The Domineering CEO, but a Crybaby! - Chapter 17.1
Chapter 17.1: She’s My Person
“Bang!”
In the dead of the night, a loud bang shattered the peace of the western hills.
It also woke up the person who was sleeping!
Su Ming’s eyes snapped open. She threw off the blanket and walked to the window.
Lights in the corners of the courtyard flickered on, and bodyguards rushed in one direction.
Su Ming opened the window and shouted, “What’s going on? What was that sound?”
Before her words had fully landed, a pair of combat boots appeared on the windowsill.
Tu Xuan climbed out of the third-floor window, used Su Ming’s second-floor window for leverage, and leaped down.
“It came from CEO He’s room. It was a gunshot. Stay put!”
Tu Xuan had just finished her shift and returned to her room to remove her gear. Just as she was about to lie down, she heard the sound from the villa.
She was certain it was a gunshot.
Su Ming was shocked. A gunshot? Why would there be a gunshot in the boss’s room?
Before she could ask again, Tu Xuan told Su Ming to stay in the annex, then charged toward the villa, gun in hand.
Su Ming watched the person disappear in the blink of an eye. She turned back into the room, quickly opened a desk drawer, took a handgun from a secret compartment, loaded it, and returned to the window. She climbed out and leaped down!
If He Shu had seen this, she would probably be amazed that her assistant had such skills!
But right now, she only had one thought: Where had she transmigrated to now???
Why, as soon as the lights came on, did she see a woman in black pointing a gun at her?!
Had she transmigrated into a **gang war???
What was that loud bang just now? It sounded like thunder out of nowhere.
And what was with this air? ‘Air blades’ were arranged vertically, densely packed, all pointing at her!
“Who are you? Cough, cough, cough…”
As soon as she opened her mouth, some dust came from somewhere. She accidentally inhaled it and had to cover her mouth and cough.
Just then, a gust of wind brushed past her hair, followed by another loud bang.
“Bang!”
He Shu’s ears were ringing and buzzing. A sharp alarm seemed to be blaring in her head.
A deep hole was left in the wall behind her. The wall around the hole quickly cracked, and sand and dust fell onto the bed.
He Shu instinctively covered her head to hide. Her lowered gaze met a pair of familiar light purple eyes.
Dust fell into them, and with just a gentle blink, her eyes turned red.
A name popped into He Shu’s mind, which was in no state to think.
Cen Qianyi!
The moment the name popped into her head, He Shu knew she hadn’t transmigrated. She was still in this chaotic, unfinished book world!
But she still didn’t know what was going on.
This scene wasn’t in the original book!
She turned her head abruptly to look at the woman who had fired the gun. Seeing that the other person was about to pull the trigger again without a word, He Shu grabbed a pillow and threw it at her while rolling off the bed with Cen Qianyi!
“Bang!” “Clatter!” “Ah!”
He Shu fell to the floor, and Cen Qianyi was half-hanging on the bed. The bullet, which had shifted upwards, hit the wall lamp that He Shu had turned on by the bed.
The sound of breaking glass and the gunshot, mixed with He Shu’s scream, echoed through the room, which had returned to darkness, and also reached Su Ming’s ears in the night.
“Boss!” Su Ming sped up her run toward the villa.
He Shu held her butt and got up, pulling Cen Qianyi with her, ready to run. At the same time, she called the system in her mind.
“System, come out! What’s going on? Who is this woman with the gun?!”
But the response He Shu got was a small lightning bolt icon and a string of text: [System is charging…]
Damn, you stupid system! Are you doing this on purpose? Charging at a critical moment? You’re not short on power; you’re short on morals!
In her anger, He Shu realized that the person next to her couldn’t be pulled. A ‘clang, clang’ sound of metal clashing was heard in the darkness.
Oh no! He Shu had forgotten that she had cuffed Cen Qianyi before bed!
In the pitch-black room, there was only a faint green light coming from the glasses on the woman with the gun.
Watching the other person clearly aiming the gun at her side, He Shu’s pupils contracted. That must be a pair of night-vision goggles. Oh no, she was screwed now!
“Help! Tu Xuan! Su Ming! Anyone! Come and save me!”
Since the other person could see, He Shu’s idea of staying silent and hiding her position was shattered. Watching the other person aim, He Shu hugged Cen Qianyi and rolled to the other side of the bed.
‘Bang!’
A large hole appeared in the floor. The whole room seemed to shake.
He Shu’s heart was in her throat. That hole almost landed on her. He Shu held her breath, grabbed the blanket from the bed, and threw it forward.
The blanket covered the head of the woman with the gun. He Shu took the opportunity to run, but Cen Qianyi was cuffed and couldn’t move. To run, she would have to leave her behind.
