- Chapter 37 - The Bizarre Campus: Ms. Xun Lu's "Resurrection"
“Fu You, how dare you burn my body? I’m going to tear you to shreds!”
In an instant, Xun Lu used all her power, gathering it in her mind and sending it out. Wave after wave of roaring sound rushed out of the formation.
Her voice pierced through the entire campus. The zombies downstairs heard the sound and swarmed into the dorm building. When all the zombies and Xun Lu’s subordinates saw Xun Lu in the formation, they all had an expression of disbelief.
In their eyes, there was no way that Ms. Xun Lu could be defeated so easily. They never expected her to be trapped and unable to move here.
“What are you looking at, you bunch of useless things? You can’t even kill a student. You’ve really disappointed me!”
The zombies all hung their heads, and no one dared to say a word. They stood still, not daring to move. Xun Lu was even more furious. “Are you all made of wood? Why are you just standing there dumbly? Hurry up and find a way to get me out! I’m telling you, even if you have to sacrifice yourselves with a bl00d offering, you have to break this thing for me. Otherwise, when I get out, you’ll still die!”
“Yes, Ms. Xun Lu.”
Everyone answered in unison and stepped forward to attack the formation with their power. They even took out the daggers and long blades from their waists and stabbed them into the formation, but there was still no movement. The formation was still intact.
Everyone looked at each other and didn’t say a word, but it was as if a resonance had been created in their minds. They surrounded the formation where Xun Lu was and channeled their power through the person in the middle to the formation. Cracks began to appear on the bed frame and the walls of the room.
The power was on the verge of collapsing, reaching its peak. All the zombies looked troubled. They felt their life force being drained. “Ms. Xun Lu, we are willing to serve you, even if it costs us our lives.”
The man in the lead reached out his hand to the formation, letting it burn him. The next second, with a “boom,” the entire room was engulfed in smoke.
A loud noise came, and Fu You subconsciously looked in the direction of the sound. Her chest suddenly felt tight. It was as if she could feel that the formation in the dorm that was connected to her was broken. Xun Lu must have escaped.
Fu You took a small card out of her pocket and searched for a long time. She only found two cards with a character and a weapon on them. They looked like they meant business. They should be combat cards. One card could summon many soldiers, and the other was a small general.
When she looked closely, there seemed to be a ball of dark energy behind the small general’s card, but she couldn’t see it clearly. The more she looked, the blurrier it got. Whatever, she thought. I’ll just act like a desperate person. I have to win no matter what. I hope Fu Lu can come out quickly and not get killed by that monster Xun Lu before I can even finish my mission.
Downstairs in the Chongde Building, Ren Jiejie found Fu You. In that instant, a bloody light shot up into the sky from the dorm building.
“It seems she’s coming back to life,” Fu You said faintly, looking at the bloody light.
Ren Jiejie was a little confused. She quickly asked, “What do you mean? I don’t understand.”
“She’s going to sacrifice everyone’s souls and bl00d to forcefully resurrect herself with that power.”
“What? No, that can’t happen. If she really comes back to life, won’t we all die? Fu You, we have to stop her!”
Ren Jiejie no longer cared that she had a fever or that she was scared. This was a matter of life and death. Her own condition wasn’t that important anymore. If that woman came back to life, she would die anyway.
In that case, it was better to take a chance with Fu You. What if they succeeded? If they didn’t, at least she would have died for a good cause.
“It’s too late. The only one who can seal her is Fu Lu, and the formation has already been destroyed. We can’t do anything now.”
Ren Jiejie looked at Fu You. “A’You, how can you say you can’t do it if you don’t even try? I know you’re not the kind of person who gives up easily. Tell me what I can do, and I’ll do it even if it costs me my life.”
Fu You looked lost. She’s right. How could she say she couldn’t do it if she didn’t even try? She was putting all her hope on Fu Lu now, hoping that he could get through it and successfully return to the stone carving. But she didn’t know what she should do now.
“Wait, the formation. Jiejie, you go and fix the formation.”
She remembered what Fu Lu had told her before. It was because his physical body and the formation were unintentionally destroyed. To eliminate these evil spirits, they had to fix the physical body and the formation. Before, they just wanted to seal and suppress them, but they didn’t expect them to have such bad intentions and even use him. So, after everything was fixed, they had to be eliminated.
Fu You told Ren Jiejie the method of repairing that Fu Lu had told her. Ren Jiejie quickly started to move. She didn’t have anything with her, but she wasn’t afraid. She just picked up a stick from the ground and walked determinedly in the opposite direction from Fu You.
There were three places she had to fix. The first was the pavilion in the center of the Taiji Lake, the second was the flagpole next to the abandoned basketball court, and the last was the ancient stone on the mountain behind the school, which was said to be hundreds of years old.
