Chapter 2: The Sugar Mommy!
Fu Ru’an’s voice was as soft as a whisper, her fingers tracing along the other’s collarbone before coming to rest on the butterfly tattoo there. Her touch was featherlight, like a lover’s caress, yet it sent Ruan Siyi plummeting into an abyss.
The air was thick with stifling ambiguity. Fu Ru’an’s fingertips lingered on Ruan Siyi’s skin, slowly teasing the hem of her clothes but deliberately stopping at the edge.
Outside, raindrops tapped rhythmically against the window, masking the ambiguous sounds within. The air was damp, like a soaked sponge. Flower buds on the windowsill, heavy with sticky moisture, trembled and whimpered as if on the verge of bursting, reaching their peak.
The room was a scene of utter debauchery.
The next day.
When Ruan Siyi groggily woke up, the storm from the night before had long since passed.
The clouds had cleared, and the rain had ceased, leaving behind a radiant sky. Gentle, fragmented sunlight streamed through a gap in the thick white clouds, slipping past the curtains and spilling into the room. She turned her head and was met with Fu Ru’an’s peaceful, unguarded sleeping face.
Ruan Siyi: “!”
The daytime temperature was much higher than it had been at night, so the neatly tucked blanket from the evening before was now in disarray, haphazardly draped over the beauty’s body.
With just a cursory glance, Ruan Siyi took in the fair shoulders dotted with red marks and the subtle shadow of collarbones beneath the blanket’s edge. A pair of slender, smooth legs pressed against the bedding—icy skin and jade-like bones—inevitably calling to mind how they had trembled and tensed the night before.
She pinched herself hard.
This wasn’t a dream.
Everything that had happened was real!
Her! Ruan Siyi!
A mere cannon fodder character!
What virtue or ability did she possess?!
To actually have slept with the female lead!!
Imagining Fu Ru’an’s fury and disgust upon waking, the divorce certificate that would inevitably be thrown her way, and the gleaming eighteen-meter-long kitchen knife awaiting her in the end—Ruan Siyi’s legs trembled as she scrambled off the bed and fled the room like it was a death warrant.
What should she do?
Who could save her?
The only way out now was to strike first, to show the protagonist her sincere remorse!
Gritting her teeth, Ruan Siyi opened her laptop and began typing furiously.
Bedroom.
Fu Ru’an was awakened by the incessant ringing of her phone.
She lazily propped herself up, feeling as though every muscle in her body was sore and weak, as if she’d fallen apart. Yet her body was clean and dry, without any sticky discomfort—clearly, someone had taken care of her after she’d passed out the night before.
A quick glance around confirmed that Ruan Siyi was nowhere to be seen.
Such a shy puppy.
She smiled faintly, reached out, and answered the call.
“Little ancestor, you finally picked up!” Her manager’s voice crackled through the line. “Do you have any idea what that freeloader—that Ruan woman—has gone and done now? She’s caused a huge mess!”
“Hm?” Fu Ru’an’s voice was slightly hoarse, laced with a satisfied sweetness. “No rush, explain slowly.”
Manager Xia Wen sensed something off about her tone but didn’t have time to dwell on it. “She’s been spouting nonsense on Weibo, saying the two of you will be attending Heartbeat Signal together! She even claimed you’re deeply in love and told all the fans wishing for your divorce to open their eyes!”
Heartbeat Signal was a new celebrity couples’ variety show launched by Green Station, featuring real-life star couples or married pairs. What made it buzzworthy even before filming began was its unique format—live broadcasting.
This meant it would be a completely unedited, 360-degree, no-holds-barred reality show where every detail would be exposed to the audience.
The first couple officially announced for the show was Ruan Siyi’s rival—someone who had debuted around the same time but had already risen to become a mid-tier star before marrying a top-tier actress in a flashy ceremony.
[Rong Zhi V]: Honored to be invited to the show with my wife @Sui Zhilu~ Unlike some fake couples, real couples have nothing to fear~
Fu Ru’an opened Weibo.
Ruan Siyi’s post had been scheduled for the night before—right when they’d been entangled in passion, which explained why she hadn’t seen it.
This had to be the work of that woman who’d taken over Ruan Ruan’s body.
[Fu Fu’s Wife Ruan Siyi V]: Screw you, Rong Momo! Who are you trying to shade here?! Bring it on! My Fu Fu and I are joining too! Let’s see who’ll die from sweetness first!!!
On the other end, Xia Wen was still rambling. “What’s wrong with her brain? How can she just accept a challenge like that and declare you’ll join? Does she have no sense of shame?”
“Given the state of your marriage, what are you even going to do there? Serve as the contrast to some sweet, loving couple? This isn’t Marriage Rescue…”
“We’ll go.”
“Right, you agree it’s a terrible idea—wait, WHAT?!” Xia Wen’s voice screeched in disbelief.
Fu Ru’an remained unruffled, elegantly fastening the top button of her white silk shirt. “Our marriage is fine. Our relationship is stable, and we’re very compatible in all aspects. We can go.”
Xia Wen: “……”
Are you even listening to yourself?
