Filling the Rift with the Sea to Create an Ocean Trench
“Idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot!”
“Yeah, I’m fine with being an idiot. I was too dumb to realize you were being badmouthed.”
“Idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot…”
“Shut up. You’re an idiot too, for trying to handle everything alone. Idiot.”
She was still calling him an idiot, but her tone had softened.
The harshness of her insults was fading. It was turning into something more vulnerable and needy.
“Idiot… idiot…”
“Enough already. Lean on me.”
“Help me…”
“Of course! I’ll help you!”
Perhaps those words brought her relief. Imakoga-san hugged Oumi-kun even tighter.
Though faint sobs could be heard, Oumi-kun draped his school jacket over her. He was shielding her from view.
“Shizuku, let’s give them some space.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
For Imakoga-san’s dignity, it was best to leave them alone.
Besides, it seemed everything would be fine now.
The rift between the two had been filled with Oumi-kun’s “sea”, transformed into an ocean trench, and made a part of a vast ocean.
Oumi-kun had become the ship that carried Imakoga-san away from Ichijou’s harem.
“So, the Ichijou Harem is finally down to just Kanefune-senpai.”
“At this point, it’s not even a harem anymore.”
“Yeah, with only one person left, it’s just a relationship.”
Shizuku and I chatted about the collapse of the Ichijou Harem.
It seemed everyone had their own darkness to carry. But those who cared for them accepted that darkness and chose to stay by their side.
Because of that, they were able to leave Ichijou’s harem.
……….Thinking about it, did Shizuku have any darkness?
Maybe the time she was neglected counted.
Though that felt less like darkness and more like emotional wounds.
As for Kanefune-senpai, I doubted she had any darkness.
So why was she still attached to Ichijou?
Was there something she couldn’t let go of?
We continued talking about the Ichijou Harem as if to distract ourselves.
But this was a form of escapism.
The real issue wasn’t Ichijou. It was the rumors and bad reputation surrounding them.
Shizuku brought it up, ensuring I couldn’t dodge the topic.
“Haru, the problem is the bad rumors.”
“Yeah… What’s your plan for dealing with the bad rep in 2-D?”
Oumi-kun might not care about the gossip, but Imakoga-san probably did.
It was, after all, the root cause of their earlier conflict.
Her reputation was primarily fueled by personal grudges.
The bad rumors she faced while in the harem could likely be dispelled over time, through her actions and relationships.
But the grudges? That was another story.
Her aloof attitude is so annoying.
She always looks down on us. It’s irritating.
She thinks we’re all idiots, doesn’t she? You can see it in her eyes.
Just because she’s smart, she acts all high and mighty.
That’s the sort of gossip swirling around.
What’s Oumi-kun going to do about it?
Just as I was wondering this, something happened that swept all of it away.
I’ll explain it when the time comes. But for now, let me say this:
Oumi-kun, you’re an idiot—in the best way possible.
