The Domineering CEO, but a Crybaby! - Chapter 51
Chapter 51: Open the Door and See
◎Outside the door, it was still Cen Qianyi!◎
The dim underground room was sealed tight, the air thick with a foul stench.
He Shu covered her nose and mouth with her arm, peering at the two people lying on the ground under the faint light.
Carefully, she nudged each of them with her foot, confirming they were both unconscious before letting out a breath of relief.
At the same time, she found herself slowly adapting to the smell and lowered her hand to her chest.
She had been seriously startled earlier—her heart was still racing. Glancing at the electric baton in her hand, she felt lucky she had something like a cheat item.
It was fortunate she reacted quickly. The moment she realized she was falling, she’d sensed danger and promptly grabbed the “100,000 Volts” baton from her inventory.
He Shu stepped closer to examine the two she’d taken down. The faces were unfamiliar—she definitely didn’t know them.
The moment she hit the ground, they had rushed toward her. It was obvious they’d been lying in wait.
Looking at their clothes—black long sleeves, black pants, no logos or markings—they weren’t dressed like any staff member on the island.
Then her gaze fell on their black gloves… Wearing all black could still be brushed off as a personal preference, but those gloves? It screamed bad intentions.
She didn’t know what they had planned—she’d been too nervous. As soon as they approached, she zapped them both.
She couldn’t be blamed. She glanced up at the ceiling—though it wasn’t far overhead, falling from that height, she was lucky not to have broken anything.
When she landed, the pain was blinding, and she couldn’t even stand. Only after taking them down did she manage to recover and get up.
Now, seeing their outfits clearly, she was glad she hadn’t hesitated to attack. And thankfully, the “100,000 Volts” device worked perfectly. These people were definitely up to no good!
He Shu stepped in closer again. She’d tested the baton on herself before and knew it would take a while before anyone woke up from a shock like that. As she drew near, she saw one of them clutching something in their hand.
She gently nudged the fingers open with her foot, and the object rolled free.
It was a syringe—the kind commonly used in hospitals.
Were they going to inject her with something?
What was in it?
She checked the other person’s hands, which were empty.
So between the two of them, only one syringe. She figured it out quickly: one would hold her down, and the other would inject her.
If they went to all this trouble, it clearly wasn’t just saline.
At first, she’d suspected Cen Qianyi might’ve been behind this, trying to kill her. But after falling and seeing these two strangers, she ruled that out.
Cen Qianyi was a lone wolf—no subordinates, no accomplices. She would never bring help.
Eliminating Cen Qianyi left only one possibility—Yao Bing, the island’s host, who could’ve arranged something like this in such a short time.
She still didn’t know Yao Bing’s ultimate goal.
She’d have to analyze the liquid later to find out.
He Shu scanned the area and spotted a discarded needle cap in the corner.
One hand still gripping the “100,000 Volts,” the other holding the “rabbit fur tail” explosive, she hesitated, then pocketed the explosive.
In a small, enclosed space like this, setting off a bomb would be suicide.
Freeing up her hand, she was about to pick up the cap but paused, then walked back over to the unconscious person and stripped off a pair of black rubber gloves, slipping them on before retrieving the needle cap.
Then she picked up the syringe and carefully capped it. Walking over to the only dim lightbulb in the room, she examined the liquid inside.
Up close, it wasn’t fully transparent—it had a faint blue tint.
There was no way to tell what it was. She’d ask Su Zhi to analyze it once they got out.
She tucked it safely into her pocket and resumed searching the room.
She had to find a way out.
Feeling along the walls, she soon found a hidden door.
It felt surreal. He Shu stared at the now-open door—what was this, an escape room?
Was someone going to be waiting outside in black clothes too?
Her nerves were fraying. She gripped her weapon, torn between staying put or stepping out.
Each option had its risks. But she remembered that she had entered this area with Ye Qi and Officer Judy—those two would soon notice she was missing.
They’d definitely come looking. If she stayed, she might be found faster.
But… she looked up at the ceiling. The trapdoor had closed tight, and she couldn’t hear anything from above. She wasn’t sure if Judy and Ye Qi had made it out safely.
And what about Ran Anni, who had entered the security check with her but had been sent to a different black room?
If she’d also fallen, she might be in the next room. And without a weapon, she’d be in serious danger.
He Shu thought it over and decided to go check things out.
Outside was a dark hallway, no lights. The only illumination came from the bulb behind her.
Ahead, everything was pitch black. It looked like a quiet abyss, utterly silent. Who knew what lay at the end? A person would be okay—but what if there was a massive snake waiting with its tongue flicking, jaws open?
