The Entire Harem has Transmigrated - Chapter 11
Yu Yunfei didn’t take Ruan Qingqing’s words to heart. After all, she was simply happy to be with her Little Majesty, and for now, she desired nothing more.
Before going to bed, Yu Yunfei raised her hands above her head and made a large heart shape for Ruan Qingqing. Seeing her, Ruan Qingqing mimicked the gesture, raising her own hands above her head. This made Yu Yunfei’s eyes crinkle with laughter.
“Good night, Qingqing,” she said.
The girl across from her replied sweetly, “Good night, A-Yun.”
Yu Yunfei slept soundly that night. When she woke up the next morning, she instinctively reached for her phone and opened Weibo. The top trending search blared: “Fire Breaks Out on Set of ‘The Legend of the Great Qian’s Consort Shu’—Explosive!”
Yu Yunfei: “!!!”
What’s going on?!
She sat up abruptly and clicked on the link. Just then, Ruan Qingqing emerged from her room, rubbing her eyes. “Morning,” she greeted.
Yu Yunfei shared the news: “The drama crew I used to work with had a fire last night.”
“Mm,” Ruan Qingqing replied calmly. “The fire covered about 500 square meters, but thankfully no innocents were harmed. The only serious injury was to the director who bullied you; everyone else is fine.”
Yu Yunfei glanced down at the news report and saw that it matched Ruan Qingqing’s description perfectly.
“Did you see the news on your phone earlier?” Yu Yunfei asked.
“No,” Ruan Qingqing shook her head. “I calculated it.”
Their eyes met. Seeing Yu Yunfei’s expression, Ruan Qingqing pouted, looking both indignant and wronged. “Are you doubting me again?” she muttered.
Last time, Yu Yunfei’s suspicion had driven the Little Emperor away. Even though she still harbored some doubts, she dared not show them this time. She immediately raised her hand and swore, “I have no doubts whatsoever. A-Yun trusts Your Majesty completely.”
“I’m truly a powerful Metaphysics Master now,” Ruan Qingqing declared, her small face serious. “You mustn’t doubt me.”
Yu Yunfei recalled how their Emperor in her previous life had been fascinated by such esoteric arts—traditional medicine, divination, and the supernatural. Not wanting to dampen her enthusiasm, she showered Ruan Qingqing with praise, coaxing the Little Emperor into a radiant smile.
With rice on hand, breakfast was a simple meal of plain congee and pickled vegetables. Ruan Qingqing ate with gusto, but Yu Yunfei felt a pang of guilt. “I’m making Your Majesty suffer,” she said apologetically.
Ruan Qingqing didn’t mind the hardship. Even at her worst, it couldn’t compare to her days as Emperor, when she had to bind her chest tightly every day during her formative years. The pain was unbearable, and she would often crawl into the Imperial Preceptor’s arms at night, sobbing and muttering about wanting to abdicate. Yet the next morning, she would force herself to rise, swallow her bitterness, and attend court with renewed vigor.
Now, things were much better. She could finally be a girl, living openly and doing what she loved.
At this thought, Ruan Qingqing’s already bright apricot eyes sparkled even more. Though still hungry, she eagerly discussed their next steps with Yu Yunfei. “I need a set of fortune-telling and ghost-hunting tools,” she said. “Nothing fancy—just something convincing enough to fool people.”
Yu Yunfei looked puzzled. “What does Your Majesty plan to do?”
“Now that the director has reaped what he sowed and suffered his karmic retribution, filming for The Legend of the Great Qian’s Consort Shu will be temporarily halted,” Ruan Qingqing explained. “We can use this time to manipulate things and reclaim the female lead that rightfully belongs to you.”
“How do we do that?” Yu Yunfei asked.
Ruan Qingqing declared it simple. Bai Qiaoying’s acting was atrocious; she only secured the role thanks to her wealthy patron’s influence. All they needed to do was change his mind.
“Her sugar daddy’s surname is Qian. Recently, his old mansion has been haunted, and everything’s been going wrong. He’s secretly hiring Xuan Masters at exorbitant prices to perform exorcisms. If I can help him capture that malevolent ghost and earn his trust, I’ll naturally find a way to convince him to abandon Bai Qiaoying.”
Yu Yunfei leaned closer to Ruan Qingqing and asked, “Do ghosts really exist in this world?”
“Of course they do,” Ruan Qingqing replied calmly.
Yu Yunfei gasped and pressed closer, asking, “Then Your Majesty isn’t afraid of them?”
Ruan Qingqing looked at her, puzzled. “What’s there to fear about ghosts? I can catch them with my bare hands now—one in each hand, and kick two more away with my feet.”
Compared to malevolent ghosts that she could obliterate with a single strike, beautiful women who were as dangerous as wolves and tigers were far more terrifying. Take Li Qianxuan and Ye Shiyu, for example—she couldn’t bear to hit them, couldn’t bring herself to scold them, and had to endure their bullying. That was truly infuriating.
Yu Yunfei chuckled, unable to resist saying, “If Your Majesty is so powerful, why did you buy all those fortune-telling and ghost-catching tools?”
“To fit in with the local trends, of course,” Ruan Qingqing explained. “I saw online that Xuan Masters here always put on elaborate displays when capturing ghosts. I want to blend in with the crowd and not stand out too much.”
Yu Yunfei remained skeptical, but seeing the Little Emperor’s radiant and adorable expression, she couldn’t help but praise, “Your Majesty is truly so approachable.”
