The Domineering CEO, but a Crybaby! - Chapter 12
Chapter 12: It Can Only Be You
He Shu couldn’t hear a single word that so-called Officer Judy said. When the person moved aside, without any warning or psychological preparation, she saw Pei Congxin.
‘She’ was leaning back in the chair, her hands clutching her neck, her head tilted, ‘staring directly’ at He Shu.
Her eyes were pitch-black and hollow, as if corroded, with cloudy mucus dripping out and hanging from the corners…
He Shu’s ears instantly started ringing, a buzzing sound in her head!
A person she had seen alive and well just yesterday had become a grotesque corpse just like that!
Even though she had heard the news in the morning, hearing that a person had died and seeing the corpse with her own eyes were two completely different feelings.
He Shu felt as if her soul was about to leave her body at that moment. Her mind was a complete blank. Amidst the sharp ringing in her ears, cold sweat drenched her entire back.
For a moment, she even had an auditory hallucination.
She thought she heard Pei Congxin say, ‘You’re next.’
He Shu’s teeth chattered from the cold, and her whole body began to tremble as she backed away step by step.
Su Ming noticed He Shu’s abnormality immediately. Prepared for this, she quickly unscrewed the thermos cup in her hand and stepped forward to offer the coffee.
Drinking something bitter could calm her nerves.
He Shu, however, wasn’t prepared for someone to be behind her. She turned around and bumped right into her!
Su Ming stumbled, and the thermos cup flew out of her hand!
‘Bang,’ a sound of a hard object hitting a soft one.
Steaming brown liquid burst onto the white sportswear, dripping down the fabric, splashing onto the brand-new white shoes with a tapping sound.
For a moment, He Shu felt as if this sound was the ticking of a life countdown clock.
Meeting those light purple eyes, she thought she heard Pei Congxin behind her say, ‘It’s your turn’…
The people in the office were attracted by this sudden turn of events. They all stopped what they were doing and looked at the person who was now in the corner.
Seeing such a quiet and well-behaved girl, they couldn’t help but feel a wave of sympathy, especially when they saw the walking stick in her hand. If she were a person with full mobility, she would have been able to dodge it.
Lisa reacted immediately and stepped forward to check on the girl. Their head had obviously shown some ‘interest’ in her, and she was willing to give her some extra care.
“Are you okay?”
She looked down and saw that the dripping coffee was still steaming. She reached out and touched it; it was very hot.
The girl’s face showed a look of pain, as if she had been badly scalded.
She was about to reach out to roll up the pant leg to check when she was suddenly pulled.
He Shu was pulling Su Ming. After the two of them steadied themselves and stood up, Su Ming saw Lisa’s actions and stepped forward to pull her away.
“Don’t you dare touch her!”
He Shu’s dazed consciousness recovered a bit in this shout. Seeing Cen Qianyi’s pained expression, she felt she was doomed, but at the same time, she noticed something.
“System, system, why is there no killing intent? Did the trial card expire?”
“It’s active and running well.”
He Shu was surprised. A light flashed in her mind. There was still hope!
She took a step forward, quickly wiped the coffee liquid off Cen Qianyi’s body, scooped her up by the back of her knees, and ran out.
Lisa lifted her foot to follow but was blocked by Su Ming.
“Our boss’s person doesn’t need you to worry about!”
Su Ming directed someone to clean up the mess on the floor. Lisa looked a little worried at the figure hurrying away down the corridor.
In Cen Qianyi’s shaking eyes, she saw He Shu’s tense jaw. She had seen it clearly. This person had accidentally knocked over the cup out of fear.
She could have dodged it, but in the office, there were a few police officers. She was a ‘blind person’ now, so she shouldn’t have been able to dodge it.
The coffee wasn’t that hot, but the sensory enhancer was at its peak effect. The spreading burning sensation on her body made Cen Qianyi clench her fists.
The card in her palm was crumpled into a ball.
He Shu hugged the person and returned to her office at the fastest speed. She entered the washroom inside.
Her gaze swept around, finding no place to put her down. He Shu directly lifted her onto the washbasin, hurriedly rolled up her pant leg.
From the top of her thigh down, there was a large patch of redness.
He Shu’s hands started to tremble. She was dead for sure, but at the same time, she felt like she was about to cry. The coffee didn’t look that hot, so why did it scald her like this?
Cen Qianyi also looked down and saw the red patch on her knee. She wasn’t surprised. Her body was special. Her skin was a sickly white, paler than normal people’s. Even a slight injury would look much more severe than on an average person.
