The Fake Heiress's Guide to Self-Rescue - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: The Unworldly Variety Show [6]
This was no time for chitchat. Jiang Qianqian told Jiang Jing that Li Weizhao and the other two were trapped in the basement. Li Sheng was unconscious down there, and even if they couldn’t get him to a hospital immediately, he shouldn’t stay in the oxygen-depleted basement for long. After hearing this, Jiang Jing told Lu Yige to stay put while she and Jiang Qianqian went to check on the situation.
The door leading to the basement was closed. Jiang Jing walked over and put her hand on the doorknob. She gently turned it and found that the door was not locked. “That’s strange. When I came out, the door wouldn’t open no matter what I did,” Jiang Qianqian said, a little confused to see the door open so easily.
The stairs leading to the basement were still pitch black. It felt as if a dark current was surging inside. Jiang Jing walked in front, sensing the movement inside as she went down. The situation inside was as Jiang Qianqian had described. There were indeed three people, one of whom had a weak aura. Since there was nothing abnormal, she confidently walked forward.
Clang. The basement lights were turned on. Several bursts of Qi flew directly toward her. Jiang Qianqian shouted “Look out!” from behind her.
Jiang Jing immediately turned her body and channeled her energy to her calves. She lightly tapped her toes on the ground and dodged the attacks.
“Who are you?” Li Weizhao asked with an unhappy expression, holding a talisman in his hand. Song Zhe also looked at the newcomer cautiously.
Jiang Qianqian immediately stepped forward to tell the two who Jiang Jing was, but she saw Jiang Jing gently stop her and look at Li Weizhao with some displeasure.
“Tsk, I didn’t know you could ask for someone’s identity without introducing yourself first.” Li Weizhao sneered and lightly flicked the talisman in his hand. It was a hastily made lightning talisman. It couldn’t compare to the ones Jiang Jing had given to Jiang Qianqian, but it was still useful against regular ghosts.
A little trick that’s not ready for prime time, Jiang Jing thought. She performed a hand seal with both hands and chanted, “The heaven and earth are reversed, the spiritual light dissipates. The power of heaven and earth, dissipate immediately.” Two bursts of Qi flew into the talisman Li Weizhao had thrown, like swords, and sliced the talisman into three pieces.
Not that evil ghost? Li Weizhao’s brows furrowed. He immediately stopped and bowed to Jiang Jing.
“I am Li Weizhao, the 178th generation disciple of the Mount Shu sect. I didn’t know you were also from the Xuanmen sect. My apologies for the offense.” Song Zhe also recognized that the Qi that Jiang Jing had just used was not something a ghost could do. He also bowed to Jiang Jing. Only then did Jiang Qianqian have the chance to walk between the three of them and introduce Jiang Jing to Li Weizhao and Song Zhe.
After they all introduced themselves to each other, Jiang Qianqian squatted down and showed the wound to Jiang Jing. Jiang Jing listened to Jiang Qianqian’s analysis of the possible causes of the wound and used her internal energy to check Li Sheng’s condition. Although he didn’t need to go to a hospital immediately, he still needed to get checked out.
With Jiang Jing’s help, Jiang Qianqian and the other two decided that if the fog didn’t clear up tomorrow, they would try to force their way down the mountain. Otherwise, they would eventually be trapped and die inside. They hadn’t been able to contact the production team since the first night. They didn’t even know if the production team was aware that something had happened to them.
The remaining people, except for Zhang Man, who was still in her room, moved the unconscious Zhao Wen and Li Sheng to Li Weizhao and Song Zhe’s room to prevent any accidents at night.
Jiang Qianqian was worried about Zhang Man being alone in her room, so she and Jiang Jing went to knock on Zhang Man’s door.
“Xiao Man, are you okay? We’ve decided to go down the mountain tomorrow. I’m a little worried about you sleeping alone. Do you want to come and stay with me and my sister? You’ll be safe,” Jiang Qianqian said patiently, hoping that Zhang Man would open the door and let her in.
After waiting for a while, just when Jiang Qianqian was about to think that something had happened to her, Zhang Man’s voice came from the room. It seemed to be suppressing something. “It’s fine. Didn’t you put a talisman on the door? I’ll be fine alone tonight.”
Jiang Qianqian wanted to try to persuade her more, but Jiang Jing pulled her away and walked towards her room.
“It’s okay. You put a talisman on her door. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.”
