- Chapter 38 - The Bizarre Campus: Fu Lu Is Back
“Fu You, is this all you’ve got? How boring. You’re not even a worthy opponent for me to play with. I don’t know what that boy Fu Lu sees in you~”
Xun Lu said mockingly. With another wave of her hand, a scarlet dusk descended from the sky, heavily pressing down on the soldiers on the ground. Fu You could only watch as the soldiers were torn to shreds one by one. She looked up at Xun Lu and saw that she didn’t even use any effort. With just a single finger pointed at the ground, all the soldiers were shattered, and paper fragments flew everywhere.
The next second, she suddenly appeared in front of Fu You and grabbed her by the neck, trying to make her feel what it was like to have her neck slowly squeezed to death. But she didn’t want her to die too quickly, so she did it slowly, torturing Fu You.
Fu You took a dagger from her pocket and stabbed it into Xun Lu’s shoulder. Xun Lu let go of Fu You in pain. Fu You instantly swapped it for the long blade and swung it at Xun Lu. Although Xun Lu turned her face away, she still couldn’t avoid it. The long blade slashed her cheek, greedily absorbing her energy.
Xun Lu let out a scream and glared at Fu You. She no longer touched the wound on her cheek. Instead, she flew forward and grabbed Fu You’s neck again.
If she was going to die, she was going to take this woman with her!
“I really underestimated you. A mere human, and you have so many tricks up your sleeve. You burned my body and destroyed my soul!”
Her palm gave off a freezing cold sensation. Fu You felt as if her body was about to be frozen. Her whole body started to get cold. She couldn’t speak, and her legs were dangling in the air. Her body was getting colder and colder, as if her bl00d was slowly freezing.
Fu You struggled to pry Xun Lu’s hand away and slowly spat out a few words from her mouth, “Let… me… go!”
The more she struggled, the faster the cold invaded her body. Her hands gradually lost their warmth, and her movements to pry Xun Lu’s hand away slowly stopped. Seeing that she was about to die, Xun Lu forcefully threw her away.
Fu You fell heavily to the ground, gasping for air with great difficulty. Xun Lu didn’t want her to die so quickly. A mere human had broken her plan so many times and even made her lose Fu Lu’s protection. It would be a disservice to the suffering she had endured if she didn’t torture her properly.
Originally, she could have been resurrected as a human. Originally, she could have been with Fu Lu. But now she was in this monstrous state. Fu Lu’s heart had gone out to this little b****. How could she let Fu Lu’s sweetheart die so easily?
“Do you want to know where I’ve imprisoned Fu Lu?”
Xun Lu slowly descended from the air. She swayed her slender waist and slowly walked up to Fu You. She reached out and pinched Fu You’s jaw, lifting her head. She chuckled softly. “Why don’t you tell me what kind of spell you cast on him to make him so obsessed with you? Before, he was willing to kill those people to stitch my body together, but when he met you, he didn’t dare to gouge out your eyes. It makes me a little curious!”
“What did you do to him?” Fu You glared at her. “Why does it have to be my eyes?”
This was the part she didn’t understand. Why her? If it wasn’t for her eyes, maybe Fu Lu would have done it already and resurrected Xun Lu as a human. If that were the case, would this war have never happened?
No, that’s not it. She almost forgot that her mission in this instance was to get Fu Lu. So no matter if Xun Lu was resurrected or not, she would still fight Xun Lu for Fu Lu, and she would win. So this battle would have happened no matter what.
It just would have been triggered differently.
“You want to know, huh? Then you have to endure it. If you’re accidentally tortured to death by me, you’ll never see him again in this life.”
Ren Jiejie first went to the cracks in the bricks under the flagpole of the abandoned basketball court and found a talisman. She tore it to shreds and burned it. Her next stop was the pavilion in the center of the Taiji Lake.
Fu You didn’t say which pavilion it was, so she had to take a guess. If she guessed correctly, she would be able to find the item faster. If she didn’t, she would have to walk around to the other side.
When she turned back and passed by the dorm building, she saw the huge hole in the fourth and fifth floors of the building that had been blown out. Her heart sank, and her running footsteps slowly came to a halt.
Many mummified corpses were hanging from the upper floors, and the ground was covered with mummified corpses as well. Not a single person was alive, not even with the ability to be a zombie. They had all been completely drained of their life force and bl00d.
Ren Jiejie was shaking all over as she cursed. She clenched her fists and the stick in her hand. She carefully avoided the corpses on the ground, so as not to cause them more pain. Then, she sniffed and didn’t look back, continuing to run toward the Taiji Lake.
