- Chapter 23 - The Bizarre Campus: The Pink and Purple Female Ghost
“Fu You, you didn’t see me?”
Fu You stopped in her tracks when she heard him. She was in a hurry to find the girl who often went to the library with Fang Yaoyao, so she had walked right past them, but Yu Shang had grabbed her arm.
“Is there something you need?”
Fu You turned to look at him.
“You!—”
Ke Na, who was standing on the side, nudged Yu Shang’s arm and then interrupted him. He smiled at Fu You and said, “Fu You, we heard that you agreed to let that junior pursue you. We were just curious. We wanted to ask if you really like that junior?”
Fu You reached out and pulled Yu Shang’s hand off her arm. She had less than a day, and she was only hoping that Fang Yaoyao’s parents would arrive later. So she didn’t have time to waste on these people.
“So what? Does it matter to you whether I like him or not? If you don’t have anything important to say, I’m going to go.”
“No!”
Yu Shang reached out again, trying to grab Fu You, but she easily dodged him.
Did he really think she was stupid? Did he think the same trick would work a second time? She wasn’t someone that anyone could just grab. “No, I don’t believe it! I don’t believe it! What’s so good about that pretty boy? Fu You, are you doing this to make me mad? I’m telling you, you’ve succeeded. You’ve really made me mad. I’m jealous, Fu You! I’m telling you now, I, Yu Shang, like you very much! Is that good enough for you?”
Oh my god. This confession was so self-centered. The series of nonsensical words made Fu You laugh.
Just then, the nurse from the infirmary happened to come back. Fu You saw the opportunity and walked up to block the nurse. She smiled and said, “Miss, this person seems to have a mental issue. Can you please give him some medicine for his brain?”
After she said that, she turned to leave. She then suddenly remembered something and turned back to look at Yu Shang. Yu Shang was smiling at her, and she said, “Being a narcissist is a disease. It needs to be cured!”
“Fu You, what did you say?! Stop right there! Come back! What do you mean, I’m a narcissist? Explain yourself!”
Aike Kanglie was also a little frustrated by his actions. He reached out and patted Yu Shang’s back, glanced at Ke Na, and the two of them shook their heads and left.
Only Yu Shang was left there, fuming, and couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong.
“What a psycho!”
On her way back to the dorm, Fu You couldn’t help but complain. In her memory, these people were all arrogant playboys. They were really boring.
They had the title of campus heartthrob but did some nasty things and always bullied those weak little kids. If she were to date someone like that, she would definitely end up getting herself killed one day.
When she got back to the dorm, she thought for a long time but still couldn’t remember the name of the girl who went to the library with Fang Yaoyao. She had only met her a few times, but she really wasn’t familiar with the person next to her.
She only remembered that Fang Yaoyao seemed to call her “Xiaoyue.”
Was she in the dorm next door? Fu You wasn’t sure. She was in 305, and the closest dorms were 302, 303, 304, and 306.
So, she just decided to go to 304 first. If she didn’t find her, she would go to the other dorms and knock on every door to ask if a person like that lived there.
She was a person of action.
She stood outside the door of 304 for a while. She finally mustered up the courage to knock on the dorm room door. As soon as she raised her hand and gently tapped on the door, it opened with a “creak.”
She was confused. She didn’t use much force, so why did the door open by itself?
She was just thinking if the wind had blown it open, but the next second, she felt a damp wind hit her calves. There was a strong, musty smell in the room.
Fu You raised her hand and pinched her nose. She felt that her nose was being assaulted. She then fanned away the invisible smell in front of her and gently opened the door.
A pink and purple figure flashed by. Fu You rubbed her eyes, worried that she had seen things.
The next second, all she could see was pink and purple.
Could it be the pink and purple female ghost?
Fu You subconsciously put her hand in her pocket. She tightly held the small dagger in her palm. Her fingers touched the small card in her pocket, and she instantly felt much calmer.
What’s more, she also had the red rope.
As she walked in step by step, Fu You found that the dorm was very empty. Besides two bunk beds, a cabinet, and a desk, there was nothing else, and there was no sign of anyone living there.
It had probably been a long time since anyone had lived there. The dorm was filled with a lot of dust, which caused her to leave faint footprints on the ground as she walked in.