The method of fixing was simple: find the object containing the evil spirit’s interference that Xun Lu had hidden and burn it.
This object could be a blade, a plant, or a talisman. Fu You wasn’t sure what it was. To be precise, Fu Lu wasn’t sure either. So as long as it looked strange, she couldn’t miss a single one.
Fu You watched Ren Jiejie leave. Then, she went back to the place where she had burned Xun Lu’s body. She walked up to it and saw that the pit was still there, but the body was gone.
A strong sense of danger rose in her heart. With a “boom,” the grave pit exploded. Fu You quickly backed up a few steps. Countless small rocks flew up like fireworks and then fell back down. Luckily, Fu You dodged them in time, or she would have been buried alive.
“Hahahaha, the heavens don’t want me to die! I’m finally alive again!”
Fu You looked in the direction of the familiar voice. The corpse that had been burned beyond recognition was now perfectly intact and floating in midair, laughing with satisfaction as it looked at its body.
Below her stood a few men in student uniforms, bowing at a ninety-degree angle and respectfully saying:
“Congratulations, Ms. Xun Lu, on your return!”
Did she really come back to life?
Fu You called out to the system in her mind, but there was no notification. There was no notification that the BOSS had died, nor was there a notification that her mission had failed. This meant that Xun Lu wasn’t truly resurrected.
In that case, it was more like a dark spell.
Thinking of this, Fu You decisively took out the two small cards and tore them to shreds. As the shredded paper scattered on the ground, nearly a hundred soldiers instantly appeared around her.
In the lead was a general in red and black armor, and behind him were dozens of soldiers with long spears, all with an outstanding demeanor.
At both ends of the general and the soldiers, there were also dozens of generals who were holding dark glass balls that floated in the air. The balls emitted a dark light. They wore masks and had no expression. They were all dressed in black robes and were hovering in the air with their feet off the ground.
Xun Lu and her subordinates all looked at Fu You. A man standing in front said, “What kind of dark spell is this?”
Fu You didn’t pay him any mind. She just said faintly, “Kill!”
Upon hearing the order, the general standing in front shouted, “Kill them!”
“Charge!”
All the soldiers rushed out, splitting into several waves of attack. Xun Lu, who was floating in the air, let out a cold snort and chuckled softly. “How pathetic.”
With that, she waved her hand, and several skulls flew out and rushed toward the soldiers. The skulls all had ferocious expressions, with long fangs and a powerful offense. There was also a ball of fire in their eyes.
“Crack!”
A skull bit through a soldier’s waist. The soldiers behind him saw this. They used their long spears to stab and lift the skull, then swung it in the air, and finally slammed it on the ground. The skull instantly turned into a cloud of black smoke and disappeared.
Fu You took the opportunity to sneak to Xun Lu’s side and took out the long blade that could absorb souls. She noticed that every time Xun Lu cast a spell, the pouch on her side would flash. It seemed that there was a continuous source of power in there.
“Cover me!”
Fu You gave the order to a few soldiers next to her. With their cover, she rushed forward. When Xun Lu saw this, she smiled proudly and said to Fu You, “I wanted to find you myself. Since you’re here, then die!—”
As soon as she finished speaking, she slammed her hand on the ground. Cracks appeared on the ground in front of Fu You, and many small fragments came out of the ground. She couldn’t see what they were, but the next second, a creature eight feet tall with scarlet skin, long fangs, a human face, and a giant snake body appeared. Fu You couldn’t understand what kind of monster this was. She could only run.
Before she could turn to run away, the big snake suddenly opened its mouth and let out a hiss. It turned its head, flicked its forked tongue, and lifted its tail, whipping it toward Fu You.
Fu You didn’t think about running away at this moment. Instead, she ran under the big snake. The moment its tail was raised and was about to slam down, Fu You had already crossed to its back. The tail almost grazed her as it fell.
She quickly hid behind it, took out the long blade from her waist, and held it with both hands, plunging it into the big snake’s waist. Bl00d instantly gushed out. The big snake let out a pained roar, lifted its tail, and whipped Fu You away.
“Ugh—”
Fu You was heavily thrown to the ground. Her bones felt like they were about to fall apart. The pain was unbearable. She fought through the pain and got up from the ground. At this moment, the big snake opened its mouth wide and spat out a scarlet ball of fire at her. The soldiers around her saw this and rushed forward to block the big snake’s attack for her.
Dozens of soldiers were massacred. The general gave an order and summoned a new batch of soldiers. Xun Lu didn’t want to get tangled up with these small soldiers. Seeing that the general could summon soldiers endlessly, she suddenly disappeared. The next second, she appeared directly behind the general.
She caught him off guard and plunged her sharp claws into his chest. She saw that the general didn’t have a heart and didn’t bleed. With a “crunch,” the general was torn to shreds.