“I’ve been wanting to say this for a while now—I’m no longer the Emperor. You can just call me Qingqing,” Ruan Qingqing paused, then looked at Yu Yunfei with hopeful eyes. “Or you could call me Master.”
Yu Yunfei: “Alright, Qingqing.”
Ruan Qingqing pouted, and Yu Yunfei quickly soothed her, “Calling you ‘Master’ feels too formal. That’s what outsiders call you. I’m used to calling you Your Majesty or Qingqing—it makes our relationship feel closer. As long as I know in my heart that Your Majesty is the Master, isn’t that enough?”
“You’re right,” Ruan Qingqing agreed, easily appeased.
Yu Yunfei instructed her assistant to purchase the necessary supplies. Soon, Shen Huan arrived with a stack of talisman paper, a compass, a peach wood sword, and other tools.
In addition to the tools, Shen Huan also brought a box, which she solemnly presented to Ruan Qingqing with both hands.
“What’s this?” Yu Yunfei asked, leaning in curiously. Ruan Qingqing opened the box, revealing a vibrant crimson brocade banner.
Emblazoned across the banner in bold characters were the words: “Immortal’s Guidance, Prophetic Insight.” Below, in smaller script, it read: “To Miss Ruan.”
Yu Yunfei had initially wondered what the point was of giving such a thing. It couldn’t be eaten or used for anything practical. If they truly wanted to thank Ruan Qingqing, they should have treated her to a lavish meal instead. To her surprise, Ruan Qingqing absolutely adored the banner, hugging it close and turning it over and over, refusing to let go. She even declared her intention to collect more crimson banners in the future, vowing to cover an entire wall with them.
Fine, Yu Yunfei thought. As long as Your Majesty is happy.
After receiving the talisman paper, Ruan Qingqing dipped her brush in ink and hastily wrote two new talismans. Once the ink dried, she handed them to Shen Huan, saying, “One for you, and one for your friend.”
“This must be incredibly precious,” Shen Huan said, overwhelmed. “I barely escaped with my life thanks to the Master’s guidance. I can never repay such a great kindness, so how could I possibly accept these talismans?”
Ruan Qingqing, flattered by being called “Master,” patiently explained, “Life and death are governed by fate, a destiny that even the greatest human efforts can rarely alter. If it had truly been a fatal calamity, it wouldn’t have been so easily averted. You and your friend were never destined to die; you would merely have been injured and bedridden for a few months.”
Shen Huan remained grateful. “Even so, I’m deeply indebted to you. Without your intervention, my friend and I would have suffered terribly.”
Ruan Qingqing accepted her gratitude and handed over the talismans. “Take these. Though you’ve avoided this disaster, fate always balances itself. Even if you escape a major calamity, you’ll still face minor misfortunes to offset your luck. These talismans will help you ward off those troubles.”
Yu Yunfei chimed in, “Just take it, Qingqing’s giving it to you. What’s with the fuss? She’s only doing this because of me, you know?”
Shen Huan hesitated no longer and accepted the talisman, belatedly realizing, “The Master is absolutely right! No wonder I’ve been feeling so unlucky these past few days. Yesterday, my phone even fell and hit me in the face!”
Ruan Qingqing asked, “Were you lying in bed playing on your phone when it happened?”
Shen Huan exclaimed excitedly, “How did you know? The Master truly is divinely insightful!”
Ruan Qingqing stammered, “Uh… I didn’t actually divine that. It’s just that the same thing happened to me last night, so I figured…”
Shen Huan mumbled awkwardly, “Oh.”
Yu Yunfei burst into laughter, but after she’d had her fill, she asked Ruan Qingqing, “Did it hurt when it hit you yesterday?”
Ruan Qingqing glared at her, insisting, “It stopped hurting ages ago.”
Consort Shu dares to mock me? What’s so funny about that?
Due to the incident on set, Yu Yunfei was called back to work. Although she’d been on strike for the past few days, she had previously been part of the crew. Ruan Qingqing stayed home, engrossed in writing talismans. Just as she was deeply focused, she heard a knock at the door.
Who could it be?
“Qingqing,” a familiar voice called from outside. “Are you in there?”
It was the Noble Consort. Remembering her past actions, Ruan Qingqing felt a surge of anger and deliberately refused to open the door. To her surprise, Li Qianxuan didn’t leave after a while and knocked again.
Fine, fine, Ruan Qingqing thought. She couldn’t bring herself to be truly harsh with the beautiful woman. After a moment’s hesitation, she opened the door.
Li Qianxuan entered and placed a bundle of thorny branches before Ruan Qingqing.
Startled by this gesture, Ruan Qingqing was about to ask what she wanted when the radiant beauty closed the door and, right before her eyes, began to unbutton her shirt.
Ruan Qingqing: “!!!”
Furious, Ruan Qingqing covered her eyes and retreated, shouting, “What are you trying to do now? Are you trying to force yourself on me again? Trying to make it a done deal?”
But nothing of the sort happened.
Ruan Qingqing heard a thud. When she opened her eyes, Li Qianxuan was already kneeling before her, the thorny branches pressed against her bare back. Her radiant features carried a hint of weariness and desolation, but her gaze remained unwavering. “Your Majesty,” she said, “this concubine has erred. I have come to offer my humble apologies and bear the consequences of my actions.”
“Why go to such lengths?” Ruan Qingqing sighed. Though the self-inflicted suffering tactic was cliché, it proved effective. Softening, she helped Li Qianxuan to her feet.