When she got to Taiji Lake, she saw that there was a pavilion in the middle of the lake, but there was no bridge leading to it. The entire Taiji Lake only had one bridge in the very center.
She looked at the lake. The water was very murky now, and she couldn’t see the bottom at all. The only thing she could see were the carps with their mouths open, all gathered together on the surface.
Ren Jiejie backed up with the stick in her arms. The only thing on her mind was these man-eating carp. The rumors and the sight of the plump carp in front of her made her feel a little lost. She didn’t know how to get to the pavilion.
If she swam across, she would definitely be eaten by these carp the moment she got in the water. She quickly racked her brain. In a moment of desperation, she came up with a somewhat clumsy idea.
She quickly stood up, not caring about getting muddy. She turned and ran to the school cafeteria. She grabbed a cart full of cooking oil, gasoline, and other flammable and explosive items and took them to the Taiji Lake. This was all she could find in the kitchen.
She stood by the cart and caught her breath. Then, she straightened up, took a deep breath, and poured all the cooking oil and gasoline into the lake. She also threw the gas canisters and other things into the lake. An oil slick instantly appeared on the surface of the lake.
She wasn’t sure if throwing a lighter into the lake would light it up, so she left a small bottle of gasoline for herself. She opened the cap, held the gasoline in one hand and the lighter in the other, and took a deep breath.
The lighter was lit. She made a throwing motion with both hands. “Three, two, one…” After silently counting, she threw them into the lake. The gasoline formed a perfect arc in the air, and the lighter added a red flame to the arc.
“Boom!”
The lake instantly burst into a roaring fire. The gas canisters in the lake exploded one after another. This was the most beautiful fountain Ren Jiejie had ever seen. The only pity was that there was no music and no one to witness it with her.
The carps were blown onto the shore, their bodies burned. They were still struggling on the shore. Ren Jiejie walked closer and saw that the carp’s heads had turned into ferocious faces with fangs. After a struggle, they rotted into a pile of bones.
The fire on the lake hadn’t died down yet. The rising steam made Ren Jiejie feel uneasy. She didn’t know how long this place would burn. She looked at the struggling carp on the lake and decided to go to another place first and come back to the Taiji Lake later.
What if those bad guys in the lake found her and pulled her into the lake with them? Then she’d be a goner. She decided to run away quickly. Anyway, Fu You had told her that those carp were enchanted and couldn’t leave the Taiji Lake. This fire was definitely going to kill them all.
After looking at her satisfying masterpiece, she clapped her hands and turned to walk toward the back mountain. The Taiji Lake was not far from the back mountain. She stepped onto the muddy path, but she couldn’t remember there being any historical stone on the back mountain.
She could only search aimlessly. But since no one had cleaned or built a road there for a long time, there were many trees, flowers, and weeds. She walked and felt like she was lost.
She searched for a long time, but she couldn’t see any historical stones. There wasn’t even a sign. She felt a little frustrated, so she had to search everywhere.
After walking around in circles for a while, she finally saw a small stone with a plaque on it. The wooden plaque was old, and the words were hard to make out. She crouched down and wiped the dust off it. Only then did she see the words “historical” and something else.
“I knew it! Why couldn’t I find it? So this historical stone is only this big. I wasted so much time looking for it. I was even planning to burn this whole forest down. What a sin!”
“Good thing I didn’t burn it. Otherwise, I would have to go to jail for burning the mountain for this small stone!!”
While muttering, she took out a tool and was about to start digging when the ground suddenly began to shake violently. It felt like an earthquake, but it wasn’t.
“What’s going on?”
Xun Lu raised her hand, and the big snake’s tail tightly wrapped around Fu You and lifted her into the air. Xun Lu then leapt onto the big snake’s head. Looking at Fu You’s miserable state, she laughed triumphantly.
Just when Fu You felt her body was about to be crushed, Xiaoyue, who was behind Xun Lu, turned into a vengeful spirit and rushed out. She attacked the big snake from behind. She extended her claws and snapped the big snake’s neck. The big snake’s tail naturally lost its strength without a head, and Fu You fell again.
Just when she thought she was going to die from the fall, a body caught her in midair and gently set her down on the ground.
She slowly opened her tightly closed eyes. The feeling of her feet on the ground felt unreal. Perhaps it was because her body was so cold, but it felt like she was in a dream. In the dream, the man holding her was Fu Lu.
“A’Lu…” she whispered. The gentle reply she received was, “Sister, I’m here.”
After putting Fu You down and making sure she was comfortable, Fu Lu looked up at Xiaoyue and smiled. “Not bad. You’ve been pretending for so long, and you’ve finally recovered.”
Xiaoyue replied, “Of course.”
