Chapter 20: Pleasant Cooperation~
Ruan Siyi suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.
Her hand instinctively tightened around the elevator card she was holding, and she abruptly noticed a tiny English letter carved into it, as if scratched with a small knife—
“f”.
She froze for a moment, her fingers unconsciously tracing the carved mark.
The mark was so small that she would never have noticed it if she hadn’t touched it by chance.
A cold sensation instantly spread up from her spine, and the ominous feeling in her heart grew heavier.
Why did Fu Ru’an know that Ward No. 7 was on the third floor?
Was the “f” on the elevator card some kind of hint as well?
Ruan Siyi took a deep breath and silently clenched the card in her palm.
Behind her, she heard Fu Ru’an chuckle softly, then lightly pat her shoulder, her voice lowered.
“Ruan Ruan, since you were the one who found the elevator card, I’ll leave this room to you. I’ll go check somewhere else.”
Fu Ru’an took a step back, her expression still relaxed and natural, as if she were just joking around.
Ruan Siyi gave her a suspicious glance.
She took a deep breath, gripped the door handle, and pushed hard.
The moment she stepped into Ward No. 7, the door behind her suddenly slammed shut—
And locked tightly.
“Sister Fu!”
Ruan Siyi turned around in panic, pounding on the door.
But there was no response from outside.
The surroundings gradually grew quiet. The lights in the ward dimmed slightly, and fragmented, hushed whispers emerged from the corners of the room—hoarse and broken, as if delirious muttering.
The air in the ward instantly turned icy, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching her from the shadows.
Ruan Siyi stood frozen, staring at Fu Ru’an’s blurry figure outside the door, her heart filled with unease.
She clenched her fists, trying to open the door, but it was futile.
Her voice and body trembled uncontrollably:
“Sister Fu, you… you’re not really leaving me here alone, are you?”
Fu Ru’an outside the door seemed to hear her voice. She tilted her head slightly, her profile flawless, the corner of her lips curling into a faint, ambiguous smile as she murmured:
“Baby, I won’t let you out until you find the correct answer.”
[Hahaha, Movie Queen Fu’s expression is like a little cat watching her puppy walk right into a trap!]
[Damn! Movie Queen Fu is really something—locking the door just like that!]
[This atmosphere is so terrifying, trapping Ruan Siyi in the room… What is Movie Queen Fu planning?]
[Wait, girls, I think Movie Queen Fu must have some hidden plot going on!]
[Ruan Ruan, hurry up and solve the puzzle yourself! This is definitely Movie Queen Fu’s test of love for you!!]
Ruan Siyi couldn’t help but glance back at the dark ward again—
Low murmurs seemed to drift from every corner of the room, somewhere between sobbing and laughter.
She slowly turned around, nervously scanning her surroundings, her palms slightly sweaty.
Suddenly, a strange noise came from the bed in the corner. The white sheet covering it bulged slightly, as if something beneath it was slowly sitting up.
Ruan Siyi’s heartbeat accelerated abruptly, her fingers trembling so much she nearly forgot to breathe.
A pale hand slowly emerged from under the sheet, as if reaching for her.
She took a few steps back, her gaze fixed on the bed, trying to stay calm. Yet her feet kept retreating until her back hit the wall.
[Ahhhh! I can’t take this, this part is so scary! What’s under the sheet?!]
[Calm down, everyone! It’s just part of the plot, not a ghost (hopefully)!]
Ruan Siyi took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay composed. Suddenly, she remembered the “f” on the elevator card, and countless conjectures flashed through her mind.
Did Fu Ru’an know all the secrets here from the very beginning?
What exactly was she and the production team up to?!
Clutching the elevator card, Ruan Siyi cautiously moved toward another corner of the ward.
Just then, another soft sound came from the bed in the corner. She whipped her head around, holding her breath, staring in that direction.
In an instant, the white sheet slipped off, revealing a pale face. Its eyes were slightly open, staring straight at her.
“Dr. Ruan… you’ve finally come…”
The voice was low and hoarse, as if forced from the depths of its throat, carrying a trace of resentment that echoed through the empty ward.
Ruan Siyi felt her back drenched in cold sweat, sticking uncomfortably to her skin.
She forced herself to stay calm. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, clenched her teeth, and mustered the courage to step forward.
The “corpse” before her wore a hospital gown, its face deathly pale, eyes shut tight, as if it no longer belonged to this world.
Yet, it suddenly opened its eyes, staring coldly at her, and slowly raised a hand, holding out an envelope to her.
Inside was an old photograph.
In it, both she and Fu Ru’an were wearing school uniforms, clearly taken from a voyeuristic angle.
Fu Ru’an held a jar of paper-folded butterflies in one hand, her other arm hooked around Ruan Siyi’s flushed neck. Their noses were almost touching, their breaths tangled in an ambiguous intimacy…
Ruan Siyi stared at the photo, struck by an eerie sense of familiarity.
The uniforms…
They were exactly the same as the ones in her dream?!
[Holy sh1t?! They were schoolmates? They knew each other back then?]
[No way! (Shocked) Movie Queen Fu and Ruan Siyi… from school uniforms to wedding dresses?!]
[Oh my god! Is anyone else just dying to know if the two in this photo actually ended up kissing?! (Kicking my legs in frustration)]
But…
What did this have to do with the password?
Suddenly, fragments of memories flashed through her mind.
“Say it again? You said you like me?”
“Sure. You know I love butterflies the most. Fold me a thousand and one, and I’ll say yes.”
“Wait, seriously? You actually folded a thousand?”
“Idiot. I was trying to make you back off! If all Alphas were as stubborn as you, none of them would ever find a wife.”
“Shut up! Don’t say nonsense! Who’s your wife?!”
“Do you even know what to do after getting together?”
“Wait, you’re searching it up right now? Ruan Siyi, you—”
“Never mind, come here. Let me kiss you first!”
……
Ruan Siyi felt lost and bewildered.
For a moment, she couldn’t tell whether these were figments of her imagination or memories of things that had truly happened.
Just like the butterfly tattoo on her collarbone, whose origin she couldn’t remember.
Beneath her collar, the blue-purple butterfly’s tail trembled, its wings shimmering with fiery iridescence, like scattered fireworks—or a girl’s fervent, unrestrained longing and love.
At the door, she recited four numbers.
“1001.”
With a soft “click,” the locked door opened.
Outside, the once gloomy and dim hallway was now brightly lit, adorned with colorful balloons and streamers.
Flowers, champagne, and fairy lights filled the space. A long table stood in the center, bearing a large cake decorated with chibi versions of Ruan Siyi and Fu Ru’an, their faces red as they kissed.
For a moment, Ruan Siyi wondered if she’d walked onto the wrong set.
“Surprise!”
Aike popped open a bottle of champagne, the foam spraying out.
Ruan Siyi quickly scanned the room but didn’t see Fu Ru’an.
“Where’s Sister Fu?”
She immediately asked.
[See?! This is what true love looks like! The first thing Little Ruan does is ask about Movie Queen Fu!]
[What’s going on here? I’m so confused. Is it someone’s birthday today?]
“Surprise, Ruan Ruan.”
Ruan Siyi instinctively turned around.
The beautiful omega had changed into a gorgeous red dress, every step graceful and captivating.
Fu Ru’an walked toward her, smiling, holding a bucket of paper butterflies.
“Today is our third wedding anniversary.”
“Ruan Ruan, pleasant cooperation.”