So, there was no “Xiaoyue” here. But she also remembered that Fang Yaoyao had moved from the dorm next door. This meant that besides her own dorm, 305, the dorms next door were all empty.
So, either Fang Yaoyao was lying, or the female ghost living in this room was Fang Yaoyao’s study buddy.
Fu You walked forward with determination, carefully looking around to see if she could find any useful clues.
Plop.
A pen rolled off the desk next to Fu You, rolled to her feet, and lightly touched the side of her shoe.
Fu You looked down, squatted, and picked it up. The pen was very clean and smooth. It didn’t have any dust on it and looked out of place in this long-abandoned dorm.
If it hadn’t been here for a long time, then someone must have left it here. Could it have been Fang Yaoyao?
Then, why did it roll to the ground by itself?
Fu You subconsciously looked at the desktop. There was nothing on it. She squatted down and felt the ground with her hand. She got a handful of dust and nothing else.
Then, she looked under the bed. She leaned down on the ground and looked under the bed.
Two pairs of eyes met.
It was a head with half of its face covered by long hair. The hair was a little dry, and the head showed signs of shriveling.
The hair covered half of her face. The other half was exposed and had been drained of all moisture. Her eyes were extremely empty. There were no eyeballs in her eye sockets. Only a little bl00d was still dripping out.
The smell must have come from here. Besides the bloodstains, there were also some white maggots wiggling in the empty eye sockets, dropping one by one along with the bl00d.
The person’s mouth was wide open, showing a terrified expression as if she had been scared speechless.
Fu You’s pupils tightened. Wasn’t this the pink and purple female ghost?
The most important feature was that only one of their eyes was exposed. Furthermore, the other eye was smashed.
So, the pink and purple female ghost lived in 304, and she was very likely the girl who went to the library with Fang Yaoyao.
“Hello? Excuse me, are you Xiaoyue?”
Fu You stood up straight and spoke to the room. She was a little panicked, but then she thought, she was just standing here. If the other person wanted to hurt her, they could have done it already.
But she was perfectly fine right now, so she could try to talk to her. If the other person could communicate with her, wouldn’t she be in luck!
So she tentatively made a sound. When the other person didn’t respond, she said again, “Hello?”
Giggle…
A suffocating female voice came from under the bed.
Fu You was startled. As she watched the head roll out from under the bed, even though she had mentally prepared herself, when the head rolled out and stopped at her feet just like the pen did…
Her heart still stopped for a second.
The head stopped at Fu You’s feet. It used its only good eye to stare intently at Fu You. Fu You lowered her head to meet its gaze, swallowed, and said to her,
“Umm, hello, Xiaoyue. My name is Xiaoyou. I’m Yaoyao’s roommate. I think we met in the hallway at noon, didn’t we?”
Xiaoyue’s eyeball rotated, and her lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but she couldn’t. Every time she moved her lips, other things kept coming out of her mouth.
Fu You saw that she seemed to be in a lot of pain, so she took out a packet of tissues from her pocket, pulled a few out, and helped Xiaoyue wipe away the dirty things that were coming out of her mouth.
As she wiped, she said, “I’m sorry about earlier. It was very rude of me to lock you outside the dorm. But I have to explain. My only roommate, Yaoyao, is sick, and I’m very worried about her, so… anyway, I’m sorry.”
The tissues were completely soaked. She threw them aside and took out new ones to wipe her. “I’ve heard about you before. Yaoyao always talks about you and says that you two are best friends and great partners. You help each other. I also see that you spend a lot of time together. You’re practically stuck at the hip.”
Fu You paused, putting on a sad expression, and continued, “But do you know? Yaoyao is sick now. She’s unconscious in the infirmary. The nurse there can’t figure out what’s wrong with her. She’s even going to have her parents take her away and said she’s going to…”
At this point, a tear fell from Fu You’s eye. She didn’t say what she was going to do. She just paused, wanting to see the expression on the head in front of her change.
Sure enough, Xiaoyue’s cheeks twitched slightly. Even though they were shriveled, her expression still showed a hint of nervousness and concern. She tried to open her mouth to speak, but no matter how hard she tried, she could only make a “giggling” sound and couldn’t say anything else.
Torrential tears of bl00d flowed from her eye sockets, washing out the remaining bl00d and the bloodstained maggots.
