Chapter 23: Sister, What Flavor Do You Like?
Ruan Siyi’s mind buzzed with shock as the torn red dress flashed vividly before her eyes.
Fu Ru’an’s words made her face grow so thin it was almost transparent, layers of red spreading across her cheeks like a ripened apple.
Her heart raced wildly as she silently replayed the earlier conversation in her head. The more she thought about it, the more she felt she was “doomed.”
Stammering, Ruan Siyi spoke, her lowered eyelashes trembling slightly:
“F-Fu… Sister Fu, that earlier… I was just joking around with Rong Zhi, just saying whatever came to mind. Don’t take it seriously.”
Fu Ru’an raised an eyebrow and tossed the red fabric onto her.
The dress bore several glaring tear marks from last night’s impatience and urgency, its crumpled bow ties swaying along with them.
“Is that so?”
She slowly approached Ruan Siyi, blowing a warm, teasing breath into the shy little puppy’s ear.
The hot air brushed gently against her ear, sending tiny goosebumps rising across Ruan Siyi’s skin.
“Ding dong—”
The WeChat notification chimed again.
Ruan Siyi closed her eyes. Without even looking, she knew it must be another message from Rong Zhi.
The original owner of this body—really, even though the two of them were already in such a hostile relationship, why did she still keep her contact?
Just to annoy each other?!
Beside her, Fu Ru’an took the phone from her hand and clicked on the new voice message.
[Born to Be Gorgeous]: Holy sh1t! Ruan Siyi, have you no shame? How could someone as aloof as Actress Fu ever say something like that?
[Born to Be Gorgeous]: Making up such an outrageous lie just to protect your pathetic pride—how dare you even say it?!
Ruan Siyi didn’t dare move.
She watched helplessly as Fu Ru’an picked up her phone, the chat window with Rong Zhi flickering before her eyes. A wave of nervousness surged in her chest—
As if what flashed on the screen wasn’t just a message, but her own bravado-laden “lies” about to be exposed.
Rong Zhi’s voice cut through the air like a knife, each word stabbing straight into Ruan Siyi’s heart.
Frozen in place, her palms sweaty, Ruan Siyi’s gaze darted around anxiously, unable to meet Fu Ru’an’s probing, direct stare.
“Ruan Siyi.”
Fu Ru’an slowly lifted her head, her calm eyes settling on her with an indescribable nuance.
“Tell me, what kind of person am I?”
“F-Fu… Sister Fu…”
Ruan Siyi forced a dry laugh, her voice trembling.
“I-I wouldn’t dare make things up about you. I was just… saying whatever to deal with Rong Zhi. She’s just too annoying…”
Fu Ru’an watched her flustered, awkward demeanor, the corners of her lips curling slightly as if amused by her distress.
“But she doesn’t believe you, Ruan Ruan.”
She glanced at the phone, her lashes casting delicate shadows under the light, slightly curled like feathered wings, exuding an air of refined, cold beauty.
“What should we do, baby? Do you need my help?”
“Help me with what?”
Ruan Siyi stood there dumbfounded, her expression blank, staring at Fu Ru’an like a clueless little animal.
“Help you explain.”
Fu Ru’an looked at Ruan Siyi’s flushed, panicked face and smiled meaningfully. Her pink-tipped finger slowly pressed the voice message button.
“Hello, this is Fu Ru’an.”
“Ruan Ruan wasn’t lying. We get along very well.”
“In bed too.”
Fu Ru’an’s voice was soft and low, yet carried an undeniable pressure that transmitted unmistakably through the phone.
The moment the message was sent, Ruan Siyi’s heart nearly leaped out of her throat. She stared at Fu Ru’an in shock, as if she hadn’t expected her to actually respond so… directly.
The way she phrased it…
Was way too blunt.
Was she really that impressive?
Ruan Siyi secretly rubbed her hands together.
“Now Rong Zhi won’t have anything else to say.”
Fu Ru’an chuckled lightly at her dumbstruck expression.
Ruan Siyi opened her mouth nervously, her voice trembling. She tried several times to speak, but the words seemed stuck in her throat, only managing to stammer out a few fragmented syllables:
“Fu… Sister Fu… y-you… that was… a bit too…”
She lowered her head, her gaze darting around uneasily, her fingers twisting the hem of her clothes until her knuckles turned white.
“Too what?”
Fu Ru’an looked at her with amusement, clearly enjoying her flustered state.
“A little… exaggerated.”
Ruan Siyi mumbled under her breath.
“It’s too easy for people to misunderstand.”
Fu Ru’an let out a soft laugh, her slender fingers tapping idly as she said slowly, “What’s there to misunderstand? I think the clearer, the better.”
A hint of mischief flashed in her eyes, as if deliberately trying to provoke an even more flustered reaction.
“Ruan Ruan, how else do you think I should explain it?”
She leaned in slightly, her gaze fixed intently on Ruan Siyi’s face, her tone gentle as if giving her every opportunity to choose.
Ruan Siyi was left speechless by the question, standing there blankly, her mind utterly empty.
“N-no need to explain anymore…”
She whispered, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible.
Fu Ru’an chuckled and leaned in to murmur by her ear, “Then, as you wish, no more explanations.”
“Let’s go home.”
Even after settling into the driver’s seat, Ruan Siyi’s heart still felt like it was floating on clouds.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, her heartbeat so rapid it nearly drowned out the sound of the wind outside.
Yet, Fu Ru’an’s presence in the passenger seat was calm yet impossible to ignore, every breath seeming to seep into Ruan Siyi’s pulse, disrupting its usual rhythm.
