- The Evil Noble Desires A Beautiful Demise - Could It Be That You're Stuck In A Loop?
- Episode 23 - To The One Who Disappears
The awakening event of Endens is tragic.
The prologue of Tiarola was quite something, but the events in Endens are equally hopeless.
The event occurs in the third year of academy life.
In the Olbraim Empire, the country of Endens, a massive outbreak of magical beasts and a flood of magical beasts occur. A flood of magical beasts is a major crisis for the country, and it could even lead to the destruction of a small nation. In this emergency, Endens is summoned by the empire and is to respond as one of the generals. Together with Tiarola, Kirisia, and Krig, with whom he has deepened his bonds over three years.
Endens was in charge of the Great Forest in the southern part of the Empire, and although there were sporadic monster attacks, it was relatively calm. There, Endens decided to cut off the root cause of the monster outbreaks. It was believed that the monster outbreaks occurred when a powerful boss monster appeared, so he thought of defeating that culprit.
Considering the situation, it might have been tactically correct. They thought it would be best to finish it while the allies’ losses were minimal and the number of magical beasts was not too high. However, this decision ultimately led to a tragedy.
Leaving Tiarola at the main camp to tend to the wounded, the soldiers led by Endens entered the forest. And then…
Except for Endens, everyone will be annihilated.
We lost many soldiers, as well as our comrades Kirisia and Krig.
The reasons are broadly three.
The first reason was that the crown prince, fearing Endens’ talent, had manipulated things so that only rookie soldiers were stationed there.
The second reason is that the boss monster, who was the main culprit, was more powerful than expected.
The third point is that there wasn’t just one powerful boss monster.
And then, Endens enraged by the death of his comrades, awakened his unique skill. This ability, the “Flame of End,” a sword of the apocalypse that burns away despair. Endens, mustering his last ounce of strength, succeeded in defeating the demon beast. Tiarola treated the battered Endens upon his return to the main camp, bringing this event to a close.
Afterward, Endens, who lost promising soldiers and important comrades due to his own responsibility, was overwhelmed by despair. Furthermore, his reputation in the empire plummeted, and he returned to the academy as if fleeing.
Endens, having reflected on himself at the academy, stands up once again. To fulfill his responsibility as a survivor, he steps forward to save the people.
“…I don’t want to let you die.”
Kirisia, Krig, and of course, the young soldiers too.
And, I want to save Endens.
To achieve that, I want to close the distance with Endens. Even if we don’t become close, I want to be able to talk normally. In the next exercise, I hope to actively engage in conversation.
A while had passed since the first exercise, and it was now the day of the next exercise. This time, it seemed, the exercise would be the subjugation of a magical beast.
“This time seems easy too, doesn’t it?!!”
Kirisia is always so high-energy.
Well, Kirisia is probably right. Those monsters around here shouldn’t be a match for us. I think Kirisia and Endens will take care of them again without me having to step in.
“Hmm, I can’t see Endens, but it’s rare to see such a thing.”
Krig looked around and said that.
That’s something I’ve been wondering about too. Endens is very strict about time. It’s strange that he hasn’t shown up even though it’s almost time to meet.
Somehow, I have a bad feeling.
“You, you all gathered here, huh?”
Right on time, Garondo arrived.
Endens hasn’t come.
“Um, the attendance hasn’t arrived yet…”
“Huh? Oh, it seems he got called by the government and won’t be here. He asked me to tell you guys he’s sorry.”
A summons from the country…?
That kind of thing shouldn’t have been in this event. There is a possibility that the scenario has changed, but…
My heart is racing.
No way, no way…
“…Beast rampage?”
The honor students are surprised by my words.
The outbreak of magical beasts is that dangerous.
“Hmm? What? Were you listening? That guy told me to keep quiet, but you were talking to him?”
I am stunned by those words.
Ah, what a thing…!!
The event is being moved up…!!
“When did Endens return!?”
“Oh, what’s up all of a sudden? Wasn’t it just three days ago?”
Three days, three days, huh?
It takes about five days to reach the southern part of the Olbraim Empire from here by normal means, even if we hurry. Since we probably won’t rush into the forest immediately upon arrival, we might have a bit more time.
Is it still possible…?
No, we’ll make it in time. With neither Kirisia nor Krig around, the chances of Endens surviving are low.
“……Professor Garondo, I have an urgent matter to attend to, so I will be absent this time. Also, please grant me permission to go out.”
“Hey, hey, wait a minute. Are you going now? It doesn’t really matter, does it?”
“…Um, just so you know, I’m also from the Olbraim Empire.”
“Oh, is that so?”
Well, I haven’t said anything, so you wouldn’t know.
Kirisia is also surprised.
“Well, it’s probably too late, right? Just leave it be. It’s not like we’re that close anyway.”
“I’ll make it in time. Besides, Endens is a member of my party.”
Staring at Garondo.
If I can’t get permission here, I’ll head there prepared to drop out.
“Heh, hahaha!! Not bad, not bad, so you can make that kind of face too! Alright, I’ll take care of things on my end.”
“Thank you very much…”
Alright, now I can go without any worries.
If I use magic to travel without sleeping, I should just barely make it in time.
“I’ll go too!”
“You are no good.”
Tiarola offered to help, but was immediately turned down by Garondo.
“Why is that!?”
“Your skills are lacking. Your will is lacking. I granted Salifa permission because she possesses both. Do you have that?”
“Th-that is…”
Tiarola looks down regretfully.
The way he puts it is harsh, but Garondo is right. Tiarola’s power might be useful, but it won’t be in time.
“……Tiarola, I’ll be fine. I’ll definitely save Endens too.”
“But, but…”
“Oh! Then how about something like this!”
The one who interrupted the conversation was Kirisia.
“This training exercise is about subduing magical beasts, right? Let’s head to the Empire now and start the exercise!!”
No, that’s just not possible.
Garondo is also exasperated.
“You know… Do you really think you can do something like that? Besides, there’s no reason for you to go.”
“Oh, is that so? I’m going to help my friends! What more reason do I need?”
Kirisia declares loudly.
This person is really amazing.
“Eh, am I supposed to go too? I’m not that interested…”
“For our comrades! If it’s to save them! We will take action!”
“Ah, yeah, okay, okay, I got it… I’ll just pretend it’s an imperial tour or something…”
What is this, what’s going on?
I can’t keep up with the developments.
“Hey, I know you’re excited, but this is another country we’re talking about. There’s no way we can just give permission so easily.”
Well, of course.
I appreciate the sentiment, but everyone will just have to wait…
“But, it’s interesting.”
Garondo smirks.
Huh?
“Nice, nice! Being reckless when you’re young is just right! Hahaha, this kind of development is exciting!”
Was Garondo always like this?
Could it be that they will actually grant permission?
“Alright, Salifa, you go ahead. I’ll take care of these guys later. No need to worry about the tedious procedures; we can handle them later.”
Garondo laughs with genuine delight.
“Alright, let’s go, everyone. We’re going to help our comrades!!”
