- Chapter 56 - Fierce Battle in the Insect Sea
“Ah, this is interesting.”
Seeing this commotion, Su Mu was less afraid.
These Zerg are no longer the low-intelligence, disgusting creatures that only crawl over themselves; they are true enemies now.
“Qin, go back and help them defend. I’ll go kill the Empress!”
Su Mu leaped into the swarm, wielding the Abyss Bl00d Blade and slaughtering with abandon.
Anyone who stood in the way—whether a Level 2 grunt or a Level 4 elite—was instantly crushed under Su Mu’s ruthless iron claws.
As for the fear within?
What the eyes see is decided by Su Mu himself!
A wisp of bl00d mist covered his eyes, the world was shrouded in a deep red filter, and the terrifying insect-like creatures in front of him had already blurred into dark shadows.
What Su Mu had to do was simply use the power of the vampire clan to lock onto the scent of the Bombardier Beetle and then move forward and kill.
“Ah, there you are.”
Cleaving through everything in his path, Su Mu quickly arrived in front of the Bombardier Beetle.
The Bombardier Beetle is not afraid; after the apocalypse, it has been crawling and fighting underground, slaughtering countless insectoids and mutated beasts.
At this moment, it has already evolved to have an exoskeleton as hard as stone, possessing the strength to flip cars.
Feeling the signal waves from the tower, it had encountered humans on its way here.
Compared to the firearms and ammunition in their hands, human psychics are not frightening at all.
Unlike the strong and robust mutated beasts, human psychics, although they possess many strange and peculiar psychic abilities, are not physically very strong.
Most psychics rely on spells like ice, fire, and lightning; even those who enhance their physical abilities need to use weapons to unleash their full potential.
The Bombardier Beetle is already at peak Level 5, possessing physical speed far beyond that of a human.
Dealing with long-range psychics, it might still be a bit lacking, but facing someone like Su Mu who charges straight ahead…
Relying on absolute speed, he could grab her head and give it a gentle twist before the human psychic could draw her sword, and she would be dead.
Although I don’t know what kind of divine artifact Su Mu that has can completely shred his subordinates, the principle is the same.
Even if Su Mu’s hand has the power to reach the heavens, being separated from her body would still allow her to ascend directly to the heavens!
Thinking of this, the beetle confidently raised its strong forelimbs and reached out towards Su Mu.
“Little bug, you’re too slow.”
Su Mu waved his hand, and his fingers instantly transformed into five sharp blades, severing half of the beetle’s forelimb in an instant.
Before the Bombardier Beetle could react, Su Mu forcefully pushed off the ground with his left foot and performed a backflip in place, empowered by the bloodline’s strength.
The Abyss Bl00d Blade concealed within the skin, coursed through the muscles and bl00d to the right foot, and then directly kicked into the giant beetle’s massive head.
This kick was so powerful that the Bombardier beetle’s jaw and half of its head were directly shattered.
As the beetle fell to the ground, chunks of foul-smelling flesh and mucus gushed down, covering Su Mu completely.
“Ugh… so disgusting.”
Smelling this odor, Su Mu almost vomited the food he had eaten before the apocalypse and quickly used his vampire powers to seal his nostrils.
“You disgust guy, you really aren’t a queen.”
Looking at the shattered remains of the Bombardier Beetle and then glancing at the Zerg advancing towards the school, Su Mu couldn’t help but feel a bit dejected.
The swarm remains orderly, proving that the queen bee is still alive, secretly controlling everything.
Perhaps, unlike the mutated beasts, the swarm does not follow the strongest as its leader; the Queen has her own insects.
Perhaps the real empress is hiding underground, in a safe zone.
Perhaps, the queen is using her wicked compound eyes to observe Su Mu slaughtering her subjects, preparing to take revenge at the right moment.
“Timid Zerg Queen, your Bloodline Princess has personally come to the battlefield, where are you?”
Su M was afraid that he wouldn’t stand out enough among the swarm, so he unleashed waves of vampire power, sending the lower-level bugs around him tumbling in all directions.
It was unclear whether the Queen heard Su Mu’s provocation or if the surrounding swarm sensed a threat, but the originally orderly formation advancing towards the school split off some of its forces.
The insect swarm around Su Mu, along with some insects that have long-range poison mist attacks, rushed towards her.
“Ah le ah le, foolish empress, do you think these minions can hurt me?”
A hint of bl00d red appeared again in Su Mu’s eyes as he wielded the Abyss Bl00d Blade and began to slaughter.
With the battle armor on and most of the poison fog dispelled, relying on a low-level swarm of insects to kill Su Mu is not realistic.
The more minions that come, the more Su Mu kills. The more he kills, the more energy he can extract using the power of the bl00d clan.
Bl00d mist pillars connected the insect swarm to Su Mu, and the low-level insect swarm had practically become her growth experience pack.
Unless you exhaust Su Mu’s stamina, she is invincible.
But… can it… exhaust the stamina of a Starry Sky-level psionic?
Easier said than done!
Su Mu was happily grinding for coins in the game behind the swarm, but the atmosphere on campus had already reached a breaking point.
“Hurry up!”
The swarm was almost upon them, and Qin Anna and Wang Xin urged the newly arrived psychics to form ranks at the school gate to confront the enemy.
With the residual barrier protection and Liu Rui’s enhancements, there’s no need to worry about the swarm breaking through the walls directly.
The only weak point is the base gate.
Originally, the Normal University Affiliated High School had no gates capable of defending against enemies, only a few fences separating the outside world from the campus.
The existing door is temporarily built with steel plates and cannot withstand an onslaught like this from a swarm.
Even with Jiang Yiqin around, the psychics on campus couldn’t handle so many bugs at once.
Blocking the main entrance is the best way to fend off the swarm.
The biggest problem is fear.
Under Qinna’s command, the White Feather knights stood in the front row, followed by melee psionics, and then ranged psionics.
Even so, when seeing those disgusting bugs that are already as tall as a person or even taller, most people would still be scared.
In an array, pulling one hair can move the whole body.
If a small number of people retreat out of fear, those nearby can only retreat as well.
Although there were no casualties among humans, the swarm was pushing the human front line back step by step without losing a single soldier.
“Hey, you guys, don’t retreat!”
Wang Xin was holding down a Level 4 insectoid, while the psionics in her team were so intimidated by the remaining Level 2 that they kept backing away.
To avoid being surrounded by the swarm, Wang Xin had no choice but to retreat, and the bugs that were supposed to be killed managed to escape back into the swarm.
Wang Xin was so furious that she felt like whipping them.
“I’m right here, what are you all so afraid of?!”
Wang Xin was swinging her twin whips to clear out the insect soldiers while grumbling in dissatisfaction.
“We’re afraid…”
A Level 3 girl with close-combat psionic abilities, wielding an explosion-proof shield and a longsword, dared only to hide behind Wang Xin.
From her perspective, exterminating those insectoids would be a piece of cake!
“Scared, scared, scared! If I die, I won’t be scared anymore!”
“Get lost, get lost, get lost! If you’re scared, go back! Don’t block my view!”
Wang Xin shouted angrily.
Since you’re so scared, why stay here and just cause trouble!