She quite liked this ‘fragile’ trait of hers. It always made her seem especially helpless when she was pretending to be ‘weak’.
He Shu was genuinely feeling guilty now. No matter what, she was the one who caused the accident. She couldn’t care about being scared anymore. He Shu quickly lifted the person off the washbasin.
After skillfully but carefully taking off Cen Qianyi’s loose sportswear and the dirty white shoes, she carried her into the shower.
A look of surprise flashed in Cen Qianyi’s pain-filled, reddened eyes.
He Shu remembered that the first thing to do for a burn was to rinse it with cold water. She turned on the shower and carefully aimed it at the red area on her thigh.
The water flowed down her knee, along her calf, splashing on her bare feet. The scattered water droplets soaked He Shu’s pant legs and fell into her low-cut leather shoes.
He Shu didn’t care. She was focused on making up for her mistake.
The sound of the running water continued. He Shu carefully and meticulously observed the burned area. It was all okay; it didn’t feel like it was going to blister, and the color seemed to be fading a bit.
There was only one spot of redness that was particularly noticeable.
He Shu looked down at Cen Qianyi’s bare foot on the waterproof stone and used the shower to rinse the red mark that was particularly conspicuous among the water droplets.
It was on Cen Qianyi’s little toe on her right foot.
The water spread out, and He Shu realized something wasn’t right. She seemed to have seen a red mark on this part when she was putting shoes on Cen Qianyi on the mountaintop. Out of curiosity, she reached out and touched it.
It wasn’t a red string tied on, nor did it look like a tattoo, and it certainly couldn’t be a burn mark.
Cen Qianyi felt the touch on her toe. She could only see the top of He Shu’s head. Her black, slightly curly medium-length hair was scattered over her shoulders.
“What are you doing?”
The abrupt sound startled He Shu, and the shower in her hand shifted slightly. The water accidentally poured completely into her shoes.
She instinctively moved a step, her black leather shoes moving away from the bare, pale foot.
He Shu looked up at the owner of the foot, her mouth moving faster than her brain: “You have a red circle on your toe.”
Cen Qianyi curled her toes, arching the top of her foot.
“Take your hand away.”
He Shu snapped back to reality and quickly withdrew her hand. She was foolish; she was touching anyone’s feet.
“Uh, I thought it was a burn.”
After saying this, she wanted to bite off her own tongue. The way she said it, it was clear she had discovered it wasn’t a burn. Thinking about it, if a villain had something special on a special part of their body, it must have a special meaning.
The more you know, the faster you die.
He Shu saw that the rinsing was almost done, quickly turned off the shower, jumped out of the shower stall, and went to get a towel.
“What are you so afraid of?”
The person who hadn’t said much for two days actually asked her two questions in a row. He Shu turned around in surprise.
Cen Qianyi had this question many times over the past two days. What exactly was this person so afraid of…
He Shu thought of the corpse from a moment ago: “Someone died. Aren’t you scared?”
After saying it, she wanted to hit herself. Of course, she wasn’t scared; she was the ‘Kill Me’ top earner.
As expected, Cen Qianyi tilted her head: “What’s there to be afraid of about dead people?”
Living people are the scary ones.
He Shu didn’t want to answer this. She took a towel to hand to her.
“Hmm?”
The other person seemed to have become interested and even pressed on.
He Shu: “Of course, dead people are scary. Death is the most terrifying thing.”
Once you’re dead, you lose everything.
“Have you never killed anyone?”
The towel in He Shu’s hand almost fell to the floor. What kind of crazy talk was that? She was born in a society governed by law and grew up under the red flag. How could she have killed anyone? She hadn’t even killed a fish. At most, she’d killed a fly and accidentally stepped on an ant.
“No.”
He Shu hurriedly stuffed the towel into her hand.
Cen Qianyi blinked, a flash of surprise crossing her eyes.
Business people like them, if they couldn’t beat their opponents, they just loved to kill them. She had taken many jobs, all from these rich people.
Liar, Cen Qianyi concluded.
“I won’t be your plaything. Since you don’t plan to kill me, let me go.”
He Shu was miserable. She wanted to let her go, but the system wouldn’t allow it!
“Why don’t you try being one?”
Cen Qianyi looked at the other person’s suddenly red eyes and squeezed the towel in her hand.
“You should find someone else. I’m not suitable.”
He Shu’s tears gushed out.
“But what can I do? It can only be you.”
that’s funny
