End-of-Semester Test and Imakoga-san with Oumi-kun
End-of-semester test.
The grades here, combined with those from the midterms, along with classroom behavior and submitted assignments. It makes up our overall evaluation score.
That total determines whether we fail or not.
For Aiba and me, we’re in the clear.
We’re diligent, after all.
The problem is Yuusuke.
His midterm performance was a disaster.
He might have points from his class behavior. But if his score is too low, he’ll still fail.
That’s why he’s been cramming like crazy.
Apparently, he got scolded for gaming too much, and his playtime is now restricted.
Worse, his games are being stopped at the most crucial moments—a method of punishment that hits him right where it hurts.
Yuusuke, Aiba, Shizuku, and I spent all our time helping him study.
We couldn’t just let a friend fail and repeat the year.
“Sorry for dragging you into this mess.”
“Don’t worry. Teaching forces me to put things into words. So in a way, it’s good practice for me.”
Aiba took the lead in explaining the parts Yuusuke didn’t understand.
Although Shizuku and I also pitched in, whenever we got stuck, we turned to Aiba for help.
“How’s it going, Shizuku?”
“English…”
“Ah, I see…”
English, with its endless variations in spelling, is pretty tough.
Math, once you grasp the applied problems, can be solved fairly quickly. But that understanding doesn’t come easily.
Even so, we gave it our all, finished our test prep, and got through the exams.
—
Test results day.
“Thank you… Thank you so much!”
Yuusuke showed us his scores.
An average of 60 points.
Considering his midterms, this was a huge improvement.
“If you’ve learned your lesson, study properly next time.”
“Yes, Master Aiba!”
Aiba sighed at how quick Yuusuke was to act humble when it suited him.
—
“I wonder how Oumi-kun’s doing.”
“We haven’t heard from him since then.”
Shizuku and I were at the park together.
It was just a simple walk for a change of pace—a casual date.
But since it was already December and winter, the sky darkened quickly even though it was only 5 p.m.
“I’ll walk you home.”
“Thanks. It’s cold, so I’m going to cling to you.”
“You don’t hold back, do you…”
Without waiting for permission, Shizuku wrapped herself around me. She was using me as her personal heater.
What a spoiled one, I thought idly.
—
“Speak with your own voice!”
“Huh? That voice—!”
“It’s Oumi-kun!”
We rushed toward the source of the loud voice—Oumi-kun.
There he was with Imakoga-san.
Did something happen between them?
For a moment, I feared the worst.
But my worries were unfounded.
We arrived just in time to see Oumi-kun and Imakoga-san embracing each other tightly.
