The Domineering CEO, but a Crybaby! - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: A Nightmare
“Clatter, clatter,” the helicopter started up with a deafening noise.
Nie Wenyu put on her headphones and waved at the people on the helipad who were seeing her off.
The cabin door closed, and the helicopter slowly rose into the sky. The wind it created made people’s hair a mess.
Lisa held down her hair, which was flying and covering her eyes, as she walked towards the building. Just as she reached the elevator entrance, the elevator door opened.
Gu Feng came out in a hurry with a file folder. When she saw Lisa, she quickly asked, “Where’s the boss?”
Lisa raised an eyebrow: “What’s wrong? Something happened?”
She said this and looked outside. In the distant blue sky, the helicopter had already flown away.
“You won’t be able to catch up even if something happened, unless you can fly.”
Gu Feng, of course, couldn’t fly. She looked a little frustrated: “The boss always treats the office as her home when there’s a case. What’s going on this time? Where is she going?”
Lisa looked at the helicopter, which was now as small as a model in the blue sky, and shrugged: “I used to think that the boss would dedicate her whole life to her beliefs, but now it seems she hasn’t met someone who can shake her beliefs.”
Gu Feng was confused: “Who?”
Lisa pressed the elevator button again. The elevator door opened, and Gu Feng followed her into the elevator and pressed on with her questions: “Is the boss going to see someone? A lover?”
Lisa waved her hand: “She doesn’t open her heart for me to see, so I don’t know if it’s her lover, but she’s definitely smitten.”
Gu Feng’s mind turned, and she thought of someone: “The boss is going to H City?”
Lisa nodded.
Gu Feng frowned: “That person, in a way, is a half-suspect… Is it a good idea for the boss to be in contact with her at this time?”
Lisa had said this in front of Nie Wenyu.
But Nie Wenyu had replied this way.
“Precisely because she is a suspect, we need to ensure her personal safety before she is brought to justice.”
After hearing this, Gu Feng looked at Lisa. The two of them exchanged a look, and their eyes were filled with doubt about this statement.
There were so many suspects, why wasn’t she worried about the others… especially the number one suspect, who was a bodyguard. What a dangerous job.
The two of them chatted about Nie Wenyu’s personal gossip all the way back to the office. Then, Lisa remembered something: “What did you need to talk to the boss about?”
Gu Feng almost forgot: “The lab results are out. The powerful anesthetic that Fang Nian brought to the villa has the same ingredients as the several illegal samples you brought back from that doctor named Pei’s office in H City.”
Lisa was surprised: “How is that possible?”
Could it be that the doctor, who was secretly formulating illegal substances, also had a way to sell them, and Fang Nian happened to buy them?
Before she could ask, Gu Feng answered this question: “According to the medication records on that doctor named Pei’s computer, she only made one or two finished products of each dose. They were probably for her own use, or for a specific person. It’s not very likely that she was selling them.”
“Are Fang Nian and that Pei person acquainted?”
“After the results came out, I asked a colleague who was investigating Pei Congxin’s social connections. She said there was no overt evidence that the two of them had any contact.”
Lisa’s brow furrowed. This was very strange. How did Fang Nian get her hands on the powerful anesthetic formulated by that doctor?
The General He she was going to kill was the boss of the hospital where that doctor named Pei worked.
What kind of grievances and enmities were there between these three people? Could the deaths of Fang Nian and Pei Congxin have something to do with He Shu?
Lisa quickly started an investigation with these questions in mind. At the same time, she had Gu Feng send the report directly to Nie Wenyu’s email and also sent a message to remind the boss to check it.
When Nie Wenyu received the message, she had just sent a message to her poor little darling and was waiting for a reply. When the message came in, she thought her little darling had finally replied, but when she opened it, she found it was a message from her subordinate.
Seeing Lisa’s reminder, she logged into her email and saw the report from Gu Feng.
These two seemingly unrelated cases were actually connected. Nie Wenyu’s expression became more and more serious as she read the report.