How much did you drink to be this drunk?
Do you need me to mail you some shrimp to sober up?!
But the person on the other end was her boss—the always reliable, infallible CEO. As a mere employee, she didn’t dare breathe a word of protest.
“Understood, President Fu. I’ll handle it immediately.”
Taking a deep breath, Xia Wen glanced at her six-figure monthly salary in her banking app and immediately brightened, dialing the show’s production team with a smile.
“Hello? This is Fu Ru’an’s studio. Yes, the Fu Ru’an who won Best Actress. I’m her manager, Xia Wen, and I’m here to deliver you some massive traffic.”
“No, I’m not joking. Your ears are perfectly fine. Oh my God, Buddha bless, it’s not April Fool’s Day.”
…
After hanging up, Fu Ru’an found Ruan Siyi in the study.
At the desk, Ruan Siyi sat upright, fully focused. Her fingers flew across the keyboard as if sparks were about to fly.
“What are you doing?”
Fu Ru’an leaned against the desk, her hair loosely tied up with a jade hairpin, a single strand swaying and occasionally brushing against Ruan Siyi’s ear.
“Sister? You’re awake?” Ruan Siyi turned, only to meet a pair of dark, inky eyes.
Today, Fu Ru’an wore a high-end white silk shirt—smooth, soft, and lustrous—accentuating her jade-like skin and delicate beauty. The buttons were fastened all the way to the top, effectively concealing any ambiguous marks, revealing only the edge of an omega gland protection patch.
The shirt was slightly long, ending just above her thighs, but the sight of those snow-white legs still made Ruan Siyi’s breath hitch, her fingers curling involuntarily.
Even though the scent of Baileys had been blocked, she still felt her pulse quicken.
Fu Ru’an was slightly nearsighted. She narrowed her eyes slightly to read the words on the laptop.
On the screen was a Word document with a glaringly obvious title—
Divorce Agreement.
Recalling her earlier words to her manager—”Our relationship is stable”—her face twitched slightly.
The printer beside them, already connected to the computer, hummed as it spat out several freshly printed sheets.
Two copies.
“Sister, I know I’ve wronged you. I’ve realized my past mistakes. I know I’m not worthy of you, and I even dared to harbor such inappropriate thoughts about you, to do something so… beastly to you.”
Ruan Siyi lowered her head, not daring to meet Fu Ru’an’s eyes, afraid she’d think she was being “hypocritical” or “putting on an act” again like yesterday. Her lashes trembled, appearing a translucent caramel brown in the light, her expression one of guilt and unease.
“This is the divorce agreement I drafted. Would you take a look? If there’s anything you’re unhappy with, we can revise it! Don’t worry, from now on, I—Ruan Siyi—will never pester you again!”
She handed the agreement over, raising three fingers in a vow, her eyes wide and pleading.
Fu Ru’an’s expression remained indifferent as she took the papers. Her cool gaze skimmed the contents before, with a slight exertion, she tore them into shreds.
Ruan Siyi stared at her in shock.
What was going on?
She distinctly remembered that in the original plot, the original host had tried and failed to force herself on Fu Ru’an, provoking her rage. The next day, Fu Ru’an had thrown a divorce agreement at her.
Now, she’d done something even worse than the original host.
She’d lacked restraint, unable to resist the temptation of beauty right before her.
She deserved to die.
So why, when she’d taken the initiative to draft the divorce agreement, had Fu Ru’an torn it up?
“Divorce?” The cold, snow-like omega smiled faintly, her tone icy. “After doing that to me, you think you can just run away? Ruan Ruan, aren’t you going to take responsibility?”
“I…” Ruan Siyi was at a loss for words.
Wasn’t it her who wanted the divorce in the original story?
What was happening now?
“And what about the mess you’ve made? Who’s going to clean it up?” Fu Ru’an opened her phone and showed Ruan Siyi the Weibo post. “Heartbeat Signal—you’re the one who said you’d go. Now you want a divorce? Ruan Siyi, you’re something else.”
Ruan Siyi felt her head throb just looking at the username “Fu Fu’s Wife Ruan Siyi.” The content of the post made her bl00d run cold, as if the underworld was beckoning her.
“Um… I can explain. We can just say our relationship is broken, that I was talking nonsense before…”
“You know I’m in talks with Director Jiang,” Fu Ru’an cut her off. “Director Jiang is an exceptional filmmaker. This could take my career to the next level.”
“Once, she cast a lead actor who was exposed for having a chaotic private life and cheating during marriage. The film never got released. So she cares deeply about her actors’ marital stability.”
“To secure this role, we can’t divorce now. And we have to do the show.”
“But…” Ruan Siyi hesitated. “We don’t have any real emotional foundation. Even if we go on the show, we’ll be exposed.”
“Aren’t you an actress?” Fu Ru’an’s red lips curved slightly. “Once we’re on the show, remember to act obsessed with me. Stick to me like a big, clingy dog.”
Ruan Siyi: “?”
Me?
“From now on, your allowance will double.”
“From 5 million a month to 10 million.”
Ruan Siyi’s eyes widened instantly.