She shuddered at the thought and smacked her forehead, forcing herself to stop imagining things.
Taking a deep breath, she moved her foot cautiously, paused to listen—no sound.
Then she stepped forward.
And then stepped back.
Thinking it over, she went back to the two on the ground and gave each of them another shock.
She didn’t know what lay ahead, but she sure didn’t want trouble coming from behind too.
She quickly searched them again for any light sources but found nothing.
Another deep breath. This time, He Shu walked into the darkness without looking back.
…
Meanwhile, under the cover of night, a helicopter slowly departed from Yi Wang Island.
Cen Qianyi stared down at the shrinking buildings below until they disappeared, before finally looking away.
Half an hour later, the helicopter landed at its destination, and she followed Yao Bing onto a waiting private jet.
Once airborne, Yao Bing smiled at her.
“We’ll arrive at Keze Grassland before dawn. You can sleep on the way—when you wake, you’ll be having breakfast on the grassland. I promise what’s coming will be unforgettable.”
Cen Qianyi kept her gaze lowered and nodded obediently, seeming to follow orders perfectly.
Yao Bing was in a good mood and left her to wait in a room while she handled some matters.
Cen Qianyi entered obediently, checked for surveillance, then sat silently on the bed, fingers brushing the mark on her wrist.
A deep red imprint left behind by a diamond bracelet He Shu had once given her—pressed in so hard it hadn’t faded, and she’d traced it with her nails, deepening the color.
She stared at it, thinking… He Shu had probably contacted her assistant by now.
Cen Qianyi had tampered with her phone a bit, but He Shu wasn’t stupid—she’d likely thought to borrow someone else’s. There were people she knew here.
Like Nie Wenyu. And that woman Ye Qi. Whatever her personal feelings, they were both capable.
They’d want to leave the island too—He Shu would likely stick with them.
With them around, she would be safe.
That was why Cen Qianyi had dared to leave.
She remembered He Shu’s face as they parted, like she had a lot she wanted to say.
And truthfully… Cen Qianyi wanted to hear it.
She was curious. In that moment, what had He Shu wanted to tell her?
Unfortunately, the timing hadn’t been right.
Next time they met, she would ask.
She wondered what He Shu was doing now. Was she, perhaps, thinking of her too…
…
He Shu’s mind went completely blank. She never expected someone to suddenly appear behind her.
Right when she was about to find the exit.
“Hands up. Make a sound and I’ll kill you.”
A cold voice spoke behind her. He Shu tried to inch forward, putting distance between her and the gun at her back.
“Keep your hands up. You—go take what she’s holding.”
Hearing that, her heart sank. It was clear the second sentence wasn’t directed at her. There were two of them—too much for her to handle at once.
From the shadows, Su Zhi emerged and approached.
Under the faint light, she froze in shock.
“Boss?!”
Hearing Su Zhi call her that, He Shu used to feel like a CEO in a cool novel. But now, in this dire situation, it almost made her cry. It was like being hurled from hell into heaven.
“Su Zhi!”
She rushed forward and hugged her tightly. “It’s really you!”
Su Zhi was just as shocked—they had come into the underground bunker to find He Shu, and here she was!
“Boss, how did you end up in the basement?”
He Shu was supposed to be a VIP on this island—how did she get thrown in here?
Tu Xuan, now certain it really was her boss, finally lowered her weapon.
Both sides quickly exchanged their stories.
When He Shu heard that Su Zhi had risked her life to sneak onto the island to find her, she was so touched she promised to double her salary.
Su Zhi, hearing what the island had done to her boss, was so furious she wanted to blow the whole place up.
“Boss, don’t worry. Once we’re back, I’ll—”
He Shu cut her off, “Let’s just leave first. We need to get out of here—now.”
Those two she stunned might be discovered soon. Who knew how many more would come? Or what they’d do?
Su Zhi and Tu Xuan nodded firmly. They had come here for He Shu—now that she was found, they had to get her out.
But just as the three turned to head for the exit, footsteps echoed from the tunnel behind them.
Tu Xuan instantly motioned for Su Zhi to hide He Shu in the shadows, while she scaled up the wall again.
That explained how someone had suddenly appeared behind He Shu earlier—Tu Xuan had dropped down from above. Impressive.
Two sets of footsteps approached.
Could it be the two she electrocuted?
No way. They couldn’t have woken up so fast.
But if it was them, that’d be easy—they had no weapons.
As the footsteps neared, Tu Xuan dropped down again, taking out the second person. Su Zhi aimed her gun at the one already in the light.
He Shu’s eyes widened. “Stop! Friendly!”