After reading everything, her mind was like a scrambled Rubik’s Cube. She put these messages into the corresponding squares and started turning them in her mind like a Rubik’s Cube, connecting and breaking apart these pieces of information.
Even when the helicopter landed on the flowerbed that He Shu liked the most at the Western Hills Villa, she still couldn’t put together a complete side of the Rubik’s Cube.
Nie Wenyu opened her eyes. She must have overlooked a very important point, like the first step of solving a Rubik’s Cube.
Once she had this first step, the rest would be smooth.
The cabin door opened, and her black combat boots stepped down onto the landing pad. Nie Wenyu looked at the luxurious villa in the distance. Her intuition told her that the owner of this villa was the key step.
She walked toward the house, thinking that she still needed to check on her poor little darling first.
Why hadn’t she replied to any of her many messages?
What Nie Wenyu didn’t know was that Cen Qianyi had taken apart the phone she had given her last night after discovering that it had a built-in tracking program and a virus to prevent it from being cracked.
She took it apart into very small pieces. The “corpse” was under the large mat in the pet room.
Nie Wenyu looked at the GPS location on her phone, confirmed the location, and then looked at the person who was blocking her in front of the villa. She put on a serious expression: “I’m here to see General He. I need her to cooperate with an investigation.”
“General He is not home.”
“Oh? Where did she go?”
He Shu also wanted to know where she was…
She looked at her feet, which were floating above the ground. Could she be dead?
Hadn’t she been told that one hundred thousand volts just sounded powerful and couldn’t kill a person?
He Shu looked around in a daze. Where was this? The world after death?
Why was everything so hazy, looking as if the PM2.5 was severely over the limit? She carefully walked forward. Or perhaps “floated” was a more appropriate word; her feet couldn’t touch the ground.
A door gradually appeared in front of her. He Shu hesitated for a moment and then opened it. A light came on, and He Shu quickly closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she was dumbfounded.
Wasn’t this the pet room?
He Shu looked at the familiar off-white wallpaper and the huge dog cage in the room, and she instantly confirmed the location.
A sound of crying came from the corner. He Shu turned her head and saw a trembling figure curled up in the corner. Based on the milky white hair, He Shu instantly confirmed that the small person was Cen Qianyi.
She buried her head in her knees, curled up tightly. The iron chains on her hands made a clinking sound as her body trembled. This sound, mixed with her intermittent sobs, filled the entire room.
He Shu was shocked. How could Cen Qianyi be here, and why was she crying?
Was she also dead?
He Shu quickly went up to her: “Hey, what’s wrong? Why are you here, too?”
Could she also have been electrocuted to death?
He Shu thought of Cen Qianyi’s hand that had tried to grab her before she was knocked out… The human body conducts electricity… Was the power of this one hundred thousand volts really that strong???
He Shu was dumbfounded. She looked at the person who was crying uncontrollably. If she had really been electrocuted to death like this… she really should cry… dying so unjustly…
“Um, I’m sorry. I didn’t expect this to happen either.”
The only response she got was the intermittent crying. He Shu frustratingly ran a hand through her hair, not knowing what to say.
Just then, with a “thump,” a door appeared behind her out of nowhere, and a person who looked almost exactly like her walked in!
“Little blind girl, are you awake?”
When He Shu heard this, her heart sank. Then, she saw Cen Qianyi in the corner timidly lift her head. Her face was covered in tears, and her unfocused eyes were filled with terror: “Where is this?”
“A fun place. I guarantee you’ll like it.”
He Shu watched the person who looked a lot like her approach with a smile, looking down at the person in the corner, and she shook the cloth in her hand.
“I carefully picked out a piece of clothing for you. Do you like it?”
He Shu’s brow twitched. What was going on? These words sounded so familiar… Wasn’t this the plot she had gone through?
But it also seemed a little different. She looked at the person in the corner who was trying to press herself against the wall when she heard this… Cen Qianyi was never this scared, and she never cried like this…
He Shu understood. She was dreaming!