Hesitating for a thousandth of a second, He Shu took off running!
That was a big villain. She was foolish just now, even thinking about saving her. If she had died right then and there, wouldn’t everything be solved?
She wouldn’t have to be a pervert anymore, she wouldn’t die, and the world wouldn’t be destroyed. How great would that be!
But after only a few steps, He Shu realized that wouldn’t work!
That woman was on the other side of the door and had a gun. How could her two legs outrun a bullet?!
She could see the moving figure in the moonlight. One blanket couldn’t possibly trap a person!
He Shu made a U-turn and ran back to the bed. She yanked open the drawer of the bedside table next to her. With a ‘clatter’, she pulled so hard that the whole drawer came out.
Ignoring the pain of her foot being hit, He Shu grabbed a key from inside and dove back onto the bed.
Hurry, hurry, hurry. He Shu felt for Cen Qianyi’s wrist, found the handcuffs, and fumbled to shove the key into the keyhole!
Fight poison with poison, fight violence with violence!
In a life-or-death situation, He Shu remembered a movie she had seen before. When there was a monster that humans couldn’t deal with, they would release another monster.
To deal with a killer now, the best solution was, of course, to find another killer!
Cen Qianyi looked at the person who had left and returned, her red-rimmed eyes raising slightly. Her eyes were full of confusion.
Hadn’t she planned to run away alone…
“Hurry, hurry, hurry, you’re so slow, open it!” In her nervousness, He Shu mumbled. Sweat and tears fell from her forehead. She didn’t dare to look back, afraid that if she did, the gun would already be aimed at her.
“Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t shake, open, open, open it, hurry!”
Cen Qianyi’s gaze followed the tears falling from the corner of He Shu’s eyes and landed on her severely trembling hands. The hand with the key fumbled around, just not getting it into the keyhole. It poked her hand several times.
This person… was so scared, yet she came back…
Didn’t she want her to die? Why would she come back to save her?
Oh, no, she wanted [Billion] to die… but she didn’t know she was [Billion]…
But even so, she was just a ‘plaything.’ Was this person willing to risk her life for a ‘plaything’?
Cen Qianyi looked at the trembling blanket in the darkness. If this person wasn’t hypnotized, how could a blanket trap her? This woman had been fumbling with the lock for so long; she would have died many times over by now.
She looked back at the person who was so scared she was crying. Why did she come back?
‘Click,’ a sound was heard. He Shu burst into tears. She finally opened it. She pulled Cen Qianyi, dragged her off the bed, and pushed her forward.
“Hurry, hurry, hurry!”
Just as she was about to tell her to grab the gun, she looked up and saw that the woman still hadn’t gotten out of the blanket…
What was going on?
That wasn’t something that would just fall off with a tug. He Shu was confused. Even though she was confused, it would be stupid not to run in this situation!
Cen Qianyi was blocking the way. He Shu simply lifted her and ran out!
The moment she ran out the door, Tu Xuan and her people arrived.
He Shu shouted in panic, “Quick! There’s a crazy person inside! Be careful, she has a gun!”
When Cen Qianyi was put down by the woman and her feet landed on the ground, she confirmed one thing: she had truly gone back to save her…
The bodyguards quickly surrounded He Shu and the person in her arms. Tu Xuan took a shield from one of her subordinates, rushed to the front, and looked into the room.
“Drop your weapon! You’re surrounded!”
The light from outside came into the room, extending to the feet of the person inside. Just then, the blanket was successfully pulled off, revealing the woman inside.
The woman looked very young, in her twenties, wearing a black combat suit. Her long hair was tied in a ponytail, revealing her entire face, but the night-vision goggles she was wearing covered her eyebrows and eyes, so her specific features couldn’t be seen.
Tu Xuan didn’t immediately shoot. She wanted to know how this person had gotten past their guards and snuck into the villa alone.
“Drop your weapon!”
Hearing Tu Xuan’s roar, Su Ming and everyone else present looked into He Shu’s room.
No one noticed the woman in He Shu’s arms. The hand that lifted the loose hair on her forehead made a move as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
“Bang!”
Under everyone’s stunned gazes, the woman in the room, without any hesitation, raised her gun to her temple and pulled the trigger.
No one had anticipated this action! He Shu was even less prepared!
She watched a person’s head explode and bl00d splatter in front of her!
With just that one glance, her vision went black.
She fainted.
…
He Shu had a long, long dream, or rather, a series of dreams.
In her dreams, she experienced all kinds of deaths. Every time she died, she would open her eyes and be in the next dream.
Cen Qianyi was in all of the dreams… This was her basis for judging whether she was still in a dream.
