- Chapter 33 - The Bizarre Campus: Fu Lu's True Form
A short while later, Fu You returned with her food tray. As expected, they were sitting at the same table, with a huge gap between them.
Fu You sat down in the middle. Just as she picked up her chopsticks, Ren Jiejie leaned in with a gossip-hungry look. “Goddess, guess what? It seems something else happened last night.”
It was clear that Ren Jiejie was an avid fan of gossip and was very enthusiastic about sharing it with her. Fu You figured it wouldn’t hurt to listen, so she replied, “What happened?”
She asked, but in her mind, she was wondering if someone had witnessed what happened at Taiji Lake last night and spread the news.
“I’m telling you, Aike Kanglie is dead.” When she mentioned his name, Ren Jiejie couldn’t help but show a hint of sadness. “Sigh, what a shame. Aike Kanglie was known for being a real gentleman. It’s a pity for him to die at such a young age…”
Fu You felt that something was off. She quickly asked, “How did he die?”
Ren Jiejie ate her food and shrugged. “The same way as your two former lackeys. His heart was gouged out in that abandoned classroom. The first person to find him was from the student council. They said they heard Aike Kanglie’s cry for help downstairs, and when they rushed up, they saw Aike Kanglie with a huge hole in his chest, dead in a pool of bl00d.”
“What was Aike Kanglie doing in the Chongde Building?”
In her memory, Aike Kanglie wasn’t very brave. He was a little braver than Ke Na, but he was very afraid of anything related to ghosts and the supernatural. He would tremble and not dare to move a single step in a haunted house.
For some reason, she felt that this matter was suspicious. After all, based on his personality, he would never willingly go near places where supernatural events frequently occurred. He could gossip about them, but he definitely wouldn’t go near them.
Ren Jiejie shook her head. “I don’t know. They didn’t say. Oh, you can ask Yu Shang and Ke Na. They should know. After all, they’re always stuck together like gum.” She looked around but didn’t see Yu Shang and Ke Na. “They haven’t even come for breakfast yet. If you’re curious, ask them when you see them later.”
Fu You didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she turned to look at Fu Lu, and they exchanged a look. A moment later, Yu Shang, Ke Na, and the two lackeys came in.
The cafeteria was crowded at that time. All the counters had long lines. Yu Shang walked to the front with a very rude attitude and pushed a student who was choosing his food. “Get out of the way!”
Luckily, the tray didn’t have any food on it yet, so it was no big deal that it spilled. The student, seeing the aggressive person in front of him, could only stand to the side and wait for them to finish.
Yu Shang’s menacing glare scared the food service auntie. Ke Na didn’t agree with this behavior, but he couldn’t do anything about it now. He was already tied to Yu Shang because of Aike Kanglie’s death.
The students behind them all took a few steps back. Some even helped them get their trays and put them at the counter. They had no choice but to endure it. They could eat later. If they offended this big shot, their family businesses would probably go under.
The food service auntie looked at the bullied student who didn’t say a word. Although she knew some of the rules of this school, she felt that this had escalated to bullying. Since she had seen it, she had to do something about it.
“Hey, you boys, you’re so big. Why are you cutting in line? Is this what your teachers taught you?”
“ugh !”
Yu Shang slammed his hand on the counter in front of him and looked at the food service auntie with a ferocious expression. “Do you know who I am? I’m the student council president, the young master of the Yu Corporation. I can be wherever I want, and I can do whatever I want. You’re just a lowly employee. Mind your own business!”
The lackey behind him also chimed in, “Exactly! Auntie, be careful. You might lose your job for offending our young master. Say one more thing, and you might lose your life!”
The auntie held her ladle and tried to reason with them. “Your parents sent you to school to learn, not to bully people…”
Before she could finish, Yu Shang grabbed the handle of the ladle and dragged the auntie’s arm out. “Auntie, you look unfamiliar. Are you new here?”
“So what if I’m new? Can’t a new person have a sense of justice?”
Upon hearing that, Yu Shang found it hilarious. What sense of justice was she talking about in this school? Even the principal had to give him some face. And this auntie was talking about a sense of justice here.
The rules of this school were simple: the strong prey on the weak. If you’re capable, you can rely on your parents and your family. Pray that you were born into a good family. The children whose parents went bankrupt to send them to this school only thought about justice, but their parents sent them here to climb the social ladder.
There weren’t that many kids who genuinely loved to study. It was just a mutual exchange of benefits.
“Stop it!”
Fu You stood behind Yu Shang and said. Seeing that Fu You had arrived, Ke Na quickly stepped aside, distancing himself from the matter.
He had promised Fu You that he would stop doing these things to be her friend, or maybe a “backup.”
Everyone’s eyes subconsciously looked at her. The bullied boy next to her and the other scared students’ eyes lit up when they saw her. This must be what it feels like to be rescued by a queen.