She was actually dreaming about the plot she had gone through, but the details were a little different. Looking at the “He Shu” who was roughly tearing off the person’s clothes, this looked more like the original owner from the book.
It was too much. Even though she knew it was just a dream, He Shu couldn’t watch anymore. She rushed forward, wanting to push the person away, but she passed right through her body.
Damn it!
He Shu punched herself hard. It didn’t hurt. Listening to the incomparably miserable crying, He Shu really wanted to wake up. She couldn’t take it anymore. She covered her ears forcefully, trying not to look at the situation in the corner.
How could she have such a dream? She had dreamed of Cen Qianyi as being too useless, only knowing how to cry. He Shu thought of her interactions with Cen Qianyi before she was electrocuted.
Could it be that to get revenge on her for making her cry, she was watching Cen Qianyi cry in her dream?
But she didn’t like to see people cry…
And Cen Qianyi’s crying was truly heartbreaking…
After an unknown amount of time, He Shu heard the sound of a door closing and felt that the crying had subsided a little. She cautiously turned around and saw that Cen Qianyi had been changed into a new outfit. The fabric of the clothes was pitifully small. She had to curl up to barely cover some important areas.
Looking at her hands, which were tightly clutching the corner of the clothing, she didn’t know what had happened just now, but her fingers seemed to be injured. Bl00d was oozing from under her fingernails, and it quickly stained a corner of the clothing.
She now looked like a wounded little animal, curled up tightly, her terrified eyes full of tears.
He Shu’s heart ached. Even though she knew it was just a dream, she couldn’t stand it. She wanted to take off her clothes and put them on her, but just as she was about to move, the door opened again.
A light flashed, and the room, which was dark a moment ago, suddenly looked like the morning before sunrise.
“Honey, are you awake?”
He Shu looked at the person who looked almost exactly like her and felt that the other person’s face was hateful. She couldn’t understand why she would dream of herself as such a pervert in her own dream!
“What’s wrong, honey? Still not fully awake?”
She watched “her” touch Cen Qianyi’s face, and she also watched Cen Qianyi’s face instantly turn pale with fear.
“Did you miss me last night?”
…
He Shu listened to “her” in the dream say the lines she had said during her “work” before. They were the same lines, and she had said them before, but she didn’t know if it was because the dream version of her had a deeper voice. As an observer, listening to it made her feel incredibly cold.
This feeling was even more perverted than reading the book, so perverted that she couldn’t take it anymore.
She wanted to wake up quickly. This was simply the most terrifying nightmare she had ever had.
He Shu even wondered if she was actually a dark person on the inside… Otherwise, how could she have such a dream? She looked at Cen Qianyi, who was so scared that she was about to faint… How could she dream of Cen Qianyi as such a pitiful little thing who had no ability to resist!
She was the number one assassin in the alliance. Her pitiful appearance in the book was an act. How could she really cry so miserably? Could it be that Cen Qianyi was also acting in her dream?
He Shu hoped this dream would end quickly. She believed it now, dreams were the opposite of reality!
Unfortunately, what came next was even more terrifying…
“Her” actions in the dream were completely based on the descriptions in the original story, and they were the most extreme kind. When she got angry, she would lash the person, leaving several cracks on her back…
In the end, she even led the person out like a dog… He Shu didn’t want to watch, but her body uncontrollably followed behind Cen Qianyi. She watched as she crawled along the path she had crawled, crawling past the gate, crawling past the garden, and crawling to the stone steps leading up the mountain…
Watching as the person’s knees were scraped raw, and the seeping bl00d fell into the dirt, and the dirt mixed into the wounds, making a messy black mess, He Shu’s chest felt like it was filled with a dense ball of this dirt mixed with Cen Qianyi’s bl00d. She found it hard to breathe.
The stone steps, which she had climbed twice and didn’t think were too many, seemed to have been extended by several hundred times under Cen Qianyi’s knees.