As for why she knew it was a dream, it was because the contents of these dreams were too absurd.
She actually saw Cen Qianyi dying to save her over and over again…
Dreams were always the opposite of reality. How could Cen Qianyi, a person who wanted to kill her, save her…
She opened her eyes again in excruciating pain. Seeing the face of the person in her arms, He Shu sighed. It was another new dream.
But this dream was a little special. The surrounding environment looked too clean and peaceful.
“Knock, knock, knock.” A knock on the door sounded. He Shu turned to look at the door, her heart also pounding. She didn’t know what she would have to face this time.
Su Ming pushed the door open. Seeing that the boss was awake, she breathed a sigh of relief. But when she saw the fear in the boss’s eyes, the breath she had let out was held again.
“Boss, what’s wrong? Do you want me to get the doctor to take another look?”
He Shu turned to look at the person in a daze. It wasn’t until the person got close and she saw the concern in their eyes that some memories gradually returned. She tentatively called out, “Su Ming?”
Su Ming was surprised: “What’s wrong, boss?” Why did she look like she didn’t know her?
He Shu heard the response and pinched her thigh. Darn it, it didn’t hurt. She was still dreaming…
She closed her eyes in disappointment.
But soon, He Shu realized something was wrong. How many legs did she have?
She touched the leg she had just pinched. She silently counted 1 in her heart. Then, her hand under the blanket moved to the side, touched a leg, that was 2. Right next to it was 3.
He Shu’s hand returned to the leg she had started with, then she moved her leg. The leg she was touching didn’t move. She suddenly opened her eyes and stiffly turned to look at the person whose eyes were already open.
Oh no, she pinched the wrong one!
She trembled as she pulled back the blanket and looked inside. There was a bruise on the glaringly white leg under her hand.
He Shu looked at Cen Qianyi with trembling eyes: “If I say it wasn’t on purpose, would you believe me?”
Su Ming was confused: “What? What are you saying, boss?”
He Shu found it hard to explain to Su Ming that she wanted to verify if she was dreaming and ended up pinching Cen Qianyi’s thigh and bruising it.
She reached out and carefully rubbed the leg, wanting to make amends, but seeing the slightly darker look in those light purple eyes, she knew she was wrong again…
He Shu suddenly got up, put some distance between herself and Cen Qianyi, and turned to Su Ming: “What’s going on? Where am I?”
As she asked, He Shu’s memories began to surge like a tide, stuffing all the fragments from last night back into her mind.
After Su Ming entered the room, she avoided looking at the other person on the bed. Only when she heard He Shu’s question did she glance at the person beside her.
When the boss fainted yesterday, she was tightly gripping that person’s hand and couldn’t be separated, so she had to arrange for her to be in this room as well. She couldn’t see the specific movements under the blanket just now… but the movements under the blanket, she knew, were intimate…
Thinking of this, Su Ming glanced again at the person who was awake but silent. It was undeniable that this woman was very beautiful, but the boss’s previous playthings were also not bad-looking. Why was she so special to this one this time…
So special that she even felt a sense of crisis.
As soon as this feeling came up, Su Ming rejected it. It was impossible. The only person who could always be by the boss’s side was her. She was the most indispensable person to the boss.
Su Ming looked away, put away these wrong feelings, and briefly but concisely explained what had happened after He Shu fainted last night.
He Shu was relieved to hear Su Ming say that she had already called the police. This person was good. She didn’t do anything like secretly burying a body.
Thinking of last night’s events, He Shu clutched her chest. The thought still sent a shiver down her spine. “Do you know who that person was?”
“As soon as Detective Chen and her team arrived yesterday, they quickly identified the person.” At this point, Su Ming paused, “She was also a detective.”
He Shu was surprised. A detective? Why would a detective want to kill her?
Thinking of this, she suddenly looked at the other person on the bed. Was it possible that the person was here to kill Cen Qianyi?
Su Ming followed He Shu’s gaze to Cen Qianyi again. She was confused about why the boss was suddenly looking at her. The string of deaths had happened after this woman arrived… Could it be…
But there was no specific connection yet. The woman was still locked up in the villa when Dr. Pei died.
Cen Qianyi closed her eyes again to continue resting when the two started talking. She didn’t open her eyes even when she felt their gazes on her.
He Shu glanced at her and then looked back at Su Ming, motioning for her to continue. She must have had something specific to say since she had woken her up.
Su Ming did have something.
“The detective’s identity is special. As soon as the death was reported, Detective Chen and her team received instructions to not touch anything, to secure the scene, and to wait for a specialist to arrive.”
Just now, the ‘specialist’ arrived in a helicopter and demanded to see the owner of the villa.
