Encounter with a Harem Member
As Yuusuke and I were heading back to the classroom, a girl suddenly charged toward us.
“Whoa, what’s this!?”
“Oh, a mysterious girl is rushing at us. You gonna build a harem too?”
“Absolutely not!”
Yuusuke teased me with a sly grin, and I immediately rejected the idea with all my might.
I have my reasons for not wanting a harem. It’s not that I dislike girls or anything; there’s a proper reason for it.
“Ignoring me, huh? That reaction—interesting!”
“Huh?”
“Eh… what?”
The girl who had charged at us found it amusing that I ignored her and then stepped back. Yuusuke and I turned to get a proper look at her.
She had long, straight golden hair that reached her waist and striking blue eyes.
A tall, model-like figure.
For some reason, Yuusuke had a grim expression on his face.
“Ugh, I teased you about the girl charging in, but why does it have to be *her*…?”
“What’s wrong, Yuusuke?”
“Wait, don’t tell me you don’t know who she is.”
Looking exasperated, Yuusuke said this as if even I should know her.
Apparently amused by his reaction, the blonde girl decided to introduce herself.
“You don’t know me? Then I shall introduce myself! I’m Kanefune Mahou, a third-year.”
She playfully added,
“I’m your senior, so respect me, okay?”
Oh, so she’s a senior.
“Never heard of her? She’s the heiress of the Kanefune conglomerate.”
“Oh, that eccentric one?”
With that, I finally realized who she was.
If you’re talking about the so-called eccentric heiress of a conglomerate, it’s her.
Referring to a girl as an “eccentric” feels a bit much. But it makes sense in her case.
Despite being the daughter of a powerful conglomerate, she’s a whimsical and unpredictable person.
However, she doesn’t throw tantrums or abuse her family’s power recklessly.
Her motto seems to be: “Do things that never get boring.”
Apparently, though, she’s toned that down recently.
“You’re wondering why I approached you two, aren’t you?”
“Well, yeah.”
“I’m not interested.”
“Oh, the scruffy guy over there is so cold!”
Kanefune-senpai exaggeratedly acted hurt.
Man, Yuusuke really doesn’t care, does he?
“Well, let’s get straight to the point, shall we? It concerns you, Higashitani-chan.”
“Wait, how do you know my name?”
“Oh, you know, I’ve interacted with Shizuku-chan and used the resources of the Kanefune conglomerate to investigate.”
Ah, I’m just a regular guy, so I guess it wouldn’t take long to dig up info on me. Wait, *Shizuku-chan*?
“I’m part of Ichijou’s harem.”
Ah, so that’s why it’s related to me. Got it.
Though she’s called an eccentric, in the end, she’s still a girl.
Still, for Ichijou to have someone from such a wealthy family in love with him, he’s really living the dream.
That thought just popped into my head.
But then, I couldn’t figure out why someone like her would rush at a guy who isn’t the one she’s in love with.
More importantly—
“Kanefune-senpai, weren’t you in the cafeteria? Don’t you need to go back?”
“Oh, that. Well, I’m the type to secure the groundwork first. I just finished doing that, you see. Of course, as a last resort, I can use the conglomerate’s power to forcibly separate everyone if I have to.”
She declared that she would use the previously unseen power of the conglomerate for one guy.
If the conglomerate has surrounded him completely, Ichijou won’t be able to escape.
“Well, anyway, that’s how it is. Higashitani-chan, I need a favor from you. Since you are a close friend of Shizuku-chan, I want you to tell her something. Could you please tell Shizuku-chan to give up on Ichijou?”
She wants me to tell Shizuku to give up on Ichijou, huh.
“That’s not my decision to make. It’s Shizuku’s. I refuse.”
“You’re seriously a hero.”
But ultimately, the person themselves has to make that decision—not me.
“Oh, really now…”
Kanefune-senpai smiled in a crescent moon shape.
……..…Is she seriously thinking about using the conglomerate’s power?
Just as I started to worry—
“Ah, youth! So refreshing!”
Her sudden exclamation left both Yuusuke and me dumbfounded.
After gathering my thoughts, I decided to ask something that had been bothering me.
“By the way, why are you even saying this? Is it because you want to monopolize Ichijou?”
“Hmm, monopolize? Well, how about this: I’ll give you a question. And if you answer correctly, I’ll tell you.”
With that, Kanefune-senpai posed a question.
True to her quirky nature, she loved doing this—posing bizarre questions.
“What is this?”
She said, showing her open palm.
“Uh… a hand?”
“Five?”
“Bzzzt, wrong! Since you got it wrong, I’m not telling you!”
She said and wandered off somewhere.
Seriously, with her, even answering normally is somehow “wrong”. What else could it be?
Man, that girl really is like a storm.