He Shu watched as with every step the person crawled, her heart sank a little…
Finally, after following Cen Qianyi to the top of the mountain, she watched the light of the rising sun fall on the winding stone steps, illuminating the clear bloodstains on them. The light in He Shu’s eyes also turned bloody, piercing her and making her ache.
She looked at the person on the ground, who looked like a dying dog, burying her head in the dirt. Even though the brilliant sunlight fell on her, it felt like bullying—it highlighted her shame and vulnerability.
He Shu’s heart was clenched tightly by a hand. She looked at the face that looked a lot like her but was so arrogant and unrestrained in the light. She rushed towards her recklessly.
Die!
She wanted to push the person directly off the mountain, but only she fell…
The feeling of weightlessness in her heart made it difficult for her to breathe. The moment she hit the ground, the sunlight disappeared, and a candle flame flickered in her eyes.
Miserable cries of pain pierced her eardrums.
He Shu didn’t know why she still wasn’t waking up, why this nightmare was lasting so long! Was it going to let her relive all the plots she had gone through?!
She looked at the person she had tried to push off the mountain but failed. She was holding a rose-shaped candle, and wax dripped down, one drop at a time. The back that caught them was so thin that the outlines of the bones were faintly visible.
No! Don’t!
He Shu knew how hot that candle was. She couldn’t even stand it, let alone Cen Qianyi. She reached out to catch it, but it was no use!
The wax went right through her hand and fell directly onto the trembling back.
A muffled cry of anguish and whimpering came from the gagged mouth. The pain was extreme, and the repression was also extreme!
No, don’t, don’t continue!
He Shu watched as the once fair back had no good skin left. She covered her chest, her tears gushing out. No, don’t continue!
Wake up, she wanted to wake up. She closed her eyes tightly, using all her strength to silently chant “wake up” in her heart, or to have the ability to change this nightmare!
But when she opened her eyes, she was still in the same room. This dream seemed to be repeating all the plots she had gone through. But in the next part of the plot, she unexpectedly saw a familiar face.
Pei Congxin came in with a medical kit, treated the wounds on Cen Qianyi’s back, and gave her a shot.
“I gave you a hemostatic shot. Don’t touch the wound. Sleep on your stomach tonight, and it won’t hurt tomorrow.”
He Shu was very confused as to why Pei Congxin appeared in her dream. Was it just because she was a doctor, and right now, she was desperately hoping for a doctor to save Cen Qianyi?
Cen Qianyi seemed to have the same thought as her. As if clutching at a last straw, she held onto the leg of Pei Congxin, who was about to leave.
“Doctor, doctor, please save me… please… please…”
Each plea was filled with a crying tone, sorrowful and pitiful. He Shu’s nose suddenly stung. The tears she had just stopped were about to fall again. She looked at Pei Congxin, and even though she knew the person couldn’t hear her, she yelled with all her might, save her!
Perhaps her strong inner voice had an effect on the dream. She actually saw Pei Congxin stop and squat down in front of Cen Qianyi.
She reached out, as if stroking an expensive work of art, wanting to touch but not daring, yet also longing to. She just cautiously touched her a little, making sure of her real existence.
In those greedy eyes, a dirty desire surged.
“Don’t worry. General He’s interest in a plaything doesn’t last long. When she’s tired of you, I’ll ask for you. Don’t worry, I’m much gentler than her. I definitely won’t play with you like this. Look at you, you’re so pitiful.”
She said this and reached out to wipe the tears falling from Cen Qianyi’s trembling eyes. Cen Qianyi turned her head away.
Her terrified eyes seemed to know that the person in front of her was not salvation but another kind of danger. She let go of the person and shrank back into the corner, pressing herself against the wall, completely disregarding whether the wounds on her back would split open again.
He Shu looked at Pei Congxin’s hateful face. Even though it was a dream, she couldn’t help but get emotional and felt that this person’s death was not unjust. It was a blessing from heaven!