“It’s Officer Judy, the one we saw at the hospital.”
He Shu felt a little pain in her hand when she heard that Officer Judy wanted to see her. This time, there was no way she was going to shake her hand.
After thinking about it, she agreed.
“Okay, tell her to wait a bit. I’ll change and be right there.”
As soon as Su Ming left, He Shu saw the person next to her sit up. She was so scared she scurried backward. Fortunately, the bed was big enough, or she would have fallen off.
Meeting those light purple eyes, He Shu noticed that the color of her eyes seemed a little darker than usual, and there were some emotions she couldn’t understand.
He Shu thought of last night. They had barely survived a life-and-death situation together. Looking at the person now, her emotions were a little complicated.
Or maybe it was because of the dreams.
Cen Qianyi sat up. She was used to the fear in the woman’s eyes every time she saw her.
She had confirmed one thing after last night: she could fall asleep next to this woman… and not only that, she wouldn’t dream of that laboratory anymore…
Cen Qianyi carefully looked at He Shu, her gaze serious, as if she wanted to see the secrets within her… What was so special about her…
He Shu’s scalp tightened from being stared at. Fortunately, she didn’t feel any killing intent. Thinking of killing intent, He Shu finally remembered something she hadn’t done!
“System, get out here!”
[Good morning, host. It’s a new day. This morning’s plot was canceled due to a conflict arising from a new plot extended by a character in the book.]
If He Shu hadn’t almost died last night, she would definitely be happy about not having to ‘walk the dog.’
“Good morning, my ass! What happened yesterday? Why did someone come to kill me? This wasn’t in the original book! Was it you? What are you trying to do?!”
“The plot was extended by a character in the book.”
“Why did the plot extend in such a bizarre way?”
“You’ll have to ask yourself that, host.”
He Shu was confused: “Ask me?”
Before she could ask for clarification, she heard a question.
“Why did you save me?”
It wasn’t the system asking; it was Cen Qianyi.
He Shu snapped back to reality and looked at Cen Qianyi. The sight made her eyes tremble.
When Cen Qianyi was lying down, her hair covered the side of her face. Now that she was sitting up, she had pushed her hair back, revealing her entire face. The red marks on her face were exposed to He Shu without any obstruction.
“What’s wrong with your face?”
He Shu asked in confusion. There was a finger-wide red mark on each side of Cen Qianyi’s face.
Cen Qianyi raised an eyebrow. She watched as the other person pointed to her face with a finger. She reached up and touched it, then turned and took something from beside the pillow, tossing it between the two of them.
He Shu looked at it. A purple ball. The gag she had picked out for Cen Qianyi yesterday. No, He Shu was on the verge of tears. She had clearly buckled it on quite loosely, so why were there such obvious marks on her face?
What kind of skin was this person’s?
Cen Qianyi saw her flickering gaze. She rubbed her face with a bent finger and repeated her question: “Why did you save me?”
Her initial act of hugging her to dodge the bullets could be said to be an incidental action, but her return after leaving was clearly a deliberate decision.
She was so scared, yet she still came back to save her…
“Hmm, why?”
He Shu started to feel confused. What why? Why did she save Cen Qianyi? Had she saved Cen Qianyi?
No, that wasn’t right. She hadn’t wanted to save her.
Her memory of last night was still very clear. She had actually wanted Cen Qianyi to save her, but from the look on Cen Qianyi’s face, she seemed to have misunderstood.
He Shu’s eyes lit up. This was a great misunderstanding!
If Cen Qianyi thought she had saved her, would she torture her a little less when it was time to kill her?
He Shu looked at the person, cleared her throat, and accepted the misunderstanding: “Because…”
Because of what? He Shu’s mind was spinning rapidly. Finally, a light flashed in her mind.
“Because you’re my person.”
…
Upstairs, the atmosphere was harmonious. Downstairs, it was tense.
Nie Wenya looked at the person blocking her way. It was He Shu’s bodyguard captain.
Tu Xuan, despite knowing that the person who came must have some background, didn’t back down at all: “Who are you?”
Nie Wenya smiled: “You weren’t at the hospital last time, were you? I already introduced myself once. My name is Judy. You can call me Officer Judy.”
Tu Xuan didn’t call her that. She looked at the body on the ground and raised her chin slightly: “Is that your person?”
Detective Chen had revealed a little bit of information, saying that the dead woman had a special identity and was also a police officer, so they had to wait for her superior to arrive before they could handle the body.
They had waited until dawn, and then this red-haired woman arrived.
She had even come in a helicopter.
Her helicopter didn’t even follow instructions and insisted on landing on He Shu’s favorite flowerbed, as if on purpose.
