- Chapter 13 - The Bizarre Campus: My heart is missing Can you help me find
The final answer was still
“N-O.”
The answer to three questions in a row was the same, which made them a little suspicious.
Fu You didn’t have any questions to ask, so Wu Ledan nodded at them and asked the last question:
“Spirit, spirit, can I get a boyfriend who’s at least 5’11” before next month? 5’11” is fine… never mind, not a handsome guy is fine… never mind, just a guy who’s taller than me is fine…”
The girls looked at the pencil, thinking the answer would probably be the same as the others.
“I knew it…”
Wu Ledan was about to complain when she saw that the pencil, which had been resting on the letters N and O, didn’t return to the starting point. Instead, it moved on its own and wrote a character on the paper.
The gray-black marks on the paper formed a character. The three of them leaned in and saw that it was the character for “death.”
“This… this…”
Suo Xianglu’s voice trembled, and her body trembled with it. Her fear spread from her heart outwards.
Fu You, who had been quiet, frowned. She looked up and said slowly, “No wonder the answers were all ‘no.’ It’s planning to kill us all here.”
If they were going to die, what was the point of talking about the future, let alone finding a 5’11” boyfriend?
The pencil’s speed got faster and faster. The large “death” character on the paper was covered with a thick layer of graphite. The previously sharpened pencil tip was now completely flat, so flat that it couldn’t even leave a mark.
The three of them quickly let go of the pencil. The pencil didn’t fall. Instead, it stood upright on the paper, writing the word “death” over and over again at an increasing speed.
At the same time, the music from the radio began to get progressively more bizarre. At first, Fu You could still make out the tune and even the rhythm, but now, she couldn’t understand it at all.
The music was chaotic. The pitch would suddenly go up and then rapidly go down, hurried and disorderly. Suddenly, the entire classroom was filled with the sound of the music.
The white candle was instantly extinguished, and the chaotic music also stopped.
The classroom was now pitch black.
The three of them huddled together, stood up, and went to the classroom door, trying to open it. Fear and terror slowly crept up Suo Xianglu and Wu Ledan’s bodies. The two of them suddenly started sobbing, their tears flowing uncontrollably.
Because they were so scared, they didn’t dare to cry out loud. They could only keep their sobs low so that only the three of them could hear.
But to them, this crying sound seemed even more terrifying in this quiet, occasionally eerie classroom.
“What do we do? What do we do? I’ve never even been in a relationship. I don’t want to die, wuwuwuwu…”
“It’s all your fault for making me come here to play this game. Now what? Our lives are going to be buried here!”
Wu Ledan was a little angry when she heard this. “How can you say that? Fu You and I were just trying to help you. Besides, you were the one who suggested it. How is it our fault now?”
Whoosh… whoosh… whoosh…
Fu You hadn’t said anything. She looked at the two of them, who were about to start a big fight. She thought, Just fight. Maybe someone will come and save them if they keep fighting.
Suddenly, an extremely faint sound of a woman blowing air came from not too far away. From their feet to their heads, they could clearly feel their hair being blown.
Suo Xianglu and Wu Ledan instantly lowered their voices.
Wu Ledan’s voice was tearful and very low. She kept urging Fu You, who was trying to open the door, “Fu You, can you hurry up…”
Fu You didn’t say anything. It was already difficult to open a door that was locked from the outside in this completely dark environment. It was almost impossible. She was a little flustered, too, but the more flustered she was, the calmer she had to be.
She had done things like this with her friends before, but since she was in this place, she wasn’t so sure.
Fu You took the hairpin from her head. She slowly fumbled with the black bobby pin, trying to find the keyhole. Then, she put the hairpin into the keyhole and tried to unlock it, fiddling with it constantly.
The spirit didn’t seem to be in a hurry at all. She was like a cat, and there were three mice in the classroom. She wasn’t going to catch them. She was just watching them quietly, occasionally giving them a little scare, slowly breaking down their defenses.
“Is it open? Is it open, Fu You? Why is it taking so long to open a door? I feel like she’s coming!”
Suo Xianglu was sticking close to Fu You. She was so scared that she was drenched in sweat. Even her school uniform was soaked. Fu You could clearly feel the stickiness of her sweat on her own body.
It was like walking down the street with your lover in 100-degree weather, holding hands and having your sweaty arms rub against each other. She couldn’t even imagine how sticky that would be.