Watching as the person took a step closer to Cen Qianyi, He Shu’s face turned red with anger. She spread her arms and stood in front of Cen Qianyi, but Pei Congxin went right through her body.
He Shu was frustrated. Why was she so useless in her own dream!
She turned around and looked at Cen Qianyi, who seemed to know that someone was approaching. She was whimpering, and tears were silently falling, as if she didn’t dare to cry out loud for fear of being discovered.
The scraped wounds on her back stained the wallpaper on the wall, and also stained He Shu’s eyes red.
“General He likes obedient playthings. If you’re obedient, you’ll suffer less.”
Pei Congxin put on a benevolent expression and gave her advice from above: “Don’t worry, General He hasn’t played anyone to death yet. She would be even more reluctant to part with a beautiful plaything like you. Just cooperate well, and when she’s tired of you, you’ll be free.”
Large, heavy tears fell from Cen Qianyi’s unfocused eyes. The despair in her eyes made these tears feel like blades.
They stabbed into He Shu’s heart, making her twitch in pain, making it hard for her to breathe, and making her want to tear this nightmare apart with her bare hands!
The pain was so great that she suddenly opened her eyes!
In her vision, a pair of pale purple eyes blinked softly. There was a hint of surprise in the calm gaze.
He Shu’s red eyes were also full of surprise. Cen Qianyi, it was Cen Qianyi! She looked at the person’s eyes, which had no pain or despair, and she lunged forward to hug her.
“Wuwuwu, Cen Qianyi, Cen Qianyi…”
She called the person’s name over and over again, but she didn’t know what to say. Her throat was choked with that bloody dirt, and it was fishy and bitter. In the end, she could only force out a single sentence.
“Cen Qianyi… don’t be scared… it’s okay, it’s okay…” She wanted to say that she would definitely find a way to break this nightmare!
Cen Qianyi was a little out of breath from being hugged so tightly. Her brow furrowed. What was this person doing? Don’t be scared of what? What was “it’s okay”?
“Boss, what’s wrong?”
A familiar voice came from behind her. He Shu’s crying stopped, and then she realized something was wrong. How could she hug Cen Qianyi?
The person was warm. She reached out and pinched her face. It was soft and very real.
Cen Qianyi’s eyes trembled from the pinch.
“Pinch me.”
When she heard this strange request, Cen Qianyi didn’t know what she was going to do, but she remembered the time she had pinched her own thigh.
She raised her hand and pinched her back.
“Hiss, that hurts!”
Even though it hurt, He Shu was happy and wanted to cry. Her nightmare was finally over! She was awake!
He Shu saved her face from Cen Qianyi’s hand, wiped away her tears forcefully, and looked at the perfectly fine Cen Qianyi in front of her, confirming that everything she had just experienced was indeed a nightmare.
But the dream had lasted so long, and the painful time felt especially long. It was as if she had lived a whole lifetime, and looking at Cen Qianyi also gave her a feeling of being in a different world.
Cen Qianyi looked at the person who was silently shedding tears in front of her… Did her pinch hurt that much?
He Shu wiped her tears forcefully and realized that she was now lying on a bed. The nightmare had been so long that she was a little confused about where she was. She quickly got up. With just one look, she remembered that this was the break room in her office.
Someone seemed to have called her just now. She turned around to look at where the voice had come from. Su Ming was standing by the bed with a worried expression, and beside her was Tu Xuan, who had a serious and vigilant expression and was holding a cigar in her hand.
A cigar?
He Shu looked at the object and remembered everything that had happened before she was knocked out and had the nightmare!
She quickly turned to look at Cen Qianyi. This person actually hadn’t altered her memory.
Cen Qianyi watched as the person looked at her with a look of shock. She raised an eyebrow. What was wrong with this person?
Su Ming was even more worried: “Boss, are you feeling unwell?”
She said this and turned to Tu Xuan: “Please ask the doctor to come again.”
Tu Xuan turned to leave. He Shu called out to her: “I’m fine!”
