun couldn’t bear it and comforted him: “Little Ruan, I’ll say a couple more words. The military tower is even more realistic than the outside world. Unless you can find someone with a higher and more formidable rank than the one targeting you, you can only be led by the nose. But right now, you don’t even know who that person is. Don’t struggle.”
Although Ruan Qingyao’s small face showed anger and grievance, it notably lacked the sense of injustice that sheltered young masters and ladies should have when seeing the ugly side of the world.
The surface of affluent families might be like splendid flowers, but secretly, it was a muddy swamp, foul-smelling and man-eating. How could Ruan Qingyao not know this?
When encountering such a situation, the natural response is, of course, to cry and complain to Mummy and Daddy.
Wen Yuchen and the others were enraged. “Trash! Doesn’t he know the silent motto: Do not bully a young man in poverty?! When this grandpa rises, I will definitely crush him. Tell him to wait for me. See if I don’t get rid of him!”
Foreman Sun trembled, on the verge of tears: “I, I don’t know who to tell to wait.”
Wen Yuchen extended his iron fist, and Foreman Sun could only comply with tears in his eyes, sending a message to his superior.
Suddenly receiving a message that said: “Thirty years on the east side of the river, thirty years on the west side of the river. Do not bully a young man in poverty. Wait for me,” the superior was greatly surprised. Is Little Sun rebelling?
He immediately called Foreman Sun, ordering him to stand by the gate in the sun for punishment and reflection.
Immediately after, he noticed that the progress bar on the right side of the message was very, very long. He scrolled and scrolled and scrolled, and saw a matchstick man groveling, as well as: “ps: Please forward this to your superior.”
Would I be kicked in the head by a donkey to forward this to my superior? Isn’t that asking to be scolded?
Just as he was about to exit, he didn’t know why his optical computer executed the forward function.
He looked at his hand and the name of the recipient, instantly swaying unsteadily.
Five minutes later, Foreman Sun saw his superior walk beside him. He was about to kneel down and explain, but saw his superior with downcast eyes, acting entirely like a little wife.
Looking up again, good heavens, the big boss was watching through the window.
My superior is really brave. He actually dared to forward it.
Little Sun felt a sense of inadequacy.
Before long, Little Sun had a dozen or so companions.
The final message reached Mu Yang, who exclaimed that it was fascinating.
After crying and complaining to his parents and receiving a guarantee that he would definitely return to the Imperial Capital during the League, Ruan Qingyao cheered up again.
All roads lead to Rome. The result is what matters most~
At 8:00 AM, ten seed teams, totaling sixty people, gathered in front of the military tower’s main gate. Mu Conghu, Mu Yang’s head secretary, temporarily served as their special training commander-in-chief.
Mu Conghu said: “You will all be spending the next two months in the military tower, undergoing special training led by me and dozens of other military officers. I hope no one drops out halfway. Alright, follow me.”
Ruan Qingyao was still waiting for him to continue explaining. What does it mean that the entire two months will be spent in the military tower? Are we not allowed to go out? How will food, clothing, housing, and necessities be handled?
Cheng Shu tugged at Ruan Qingyao, who was still bewildered. The two followed the group.
Ruan Qingyao whispered: “It won’t be non-stop training for two months, right?”
Cheng Shu let out a soft laugh: “How is that possible? Even mules aren’t exploited like that. The military tower has living quarters.”
How many floors the military tower had was still a mystery. New recruits did not have the qualification to enter the tower alone. Two-year to four-year soldiers could enter the first three floors. Only after completing five years in the military tower were they eligible to apply to go higher.
But today, Mu Conghu led them to enter the fourth floor!
The mysterious fourth floor.
The view suddenly darkened, then brightened after ten seconds. Ruan Qingyao looked left, looked right, and looked up. A vast, boundless desert and a high, distant blue sky with white clouds—it didn’t look like an indoor environment at all.
Mu Conghu introduced: “This is the first training scenario for everyone, Black Riot Desert. The training duration is one week. Today, we’ll start with a baseline test to understand everyone’s level.”
“You see the black flag ten thousand meters away? Retrieve it and hand it to me. The number of flags and the time taken will determine your treatment for this week.”
Following Mu Conghu’s finger, the area was a densely packed black mass. It was estimated that there were about a thousand flags.
“Any means necessary. You have sixty seconds of preparation time.”
Ruan Qingyao looked at the flags and then at the people from the other teams around him. Clearly, they were the competitors. But the words “Black Riot” in the scenario name made him particularly mindful. A black sandstorm could suddenly kick up along the way.
“Let’s not split up,” Ruan Qingyao said.
Cheng Shu nodded: “Watch out for sneak attacks.”
Sixty seconds passed in the blink of an eye. Most people rushed forward, vying for the lead, but one team leisurely lagged behind, seemingly preparing to let others grab the flags first before resorting to foul play.
Ruan Qingyao’s group of six was swept up in the crowd and quickly witnessed the difference between veteran and new recruits.
Hey, hey, what do you think you’re doing taking out spiritual tools?
Why are weapons meant for fighting Zerg being pointed at comrades?!
Ruan Qingyao instinctively dodged the incoming projectile. A lock of hair in front of his forehead was still clipped. He heartbrokenly gathered the “corpses” of his little red, little green, and little blue hairs and shed a tear to mourn them.
Wuwuwu, harming one’s hair is like harming one’s parents. It’s truly too wicked.
Because of Cheng Shu’s earlier warning and Ruan Qingyao’s quick reaction, he dodged the projectile. Wen Yuchen and Xu Lingguang hadn’t taken Cheng Shu’s words seriously enough, and their reaction speed wasn’t super fast, resulting in a large scrape of skin being taken off. However, Xiong Yan and You Xiaoxi were obedient and remained unscathed.
As for the other new recruit team, all their members were hit in the thigh, with only one Alpha sustaining merely a minor graze.
Just one veteran deploying a few projectiles caused such injuries to the new recruits. The gap was evident.
The irritable Wen Yuchen immediately started cursing the person who played dirty tricks: “Trash! What kind of skill is sneak attacking? You’re just a cowardly rat in the gutter…”
The person, however, showed a look of disdain and contempt: “I really don’t know why they selected you people to come in. Wasting resources?”
His companions laughed, “Hahahaha, isn’t it for us to watch a joke? Look at their helpless state of incompetent rage.”
The sense of humiliation was overwhelming, and yet, their strength was truly inferior.
Wen Yuchen gritted his teeth: “Grass.”
Ruan Qingyao said: “Don’t let him affect your mentality. Getting the flags is the main priority now. Yuchen, Lingguang, apply the medicine first.”
Wen Yuchen refused. He wanted to keep the pain as a warning!
Xu Lingguang certainly couldn’t be outdone by Wen Yuchen. As they rushed towards the flags, the two started comparing who bled more and whose wound area was larger, as if being injured was glorious.
Ruan Qingyao had no competitive spirit in such matters, but the number of flags concerned the quality of their treatment for the next week. The delicate young master wanted the best treatment.
Alright, Ruan Qingyao thought, I am still angry. Sneak attack + mockery. Even a saint would get angry. He wanted to take all the flags and infuriate those who looked down on new recruits. His box could become super big and remotely collect items. Taking all the flags was not impossible.
Ruan Qingyao shared his idea with everyone and received unanimous agreement.
“Hahahaha, if all the flags are in our hands and they have none, just imagining that scene is exciting.”