A very small mechanical sound was heard. Fu You twisted the handle of the locked classroom door, and the door finally opened.
A faint light shone in. Fu You was just about to lift her leg and step out of the classroom, but before she could, a body was forcefully shoved against her from behind, throwing her to the side. She almost fell to the ground.
Thankfully, she grabbed a desk. The leg of the desk made a screeching sound as it scraped against the floor.
She looked up and saw that Wu Ledan had rushed out of the classroom first, followed by Suo Xianglu.
Fu You clapped her hands and rubbed her waist, which had hit the corner of the desk. A lot of memories of her current identity instantly appeared in her mind. She knew that these two people were her good friends and best friends.
But she could see that it was all a facade.
From the way the two of them grabbed her and threw her aside, and how they ran faster than anyone else, it was easy to see how fake their friendship was.
They said they were best friends who had grown up together, but when something really happened, they ran faster than anyone else.
However, with the dim light from outside, she thought she saw something on Suo Xianglu’s body. She wasn’t sure if she had misread it. But in that one glance, she felt that something was a little different.
Fu You suddenly remembered something. She reached out and touched her left arm and the side of her waist. These were the spots that Suo Xianglu had been clinging to. Her hand was suddenly covered in a sticky liquid.
She took her hand away and put it to the tip of her nose to smell it.
A strong, bloody smell filled her nostrils. She quickly wiped the substance off on the wall next to her.
Her feet froze. She stood still, not daring to move. She could feel a hand gripping her ankle. She didn’t dare to look down or take a step forward. She just stood there in a daze, holding her breath.
Then, she heard a voice from below her feet:
“Fu You… save me…”
“My heart is missing. Can you help me find it?…”
When Fu You heard this, she took out a dagger from her pocket. Ah Lin had given it to her to use for self-defense. Now, it came in handy.
She bent down, aimed for her ankle, and without hesitation, she swung it down.
The only other time she had used the dagger was to stab Wei Shengjun Yu in the heart, but that was something she regretted. Using the dagger for this second time didn’t feel useless.
Even though she was truly terrified.
“Ah!—”
The dagger smoothly cut off Suo Xianglu’s hand. Suo Xianglu let out a sharp scream. Fu You kicked her hard and quickly left the creepy classroom.
The hallway lights flickered constantly. The moonlight from outside was only faintly bright and cold. The trees were still. There was no wind. Some branches gently rested on the windows, blocking the already dim moonlight.
The shadows of the branches were cast on the hallway floor from time to time by the moonlight.
Fu You thought that if the person in the classroom was Suo Xianglu, then the one who ran out behind Wu Ledan must have been the spirit in disguise.
She locked Suo Xianglu’s body in the classroom. She bent down and threw the bloody hand out. Fu You didn’t care about the handprint on her ankle. She followed her memory and ran toward the exit.
Her footsteps were exceptionally loud and jarring in the silent hallway.
The abandoned classroom was on the fifth floor of Chongde Hall. There was no elevator, only stairs. Fu You walked down the stairs. The sound-activated lights above her would light up as she walked forward and quietly turn off after she left.
The spiral staircase seemed endless.
Fu You didn’t know which floor she was on. She just felt that she was running out of energy. She stopped and gasped for air. Logically, with two long flights of stairs per floor, she should have reached the first floor a long time ago.
Step, step, step
She had clearly stopped, but the sound of footsteps going down the stairs still existed. And it wasn’t coming from below her, but from above her.
Fu You bravely guessed that the spirit was upstairs, and she couldn’t escape.
Because the spirit was trapped by some strange force and couldn’t escape, she had encountered this rare “ghost wall.”
At least, she had never encountered one before.
She reached into her pocket, took out the dagger again, and held it tightly. She also felt a small card in her pocket with a small drawing on it.
Upon closer inspection, the drawing looked a little familiar.
It was the monster with big eyes but no eyeballs and a wide-open mouth. What was this for? She didn’t even know she had this thing.
She tried to call the system in her mind, but she couldn’t. She gave up. Whatever. She was sure it would be useful.
The sound of footsteps suddenly got closer. Fu You felt that it was only two or three steps away from her.
Then, she felt a chill on her back. Even though it was summer, her breath was like winter.
“Student, my heart is missing. Have you seen it?…”