She just needed a moment to calm down. The nightmare was too real. She was back, but her soul was still a little shaken. She looked at Cen Qianyi, and her emotions were a little complex.
Even though she knew that dreams were the opposite of reality and that Cen Qianyi couldn’t possibly be that pitiful, the emotions she had released were a little hard to retract. She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes and took a deep breath.
At the same time, she remembered something important!
It was what she was worried about before she was electrocuted. She looked at Cen Qianyi’s hand. The “rabbit fur tail” wasn’t there. She quickly clenched her butt and felt it. It didn’t feel like there was anything out of the ordinary…
But she wasn’t very sure. He Shu lifted the blanket, moved her butt to the edge of the bed, and after confirming that her butt was flat, she breathed a sigh of relief!
She hadn’t grown a tail!
She sat on the edge of the bed, looked at the shoes on the floor, and slid her feet into them. After putting them on, she looked at Su Ming: “What happened?”
Her question was a bit vague, but Su Ming immediately responded, explaining what happened after He Shu was knocked out.
It was Tu Xuan who heard the scream and rushed into the break room first. At first, she thought Cen Qianyi had done something, so she immediately handcuffed her, but later she checked and found that the person had been electrocuted.
She also found the cigar-shaped stun baton in her pocket.
When Su Ming mentioned the stun baton, Tu Xuan opened her hand, showing He Shu the object in her hand. Su Ming used the object to ask: “Boss, were you electrocuted by this thing?”
Su Ming said this and also glanced at Cen Qianyi on the bed. She hadn’t completely ruled out this person as a suspect.
He Shu noticed her look. Even though it was embarrassing, to avoid any misunderstandings, she admitted it decisively.
“I accidentally pressed the button.”
With her single sentence, the three people in the room had different thoughts.
Su Ming was thinking, this thing is dangerous. Who gave it to the boss?
Normally, if He Shu needed anything, she would be the one to get it. This was the first time she had seen this thing… Was someone deliberately giving her a dangerous object to harm the boss? Worried about the boss’s safety, she asked this question directly.
He Shu’s heart skipped a beat. The origin of this object was a little hard to explain, but a flash of light quickly passed through her eyes: “Pei Congxin gave it to me.”
Su Ming suddenly realized. This was very logical. Thinking of Pei Congxin, she cursed in her heart and asked, “What should we do with this thing?”
He Shu reached out her hand. Tu Xuan handed the object to her. She was thinking that this thing was really good. She had originally wanted to ask where she could buy one, but hearing that it was given to her by Pei Congxin, she reluctantly gave up the idea. The person was already dead.
Cen Qianyi looked at the unique-looking stun baton that was now back in He Shu’s hand. She thought about what she had just said, that it was an accident… If it wasn’t an accident that she had this thing in her pocket, what was she originally planning to do with it?
Electrocute her?
He Shu felt a very noticeable gaze on her back. She slowly turned around and saw that Cen Qianyi’s hands were handcuffed.
“What’s going on with this?”
Looking at the handcuffs, the scenes from her nightmare started to reappear, and her heart began to beat erratically again.
Tu Xuan explained that they had suspected Cen Qianyi had harmed He Shu.
He Shu told them to quickly uncuff her.
But just as Tu Xuan was about to move, a sudden alarm sounded from outside the office and into the break room. She immediately opened the door and flashed out. Su Ming followed her a step behind.
Soon, the two of them came back.
“Boss, there are bombs in the building. There were multiple explosions, and a fire has started. We need to get out of this building quickly!”
She said this and tried to pull He Shu to run!
He Shu quickly pulled her hand back and turned to pull Cen Qianyi: “Hurry, uncuff her!”
Tu Xuan didn’t dare to delay and quickly went to uncuff her.
He Shu saw that the person was free, and she lifted her onto her back and ran out.
Su Ming’s movements paused for a moment. Tu Xuan saw her and grabbed her hand, pulling her to run.