Late at night, the light in Jiang Qianqian’s room had been turned off for a while, but the two of them lay in bed, unable to fall asleep. Jiang Qianqian tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Finally, she turned over to face Jiang Jing and asked the question that was on her mind. “The road up the mountain has been hidden by ghostly energy. How did you get here?”
The person opposite her was stunned for a moment. Finally, she said two words faintly, “With my heart.”
What kind of method is that! Jiang Qianqian was annoyed. She sat up and pushed her. “Why are you hiding things from me? Tell me how you did it.”
Jiang Jing was pushed and almost fell off the bed. She looked at Jiang Qianqian with an innocent expression. “I’m not lying to you. It was with my heart.”
“Then tell me in detail.” Jiang Qianqian didn’t believe her and demanded that she explain the process of coming up the mountain in detail.
“At first, when I got to the foot of the mountain in the afternoon, there was indeed a thick fog. I walked around the mountain and didn’t find any gaps in the fog.”
It was the same as yesterday, Jiang Qianqian thought.
“But when I thought about how I couldn’t reach you and how you might be in danger in the villa, I got really anxious.”
“Why were you anxious? Were you afraid I’d complain to Mom and Dad after I got out?” Jiang Qianqian heard that she was anxious and joked with her.
“I’m not afraid of that. It’s just that I was the one who persuaded you to go. If something really happened, I would blame myself so much.” A deep gaze looked at Jiang Qianqian, as if trying to show her the worry and concern in her eyes.
Jiang Qianqian was a little awkward with this sudden emotional atmosphere. She wanted to say something, but she didn’t know where to start.
“I couldn’t force my way through with my spiritual energy. It would be even more dangerous if I ran out of energy before I even got to the villa. So, I closed my eyes and began to use my heart to sense your location. Then, the wind responded to me.”
Jiang Jing held Jiang Qianqian’s hand and placed it in her palm.
“A cultivator’s five senses are very sensitive. The sound of your heartbeat came to my ears from the wind, and I followed that trail to find this villa.”
That sounds like complete nonsense, Jiang Qianqian thought. She tried to pull her hand back, but it wouldn’t move. Then, a hand covered her eyes.
The sudden loss of her vision made her panic. She struggled to pull Jiang Jing’s hand away, but she heard Jiang Jing say, “Can you feel my heartbeat when you close your eyes now?”
“Your hand is covering my eyes, so of course I can feel your heartbeat.”
“How about now?” The hand left Jiang Qianqian’s eyelids. She closed her eyes and just felt her face go blank. Then, she heard the rustling of the wind and leaves outside the window. She wanted to deny it, but Jiang Jing told her not to rush.
“Think about me in your heart, and then try to sense me.” The voice moved away from her. Jiang Jing had unknowingly left the bed.
Jiang Qianqian did as she was told and began to recall Jiang Jing’s appearance in her mind. The past few months of experiences flashed through her eyes like a revolving lantern. Suddenly, she felt that everything around her became quiet. She heard a heartbeat that wasn’t hers. Jiang Qianqian stood up from the bed and walked in one direction, following the heartbeat in her ears.
Thump, thump. The heartbeat was getting louder and louder. She held out her hands to prevent herself from falling and slowly moved forward. The heartbeat was getting louder and louder and faster and faster.
Thump, thump, thump.
“Jiang Jing, your heartbeat is so loud.” Jiang Qianqian smiled. Then, a pair of hands held hers. She opened her eyes, and her position was not off by a single bit.
“After this training, your sense of hearing has improved. I’m sure if you keep practicing, you’ll be able to catch up to a regular cultivator soon.” Jiang Jing lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling, recalling how Jiang Qianqian’s spiritual energy had merged with hers when she was looking for her. She was surprised at how quickly she had improved.
The ceiling above her was blocked. A familiar face couldn’t help but ask her curiously, “When you were looking for me, what did I look like in your mind?”
What did she look like? Jiang Jing’s gaze shifted to the side. She couldn’t possibly tell her that she was thinking about her desperate expression when her soul was leaving her body. That expression was too sad. Jiang Jing still felt her heart ache when she dreamed about it. Thankfully, she wasn’t too late this time.
“Hey, why aren’t you saying anything?” Jiang Qianqian urged her, seeing that she wasn’t speaking.
“Of course, I was thinking of you just as you are. I was thinking about our experiences together,” Jiang Jing said. She then turned her back to her and closed her eyes tightly. “Alright, hurry up and go to sleep. We have a tough fight to face tomorrow.”
“Sleep, sleep. I’ve never seen you be so good at sleeping,” Jiang Qianqian pouted and reluctantly lay down as well.
