- Chapter 76 - Joint Operation
“Su Mu, watch out!”
Just as Su Mu was stepping on Gu Xiaoran, savoring the taste of his bl00d, Chen Mo suddenly shouted.
“Huh? What now…?”
At that moment, Su Mu felt a strange movement under her feet. She quickly looked down.
Gu Xiaoran, who had been beaten half to death, suddenly injected himself with a syringe into his thigh.
His muscles visibly swelled, and the wound on his severed arm began to heal at an incredible speed.
Race: Abyss Troll
Energy Type: Class A, Troll’s Strength
Energy Level: Lv.7, Starlight Tier 2 (99%)
“Rainbow freak, what are you doing?!”
Seeing that even Gu Xiaoran’s race had changed, Su Mu immediately summoned her vampire powers and slashed with her Abyss Bl00d Blade to finish him off.
Boom—!
A sudden blast of mixed elemental energy hit her head-on. Caught off guard, Su Mu was blasted far away.
Chen Mo, Wang Xin, and Chen Xiaojing rushed forward, trying to catch her, but they didn’t make it in time.
“Ahhh! That hurts, that hurts!”
Su Mu flipped a few times in midair before crashing to the ground. She quickly retreated a couple of steps to put some distance between herself and Gu Xiaoran.
Moments later, Gu Xiaoran stood up from the ground.
“Your Highness, is this guy…”
“Too tall?”
Qin Anna looked at Gu Xiaoran, then glanced at Wang Xin beside her.
Wang Xin was about 155 centimeters tall.
Gu Xiaoran? Easily more than twice her height!
Even the Level 5 Insect King they saw before wasn’t this massive.
And to think… he used to be human!
“Hey! Angel! Just ’cause he’s tall doesn’t mean you need to look at me like that!”
Wang Xin shouted in annoyance.
“Hey, Momo, Gu Xiaoran looks even bigger than that two-headed troll we ran into that night…”
Su Mu muttered.
“You mean the night you slept commando?”
Chen Mo teased, gently brushing the dust out of Su Mu’s hair.
“You… slept what?!”
“Momo, you’ve become a bad boy!”
“You were too tired yesterday. I’m definitely punishing you tonight!”
Su Mu pouted and playfully threatened him, the two of them goofing around and play-wrestling.
“Are you two…”
“A little too full of yourselves?!”
Gu Xiaoran roared, grabbing a rock from the ground and hurling it at Su Mu.
Just as Su Mu was about to summon her bat wings, Jiang Yiqin beat her to the punch and fired a coin.
A streak of light flashed—the rock exploded midair into pieces.
“Su Mu, leave this to me.”
“Chen Xiaojing, it’s showtime!”
Jiang Yiqin smiled and stepped between Gu Xiaoran and the couple. Chen Xiaojing teleported in right beside her.
Su Mu originally wanted to join in, but then thought better of it. This was a good chance for Jiang Yiqin to get some real combat experience.
In terms of power levels in Lin’an City right now, whether they were mutated beasts or humans, almost none could stand up to Jiang Yiqin.
A strong enemy like Gu Xiaoran didn’t come along often. It was a good chance for Yiqin and Xiaojing to work on their teamwork.
Besides…
If she could chill with Momo instead of fighting, who’d choose a fight?
Thinking this, Su Mu gave a nod and let the two girls take over. She then blinked away and clung to Chen Mo.
Meanwhile, Gu Xiaoran was about ready to explode.
He had given up his humanity, and this arrogant Su Mu was just going to sit there and watch?!
Fine, fine, fine!
Then he’d kill her subordinates right in front of her!
Whoosh—!
Before Gu Xiaoran could even make a move, another coin shot straight at his forehead.
“Arrogant brat!”
Boom!
Gu Xiaoran swung his fist, now wrapped in crackling electromagnetic energy, and smashed the coin aside with raw power.
“Huh?!”
Chen Xiaojing was stunned.
That coin—Jiang Yiqin’s signature railgun shot—even Su Mu had to block it with her Abyss Bl00d Blade.
And Gu Xiaoran had just… batted it away?
“Interesting.”
Jiang Yiqin grinned. She actually liked opponents who were a bit of a challenge.
More coins floated into the air, electric sparks dancing around her.
“Chen Xiaojing, start teleporting around him randomly!”
“Got it, Big Sis!”
Chen Xiaojing activated her spatial powers, and they vanished.
Whoosh!
They reappeared behind Gu Xiaoran. A coin fired.
Whoosh!
Now above him. Another coin fired.
…
Since Jiang Yiqin had no idea where she’d appear next, the enemy had no way of predicting it either. She relied on her reflexes to aim and fire the coins.
“Cowards!”
Gu Xiaoran shouted.
Still, he got hit—twice—one in the back and once in the right shoulder. Bl00d sprayed, and his face twisted in pain.
No matter how tough he was, he wasn’t going to tank Yiqin’s railgun shots like Su Mu could with her vampire armor.
Suddenly, a wave of intense psychic pressure rippled outward, disrupting the spatial anchors Xiaojing had placed.
Her teleportation—disabled!
Normally, spatial abilities were considered high-tier. Most enemies could only try to predict the landings, not actually disrupt them.
But Gu Xiaoran had stacked five different Starlight-tier energy fields at once. Quantity over quality—brute force won out.
Chains of energy locked onto Chen Xiaojing. Her body froze—she couldn’t teleport anymore!
“Big Sis… I can’t move…”
Chen Xiaojing was drenched in sweat. She’d triggered every ability she had, but it was useless.
“It’s okay. It’s not like he can jump up here.”
Jiang Yiqin stood calmly on a floating iron-sand platform she had created. They were over ten meters in the air—perfectly safe.
She fired off a few more coins, slamming them into Gu Xiaoran and kicking up clouds of dust.
“Die!!”
Gu Xiaoran clenched his left fist, layers of elemental power swirling around it, and hurled the energy straight at them.
For some reason, the energy detached from his fist and shot out like cannonballs.
Jiang Yiqin grabbed Chen Xiaojing and tried to escape by riding the iron-sand disc with electromagnetic propulsion—but it was too slow.
“Waaah—Angel! Let’s help them!”
Wang Xin frowned and summoned her succubus wings and tail. Since Gu Xiaoran hadn’t targeted her specifically, she could still teleport through his field.
At the last second, Wang Xin and Qin Anna flew in front of the girls.
Boom—!
Qin Anna raised her cross, summoning a golden shield of light. The incoming energy blast struck it and was stopped—barely.
The shield shattered instantly.
“Ahhh! Angel, are you okay?!”
Wang Xin looked over worriedly. Golden-red light rings were swirling around Qin Anna.
“I think… I just got stronger?”
Moments later, the rings faded back into her body, and her eyes began to glow even brighter.
“Huh? Not bad…”
Back on the ground, Su Mu was watching the boss battle with great interest.
In her Vampire’s Eye, a new notification popped up—Qin Anna had just broken through to Lv.5.
