The Fake Legend of Princess Mei Mei - Episode 0.3
The night was cold, and the moon was hidden behind clouds. The only sound was the rustling of leaves in the wind.
Getsuran walked quickly through the palace halls, her heart racing. Her father had told her to escape, but she didn’t know where to go or what to do.
Swor walked silently beside her, his steps steady. They had been walking for hours, avoiding the main roads and using hidden paths only a few knew about.
“You must hurry, Miss,” Swor whispered in a low voice, his eyes scanning their surroundings.
Getsuran nodded, but her mind was filled with fear and confusion. She had always been protected, always lived a comfortable life inside the palace.
Now, she was running for her life, not knowing where to turn.
“Where are we going?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“To the border,” Swor answered. “Your father made plans. Once we get there, we can cross into the neighboring kingdom.”
The thought of leaving her homeland, leaving everything she knew, was overwhelming. But there was no choice. If Enryou found out about her pregnancy, he would certainly come after her, and the consequences would be terrible.
They continued through the forest, avoiding any signs of civilization. The moon peeked out from behind the clouds, casting an eerie light on the path ahead.
Suddenly, a noise echoed through the night — heavy footsteps.
Swor quickly grabbed her arm. “Get down,” he whispered urgently.
Without a word, Getsuran crouched down, her heart pounding. She could hear the soldiers approaching, their voices low but clear.
“Did you hear something?” one soldier asked.
“No,” another replied. “It must have been the wind. Let’s keep moving.”
The soldiers passed without noticing them. Swor waited for them to go before he motioned for Getsuran to stay quiet and move quickly.
“We need to go faster,” he said.
Getsuran nodded, her body tense with fear. Every step felt heavier as she carried the weight of her pregnancy. She didn’t know what would happen next, but she had no choice but to keep running.
They came to a clearing, and suddenly, the sound of horses and shouting grew louder.
“Ambush!”
Swor pulled her quickly toward a tree, hiding behind it for cover.
The air was thick with tension. Swor’s hand held hers tightly as he kept his body low to the ground, his eyes constantly scanning the area.
Getsuran could hear the sound of the soldiers getting closer. She knew they were surrounded.
“Stay calm,” Swor whispered. “I’ll protect you.”
A group of soldiers appeared, blocking their path. There was no way around them.
Swor drew his sword and stood ready. “Let us pass.”
“You’re not going anywhere,” one soldier sneered, reaching for his own sword.
Swor didn’t hesitate. He moved quickly, parrying the first attack and countering with a strike that knocked the soldier back. The others rushed in.
Getsuran’s heart raced as she watched Swor fight. His movements were fast and precise, but there were too many soldiers for him to handle alone.
The clash of swords echoed in the air. Getsuran stood frozen, unsure of what to do. Her mind raced, but her body refused to move.
Then, a new voice shouted out.
“Enough!”
The soldiers stopped, turning to see who had spoken.
A man on horseback appeared, his presence commanding and full of authority.
He raised a hand, and the battlefield fell silent.
Swor lowered his sword, and Getsuran’s eyes widened when she saw who it was.
It was Enki.
He had found them.
“Let them go,” Enki said in a cold but authoritative voice.
The soldiers hesitated, but after a moment, they stepped aside.
Swor turned to Getsuran, his face grim. “We need to go.”
Before they could move, Enki dismounted and walked toward them, his eyes focused on Getsuran.
“Are you all right?” he asked, his voice softer now, filled with urgency.
Getsuran nodded but couldn’t speak, the shock of everything still overwhelming her.
Enki took another step closer, his gaze locked on hers. “I’m here now. We’ll get you to safety.”
Swor stepped forward as if to protest, but Enki raised a hand, silencing him.
“Let them go,” Enki said firmly.
Swor reluctantly nodded, stepping back.
Enki turned to Getsuran, offering his arm. “Come with me. We’ll get you to the border, and you’ll be safe.”
Getsuran felt relief wash over her, but fear still lingered. They weren’t safe yet. But at least now, she wasn’t alone.
They walked quickly through the woods, the sounds of the night around them growing quieter. Getsuran allowed herself a small moment of hope.
