The End of the Cultural Festival and a Departure from the Harem
Would it be possible to find out by asking the person herself?
With that thought in mind, I wandered around the festival attractions with Shizuku.
“Ah!”
“Yaho~ Amamiya-san!”
We suddenly bumped into Nanase-san.
She looked…… well, different. Almost as if something that had been weighing her down had been lifted. Compared to when I saw her in the art room, she seemed much livelier.
“Nanase-san, I want to ask you something…”
Shizuku tried to be direct but hesitated midway.
Maybe she was unsure if it was okay to ask.
But Nanase-san seemed to catch on to what we wanted to ask. She responded with a light “Ah.” It was as if to say, “I know what you’re thinking.”
“Are you talking about my messed-up artwork?”
“Um, well… yes.”
“I did that. The advisor and the club members all went pale—it was hilarious!”
Nanase-san laughed cheerfully as if recounting a fond memory.
From her demeanor, it was clear she really had done it herself.
But there was something else we wanted to know.
I decided to step in.
“Sure, you did that to your work. But what I really want to know is why you still submitted it.”
“The reason, huh… It’s probably something close to what you guys have.”
Close to us? What does that mean?
“If I’m being blunt, Amamiya-san’s devotion is abnormal, you know?”
“Eh… is it?”
“You really don’t notice? You always try to adjust completely to the other person, don’t you?”
Now that she mentioned it, when Shizuku liked Ichijou she tried to match everything to his preferences.
These days, she’s trying to align herself with me. Though I’ve been doing the same—trying to match her.
“But Higashitani-kun doesn’t just accept it; he also tries to make sure Amamiya-san doesn’t overexert herself.”
She pointed out that she had noticed small details, like when I carried more of the equipment than Shizuku did during preparations. It was to avoid burdening her.
Because I don’t want her to push herself too hard.
“Now, in my case, there was a bit of a situation with my art. Satsuki-kun accepted all of it—so much so that he even said he wanted to see more.”
If someone accepts you for who you are, you can show your work with confidence.
Nanase spoke passionately about this, and I thought they had a good relationship.
But then…
“I messed up the piece because, well, I wasn’t satisfied with certain aspects of it.”
She recounted, with a hint of ecstasy. It was about how Satsuki-kun had been moved when he saw her destroying the artwork.
“He accepted it all. How could I let him go after that?”
She said with an almost unnerving smile.
So that’s what I felt from her yesterday……..
“That’s why I’m leaving Ichijou.”
She continued, saying she wanted to be with someone who didn’t just understand her darkness, but embraced it and stayed by her side.
“I’ll be heading to Satsuki-kun’s side. I want to show him my world.”
With that, she waved goodbye and walked away toward Satsuki-kun.
“Haru, can I cling to you? I feel kinda cold.”
“Yeah, I’m a bit cold too…”
We huddled together as we continued exploring the festival attractions we hadn’t seen yet. We enjoyed the cultural festival to its fullest.

Back in the classroom later, Yuusuke told me that Ichijou had come by to try the Super Ball Scooping stall.
Apparently, he managed to complete the challenge mode, leaving Yuusuke frustrated.

A few days after the cultural festival ended.
Ichijoyu’s harem had one less member—Nanase-san was gone.
Now, only Imakoga-san and Kanefune-senpai remain.