But her warning came too late. Ye Qi had already struck, only to be kicked hard by Tu Xuan into the wall, then collapsed to the floor.
He Shu rushed over. “Ye Qi! Are you okay?”
Tu Xuan hurried over too—though she hadn’t been able to stop the kick in time, she had reduced its force. Thankfully, no ribs were broken.
Ye Qi looked up, eyes tearing from the pain. “Shu-jie?”
“It’s me!” He Shu’s voice was loud with relief.
Su Zhi emerged from the shadows, surprised: “Officer Judy?”
Ran Anni gasped. A cop?
Nie Wenyu put down the person on her back and examined He Shu, puzzled by the situation.
They had assumed something terrible had happened to He Shu. But now it looked like she was running the show—her assistant and bodyguard were both here.
Ran Anni burst into tears and hugged He Shu. “He President, thank god you’re okay… I was so scared…”
He Shu was surprised to see her. She’d expected Ye Qi and Judy to come for her, but not this one too.
Turns out, Judy had been carrying her. Before He Shu could ask, Ran Anni explained—she’d hurt her ankle trying to find her.
He Shu looked down. Her ankles were swollen and red. Her shoes were a pair of high heels—with broken heels.
She must’ve fallen and snapped them.
He Shu winced. This was why she always said high heels were death traps in emergencies.
That thought led her to Cen Qianyi.
The shoes she’d prepared for He Shu to wear to the island were all flats—easier to run in.
She wondered how Cen Qianyi was doing now.
She was strong… hopefully she was okay.
They began exchanging stories.
Ye Qi and the others had discovered something was off at the security checkpoint after He Shu vanished. While investigating, they too fell through a trap—thankfully, there were two bodies to cushion their fall.
Ran Anni had come down later, accidentally, after losing her balance in those heels.
She was a bit embarrassed about it, but in the end, she was glad she had fallen—He Shu really had been down here.
She felt a strong bond now—like they’d all been through something together.
She really wanted to pour out her fear and say it had been worth it to injure herself in order to find her.
But He Shu didn’t give her a chance.
After thanking everyone, she explained what had happened and pulled out the syringe filled with unknown liquid.
Nie Wenyu couldn’t identify it by sight. “Give it to me. I’ll take it back for lab analysis.”
He Shu handed it over.
Ye Qi stood up and looked at Tu Xuan—not with anger, but admiration. “Impressive. Let’s spar sometime. I was careless earlier.”
“Save it,” Nie Wenyu cut her off. She knew how troublesome Ye Qi’s competitiveness could be.
He Shu nodded. “Right. Let’s get off this island first.”
Su Zhi responded instantly—they had to leave, now.
She and Tu Xuan led the group back the way they’d come, toward the boat pickup point.
Oddly, they didn’t encounter any patrols on the way out, even though there had been some earlier.
Not until they were almost at the dock did a few guards appear—and were quickly taken down by Ye Qi and Tu Xuan.
Gunshots might’ve drawn attention. As they boarded, bright lights flared—more people were charging toward them.
In a critical moment, He Shu pulled out the explosive Cen Qianyi had left her and yanked the rabbit-fur tail.
Smoke and fire burst into the air, blinding their pursuers and allowing the group to escape Yi Wang Island safely.
Clutching the rabbit fur in her hand, He Shu felt her heart pounding violently.
She’d just… thrown a bomb.
The feeling—she couldn’t even describe it.
It was definitely more intense than tossing firecrackers as a kid.
Once aboard, she lay flat on the deck, gulping in air, her hand soaked with sweat.
“How did you end up with a bomb?” Officer Judy’s face was stern.
But before He Shu could answer, Su Zhi snapped back, “Officer Judy, please remember—our boss is not your suspect. We’re not at liberty to answer that.”
He Shu mentally applauded her. She didn’t want to answer either.
She couldn’t exactly say Cen Qianyi gave it to her…
The yacht sped away, but just as the island was vanishing from sight, Ye Qi suddenly cried out.
“Look! What’s happening on the island?”
Everyone turned to look. He Shu sat up.
From afar, the small patch of island now blazed with fire. Even at this distance, explosions could be faintly heard.
What happened?
He Shu’s pupils contracted. Who blew up the island?
A name popped into her head—Cen Qianyi.
No way… wasn’t her only target Yao Bing?
But looking at the smoke rising with the flames, He Shu’s brow furrowed deeply.
Could it be that being auctioned off tonight had made her so furious that only blowing up the entire island could calm her rage?
She stared at the thick, curling smoke.
Where was she now? Was she still… alive?