The tired omega’s eyes were half-lidded, dark circles faintly visible beneath them. Her head rested against the seat, long lashes casting delicate shadows, softening her usually sharp, cold beauty into something gentler.
The quiet inside the car amplified her breathing—soft and slow, each inhale and exhale carrying a lazy satisfaction.
Just as Ruan Siyi couldn’t resist stealing another glance, Fu Ru’an suddenly opened her eyes, her dark pupils meeting Ruan Siyi’s gaze without warning.
“Ruan Ruan, be careful at the intersection ahead.”
Fu Ru’an spoke softly, a casual reminder tinged with drowsiness, carrying a faint hint of acting coquettishly.
Ruan Siyi snapped back to reality, her cheeks flushing instantly as she quickly averted her eyes to the road ahead, clearing her throat nervously.
“I-I was watching the road… I wasn’t… looking at you…”
Fu Ru’an’s lips curled slightly, her eyes brimming with amusement. She maintained her lazy, half-asleep posture, sighing softly with a faint hum in her voice.
“Mhm, good.”
“Ruan Ruan, don’t forget the reward you promised me.”
Reward.
Fu Ru’an’s light words, spoken so casually, landed right by Ruan Siyi’s ear, making her hands jerk slightly and nearly swerve the car.
Her mind flashed back to that morning, brushing her teeth, when a pair of soft hands had wrapped around her waist from behind.
And those teasing words:
“My sweet Ruan Ruan, I helped you cover up your lie. I even threw my dignity away for it.”
“Since I cooperated so well with your little fib, shouldn’t I get my rightful reward?”
Ruan Siyi: “!”
Sister Fu suddenly bringing this up…
Was it the kind of reward she was thinking of?
In the car… that wouldn’t be appropriate, right?
“I’m a little hungry right now.”
Fu Ru’an watched her increasingly tense expression and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Ruan Ruan, would you buy me a box of fruit candy?”
Ruan Siyi blinked in confusion.
So… all she needed was candy?
She really had a dirty mind.
Ruan Siyi vaguely remembered a convenience store a little further down the road. Nodding slightly, she put on a face mask, pulled a baseball cap low over her eyes, and parked the car in a temporary spot by the roadside.
“Then wait here for me, Sister.”
The convenience store was bathed in warm, soft light, the yellow LED glow from above casting a cozy atmosphere over the entire shop.
The shelves were neatly arranged, their colorful packaging dazzling to the eye. The candy section was stocked with all kinds of sweets—tiny mints, vibrant gummies, even imported chocolates in elegant tins—each exuding an enticing fragrance.
Without hesitation, Ruan Siyi grabbed the most expensive, most glittering box on the shelf.
It looked delicious.
Her sister deserved only the finest, most luxurious candy.
Just as she was about to head to the checkout, something else near the register suddenly caught her eye.
On a small display stand by the counter was a row of eye-catching small packages—
Finger cots in various flavors.
Each was printed with bright fruit illustrations: grape, strawberry, lemon, blueberry, even some exotic flavors she couldn’t name.
The packaging was designed to be attention-grabbing, as if specifically meant to draw Ruan Siyi’s gaze.
Holding the box of candy, Ruan Siyi stood frozen, her eyes drifting uncontrollably toward the finger cots.
Her mind involuntarily conjured images of Fu Ru’an’s sharp, breathy gasps, her skin flushed red from friction, as if each flavor carried a secret, tantalizing promise.
With these, it’d be safer and more hygienic, and Sister would probably feel even better.
She also wanted Sister’s praise.
To be called a big, mighty top.
She loved it.
Unconsciously, she swallowed hard, her face burning, her heartbeat accelerating until she couldn’t tear her eyes away.
The cashier, idly playing on her phone, noticed her lingering and suddenly approached, enthusiastically recommending:
“Hello! These flavors are all super popular, especially with couples! Each one has a unique taste—would you like to try some?”
Flustered, Ruan Siyi averted her gaze, her face burning. “I… I’m just looking…”
Her hand slowly hovered over each flavor until it paused on one particular package.
This one seemed special—through the packaging, she could see a small bead-like object inside, round and smooth.
The cashier’s eyes lit up when she noticed where Ruan Siyi’s hand had stopped, her tone growing excited.
“You have such great taste, customer! This is our newest product—an upgraded version of the original. Not only does it have added lubrication, but it also has a new pleasure bead inside, greatly enhancing intimacy and happiness between you and your partner!”
What?!
A pleasure bead?!
Ruan Siyi’s eyes widened instantly, feeling like strange knowledge was flooding into her brain in the weirdest way possible, threatening to overload her already limited mental capacity.
Since when did they have designs like this?!
Her big, round eyes blinked at the cashier. “Miss, is this the only flavor left?”
The cashier nodded regretfully. “Yes, this is the last grape-flavored one in the store. The older versions still have some other flavors, though.”
Grape flavor.
She just didn’t know if Sister Fu would like it.
“Um… let me ask…”
Ruan Siyi pulled out her phone and texted Fu Ru’an:
[Blanket Explorer]: Sister, grape, strawberry, lemon, or blueberry. Which flavor do you like?
Little Ruan deliberately listed grape first.
In the car, Fu Ru’an saw the message and assumed Ruan Siyi was asking about candy flavors. Without much thought, she typed two words—not even bothering with punctuation—and sent them.
Ruan Siyi’s phone chimed.
A message from “Sister Fu” appeared:
[Sister Fu]: Grape.
