- Episode 1 - Condemnation
“──Juliet! You false saint!”
Accused of being a false saint, a look of confusion appeared in Juliet’s purple eyes.
“Capture him! He is the traitor who plotted the great treason!”
“Eh…?”
At the same time that insults were hurled, armed soldiers surrounded Juliet all at once.
Exhausted, Juliet was easily thrown onto the temple floor.
“──!”
The man in white gloves grabbed Juliet’s head and forced her to kneel on the cobblestones.
With her long hair being roughly pulled, Juliet lets out a silent scream.
“Your scheme has been completely exposed! You can’t weasel your way out of this anymore!”
The man who glares at Juliet with hatred is Nathan de Lancelot. He is the only prince and heir apparent of the Kingdom of Coral.
“Prince Nathan!? What is the meaning of this!?”
“Shut up! A lowly person like you has no right to call my name so casually!”
Nathan looked down at Juliet with a cold gaze.
“Juliet! You were a saint, yet you fell into the path of sorcery! You are an unforgivable sinner!”
Confronted with an accusation of a crime she had no memory of committing, Juliet was left speechless.
“Such… what on earth are you saying…?”
Roughly tied up, her robe came undone, revealing the bruise on Juliet’s shoulder.
The red mark shaped like a rose petal is not just an ordinary mark. It is a sign called “stigmata,” one of the conditions to be recognized as a saint. Juliet had these stigmata on her shoulder since she was born.
“Hmph, so transparent! Those bruises are either just a coincidence or a cleverly crafted fake!”
Nathan chuckled.
“I thought it was strange. You, a lowly orphan, are not worthy of the position of the saint of this country! And yet, without knowing your place, you have the audacity to try to seduce me, the next king!”
What, me trying to seduce Prince Nathan? No way!
Juliet tried to argue, but no sound came out. A sharp pain constricted her head.
……Ugh…… it hurts……!
There was a reason for this headache. I had exhausted the special healing powers that only the saints possesses to their limit.
The saint has a special ability to heal people’s wounds and illnesses, but the act of healing comes with a backlash.
The more severe the injury being healed, the more critical the patient’s condition, the greater the healing power required, and the backlash falls on the healer—namely, the saint herself.
Yesterday, Juliet was requested by the royal family to fully unleash her healing powers.
As a result, I was still plagued by dizziness, headaches, and fatigue to the extent that I couldn’t fully recover even by the next day, making it difficult to move properly.
It was Prince Nathan and the soldiers who stepped in during such difficult times.
Prince Nathan said that I plotted a great treason, that despite being a saint, I fell into the path of sorcery. What on earth…?
As Juliet was bewildered, Nathan spat out with a tone full of hatred.
“To kill my mother… the queen of this country, is a great sin that even the gods would fear! Juliet, you are no longer a saint! You are a wicked witch!”
Killing the queen!?
Juliet’s eyes widened.
The queen? The queen has really passed away?!
It’s no wonder they were shocked. The person Juliet poured all her healing power into yesterday was that queen.
Princess Diane had recently been suffering from an unexplained illness. Although there were many renowned doctors serving in the palace, none of them could cure the princess, and it seemed that they couldn’t even determine the name of her ailment.
So, Crown Prince Nathan summoned Juliet and ordered her to treat his mother without any hesitation.
I thought that if you’re going to ask someone for something, there should be a better way to say it, but even if I pointed it out, Nathan would just fly off the handle. Juliet silently obeyed and knelt by the bedside of the ailing queen.
When Juliet had offered all the prayers she could muster, the queen’s pale face took on a rosy hue, and the withered, faded skin regained its fresh pulsation.
Yesterday, the queen was clearly showing signs of recovery.
Even so, I can’t believe he suddenly changed and passed away in just one day.
“That can’t be! I certainly treated the queen──”
“You wicked woman! What you poured was not the power of healing, but the power of a witch that kills people!”
The face of Nathan, who is accusing, is completely convinced that Juliet killed the queen.
Nathan brandished the sword he had at his waist and commanded arrogantly.
“Arrest the witch!”