Fu You had absolute power in Chengchun University. In this school, only the principal was higher in rank than Fu You. Yu Shang came next, followed by the student council.
Yu Shang indeed stopped. He turned to look at Fu You, but his hand was still gripping the auntie’s arm. With a teasing look on his face, he said, “Oh, does the Queen also want to try this feeling? I think it’s great. How about you take her place?”
“Have you had enough? Let her go!”
“What? What did you say?”
Fu You didn’t say a word. To deal with someone who was pretending to be deaf, she had only one thought. Since she thought about it, she had to do it. She strode toward Yu Shang and gave him a resounding slap:
“Slap!”
After she was done, she clapped her hands and said in a cold voice, “Now, did you hear me clearly? If not, I don’t mind helping you again.”
On the outside, she looked cold, but on the inside, she was panicking. After all, she had never laid a hand on anyone in her twenty-something years. What’s more, it was such a loud slap. But she had seen enough to know what to do. All those palace drama shows she watched weren’t for nothing.
The two lackeys behind him lowered their heads and backed away. They knew that if they didn’t, the slap wouldn’t just land on Yu Shang’s face. They would be in trouble, too.
Ren Jiejie and Fu Lu stood by Fu You’s side, backing her up as they watched Yu Shang hold his slapped face. He yelled with his eyes wide, “You b****! How dare you hit me!”
Everyone’s eyes widened. This was the first time they had heard someone curse at Fu You like this. In this school, not even the principal dared to speak loudly to Fu You. Not only was Yu Shang’s voice loud, but he also cursed at her.
Even the teachers at the counter, who were a little far away, stopped what they were doing and walked toward Yu Shang.
“What are you doing?”
Seeing the teachers coming over, Fu You crossed her arms and replied, “Teachers, he’s openly bullying an employee, which seriously harms the school’s reputation. According to the school rules, he should be expelled. Otherwise, it will be hard to convince others. If the auntie is fired because of this and he isn’t punished, then no parents will bring their children to this school.”
When the Queen spoke, everyone started to get excited:
“Yeah, I’m with the Queen! She’s right! The school shouldn’t protect him. It must be handled seriously!”
“Exactly! This is outrageous! It’s damaging our school’s reputation!”
“Teachers, you must do something for us!”
Seeing the teachers’ difficult expressions, Fu You was about to add fuel to the fire, but a female teacher stood up and said, “Students, don’t worry. The school will handle this matter seriously. Everyone, please go get your food. The show’s over!”
Fu You watched as the students turned around and continued to line up for food. She looked at Yu Shang, who had finally let go of the auntie’s hand. She also looked at the teachers’ displeased expressions, but she didn’t feel a sense of satisfaction in her “big sister” act.
In the past, she always wanted to be the “big sister.” So when she was a student, she didn’t like to study. She liked to watch people show off and be their lackey. But the older she got, the more she realized that people are always lonely.
Now, standing here, she finally experienced what it felt like to be a “big sister,” but she suddenly felt that this school was truly pathetic. They could clearly distinguish right from wrong and knew what they could and couldn’t do, but not a single person was willing to stand up and stop Yu Shang.
If all the onlookers had stood up, could Yu Shang and his two lackeys really have beaten dozens of people? She didn’t believe it. What’s more, there were more than just dozens of people in the cafeteria.
Fu You didn’t know how to describe them. If she said they were cold-blooded, they had just spoken up. If she said they weren’t, no one was willing to be the first to act. Maybe they were just used to it.
Or maybe they were already numb to being bullied.
“Alright, Fu You, you want to fight with power and numbers, huh? I admit defeat this time. But let me tell you, don’t get too smug. Let’s go!”
After making his threats, Yu Shang left without looking back. They walked very quickly. Ke Na originally wanted to stay with Fu You, but seeing Yu Shang walk away, he quietly followed them. The figures of the group disappeared into the crowd.
Fu You didn’t plan to go after them. The school was small, and she would run into them eventually. She saw the auntie holding her arm. She was about to go and take the auntie to the infirmary, but the teachers had already taken her there.
What a troublesome morning. On the way back to the classroom, Fu You asked Fu Lu, “A’Lu, how are you feeling now?”
Fu Lu hesitated, wondering if he should tell the truth, but then he felt that he shouldn’t hide anything. So he told her everything. “I don’t have a physical body now, and my power is slowly dissipating. It will take a long time for me to recover.”
“Physical body? Where is it? How can we find it?”
“My physical body is in the principal’s office. I’ve tried before, but I can’t get in. It’s like some kind of power is blocking me. I can only get in with the principal’s permission, but we haven’t seen the principal in a long time.”
Upon hearing that, Fu You realized that she hadn’t seen the principal in a long time either. Too many things had happened recently. It looked like she had to go and meet this principal.