People were running away in chaos everywhere. He Shu almost suspected that this was a new nightmare. How could there be a bomb?!
“Boom!” With another loud bang, the ceiling trembled, and the glass from the windows shattered and fell.
He Shu didn’t dare to stop for a second. She carried the person on her back and ran into the fire escape, weaving through the stampeding crowd, heading straight down.
Cen Qianyi was a little dizzy from being jostled around.
What was wrong with this person? Why was she carrying her and running? Thinking about the look of genuine anxiety in her eyes just now, Cen Qianyi’s pale purple eyes became much deeper. There was also a hint of confusion in her eyes. Why did this person seem so worried about her?
After carrying the person and running for more than ten floors, He Shu’s speed slowed down. Tu Xuan, who was following behind, looked at the perfectly fine Su Ming, let go of her hand, and sped up, running to He Shu’s side.
“General He, why don’t I take over?”
He Shu was confused for a moment and then realized that the person was offering to carry the burden for her. That would be good… she really couldn’t carry her anymore.
But the hands around her neck suddenly loosened.
Cen Qianyi held onto He Shu’s neck tightly, not letting go, with an expression of panic and fear.
He Shu was slightly taken aback… If He Shu hadn’t had that dream just now, she would have immediately realized that the person was acting.
But now, she had mixed reality with the dream. It was the same in the room just now. She could have easily let the person put on her shoes and run with her, but her mind was filled with the image of the other person’s injured knees, unable to run.
“No need.”
He Shu refused Tu Xuan, but she also didn’t continue to carry the person and run. She really couldn’t carry her anymore… She changed to carrying her on her back and continued to run down.
Cen Qianyi’s hands were clasped over He Shu’s chest. She held onto the person tightly to reduce the shaking. Listening to the person’s increasingly heavy breathing underneath her, she raised an eyebrow. Was this person an amnesiac from being electrocuted?
The bodyguard had rushed in too quickly back then. She had just confirmed that the person was fine and didn’t even have time to alter her memory. This person should remember what happened between them before she fainted…
She looked at He Shu’s side profile, which seemed to be clenched with determination. Why was this person still trying to save her? Come to think of it, this was the second time she had run away with her.
Every time was so unexpected…
He Shu was probably so stimulated by her powerlessness in the dream that she had now completely surpassed her physical limits. She ran out of the building with the person on her back without stopping for a single breath.
After running to a safe place by the side of the road where people were gathering, He Shu put the person down and then collapsed onto the ground as if her spine had been pulled out.
She was breathing heavily, and a feeling of nausea constantly surged up. There also seemed to be a metallic taste of bl00d in her chest. She lay there, wanting to throw up but couldn’t.
Cen Qianyi looked down at the person. This person was really, even better than she had imagined…
After confirming that the person was just tired but not dying, Cen Qianyi looked at the police cars that were constantly arriving in the distance.
Looking at the police tape that was put up, Cen Qianyi frowned and looked up at the building in the distance. The explosions were still ongoing, and glass would occasionally be shaken loose.
She had just asked someone to deliver something, and she had caused such a big commotion…
There was some displeasure in her eyes. She had to deduct the building’s repair costs from the payment.
He Shu didn’t know that someone was calculating the damage to her office building. She looked at Cen Qianyi’s feet on the ground. She wasn’t wearing shoes, and a large area of her white sock was dirty…
That patch of dirt gradually changed color in He Shu’s red eyes from running. She remembered Cen Qianyi’s bloody legs in her dream, and her heart ached suddenly.
She breathed heavily and supported herself with her hands, trying to sit up.
Cen Qianyi felt a wave of heat on her ankle. She looked down and saw He Shu carefully holding her ankle and lifting her foot.
A pair of dark brown, thin-soled leather shoes appeared under her foot.
Cen Qianyi’s expression froze. Out of surprise, she forgot to stop her and just watched as He Shu put on her shoe for her.
It didn’t fit. It was a little big.
It carried the other person’s body temperature and was a little warm.
